Always interesting to see the amount of medical calls the fire engine is dispatched to. Here in Europe fire engine only runs as first responder if no ambulance is available.
it is usually because the engine often gets there before the ambulance, due to more engines and more fire stations in the city, and as more and more engines are ALS they can first respond to just about anything.
@@EpicGames28 In my country - Czech republic. If ambulance cant get to the scene quickly, police gets dispatched since they are trained as first responders.
When my family is watching one of those fire shows and asks me if it’s accurate again I’m going to refer them to this episode of “what firefighters actually do all day” this was really awesome! Guys! 😎😎
@@StevenDavanna I don't. No I don't. I actually have a real job, where I actually kinda work for a living. I don't sit around all day, and get paid with taxpayer money. I actually kinda earn my money
I lived in Eugene back in the early 70s. I remember so many times driving or walking by the Station on w7th. At that time housed a Mack tillered ladder truck. I thought how cool that would be. Starting 1981 I started a 30 year career w a Dept in So Cal. Was an Engineer for 20. Tillered many a ladder truck. Best job in the world. Good luck Eugene Springfield.
Sending a fire truck for chest pains, abdo pain, and a dog bite just seems so crazy to me. At my service they come for unconscious, VSA, or MVC's but not typical medical calls.
Great video!! But make sure that stair chair track ramp is locked before leaning the patient back. It clicked in place the first step so no harm no foul. Love the video and stuff you're doing!
Hey Sebastien ! I’m 23 years old and stuck on trying to find a career. What I do know is I enjoy helping people and like something a little different everyday that keeps you busy. I was wondering what the requirements are to becoming a firefighter/emt ? Any information is greatly appreciated !
Go to your local fire station and ask for some guidance. They will get you pointed in the right direction. This is a great time to get into the fire service. Some departments will bring you on with no past experience and pay for your fire and emt cards. Most require fire 1 and 2 cards along with emt. Get with some of the local guys and they will tell you which academy to apply to. Most firefighters are glad to help someone just beginning their path
Something I’m curious about is how you fit in time to take showers and stuff during the shift. You can’t just assume that you’ll have an hour of free time and then respond to a call when you’re in the shower 😂
is there a difference between firefighter paramedics and just normal firefighters? like they are both working together on most calls but for the medical ones they lead?
The paramedic firefighters have advanced care level certifications while the regular firefighters which are EMT/firefighters have basic level certifications so usually the paramedic firefighter takes the lead on medical calls.
They reroute it to another fire station if they are on a call. Dispatch usually has the information so they don’t call the rig that’s on a call they just reroute the fire call to another station.
The engineer is the one who drives it, and you have to go through soecial training to become an engineer, also if you want to get promoted to lieutenant or captain in the future you first have to become an engineer(firetruck driver)
@@shoto42 Interesting, here in Slovenia, the Russian shift is used -> work is done for 12 hours, then 24 hours of rest, followed by 12 hours of work at night, and then 48 hours of rest.

It depends. In Munich there is always an engine dispatched for certain medical calls.
I’m my district, an engine goes to every call unless there isn’t one available

Some of these pains could be a underlying factor for something very big

It does but it all depends on if the FD has an ambulance.

That was awesome, 13 calls in 24 hours is a lot. Is that a normal call volume for a shift?
That’s on the low side of average for E2.
@@mikecaven1709 That’s impressive, I’m in a EMT class right now. I hope I can get on somewhere that runs a lot of calls.
How long are firefigters shifts in USA?
24-48 hours, you could technically work more for overtime buts that’s the usual shifts that I’ve learned in research in hopes to be one here in the US

Does fighting a fire give cancer?
I want to be a fire fighter I'm 33 no degree or expierence how do I get in?
Start in wildland ( type 6 or 3 crew) if you want to get in. Work on your emt as soon as you can and just meet all the guys.
Is this 15 minutes of you napping?
Why would fire trucks want to report for medical emergencies?
Quick response, additional manpower for serious calls. A lot of places ambulances are tapped out or delayed so they maintain pt care.
