Always interesting to see the amount of medical calls the fire engine is dispatched to. Here in Europe fire engine only runs as first responder if no ambulance is available.
it is usually because the engine often gets there before the ambulance, due to more engines and more fire stations in the city, and as more and more engines are ALS they can first respond to just about anything.
@@EpicGames28 In my country - Czech republic. If ambulance cant get to the scene quickly, police gets dispatched since they are trained as first responders.

Amazing Video. Firefighting is one of my career paths that I’d like to go I to after I graduate, due to their duties, pay, and my uncle who was a Firefighter Paramedic down in Grants Pass. I thank all firemen for their service and hopefully I can one day work for Portland Fire and Rescue, or TVFR.
I’m looking into taking on firefighting as a career and I’ve been doing research. Love this video. Pretty good insight on the job without giving away detail that could cause legal troubles. Thanks for this!
same here, i was a volunteer at age 17 now im 20 looking for a good career in firefighting. before I go to the fire academy im training at the gym and running with weight to get my stamina and strength up so the academy will be a little easier.
Good morning, Super nice video! I am a volunteer firefighter in France being French. I apologize but I use google translate. My biggest dream since I was little, is to be able to one day travel to you and in particular visit a barracks in your country and to see the operational resources in other countries. I wish you a good day/evening and take care of yourself during intervention ;)
Hey Sebastien ! I’m 23 years old and stuck on trying to find a career. What I do know is I enjoy helping people and like something a little different everyday that keeps you busy. I was wondering what the requirements are to becoming a firefighter/emt ? Any information is greatly appreciated !
Go to your local fire station and ask for some guidance. They will get you pointed in the right direction. This is a great time to get into the fire service. Some departments will bring you on with no past experience and pay for your fire and emt cards. Most require fire 1 and 2 cards along with emt. Get with some of the local guys and they will tell you which academy to apply to. Most firefighters are glad to help someone just beginning their path
I did my clinicals as an EMT firefighters are always asking if we need help they’re trained medics so it’s nice cuz they’re a big help I love how everyone is willing to help each other in this field it’s a fun job on the EMT side but I’m going Fire
Sending a fire truck for chest pains, abdo pain, and a dog bite just seems so crazy to me. At my service they come for unconscious, VSA, or MVC's but not typical medical calls.
4:30 that happened to my sister once in 2018(?), in fact, it happened twice! She had to get an ambulance for the first one, and shortly after that she had to use an ambulance again!
Something I’m curious about is how you fit in time to take showers and stuff during the shift. You can’t just assume that you’ll have an hour of free time and then respond to a call when you’re in the shower 😂
Working as a firefighter, I’ve learned how to rinse, wash & rinse again super quick lol, I have a certain way I place my towel and clothes so if tones do drop I’m able to dry quick and throw my clothes on
Great video!! But make sure that stair chair track ramp is locked before leaning the patient back. It clicked in place the first step so no harm no foul. Love the video and stuff you're doing!
I was at Anytime Fitness yesterday at 7am and a firefighter asked me "so why's Jerry tryna kick you outta the gym" I said "cause I was walkin in front of people doing sets" so that's something firefighters do in Milford OH.
is there a difference between firefighter paramedics and just normal firefighters? like they are both working together on most calls but for the medical ones they lead?
The paramedic firefighters have advanced care level certifications while the regular firefighters which are EMT/firefighters have basic level certifications so usually the paramedic firefighter takes the lead on medical calls.
They reroute it to another fire station if they are on a call. Dispatch usually has the information so they don’t call the rig that’s on a call they just reroute the fire call to another station.
I pick on my wife when she watches the shows. I begin to pick them apart and then she will pause it. She won’t start watching it again until I leave the room
I have always had massive respect for firefighters and paramedics. My grandfather, who is a veteran, had a heart attack about ten years ago, and if it wasn’t for the firefighters and paramedics getting to him so quickly, he definitely would’ve died. He is still alive and well today, and even though I only 11 years old at the time, I remember it like it was yesterday. 🫡🫡🫡

A lot of firefighters have paramedic qualifications so they handle questionable medical calls, to aid the strictly paramedic responders

Why would fire trucks want to report for medical emergencies?
Quick response, additional manpower for serious calls. A lot of places ambulances are tapped out or delayed so they maintain pt care.
