Great video Brad. Calgary is a very intriguing city for me as the business sector seems to be doing much better there than Toronto where I live. Working as a real estate agent in Toronto is impossible with over 30,000 agents in the city. The market seems to be a little better in Calgary whereas in Toronto, it has been going downhill for over past few years. I can totally see myself moving to Calgary in a year or 2 and continue my career as a Real Estate Agent.
I am a born Calgarian thinking of moving back. I have lived a third of my life in Ontario and China. This was a great video and very accurate. In fact, I will look up some of your other videos and see if I can't figure out a new home. I have already invested in the building Gallery project downtown (ear shot of the Calgary tower) and other projects.
I'm hoping to move my family to Calgary next year, but the prices of many houses have gone up a lot. It makes my burden even heavier. I don't even dare to watch the introductory video of the Chinese Calgary house. Because for the same house, the Chinese offer is even a staggering 30% higher than the Taiwanese!😮💨
As a new immigrant landing in calgary later in the year this video helps me alot especially a modern coty but a small town neighbourhood concept. Great job
if you're moving to Calgary, GET YOUR LICENSE!! transit becomes more unreliable in the winter the further from the belt-line (downtown) you get. i was once stuck at a station for an hour before I was picked up by a relative because of the snow.
Very accurate.. transit is not the best option I'm winter..too many homeless people riding for free and breakins at train station car parks.. I know because I've been a victim too many times
Well, I'm not planning to move to Canada currently. But I really enjoyed your video. Great editing, smart decisions in storytelling... love it. I'm currently a bit undecided where my next CAN travel will take me. I know that Alberta is a great province for sure, but the Maritimes are amazing as well. So much to discover in your awesome country. Greetings from Germany. If I'd be interested in buying a house - you'd be my man :D Thanks for sharing your views about Calgary.
Family and I moved from Toronto 3 years ago, best thing we ever did! I hated the weather in Toronto (among many other things) The weather in Calgary is amazing, we love it. Great video and info
@@nicolerose7639 Weather is a personnel preference. Calgary is pretty Dry in the summer and winter, Toronto is Wet in the summer and winter. The humidity is what I dislike
You should also mention that: 1- Alberta has the highest electricity charges and car insurance premiums in Canada 2- Water is very scarce in major cities 3- there are municipal franchise fees on all utility bills 4- municipalities charge for waste water 5- Alberta has the highest property taxes in the country
@@digy1016 Depends on what you're looking for from Canada. Mild weather yearly, Ok paying job. Housing is super expensive to buy and rent. You get taxed to death on everything, go to BC, specifically the lower mainland. Long cold winters and short Summers. Great paying skilled jobs. Cheaper (than most of the country) to buy a house but very expensive to rent. Less taxes to pay. Go to Alberta, specifically Calgary or Edmonton. Longer Summers. Cold Winters with lots of snow. Decent paying jobs. Expensive to buy and rent. More taxes. Go to Ontario, specifically Toronto and surrounding area.

@@BradMcCallumthere will always be people to buy the houses regardless of how high prices go. A lot of people are worried about that here. Im lucky i have owned a home since 06. But it is a great city!
Great content! Thank you for shining light on a lot of points that are not mainstream. The energy you put in the video is very convincing that moving there would be ideal for everyone :D
What I LIKE about Calgary is housing prices. What I DON'T LIKE is those areas almost in the city centre (such as Parkdale) look like remote outskirts. it's almost no city in the city.
Also the health care is getting worse. It took me three years to find a family doctor without changing the family doctors all the time, most of my friends who are from other countries and do not have regular family doctors. If you want to see the specialists , you need to wait for 6 months - one year for a check out. Also there is no rent control in Alberta, there are many people who move in Alberta, many people who have an issue to find a affordable rental properties. However, it is still cheaper than other big cities like Vancouver, Toronto or Montreal.
Oh look another comment where this clown realtor doesn't like or comment because it goes against his motive about lying about calgary to trick more people into migrating and suffer to see his investments appreciate.
I appreciate your very detail video… your energy was very welcoming… makes me wanna move to Calgary from Vancouver and your video just might be the selling point❤️❤️❤️
We spent last summer there and considering buying a property. I can't imagine how do you get outside and enjoy at - 40?????? What kind of shoes and coat one must have to survive there?
