    I have the 2016 grizzley SE model that came with the 708cc. It came with the hand warmers and windshield and seat warmer. I deleted my AIS right up top in air box. I plugged the hose with a piece of round stock and hose clamped it. Then attached hose to air box again and clamped it . Same idea u have but i did it up higher. Love the grizzley. I got a 2021 cf moto cforce 800xc, 2019 Can Am 650 xt and a good ol Bombadier DS650 Baja, and a polaris outlaw 525s. My sons took over the sport machines lol. And being I am 54 I enjoy the 4x4's. We tried the sxs thing but really never cared for it. All the kids and wife like atving better. There is something about running your own machine and riding tight trails and woods. Has really kept us tight as a family enjoying riding and camping. We load down the racks with gear and just go. Enjoy your videos, we sit together and enjoy watching your trips when we aint out riding.

      Hi Michael, Oh man you do have a lot of machines. I know what you mean about getting older and wanting the utility quad for comfort and the automatic or convenience.
      That’s cool you have one of the Polaris outlaw 525.
      One of the guys we ride with Herm he had one of those and I had the Honda 700 xx
      That is so cool that you and your family would rather ride quads then the SXS’s
      All of my family is the same way, really have no interest in a SXS
      Excellent comment thanks for sharing all of that info with us.

    Wow that filter is pretty caked up! But those reusable filters that you oil up can get like that pretty quickly on these dusty trails. Regardless, I am still considering going to a reusable filter over a disposable filter for a few reasons.
    Well, I don't have a Yamaha but still watched, haha. Happy New Year!

    So, correct me if I've got this wrong, I'm not a mechanic and just trying to understand: The Air Intake System (AIS) mixes cool air with the hot exhaust, but this causes backfiring and this is why you are modifying it right? What exactly is the AIS designed to do? What is it's purpose?
    Nice idea on the air filter mods. I looked at my buddy Brett's new Grizzly after watching DirtObs video about this Yamaha air filter issue and to tell you the truth, I didn't think it was that bad of a system. Yes, I think the Honda system is less fail proof, but I honestly didn't think the Yamaha system looked like it need to be replaced. Then again, like I said earlier, I'm not a mechanic, so what the hell do I know - LOL
    Thanx for the video buddy. I learned some STUFF tonight!

    • @kcatv9556
      @kcatv9556  Рік тому +2

      Hey buddy! The AIS does just that allows some air to enter the exhaust from inside the air filter. This was Yamaha’s gimmick to pass the emissions test, that is what it was all about emissions standards.
      The problem is somehow it let dirt get inside the air filter therefore it would be getting dirt into your engine.
      So that’s the reason why everybody likes to delete that valve. Woohoo!
      Thanks for checking out the video buddy looking forward to your video tonight.

    It seems like you would benefit from using an outerwear’s pre-filter being that water, mud is getting splashed into the opening of your airbox intake.

    • @kcatv9556
      @kcatv9556  Рік тому +1

      Hi Jody with the location of the air intake snorkel on the air box lid it’s very unlikely mud or water would get up that high. Thanks for checking out the video.
      The outerwear would keep some of the dirt off the air filter but it might plug up since I don’t clean it very often. Lol

    Interesting video. I didn't even know what the AIS valve did, had to look it up. I'm curious if the sportsmans have anything like that. I watched one video a few years ago where someone recommended wiping the inside of the air filter box housing with used oil just to help keep some dirt from even getting to the air filter. I've done it and dirt definitely sticks to it but not sure if it really makes a difference or not.

    • @kcatv9556
      @kcatv9556  Рік тому +1

      Hey Buddy! Yeah that AIS valve is kind of a gimmick. Yamaha’s attempt to make it pass emissions. I’m not sure if Polaris sportsman has one on there or not?
      Yeah the oil really collects the dirt, if I remember right Polaris has a paper air filter?
      With the Yamaha using oiled air filter it really collects the dirt!

    Genius ideas here. Both the blockoff allen bolt and and the tape! I'd actually like to know what filter oil you are using? EHS (who makes the kit) didn't bother to email me back with some questions I had so I would love to not give them any money. FYI you can buy that filter cage with the wider updated seal for about $40. I bought a second one for my 19 grizzly just to have on hand. Would also like to know what tricks you have up your sleeve for cleaning the air filters?

    • @kcatv9556
      @kcatv9556  Рік тому +1

      The filter oil I use is the bel-ray filter oil. I like it seems to be good stuff really tacky kind of a pain in the butt using though.
      Cleaning the filter I take it to my work and put it in the parts washer solvent dissolves the oil and the dirt right off the filter.
      Trying to wash it in the kitchen sink with soap and water doesn’t dissolve the filter oil very well.
      Had no luck with that.
