My only intentions was for the motor to run cooler. Oh my did it make a huge difference. I have placed block of plates for the AIS on my street bikes but this is so simple. Pull the hose off. Hey man ! thats awesome, congrats on the new machine ! So the AIS "delete" mod is just plugging that hose I showed in the video then putting it right back on where it was before. Great video guys, but I'm a bit confused about the EHS tuner? At the outset of the video, you say that it wasn't really installed to improve performance, but in your comments and replies here, you say that it alters fuel/air mixture, so doesn't that improve overall performance, as well as serving to cool it down? Thanks.
Hey man ! yeah it changes the air/fuel mixture which makes the motor not run so hot (less lean) so it's not really something to make it rev more or get more fuel or something like that.
What years has the exhaust hose connected to the fresh air intake. Is it on the 686, 700 2014 model? Happy new year, Santa already gone so no Merry Christmas this time.
Hey man ! 2008-2015 I dont believe have the AIS. 2016-2018 have the 708 and the AIS. 2019+ they went back to the 686 motor and i'm not sure if it has the AIS or not. Merry Christmas to you too !
Hey man ! Yes I find my fan doesn't turn on half as much, the tuner changes the air/fuel ratio making it run less lean or richer, which in turn makes the motor cooler.
Hey Kyle ! the Tuner will adjust your fuel/air ratio among other things, Which makes it not run so LEAN, which makes the engine itself run cooler. If your motor runs very lean (usually b/c its high performance OR in my case, they want it to pass government emission testing, it will run Hot, Have you ever ridden with sport bikes like a Raptor or 450R at night? their header pipes will glow red b/c they are running hot (they are higher performance motors). I hope I explained that good enough, if not a quick Google search might be able to explain it better.
Maritimer I ride my kodiak 450 and my buddy has his grizz 700.. both new. Both correct fuel ratios from manufacturer. Yeah we ride at night. Got a 708 and 686 both never hot...it’s all good man. Just can’t relate
The tunner is worth every penny it made my 2020 grizzly 700 run 10 or so degrees cooler and has more power it helped alot I was sceptical at first but it made a big difference on my machine
Hey Tim ! Thats awesome to hear man ! I didn't notice any power difference, maybe the throttle response got better but no real power gains. Maybe your 686 is just better than my 708 hahaha I find mine runs a lot cooler now too.
Air Injection System - it pumps air into the exhaust to help burn off excess fuel, which is the popping/backfire noise. they do it to help the motor pass emission testing.
Has your grizz ever stalled on you on a cold run with half frozen puddles ? Mine seemed like it wasn't getting fuel that well and then stalled started again but was up and down while on the gas ?I also put that same tuner in and ais block seems to work better definitely less back fire
Hey man ! no my grizzly hasn't ever stalled on me, that sounds weird, maybe an electrical thing if it happened in water... Yeah the backfire has pretty much all gone now, it's great.
@@ivanfitch9158 have you rerouted your vent hose that comes off the gas tank right under the seat? That hose runs straight down and vents right above the skid plate. When it gets under water, it can make it stall. Most are rerouting the vent up under the front rack with the other vents.
Can't remove those warning stickers! That's like pulling the tags off a mattress, LOL!! Your quad looks so sweet in camo, nice and clean under those panels too. I shared your cleaning video last year with my son, hoping he see's the light and keeps his Brute Force clean after his rides. Hope you had a Merry Christmas.
hahahaha oh man I don't know why I waited so long to take them off, looks so much better. lol Oh we'll I hope he does too !! gotta keep the Rads on the brutes clean or they will have an over heating issue, just something to keep an eye on. Merry Christmas and happy riding with your Son !
Hey Chris ! the AIS Delete wont help the glowing header, the EHS tuner would be better for that. The AIS is just a thing that puts cleaner air into the exhaust to help it pass emission tests. but it's always causes the popping on deceleration, by blocking it off it cuts back on the popping.
Hey Nate, I think I mentioned it in the video but the AIS delete will stop a lot of the popping or backfire sound on deceleration. it blocks off the airway that sends fresh air into the exhaust which is used to burn off any unburned fuel..... which is the popping/backfire sound you'll hear on the 708 motors.
Hey Scott ! Yes I ordered direct from EHS and mine came pretty quick if I remember correct, but there wasn't COVID going on either haha that sucks yours is stuck in customs.
Hey man great video! I ride a 2018 grizzly and am looking into doing a few of these mods as well. I was wondering where you purchased your EHS tuner, and if it was from the states what kind of shipping and duty fees did you pay? Wicked content!
