We came Christmas Eve 3 yrs ago. It took less than 18 hrs being in this province to decide to leave Ontario for good. We had no intentions of moving here until visiting my friend. So glad we did. Houses are less than Ontario. Auto insurance for us was half. More laid back. 2 lakes on my street. Minutes from the ocean. 2 min to a park, mall or lake. Love it here. Even opened a barbershop. chinwags barbershop So grateful to be here
Good for you!! But what about the weather?!! I’m seriously thinking of moving there, but everyone keeps banging on about the weather and how bad it is? 🫤
@@ac7237 we didn’t get snow until the last few days of February. Green until Then but so is rest of Canada. Winter to me is same as southwestern Ontario. Except it can snow rain and melt in same 24 hours.
@@ac7237 Weather? Lol...since when is Halifax weather worse than anywhere else? If anything, we have some of the easiest winters in the country this past decade or so.
Good overview! There are also many love family oriented areas in Dartmouth going out towards the beaches - Portland Hills, Portland Estates, Woodlawn and others. That's another different but nice vibe again. :)
Infrastructure is lagging way behind growth in both Halifax and Dartmouth. More people coming in, more vehicles, but services and road infrastructure is not keeping up. Not even a bit.
Yes that was my mistake, we pull BRoll from a Halifax site and they didn't have much downtown Dartmouth Footage. I wanted to make sure we had the video out to you folks today so we went with it but I'll do better next time. Also for those wondering, Greg is refferencing the Vandal doughnut footage and mural footage which is from Gottingen street in Halifax.
tbf, I m from Montreal and lived in Dartmouth and the maritimes for 5 years, and people are much more friendly in the Maritimes. I would walk on the bike path near the library and random people would say hi. But that's 10 years ago, so I don't know about the crime rate now but it wasn't that bad. And I spent a lot of time on the streets. Nothing compared to Toronto. Man, I miss it. The lakes everywhere. Everything is slower. Less smells. Taking the ferry in the summer and the feeling you get when there's so much fog, you can't see Halifax while crossing.
@@beaverbank9823 Truthfully I took a homeless "FRIEND " into my house in the middle of winter with no hesitation. On the 3rd night when I got home, it was painfully obvious that practically all my designer clothes had vanished. When I found him 7 hours later, he affirmed my suspicions. He pulled out a 10 inch lock blade and gome 2x in the ribs and lungs along with a 4 inch slash scarily close to my heart ♥. He booked it away straight away in a stolen car. For 3 consecutive days the police came to the hospital thinking that I would RAT 🐀. Each day I told The Screws (50) to the hell out of my room. Finally they played their TRUMP CARD, and said if I confirm who shanked🔪me the Crown agreed to withdraw my outstanding charges. After advising the PIGS to FUCK OFF AND LEAVE MY HOSPITAL ROOM, THE STABBER walked away a free man, while I was sentenced to 12 months in the Halifax County Correctional Center and served 9 months for being a SOLID STAND-UP OG and he was enjoying, days of golfing and being a beach player chasing g-strings and pussy! We still bump smiles and lines occasionally.
I’m sorry dude this is kinda cringe I’ve been living here for over 6 years and there’s nothing but crazy ass crack heads and creepy men would don’t leave us women alone 💀 no pros to it at all

I like Dartmouth, been there a few times. My brother lives there. Im in Niagara Falls, On.

Very True Peggy, Dartmouth is full of hidden gems
Thanks for the video👍
St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church is on Caledonia Rd. I thought you might mention it.
I grew up in Dartmouth. 04:54 Leighton Dillman Park.

Add to that, massive doctor and nurse shortage. Good luck finding a doctor when you move here.
Talking about Dartmouth while showing shots of Gottingen street and the Halifax shopping mall. lol
Thank you 🙏
Like Halifax and Springfield?

toronto boy here getting priced out. hoping my BC partner is amiable to this lifestyle
We're similar to BC we just don't have mountains, lot's of woods, lakes and beaches close by
Just wondering if the author of the video is actually from anywhere in HRM? I grew up there and I disagree with a lot of the comments Tom has shared.
Hahaha good job promoting Dartmouth while showing Gottingen Street in Halifax lol. Way to build Cred
Hey. If I move there in a year , would I be able to get a studio apartment for under a 1000 bucks? How affordable are rentals according to you?
Sorry I dont deal in rentals, I would try rentals.ca/halifax they have a good variety and can give you an idea for costs
It's expensive 🫤 thanks for the reply
Why’s all the b roll from across the river in downtown Halifax 🤔
There's a few comments below adressing this
Portions of the B-roll footage appear to be from the North End of Halifax...?

Are you Clancy Brown from Bad Boys(1983)?

While in Dartmouth a lot of old people and zombies .
Thank YOU! Halifax and Dartmouth is a friendly place? I mean it peoples mentality. And the Crime rate is high?
Definately! In terms of crime I would say most of the crime here is petty crime and it’s in specific areas like every big city
