Love visiting Halifax, but way too expensive to live (I live elsewhere in NS). 15% HST is a killer. ALWAYS windy!! South end is beautiful and pretty much the only thing going for the city; everything else you can find in any other Canadian city.
TORONTO'S grimey bro, I miss the cool vibe out there when I visited, I noticed cost of stuff was much cheaper than Toronto, you should make a video on the difference from cost of living change out there from 2020-2023
@kgrrgbkg I lived in Halifax, traffic is horrendous. Halifax is an old city that is overpopulated. The infrastructure can't be upgraded anymore. There is no more room. Both rush hour times morning and afternoon can take 50 mins to move 4 km. I live in CB now its 4 hours east.
@@kgrrgbkg3rd worst in the country. That's really saying something when Halifax is now severely overpopulated, but the population is tiny compared to Toronto or Vancouver. Traffic should not be 3rd worst here
I think it is hilariously ignorant the rest of the country (especially Ontario) seems to think there is greener grass anywhere in Canada now. It took 2 years for mass immigration to ruin Halifax, as well as the influx of people from Ontario moving here. Food and utilities and taxes are more here than other provinces, the social systems are far worse, and there is nowhere to live. A 1 bdrm sh1thol3 is 2k+ if you can find one. Expect roaches, too
I applied for diploma in truck and transport repair in nova scotia community college kingstec campus. Is it gud. I don't know about kentville. Is it gud place to live
I love how the homeless are mentioned as the only real problem with respect to safety. What an irresponsible thing to say. The homeless don't bother anyone, and if you're going to mention them at all, it should be as a "con" for the fact that the City doesn't do what they need to help the homeless find housing, jobs, stability, and dignity, all things every person is entitled to have.
I want to get the heck out of St Catharines Ont. This place has turned into a dive, drug problems, theft crimes, population increase that the infrastructure can't handle. Give me 1-2 acres with a small home in NS and I think I'd be content in my retirement years. Tom how's about a video topic on NS retirement living and places to reside in? just a thought.. cheers!
Don't move to Nova Scotia if you think st Catherine's is a dive. Halifax and Nova Scotia are filling up fast with immigrants mostly from India and most don't give a crap about the Canadian they are displacing..
Rent is expensive.. Home prices are expensive... Property taxes are expensive...(especially on the Peninsula).. North End/downtown...high crime and panhandlers... Power Bills are expensive.. Winters are cold with very little snow... Road salt will rust your vehicle... Indian people are Everywhere... No big concerts... No NHL team... Can't get a doctor... Soccer and lacrosse...Who cares..?
If you are planning to visit Halifax or Nova Scotia, please do not. Because local government does not like tourism, they are not welcoming tourist. The local government make new law to prohibit resident to operate short term rental form their property from 2025. If you like to visit Halifax, be prepared to pay 200% or more cost per night for your stay in hotel instead of Airbnb or booking from on 2025.
Con every grocery store in halifax os closed by 9pm in the winter months and restraunts arent open too much after this time. In the summer ins usually 10 pm but hopefully they change it back to 11 tbis year but very very doubtful. They only thing open late are nightclubs and bars and even those seem few and far between. Rent is moronic now as that one bedroom apartment used to run at about 600 a m9nth bit because of our horrendous immigration problem and our government determined to destroy all pf Canada we now pay 2000. And like you said the ammout that regular Nova scotians make has not gone up which seems to have led to alot of Canadians being homeless while immigrants take their places and fill them with 10 or 12 people. Nova Scotia is being destroyed by the provincial and federal government and their inability to tirn off the tap and stop immigration.
I've lived in Halifax my whole life (47), and it sucks now. Don't come here. Expensive and way too populated. Homes are NOT $500,000. Try $600K (duplex) to -$Xm for detached home.
I have lived here since 2008. I would have argued from 2008 until 2018 it was the best city in Canada to live. Now I would not recommend anyone live here.
Halifax sucks!! I've been here 8 years and I regret buying a home. You literally will have no medical care if you move here. My boss and my neighbor have breast cancer and they do not have a doctor. They're health is managed by a nurse!! To get a doctor you have to be on a 5-10 year wait list, I am still on a wait list. When you go to a walk-in clinic you have to wait outside before they open and the line is at least 50-75 people. When they open they hand out numbers. If you're at the back end of the line you will not get in. All the nurses and doctors leave the province because they get paid more everywhere else. All the good people are leaving and we're left with refugees on gov hand outs, new immigrants who create their own communities, international students scamming the system and LOTS of drugs and violent offenders. The news and real estate agents hide these facts to sell you properly. If you plan to move, go outside the country as Canada is the most expensive country in the world.

Would love to know more about the music scene in Halifax! Also thanks for this vid 💟💟💟
Good information Thank you.
Rent is higher than it should be. Paying $24,000 a year for a one bedroom is a financial dea th sentence for a couple.
St. F. X. is not in Halifax; it's two hours away in Antigonish.
correct, little editing mistake on our part
Great video!

Cost of living video coming out next week
Stuff here is very high.
The 2000$ is it for one bedroom?
Get ready to the high taxes. They just keep on taking.
NB is better off with respect to doctors, rents are cheaper. All hrm is bars and restaurants.
What is a house doctor?
The Traffic!
What traffic?

Surely it can't be as expensive living in Halifax compared to Vancouver?
It is! Plus groceries are expensive

Averages homes here are around 700 thousand and up
They are not, in the West end and Bedford they can be but In most areas they are below that range
Average is in the mid to high 500Ks.
Average in bedford is 700? How many bedroom?
@@biswasshrestha7220 depends on the house. Likely between 3-5

It is quiet, look for rental spots far ahead of time

Absolutely false, some are violent offenders, but the media downplays this.