Hey Mitch ! thanks a lot man ! Yes I ordered my tuner right from EHS, as far as I know it's the only place you can get the EHS tuner is directly from them (website) I cant remember for the life of me how much it cost or anything. I doubt duty would be much b/c it's not very heavy.
Hey Chris ! removing it allows your suspension to travel further. for my style of riding (slower pace, trail rides) it's perfect, keeps more rubber on the ground. if you do mostly fast pace, fire roads, ripping around corners then you might want to keep it on, keeping it on will stop body roll around corners, so less chance of roll over. BUT if you're an experienced rider, you know how to lean into the turns and you probably wont have an issue even at high speed cornering.
Hey buddy ! I thought I mentioned in the video.. but removing the sway bar will allow the suspension to extend more, and it will keep more tire on the trail while the bike is articulating over different obstacles. The sway bar is really just there to not allow the suspension to "lean" while cornering at high speeds. (makes the bike more stable at high speed cornering) But if you aren't a novice rider, you know to lean your body weight into the turn while at high speeds.... some people don't know that, and thats why they put the sway bar on. I'm really glad I removed it.
I have the exact same machine (except in Green) and installed the EHS Tuner and an R2 Tip on the exhaust immediately. Only left them on for a couple of weeks and then removed both. A bit loud with the tip and I lost about 30 kms in fuel range. Now at almost 4000 kms, and bike has run great with no popping on decel and does not seem to run hot. This is just what I found, others may be different. Be curious to know if you find if your fuel economy goes out the window with the tuner installed. Stock I get approx 160-170 kms per tank.
Hey man ! you got 160-170km to a tank of fuel? that sounds a bit high... the most I've ever tried with my bike was 130km and it was pretty much empty, I've never heard of anyone getting 160-170km range thats awesome. i'll keep ya posted !
It’s easy to figure out. You don’t have to run it dry . Begin with a full tank and go riding. Then divide the number of Kms you rode by the number of litres it took to refill the tank. That will give you the kms per litre. Then multiply that by 18.2 , the fuel capacity. I consistently get 160-170 kms and so do many other people . Read the forums. Like I said that is what I get you can get whatever you get. It was the same on my 2014.
@@Maritimer we have gotten over 150km on a tank on our 18 and 19 Grizzlies . The guage will sometimes say empty (no bars left) but when we fuel them up at a gas station they only take like 13 or 14 liters so there is still a good 4 liters left in the take even when the guage reads empty. I had a guy tell me he has went nearly 200 km on a tank. Logically it depends on how your riding it of course aswell. When we are on a long ride my wife and and always ride relatively easy you could say so to conserve gas basically . Great video btw
Yes Sir ! I like it so far. EHS Tuner seemed to improve the throttle response and my fan doesnt turn on too much, so it must have made the motor run less lean. the AIS delete has pretty much stopped all backfire/popping on deceleration. and the sway bar removal really lets the suspension work, and reach further, keeping the tires on the ground.
Maritimer my dyno tune on the power commander 5 improved the throttle response greatly as well, worth it for me . And the sway bar delete is a lot better I find as well. Glad your enjoying it
Same reason to do it on a car, better wheel articulation for a smoother ride and better traction offroad. (At the cost of worse stability when taking corners at speed)
I think these guys pretty much explained it, if you look at the new Jeep Gladiator trucks, they have the ability to disconnect the front sway bar quickly for trail rides. it lets your suspension reach further while keeping wheels on the ground (traction) just need to be mindful of the body lean when riding fast.
Pa Mil better off trail riding smoothness and control. Especially climbing hills keeping all tires on ground and not being as tippy in flexing situations
Hey Todd ! To be honest I don't notice it on regular riding.... especially in the winter, the trails are pretty smooth. I'm guessing this summer I will notice it.
#PROLyFEtheLONGofIT HAHAHAHA! Quite a basement! 2XMRs, DRZ, X2, a sled, and a couple Grizzers.. Cool vid bud! I've personally always found that you gotta add just a touch of fuel to most programmers.. Be interesting to see if you go the same way with the EHS..
I run duro powergrip v2 as I mostly trail run and they are a good radial tire for the terrain I run on 90 percent of the time if you mud more often than a radial mud tire might be more what you want . New big Horn 3.0 look pretty sweet they have a directional front tire and more of the zig zag pattern for the back, I do find having the zig zag pattern in front it slips a bit more in the snow
I run kenda bear claw k299 cant beat them they seem to last forever ive got over 3000miles on a set an thats rock crawling asphault mudding u name it they excell in all conditions
Hey man, I thought I explained din the video but I could be wrong. I removed the sway bar to let the suspension be able to travel fully. It makes a great improvement on trail rides and slow technical trails. the only reason they put sway bars on is so when guys are riding fast around turns (and don't know enough to lean Into the turn) the sway bar doesn't allow the machines suspension to roll to the outside, along with the riders weight, which will cause a roll over. if you are experienced, and know to lean into the turns you'll have no problem.