Brilliant. You must have thought i lived in a world without money where I could just spend weeks of time and thousands of dollars creating a video for the sole purpose of your entertainment. Or maybe you’re unsure how UA-cam actually works - you’d rather watch a UA-cam advertiser than a creator for 15 seconds…. Give me back the half you watched and you can keep your luck. 😀
Awsome video! been thinking about moving to Calgary from Toronto.Maybe its time I make that move at least real estate is still a bit more effordable then T.O and Vancouver. Best video about calgary . Thx Brad
The rentals for the two bedroom condo in Calgary costs around 2000-4000, which it was 1200- 1800 two years ago. Now it is not affordable anymore. The average house price is around 600 k. If you work in the oil & gas industry, your salaries are above 100 k , you can afford 600 k above houses. If you work in the other industries, you do not earn 100 k. When the oil price drops, you lost the jobs in that industry. the homeless and crime rates hike in downtown area.
Brad this is a fabulous video but there is one correction - Calgary is Canada's 4th largest city. Vancouver is Canada's 3rd largest city. Calgary is awesome!
The people, the people, the people! I moved there from Toronto but to move back due to family reasons. Calgary made me feel at home without any hesitation. I always tell people that it's where I want to retire and counting down the months when I return to Calgary to resume life there and eventually retire. :) This video was awesome Brad. Well done!
I had lived in Calgary from 2007 through 2012. When the oil & gas boom had stopped and the oil projects closed down, I lost my job at and decided to leave the city for a job in another province. If I hadn't lost my job at that time, I would have never left Calgary which is until these days my favorite city in Canada. Finding a rental home has always been and is a major challenge there. Also, finding a job in Calgary without a car is not an option.
The video is great! Could you please tell me which communities are at 2:07 seconds and 5:30 seconds in the video? How much is the median house price there? Thanks!
With an educational background in oil and gas its been more than 2 months that i moved here to Calgary, Canada and i am unable to find any job in oil and gas. Even odd jobs are hard to find and housing is at astronomical level. Welcome to Calgary guys 😄
Dude - with all due respect you've just moved to a new city, and you haven't found your dream job in the ideal industry? Be patient - it will happen. If you find housing is astronomical, its worse almost everywhere else sooooooo.....
thank you for your meaningful and exciting video. it's giving me more reasons to choice Calgary as my next destination; thank from cameroon. I will read other comment to know more about Calgary
I still remembering visiting Calgary, Alberta when I was stationed in Great Falls, Montana in the USA. I've visited Calgary and Edmonton so many times, all the borders patrol guards knew me too well, stop checking my ID or passport. Many of people's who live in Calgary and Edmonton thought i live there. I've great memories about Alberta!
Great video!! I am a Parisian of French origin and I have been living in Calgary for 10 months. I really like the climate but I find that Calgary is not very dynamic for a big city… especially downtown. Calgarians prefer to drive rather than walk so sometimes the city seems really empty 😅
I have no idea why this video popped up for me to watch but man well done. Definately will get people thinking about Calgary. Tourism Calgary should give you a ring.
Great video Brad! I just released a video on my channel with a very similar title, but about moving to Lethbridge. Yours definitely has mine beat on the production value tho! 4:58 you used a stat from 2022 but detached homes in Calgary have increased over 100k this year alone. Do you think we will see this trend continue?
I believe so! I'll leave it up to you to decide if that's a good or bad thing. There is just a higher demand for the life/real estate that Alberta has to offer because of our provinces affordability. As long as the demand remains higher than the pull of higher interest rates on pricing, I think we'll see appreciation.
Dam you put so much energy in it respect yes I'm thinking moving next year I'll be hoping you could help me find a new home so can settle with my family tks
Thanks Brad. Have a question for you. 3 years ago my Dad gave me $500k to pay off the house (Calgary), now that it is about $650k. What should I do: doing nothing and enjoy the debt-free, keep the house and waiting for higher price in the future, sell the house and invest in something, or something else. Please give me some advice. Wish you all the best.
Thanks for your comment - without fully knowing your situation, I'm limited in my advice - but here's what I'd consider if I were you. Let's say you chose to sell... what would you do with the money? Stocks look risky - and the outlook is generally bearish - with an expectation that the US could enter recession or might already been in it. So I wouldn't invest there. You could take the money and put it in a GIC or money market fund and receive 5% on your money - but there are some concern around the banks and liquidity - so it means that this isn't a totally risk free approach either. Right now, around the world, people with money are seeking safe assets, and there are few places to find them. Personally, if I were you - I'd hold your house. I believe Calgary market will continue to appreciate due to low supply and high demand - and you're insulated from bank issues somewhat, and you don't have to worry about stock volatility. There is no SURE thing. Even just selling and buying again has expenses. I'd either ride it out, or leverage it to buy rentals. There is strong demand for rentals here. Be conservative though with whatever you decide!
I love Calgary, but this is a very rosy picture…. It’s all these things you mention if compared to Vancouver, Montreal or Toronto…. But for most people, the surge of people moving there and increase in investing parties from outside AB have really increased cost of living, unemployment is one of the highest in the country, and many of the small city benefits are not really existent any longer.
