My son lives in one of the military accommodations there, upstairs tub leaks into my sons tub. He's been complaining about it since September. Mostly they think he is making it up. They patched the ceiling in his bathroom and my son keeps taking videos of the water running through the ceiling. Imagine the bacteria that could be running all over him if he showered when the person upstairs showered with upstairs germs running through. Maybe you can help Tom. Management of this unit is deplorable to allow this to continue.

We are Not Toronto, much much smaller and not a concrete jungle here in NS, but do have the highest Cost of living, NOT Including Toronto, or Vancouver!

Been living in Halifax for 57 years.. sure as hell there is no such thing as: Schmidtville.

I used get off the bus on Spring garden road and walk down to the Ferry Terminal, take the Ferry to Dartmouth then from the Dartmouth Water front, I would walk to Mic Mac Mall, slip under the highway and into Shubie Park to walk around there. I would get the bus from there back to any connection I needed. That was a lot of walking.

When I lived in Halifax, I loved walking around downtown as it was easy in the summer and there was so much to see and do.

If you are planning to visit Halifax or Nova Scotia, please do not. Because local government does not like tourism, they are not welcoming tourist. The local government make new law to prohibit resident to operate short term rental form their property from 2025. If you like to visit Halifax, be prepared to pay 200% or more cost per night for your stay in hotel instead of Airbnb or booking from on 2025.

Hi Tom! Is it a bad time to become a real estate agent in NS? (I'm in Pictou County). Is the market over-saturated with agents? or is it as good a time as any?

My #1 is the waterfront. It’s the one place I have to visit when I can make it back.i love the development but I do miss the old charm and hope it never loses some of that charm. Yes! The friendliness!

Thank you for this great information. I am wondering how I can find out what type of septic field / tank I have as I have no history from the previous owner of our home I would like to get an outline of where the field is located ( how far back and wide it is) For example, I'd like to plant a tree, but I don't want to plant it anywhere near the field. Is there a resource or a way to find out the history on my septic tank and field?

Even the pros are cons , canada is worth it , you work so hard just to.pay tax. Even if you want to move to small city like halifax, it seem impossible low income and expensive housing and high rent . Canada want it is citizens to die from stress

Could you please comment on the demographics? What is it like for young people? What are the schools like for teenagers? What is the social scene please? I’m also curious about the nearest post secondary education facilities thank you!

The traffic and hills around lower water street are a deal breaker. The Governor is beautiful for that area but expensive. I'm going to the mills next month.