Nice !! I love the Raptors ! they are a surprisingly good trail machine, they have decent ground clearance for being a race bike (comparing to the LTR's and 450R ondas and stuff) My buddies had them when we were growing up, My friend still has his 770 Raptor (bored out) with a stroker kit in it, it's a wild machine haha I think you'll like the smooth-ness of the Grizzly on a full day of riding over the Raptor haha
Hey Buddy ! I'd love to have some Elka's but I cant spend that kinda money on it, especially b/c I'll probably end up getting a SXS in the future..... I wish I could have both.
Check out MrCuervo racing videos on here, he will sell you a block off plate to totally eliminate the AIS, did my 2017 Kodiak, eliminated the solenoid and hose all the way to the airbox. Was pretty easy.
Hey man, I thought i mentioned in the video but removing the sway bar will allow the suspension to travel more, which keeps more rubber on the trail when you're riding technical trails. the only real reason the sway bar is there was for high speed cornering.... people were flipping their machines b/c they weren't leaning there weight Into the turn.... all the weight would naturally goto the outside and the bike would roll over. The new Toyota Tacoma and Jeep Gladiator trucks have quick disconnect on the sway bars to help with off road driving. I';ll never go back, I found it much smoother.

Does the 686 run lean two
What years has the exhaust hose connected to the fresh air intake.
@@Maritimer they do have it I just did it on my 700 2019
So does the EHS tuner actually help make the bike run cooler?
Hey man ! Yes I find my fan doesn't turn on half as much, the tuner changes the air/fuel ratio making it run less lean or richer, which in turn makes the motor cooler.
How does the tuner allow you to run cooler without fan turning on as much? What’s the process?
Hey Kyle ! the Tuner will adjust your fuel/air ratio among other things, Which makes it not run so LEAN, which makes the engine itself run cooler.
So You don't find the fan comes on, on your 708 more than your 686?
Maritimer I can’t really say, I’ve never driven them the same way for same amount of time to compare. But the fan seems to work well when on.
Thank you for posting this helpful video
Hey ! no problem, thank you for watching !
What is the AIS and what's the point of deleting it?
Air Injection System - it pumps air into the exhaust to help burn off excess fuel, which is the popping/backfire noise. they do it to help the motor pass emission testing.
hello did you find a difference to delete ais ?
Yup, it has seemed to stop pretty much all backfire/popping on deceleration. which used to drive me crazy.
Somtimes if water splashes on the motor. Steam will rise and get sucked into the air intake and stall the motor
@@steevesevan thanks good to know it was icy and cold so maybe that was all it was
@@ivanfitch9158 have you rerouted your vent hose that comes off the gas tank right under the seat? That hose runs straight down and vents right above the skid plate. When it gets under water, it can make it stall. Most are rerouting the vent up under the front rack with the other vents.
@Gatorman10 I have not tried that but I will now thanks for the tip 👍
Is there a EHS tuner for the 2017 kodiak 700
Yes I believe they do ! I put a link to the EHS site in the description.
What exactly do the AIS delete do? Like my header tends to glow, would it help that?
Hey Chris ! the AIS Delete wont help the glowing header, the EHS tuner would be better for that.
The AIS is just a thing that puts cleaner air into the exhaust to help it pass emission tests. but it's always causes the popping on deceleration, by blocking it off it cuts back on the popping.
Maritimer thanks for the info!
What are the benefits of the ais delete?
Hey Nate, I think I mentioned it in the video but the AIS delete will stop a lot of the popping or backfire sound on deceleration. it blocks off the airway that sends fresh air into the exhaust which is used to burn off any unburned fuel..... which is the popping/backfire sound you'll hear on the 708 motors.
@@Maritimer yea, I'm kinda a fan of the backfires so I think I'll hold off. I was justing wondering if it was increased cooling or maybe a lil power.
Did you order you ehs directly from ehs racing?. Just wonder how long it took to show up. Mines been stuck in customs for five days now.
Hey Scott ! Yes I ordered direct from EHS and mine came pretty quick if I remember correct, but there wasn't COVID going on either haha that sucks yours is stuck in customs.
@@Maritimer how much did you get dinged with duty...lol
@@scottbrake9129 Oh I cant remember now... i have terrible memory lol
Does the grizzly seem to run cooler now. Great video.
Hey ! yes it does for sure ! the fan doesnt come on as much and when it does it doesn't stay on for so long. Tuner was worth the money. thanks !
