@@jannemaasola4423 I agree 👍💯 , made in Japan ,deep 🟣 purple is the standard for live performances especially in the metal rock styles. But, this performance is pretty dam good 😊 🌈 Rainbow is rockin on all cylinders.
This is just awesome! im 15 and my dad just gave me his old record collection, so right away i went out and bought a turntable. I found this album not knowing much about it. Put it on and its just magical! Thank you Dad for showing me the greatness of rainbow. I love rock and Roll and i can not let it die in my generation! RIP DIO AND LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL
I found rainbow when my uncle gave me his record collection for my 15th birthday. There amongst Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and numerous other records was this old yellow record with four mens faces drawn on. I had no idea who it was. I sat the record on the old dusty turntable and moved the needle over. Then bursting and crackling from my cheap speakers was the sound of pounding drums and the legendary Vocals of Ronnie James Dio (R.I.P.) to this song. Is and always will be my favorite band!
Blackmore + Dio could have been the best Duo all-time Blackmore is easily one of the best guitarist in history Dio's Voice is unmatched , warm and powerful
Same if Tony Iommi and Dio stayed together! I get shit for it all the time, but I am very vocal about it... Heaven and Hell is by far and away Black Sabbath's greatest record!!!
There is no way to adequately summarise just how big a deal this man was. He was almost before my time, and I missed out on seeing him live by a hair's breadth, but even so, he's been more important to me than almost anyone I've ever met. He was more than just a man, and he will never truly die. Long live the king.
2:54 - 3:20 is a masterclass in storytelling. Such emotion in such simple evocations. What a frontman and what a voice. Oh to have been there that night.... RIP
Such a loss. Dio and Powell. Showmen to the core and among the best collaborations Ritchie enjoyed, in my opinion. Dio was both innovative and simultaneously true to the roots of hard rock and, eventually, metal. I missed out, narrowly, on seeing him on stage. As I did with Jon Lord.
I agree - a big loss - although Ian Paice is also a great drummer :-) (I was fortunate enough to see Jon Lord with DP, but also missed out in seeing RJD live.)
I just LOVE the interplay between Ronnie and the audience. So much fun happening there! :) I also enjoy when he switches up words/changes lyrics around as that is creative improvisation on the fly. And it keeps things fresh for me, to hear him not just sticking with the single variety from the recorded album version. Who wants to go to a concert and hear THAT?! Not me!
what's the point of having backing vocals when Ronnie is singing? his voice is so dominant and powerful, without a single doubt the greatest vocalist of all time...
Agreed they had a good run with RJD, it's such a shame that he wanted to go pop and Rainbow had to break up. But i'm not complaining, we got Dio to still continue to do his thing with his own band.
+Paolo Jan Pascua you are right. best line up of rainbow with dio. Ritchie and cozy Powell I just imagine the great music they would have composed but unfortunately Richie preferred pop music.
So much fun watching these old clips! Music as it was intended to be! Ronnie James DIO, you rocked our faces off no matter what you sang or whom you worked with. I still cannot believe he never had a vocal lesson in his life! Just pure raw talent. WOW!
I am very sad, my God, will one of the greatest of all time, I have no words ........ today is a very sad day for me and millions of fans and followers of Hard and Heavy. My respect and admiration for THE GOD OF HEAVY ROCK, THE VOICE OF RAINBOW, The man with the Magic Voice Ronnie James Dio rest in peace your music it´s alive in our hearts \m/
I discovered Dio in the 1980s I had his solo albums then I did research and discovered he was in Black Sabbath. Then the ultimate miracle (so to speak) I discovered a band named Rainbow with Ritchie Blackmore I said WOW that’s the guitarist for Deep Purple, then it all clicked ⚡️🙌🏼..And now at 57 I’m still a big fan of Ronnie James Dio ..that incredible voice! Thank you Ronnie see you again someday 🤘🏼
I've seen this man live twice. I feel content that I had the chance to see this legend before he threw in his last towel. Hope to see you again, sometime Ron.
REST IN PEACE, DIO! We thank you so much what you did for us with your music! Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, DIO and everything else! I will miss you! It´s sad that one of the best rocksingers of all time passed away! Keep Rockin in Heaven or Hell or wherever you are....I´m sure you´re making yourself a good time!
Makes me sad the fact that I can't see the man Live! But i feel filled with joy everytime i listen to him, might be in Rainbow, BS or his lead career... Just can't explain! I'm teleported to another dimension where music is all that matters 🤘
Yeah Ronnie....long live Rock'n'Roll, long live R.J.Dio,long live Rainbow and the Man in Black! Good Music never dies! Long live Rock'n'Roll...for ever and ever and all Eternity!
Fuck yeah! Our legends pass on, but they'll never die! They live in every single line, every time you play these songs. Long Live Ritchie Blackmore! Long Live Rock N Fuckin' Roll! And LONG LIVE RONNIE JAMES DIO!
Ronnie... Ritchie...and Cozy... The Voice...The Guitar...and the best there ever was on Drums... I saw this concert and 3 others on this tour. It's a shame what's happened to the music today. No inspiration, just a slave to the grind. WTF, wake up and go back to the roots, back to where it all began...live it and learn again. Peace people.... Pat
Rainbow 1977
Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar
Ronnie J. Dio - Vocals
Bob Daisley - Bass
Cozy Powell - Drums
Dave Stone - Keyboards
That lineup is damn near untouchable
great!
what formation ah! awesome...
Great line up, wished they were able to make another album or two with this extremely talented group.
Without a doubt this is one of the greatest moments in rock history
but Deep Purple´s Made in Japan version of strange kind of woman beats this😂

Made in Japan is gold standard for live performance ...but this is also fantastic show
Really! The intro is a ripoff of Tush by ZZ Top or The ZZ Tops or Top of The Pops or Top of The Poppers.
@@jannemaasola4423 No close, this is clearly better.

"Billions" played this on the closing credits this past Sunday- I was so happy to hear an old friend. RIP Brother Ronnie!

What a damned fuckin great band and also great tour.

I saw Rainbow live. It was my very best hardrock live-concert !