Since we released the video five months ago some things have definitely changed - but unfortunately it’s not got a lot better elsewhere either, so although the advantage isn’t as strong, in many ways it’s still got an edge over those major markets, but you’re right - it’s not the same as it was.
Thank you so much for providing tons of useful information:) My family will move to the Calgary from Tokyo in March 2025. We don’t have any VISA, experience relevant to Canada. I used to live in the US, that’s why my family are thinking for my kids to receive the autstanding education and culture in Canada. Anyways, see you guys in the Calgary:)
Unless you're going to be making over 120 Thousand a year don't bother. Crime is on the rise, only a few months ago we had several shootings. The housing shortage is diabolical and immigration is unchecked. Canada has some of the better universities, but they are invested with DEI preachers and woke politics. As for culture, that's still there but the politicians and immigrants want to put a stop to that as well. Canada is a nation in decline, if you choose to come here that's your decision, but there's a reason Canada is seeing record-high levels of emigration out of the country.
I would like to answer my question.. I am a citizen from Algeria and I want to live with my family in calgary.. I'm specialize in breeding birds. Is there work in this field? (Zoo or bird breeding shops) and does certificate higher degrees in this field?
Agree with most except for housing availability - rental market in Calgary has been a shit show the last couple of months. Absolutely no available supply with extremely rising costs.

The greatest show on earth 😂. I don't think so but I visited Calgary and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice people too
Best representation of Calgary’s pro and cons. I will add that the salaries in Calgary and the provincial income tax is lower in AB. 😊❤
A round of applause for the McCallum Group 👏👏
Thank you! This was an epic undertaking for us - and we're proud of how we repp'd our city!
@@BradMcCallum I’ve been working on doing something similar for my city
This just amped up the 🔥
I am a born Calgarian thinking of moving back. I have lived a third of my life in Ontario and China. This was a great video and very accurate. In fact, I will look up some of your other videos and see if I can't figure out a new home. I have already invested in the building Gallery project downtown (ear shot of the Calgary tower) and other projects.
Thanks so much!
Same...I have lived in Toronto for the past 20 ish yrs... debating to go back
I'm hoping to move my family to Calgary next year, but the prices of many houses have gone up a lot.
@@Ashoud_Anobetah i dont necessarily care about people riding for free, but i care when those people are high!
Great video Brad! I lived in Calgary for 10 years before retuning back to my home province. This video has me wanting to move back.
Thank you for checking it out!!!
Excellent video Brad. All a very true lived experience being here for 20 years myself. We are never leaving 😊
Thank you! It's not perfect, but we love it too. :)
@@buzzmattn6539 appreciate the kind words! We love Germany, it’s also a beautiful country
Family and I moved from Toronto 3 years ago, best thing we ever did! I hated the weather in Toronto (among many other things) The weather in Calgary is amazing, we love it. Great video and info
That's awesome! For some people the weather is awesome! I'll admit it - I wish we had palm trees and beaches, but realistically, it's really great!
Is the weather not worse in Calgary?
@@nicolerose7639 Weather is a personnel preference. Calgary is pretty Dry in the summer and winter, Toronto is Wet in the summer and winter. The humidity is what I dislike
Bravo to you...i hear ya about the weather among other things!!
2 are same shit
You should also mention that:
1- Alberta has the highest electricity charges and car insurance premiums in Canada
2- Water is very scarce in major cities
3- there are municipal franchise fees on all utility bills
4- municipalities charge for waste water
5- Alberta has the highest property taxes in the country
@2.64%, Winnipeg has the highest property taxes in Canada.
So which Canadian cities could you advice to a new comer; Thank you
@@digy1016 Depends on what you're looking for from Canada.
Man, this is spectacular! That was a fun watch!
Thank you my man!
Thanks to moving to Calgary! I been living here for the past 11 years my rent went up from $1,000 to $2000 in 2 years now i can't longer afford to live in Calgary anymore, I'm moving to Edmonton.
What is rent there? Hasn’t it went up like everywhere else?
The best video ever! You are attracting too many people from everywhere now. You truly are the Calgary ambassador! ❤
Haha thank you so much! We ❤️ our city!
You and this guy are just real estate pumpers. This video is complete bs tricking many unfortunately.
@@WizardHarry69 I literally fact checked everything. EVERYTHING. So what's the BS? Why does every uneducated person in the comment section think realtors want to 'pump' prices?! Or do you REALLY believe that every Realtor's goal is that prices go so high that NOBODY can afford them? How on earth would I make a living if nobody were buying homes?
@@BradMcCallumthere will always be people to buy the houses regardless of how high prices go. A lot of people are worried about that here. Im lucky i have owned a home since 06. But it is a great city!
