  • In today's FGmods episode we change Callum's Oil Pump Gears.
    Doing this will prevent them breaking when the car is under stress of high reving.
    XR6 Turbo Falcon oil pump gears is actually really easy to do, and can save your barra.

    I've been thinking about doing the oil pump gears with the engine in the car....now I know to pull it! Thanks!

    Great videos, im learning. Too old and these are much different to building an old V8. Just love my barra turbo.

    Hope yas remembered the sealant between where the rocker cover, timing cover and block meet, leaks heaps otherwise

      I didn't show all the sealant going on, because it was a bit boring, but Dan is a pro and had everything sealed up perfectly before the engine went back in the car.

    Please explain extra oil pump loads from extra boost?

    • @fgmods
      @fgmods  3 роки тому +1

      The pump gears are because some Barra oil pump gears shatter when you’re on limiter, not necessarily because of the turbo.

      My tuner told me it's a bigger issue for manuals as well. Limiter bashing and aggressive shifting shock loads the pump gears and they go boom.

    Not essential at all. The VERY rarely break on the autos and VERY rarerly break if the rev limiter isnt increased. Basically only needed if you are pushing over 550rwhp and sit on the limitor all day

      Every motor is different. Some might get lucky and others not so lucky. I’ve heard of them shattering on stock power just shifting into 3rd gear on a freeway entry ramp...
      A $400 part is better than a $6000 motor once it lets go.

      There’s even a few videos on a lot of the Ford forums of people demonstrating that even just dropping them from shoulder height onto the ground and they just shatter into a million pieces. Billet ones take it like a champ.

      from the sump on start-up, because there was no oil in the pump or the feed lines
