I took your advice and started eating half of the food I used to eat. Started slowly because I think your stomach needs to adjust gradually. Have lost 8 lbs in one month. Also, have modified my clothes to classic colors , gave away things I was wearing just because I had them in my closet. Suddenly, I have a wardrobe of clothes I feel so much better in. I am in my late 60's and just could not find clothes here in country Australia that worked for me. Thank you Marie-Anne .

This was a perfect video to watch while I plan what to wear tomorrow for dinner with my boyfriend's family! I settled on navy blue slacks, a navy silk blouse and a burgundy velvet blazer. I chose the silk blouse because it has a tie front which will be perfect for showing off a beautiful delicate gold brooch set with pearls which my boyfriend just gave me for my birthday!!

The diagonal lines on your skirt, and later the curved fronts of the jacket, made your hips look a bit more curvy too and your waist therefore slimmer. Good for inverted triangles like me!

Bonjour Marie-Anne , thank you for the nice video, I have the same skirt, and I dress it like you with a off white sweater and off white boots , for me it works if I dress in one colour only it gives me this vertical slimmer and taller look , I am 1,68 m but if I am dressed in one colour only I look much taller.

I prefer V necks but struggle to find them in the UK.Same with sleeves, when you get to a certain age you don't want sleeveless

A very informative video. I definitively took notes. It also explains why I always favored v neck blouses And I always liked dark suits with lighter colored blouses. In fact I just ordered a white long sleeve v neck blouse with a medium small dark print that I think will be very slimming with all the great tips and info
I am very skinny and when I wear black I appear even more slimmer. Sometimes I on purpose put something of the bright colors :)
Plaids might help on where you want to look fuller.

Two years ago after my elderly parents passed away I felt I needed to smarten up and kept a file with lists of all my personal purchases, at the end of the year, I review the lists and realised many items have not been used or given me any joy or value. From now on I hope my lists will be shorter having only wonderful purchases! Thanks again 😊

@@jodavb With regard to purchases never used, I've realized that watching certain influencer's channels subtly encourages the purchase of many things we neither truly want nor need. 🥴 To decrease large impulse purchases, I find that keeping a list for 30 days, then reviewing the list before purchasing, cuts down on what I actually buy! So I have fewer unused, unwanted items! And I get more enjoyment from what I ultimately do buy! Congrats on the changes you've already made ! 👍😊

Great tips. I thought the idea of wide boots on the calves was to make the legs look skinny because the boots look too big. That's how the stores are trying to sell these to us.

I’m lucky that I am slim and tall, but anyways I must avoid certain combinations or make some tricks in order to keep from looking like a flagpole!😹
Many years ago people in my country had a decent weight. Most Costa Ricans are not too tall but we had a balanced diet.
About 30 years ago we were invaded by lots of US fast food chains, people’s lifestyle began to change towards the US lifestyle and now people are terribly fat, even children. My grandma hated this kind of food and disliked US fashion so I was safe!😸
But you can see the consequences on the streets.
Besides latins love wearing bright colors with big prints and that makes them look even bigger.
I am sharing your videos so they can learn and begin a change.
Your advices are not just about style and how to look chic, they are about changing your habits, enjoying life and unveiling the best of every one to bring out your style and make you shine!

I love black! It is indeed slimming! However, for my complexion and hair color, I have to be really careful about putting dark colors toward my face, as it looks harsh. Any suggestions for slimming colors for ladies like me with really fair skin and light hair? My hair is a medium reddish brown, and I am a rectangle. By the way, I LOVE that skirt!!!!
For me makeup makes a difference. I could also not wear black without makeup. Especially Rouge on my cheeks and lipstick is very important. I prefere to wear black it in the evening, going out. Rather not so often during daylight.
I love your outfit, and that beautiful, elegant skirt, very much… it always seemed to me that short haircut makes one too look slimmer and taller, would you agree with that Marie -Anne?

I would think so, heels are only one part of all of these tips. To my eye, limiting the number of hems and horizontal lines in an outfit is a big help. About the heel area though, in my opinion pants and socks of the same color would seem to elongate a person's leg, visually.
I think (in my experience) it depends on the toe box of that boot. I once owned boots with an elongated pointy toe... my legs looked like a million dollars! 😁 if not wearing boots- if you can wear shoes with a low vamp? Those make a nice long slim leg, too, when you wear a skirt.

Love the video. . . I have a question-it just popped into my head. Do French women favor red lipstick all year? The reason I ask is because my coloring doesn’t really favor the nude lip, which is sometimes considered more appropriate for summer. I’m curious!
I am pretty sure that I have seen her sport that lovely color in videos year round. I am not (really) tempted to do that as I do not suit that color... 😉 However, depending on where you live, you might want to take the "getting/feeling hot and sweaty/looking flushed" into consideration- and the bright red lip may not go with that. I'd probably feel more like flashing the bright red in the evening/at night rather than at daytime. But I adore it _whenever_ it shows up on Marie-Anne! 😍
The King's Daughter, thank you so much for responding! I love red lipstick, but I’m not certain how it will wear here in the American south. We have about 3 to 4 months of blistering heat and humidity here.
@@emilyevans6989 and I live in Northern Michigan where we can count on three or four month of Siberian cold! 😂 -- My sister gave me a few "nude" lipsticks to try (she ordered off Amazon and the color was wrong...). One I think was J.Lo's nude... I'm not too excited. It may be different for ladies with a darker complexion, but I have blonde hair and pale skin. For people like me, the advice usually is not to go paler than one's natural lip color- or one looks sickly; and who wants that? So I decided that a "neutral" lip for me will be a lipstick that enhances my natural lip color, rather than one that goes towards tan or beige. Maybe that's something for you, too? ☺

I love that white skirt, although I doubt I will be able to find anything like it, especially these days. Why do high street retailers not make clothes that flatter the body but follow stupid trends which actually make a woman look worse?(Fatter, shorter etc? Cropped blazers, cocoon coats, and all other trash that seems to be targetted to the teens, and puts me off even trying them. Any time you find anything in a flattering cut or colour (let's forget about the quality for the moment) it is sold out because we women are desperate to find stuff that suits us. Why oh why don't they make more of it? Also, it seems trendy to have a 'curves' line by all retailers these days but if you see the kind of clothes they are selling to curvy ladies, they don't do them any favours at all! Aaaargh!!!(Sorry about the rant)
Great video! Do they have a comparable saying in France “Better to keep your old horse fat”? Basically if you are old, or you have an old horse (which I have two right now) a little fat may help in an illness. My Arabian had a choke and we had to start feeding him with his feed mixed with hot water so it was more of a mush (worked great for 10 years till he passed almost age 30) and he recovered so well because he was a little plump when it happened. My point being for people who are older they shouldn’t be a size 0 or small so if they get sick they can survive it. I am 58 maybe I should think about this:) Looking slimmer is good with these tips but actually being too slim maybe not so good. I did just bake a cheese cake!
I was telling my friend about this the other day. When my dad had his last stroke he didn't have a chance as had no extra weight. You never know when you might need that 10 lbs!
There is that... and I think it was model Lauren Hutton who said that after a certain age, a woman has the choice between her face and her derrière. 😉 You may keep your slim hips- but your face may show more wrinkles and you may even look haggard. Or... you allow for a few extra pounds (and probably a pant size or two up), and have a softer and smoother face. Eh...! 😕

Love 99% of your outfits but don't like this one. Blouse doesn't go well with that style skirt. Don't particularly like the hip line on the skirt but love the flair and bottom of the skirt.
May a black silk blouse or sweater?
