- In today's FGmods episode we change Callum's Oil Pump Gears.
Doing this will prevent them breaking when the car is under stress of high reving.
XR6 Turbo Falcon oil pump gears is actually really easy to do, and can save your barra.

I've been thinking about doing the oil pump gears with the engine in the car....now I know to pull it! Thanks!
Great videos, im learning. Too old and these are much different to building an old V8. Just love my barra turbo.
This is a must if your pushing serious boost, along with the usual must have upgrades for reliability and performance.
Hope yas remembered the sealant between where the rocker cover, timing cover and block meet, leaks heaps otherwise
I didn't show all the sealant going on, because it was a bit boring, but Dan is a pro and had everything sealed up perfectly before the engine went back in the car.
All out except for 2 engine mounts
Please explain extra oil pump loads from extra boost?
The pump gears are because some Barra oil pump gears shatter when you’re on limiter, not necessarily because of the turbo.
@@fgmods thanks, sounds more like abuse rather than use
My tuner told me it's a bigger issue for manuals as well. Limiter bashing and aggressive shifting shock loads the pump gears and they go boom.
Turbo part 2 soon?
So keen for it
Yeah well I filmed part 2 and then decided it’s not high enough quality
So I deleted it and will have to do it again
@@fgmods have fg na 2011 immaculate condition on 20z n lowered all blacked out waiting for part 2 my man 💪 staying tuned.

@@kilajescz4884 haha same here sort of, G6E for me. What part of nz are you?? I’m chch
@@samthestoryman3757 mean g I'm in wellington have u started buying turbo parts? Have u checked out t.i.performance website I'm thinking of getting that turbo kit for my fg. Chur bol
Did you put any sealer around the crank seal? Been told you should cause it leaks but sounds stupid 😂
definitely needs sealant between crank bolt/washer and key
Is there no gasket on the fg timing cover? Or sump
There is sealant. I just didn’t go in to much detail there because it was kind of boring.
What's all these Nuts and bolts left Over.............
`Great Work thanx guys...
Dropping the radiator would have been better and then the a/c
Not essential at all. The VERY rarely break on the autos and VERY rarerly break if the rev limiter isnt increased. Basically only needed if you are pushing over 550rwhp and sit on the limitor all day
Nah essential, they’re oopsy doopsy break all day kinda parts
@@fgmods Not rlly. If u sit on the limitor and do skids all day with an increased rev limitor and high boost then maybe.
Every motor is different. Some might get lucky and others not so lucky. I’ve heard of them shattering on stock power just shifting into 3rd gear on a freeway entry ramp...
A $400 part is better than a $6000 motor once it lets go.
Cheap insurance. I’d say it’s essential too
@@SirPezalot Never heard of anyone breaking them with stock power. They are not that weak.
@@lukesm5747
There’s even a few videos on a lot of the Ford forums of people demonstrating that even just dropping them from shoulder height onto the ground and they just shatter into a million pieces. Billet ones take it like a champ.
Well known weak point. They’re garbage from factory.
That looked expensive......
Ah that ol just leave that part there we can work around it, even tho only takes a few min to make life a whole lot easier.
Didn’t work out so well
Next time buy an AU
Nitrous is the best upgrade in my opinion.
patorleum grease lol,its vasaline
Automotive petroleum grease specifically for filling oil pump gears ;)
@@fgmodslol no such thing its simply vasaline
@@turbotorana4336 That's where the V product comes from the petroleum industry, therefore it is petroleum grease. Consumers would 'freak-out' if they knew how many products they use are from the petroleum industry. Plastic surgeons wipe V on new scars so they wont turn to a different colour to the patients skin tone from exposure to the sun. Good old 'Vaso'.
You realise packing the pump with grease is absolute nonsense.
Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. But I’ll go with what the mechanics say.
Can you explain why you think that? surely creating a vacuum would help suck oil
from the sump on start-up, because there was no oil in the pump or the feed lines
going to the sump. cheers
Jesus Christ aha yeah definitely easier to pull motor out
Yup would have taken maybe an hour to do if we just started with that
Am glad you tried to do it with the engine in. Been thinking of giving it ago myself but now after seeing that I won't bother 😂
It’s easier to do it in the car if you have the correct tools. And faster.
Any tips? Iv got plenty of tools. Anything special?