Great content! Thank you for shining light on a lot of points that are not mainstream. The energy you put in the video is very convincing that moving there would be ideal for everyone :D
Great video. I’ll give you a shout when I am ready to buy a house here in Calgary.
im proud to be a Calgarian this video is crazy good thanks to make a video about my City!
Ikr I am from calgary to
What a video!!! Props to all the team involved and thank youuuu!!!
Thanks so much! :) It was a lot of work - but we're proud of it.
Dear Brad, this video is by far the best one!
Moved to Calgary 3 years ago and absolutely love it!! Found a great job in tech sales & and was able to by our first home last spring!
I love to hear that Calgary has kept its promise of being a great home for you and your family! Thx for sharing your story!
I appreciate your very detail video… your energy was very welcoming… makes me wanna move to Calgary from Vancouver and your video just might be the selling point❤️❤️❤️
Very kind of you to say that thank you!
Of all the “Moving to ______” videos I’ve seen, this is by far the best one.
We spent last summer there and considering buying a property. I can't imagine how do you get outside and enjoy at - 40?????? What kind of shoes and coat one must have to survive there?
The reality is most of the time in winter it’s only -3, -4. If we get a real cold patch it might be a week or so at most
Damn your videos are amazing.Your videography man is topnotchhhhhhh
Heyyy thank you!!! Our teams ONLY goal is to make content that stands out!
Brad, you have done a great job. Following you from Brampton
Appreciate it!
Ok, after watching half video I found that you are promoting yourself. Best luck.
Great video and well put together as a person who has lived in Calgary it has good diversity and yes cheaper housing keep up the great content!
Awsome video! been thinking about moving to Calgary from Toronto.Maybe its time I make that move at least real estate is still a bit more effordable then T.O and Vancouver. Best video about calgary . Thx Brad
Thanks for checking it out and considering Calgary!
100%. Rents are insane
He doesn’t like this comment I wonder why😮
It's the same in Victoria. Complete bs
It's getting crazy in every city now. Big or small. Corporate and government greed mostly. Sorry for being a bummer. Good luck to all!

Thank you for this great video. Best of luck!
Brad this is a fabulous video but there is one correction - Calgary is Canada's 4th largest city. Vancouver is Canada's 3rd largest city. Calgary is awesome!
Well Calgary is actually technically #3 largest City, but the fourth largest metropolitan area behind Vancouver!

The people, the people, the people! I moved there from Toronto but to move back due to family reasons. Calgary made me feel at home without any hesitation. I always tell people that it's where I want to retire and counting down the months when I return to Calgary to resume life there and eventually retire. :) This video was awesome Brad. Well done!
Great video on Calgary..I first heard about Calgary as a kid because Bret “the hitman” Hart was from there.
Hometown Hero!
Hi Dear, just looking for advice. Few days ago i've been offered a job in oil&gas company called Enerplus. Do you know anything about this company?
Thank you for sharing we live in Montreal for the past 10 years and are planning to move to Calgary very soon
We'd love to assist you in finding a place when the time comes!
Did you shift? My husband got job offer in Calgary, he's currently working in Montreal , we're confused whether we should move or not
The video is great! Could you please tell me which communities are at 2:07 seconds and 5:30 seconds in the video? How much is the median house price there? Thanks!
Top notch presentation skills, editing and delivery
Thank you very much!
This video is so detailed , informative and well done!!!! Love it. Big up from 🇯🇲!!

Great..! such a beutful details McCallum...Thank you champ.
Thank you thank you!
Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
I am coming next year, thank you so much for your super informative video
Appreciate you checking it out!
Appreciate that. Glad you enjoyed it!
Great balanced video dude! Really enjoyed it!
Thanks so much! Glad you dig it!
We are now considering to move here from Toronto.
Great work Brad, sending this around to convince my friends to join me here!
Let’s bring them home!
@brad you have fully persuaded me! totally sold now
Great video Brad!
Love and respect from Colorado, USA.
Calgary reminds me of home.
They did a story a while back about matching CDN cities to US ones. Denver Colorado was most closely matched with Calgary.
The weather is a deal breaker for me. Also it's far away from other major locations
This is for a lot of people.
Dam you put so much energy in it respect yes I'm thinking moving next year I'll be hoping you could help me find a new home so can settle with my family tks
Haha thanks! We would love to help! Just email us at office@mccallumgroup.ca when the time is right!
Hey Brad. Great video. You definitely have peaked my interest, but reading the comments has given me second thoughts. Any videos on the rental market?
I like your presentation style, it is very interesting, and I will be needing your services soon.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Feel free to reach out to me if I can help. :)
9:52 Is it smog from the wildfires over the mountains?
What about the smog in general? Wildfires are expected to only get worse in the future.
