    Monica, I’m almost old enough to be your grandma. I watch you because I want to keep in touch with young people. What a great representative of your generation you are. My biggest mistake? Not believing in myself soon enough.

    Thanks for making this video Monica, it was lovely to see you reflect on mistakes you've made in that past. It's really wonderful to see how much you've grown since then. Your videos always make me smile, thanks for being such a positive influence on so many people, including myself.

    Okay, why is Monica such a real, perfectly imperfect human being. You are honestly goals on how I want to be around my 20s, and you've matured so much over the last few months. I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU MONICA. IT'S AWESOME TO SEE YOU'VE FOUND YOUR HAPPINESS IN THIS WORLD!

    I have to agree with your college mistake. I went to a jc and have been stuck there for a very long time. If I had choose to go straight to a 4 year I would not have this problem. Great video as always Monica.

    • @haley2121
      @haley2121 6 років тому +2

      bmartens1390 this comment is so hurtful because 10+ people have thumbs-ed it up, and it received a heart. Listen, just because community college didn’t work out for you, that doesn’t mean jc ducks&doesn’t lead to success. 4 years don’t guarantee anything either! Don’t blame your lack of action on jc, don’t be-little jc.

    • @bmartens2009
      @bmartens2009 6 років тому

      Haley you don’t know anything about my life or my schooling just by one comment I made. FYI I was only able to go to school for 4 years until I was required to go to work full time. So if I had gone to a 4 year right out of high school I would be done.

    • @haley2121
      @haley2121 6 років тому +1

      bmartens1390 ok sorry about that, but just for the record- you can’t blame me for reacting the way I did. Your first comment really did make it sound like you thought one couldn’t finish and transfer out of jc within 2 years, to a 4 year to finish the remaining 2.

    • @haley2121
      @haley2121 6 років тому +2

      bmartens1390 wishing you good luck with everything

    • @bmartens2009
      @bmartens2009 6 років тому +1

      Haley realistically now it is extremely hard to transfer with in 2 years where I live because it is different to get in to the classes that are needed. Thank you and good luck to you in your life.

    My mistake was getting attached to someone so much. Never let love take over you so much and be prepared to never expect to it last forever. I love someone and for the first half year we were good together, but then 2018 started and they completed changed. They rarely talk to me now, I kept trying to talk to them but I just gave up. We only say a word or 2 a day, or not even.

  • @cicilyboone
    @cicilyboone 6 років тому +3

    I loved this Monica! You're so wise and I agree with all of this. I used to look down on people who never left my hometown when in reality it's always what they wanted... it's just not what I wanted! How silly of me. After moving away and living on my own for 2 years I can totally see why someone would want to stay. Moving away is hard!

    One regret I have was actually college in a way. I spent 5 years there thinking I finally found what I wanted to do (being a writer), but years after college, I am a film actor and although I do writing on the side, acting I feel is my true passion. I definitely got the college experience but had so many weekends I didn't go out or have fun because I was overworking on something I wouldn't end up doing the rest of my life lol

    I'm 100% with you on the hometown thing a lot of us realize the opportunities and "bigger" things in this world than the place you grew up in. I can also so see that someone else's hometown might be my dream place in my hometown might be someone else's dream place. Although I wasn't offended by what you said I guess I can see how other people are. But I'm 100% with you still I'm ready to pursue something bigger than just being in my hometown getting a regular job when there are so many opportunities all over this country.

    the top biggest mistakes I made were getting into alcohol and allowing myself to get addicted to cigarettes. You shouldn't feel embarrassed for your mistakes, thats growing up. I grew up a gymnast as well, was one for 9 years, but once I stopped and got into a bad place, I let music help me. Now i'm going to school for music therapy and am looking to influence others as you do. Lets get it!!

    Totally agree with you on #5 (last one). I use to do that to - the, "if your area''s of interests/job/hobby are not the same as mine you're a total loser". I was young dumb and immature at that point to, but getting to know that you're wrong about this comes more from life experiences and maturity. When we're young we're so focused on developing our careers and finding out who we are we think that is what the world is about and revolves around. Then you start figuring stuff out and you let other stuff in - interests, reading, etc. You discover the world is filled with all types of fascinating things, people, and experience and you learn to really appreciate them (even if they aren't your favorite thing in the world you still see them as kind of cool and interesting (or at least acknowledge others like them).
    Disagree with you a bit on the college thing - the Greek life/fraternity thing isn't that big of a deal when you look back at at (at least I don't think so). If you thing college can make you smarter and grow you as a person you should definitely go. Yeah, the partying at this point in your life may not be fun or even an experience for you but learning stuff that you are genuinely passionate about will change you and make you a more fulfilled person.
    Thanks for the video - hope all is well.

    Thank you for admitting to your hometown comment. It hit close for me because I live an hour south from your hometown (which if I told you, you’d think it was even more “loser” 😭) after 10+ years living in Seattle area. I traded hours of sitting on public transportation and driving in traffic for more time with my family and a spacious property. I did enjoy my time in Seattle but if you don’t live right in the middle of the city you are losing a lot of time. When my time was my own it was much more fun. 😉 Enjoy it!

    One time, I got really insensitive and said some horrible things about vendors which are meant as a joke while I'm in a marketplace (which is very stupid of me). A vendor overheard me and scolded me in an angry but caring kind of way. I was really mad and ashamed of myself for thinking that way about vendors. So yeah, being mad and ashamed of yourself for doing the wrong thing is a good thing because you know that you're wrong and you're pretty sure that you'll never do that mistake EVER again.

    Number 1 is me but I choose not to go to college because of college debt. I don't want to work longer than expected to pay off my student loans. Plus I would be an undeclared major and I believe going to college is meant for people who really needs the degree for their job such as medical, engineers, etc.