@@Maritimer where did you get the tuner from? Thanks in TX
@@masonxtentacion9093 Direct order rom EHS website. I think I put a link in the description but I cant remember.
Yes I ordered my tuner right from EHS, as far as I know it's the only place you can get the EHS tuner is directly from them (website)
I cant remember for the life of me how much it cost or anything. I doubt duty would be much b/c it's not very heavy.
What was the reasoning for taking the rear away bar out ?
Hey Chris ! removing it allows your suspension to travel further. for my style of riding (slower pace, trail rides) it's perfect, keeps more rubber on the ground.
if you do mostly fast pace, fire roads, ripping around corners then you might want to keep it on, keeping it on will stop body roll around corners, so less chance of roll over. BUT if you're an experienced rider, you know how to lean into the turns and you probably wont have an issue even at high speed cornering.
maybe a dumb question but why delete sway bar?
Hey buddy ! I thought I mentioned in the video.. but removing the sway bar will allow the suspension to extend more, and it will keep more tire on the trail while the bike is articulating over different obstacles. The sway bar is really just there to not allow the suspension to "lean" while cornering at high speeds. (makes the bike more stable at high speed cornering)
But if you aren't a novice rider, you know to lean your body weight into the turn while at high speeds.... some people don't know that, and thats why they put the sway bar on. I'm really glad I removed it.
Oh okay gotcha, thanks for the reply
And how did you like it all or not ?
Glad your enjoying it
thanks man !
Why remove the sway bars? Just wondering
Same reason to do it on a car, better wheel articulation for a smoother ride and better traction offroad.
(At the cost of worse stability when taking corners at speed)
is exactly that, I did it on my 2010 and I am very happy with it, despite everything the stability remains good.
Thank you I had no idea that actually pretty cool
What the big advantage to plugging that hose ? You going racing or something !!
haha stops the backfire/popping on deceleration on the 708 grizzlies.
Hey James, great vid, just wondering the reason for removing the sway bar? Happy New Year buddy!
Pa Mil better off trail riding smoothness and control. Especially climbing hills keeping all tires on ground and not being as tippy in flexing situations
even explained it pretty good buddy, it's nice for the trail rides for sure. keeps more tires on the ground.
So it's not bad for trail riding ?
Hey buddy, how are you liking the sway bar removal now that you've got some seat time without it?
I know eh !!!! Im always jealous when I goto his place haha
Can you do a video discussing tires? Why you run Big Horns and what other tires you see people run often or what you would recommend. Thanks John
Bighorns are a really good all around tire. There not great at any one type of riding. You have to pick a tire that matches you type of riding.
Thanks for the replies. I've been thinking about the htr bear claws but open to other options.
A guy I work with has those they are a very good tire and last a long time
Why you removed the bar
Hey man, I thought I explained din the video but I could be wrong. I removed the sway bar to let the suspension be able to travel fully. It makes a great improvement on trail rides and slow technical trails. the only reason they put sway bars on is so when guys are riding fast around turns (and don't know enough to lean Into the turn) the sway bar doesn't allow the machines suspension to roll to the outside, along with the riders weight, which will cause a roll over. if you are experienced, and know to lean into the turns you'll have no problem.
@@Maritimer thank you
No Problem !! thanks for watching !
@@Maritimer cool I'm actually picking up a 2020 grizzly 700 eps se trading my Raptor 700r se
Nice !! I love the Raptors ! they are a surprisingly good trail machine, they have decent ground clearance for being a race bike (comparing to the LTR's and 450R ondas and stuff) My buddies had them when we were growing up, My friend still has his 770 Raptor (bored out) with a stroker kit in it, it's a wild machine haha
I think you'll like the smooth-ness of the Grizzly on a full day of riding over the Raptor haha
3:59 I think that connector is the intake air temperature sensor.
yes I believe you're right !
It's actually the injector, your plugging in a piggy back tunner, into your injector, which tells it to add more fuel
👍📽
thanks Wayne !
Looks like a premeditated insurance claim . ( the basement)
hahahahaha !!!! Maybe.... lol Doubtful though, he likes his bikes more than anyone I know haha
Now maybe just throw some Elkas on there.
Hey Buddy ! I'd love to have some Elka's but I cant spend that kinda money on it, especially b/c I'll probably end up getting a SXS in the future..... I wish I could have both.
@@Maritimer Roger that. Damn that reality stuff.
Check out MrCuervo racing videos on here, he will sell you a block off plate to totally eliminate the AIS, did my 2017 Kodiak, eliminated the solenoid and hose all the way to the airbox. Was pretty easy.
Hey ! thanks man !! I might check him out if my AIS block doesn't work, seems to be good for now though.
Why do you remove the sway bar? As a mod
