How Ian Paice fill the sound of the greatest live band in history is a masterpiece! The “Mandrake Root” part is something that is unreachable by other bands
Saw them in Anaheim in '72 on their Machine Head tour. Amazing! They performed much more as a unit than in 1973, when I saw them in April at the Long Beach Arena. Internal tensions had clearly risen to the surface, particularly evident in the body language between Gillan and Blackmore. I got the distinct impression the band was merely going through the motions, as we say. I've attended probably 100 concerts over the years and that '73 show was the only one I can remember where a headlining band didn't come out for at least one encore. Two months later, Deep Purple mark II was no more.

@@antoniobanderas9769 Your brother has good taste in music, so have you, as well. Keep on rocking! Salute you and your brother, from Sweden. Take care!
This is the template for all heavy metal bands that ever existed! When you stop to think how original and groundbreaking their sound was, it is quite remarkable. They were like a rolling freight train...unstoppable and fearsome...almost supernatural.
@@stevenjosephs9 Yes, Black Sabbath was also a hugely influential band with incredibly talented musicians. However, their approach to the music was very different from the beginning. Many feel that Deep Purple literally created what became known as 'heavy metal' with the album 'Machine Head.' I think of Black Sabbath as more hard rock than heavy metal. There is a difference.
They were all at at their personal peaks at the same time and same place. No one needed to cover for anyone else. Everyone pulls their load like a true band should. Adore them!
@curtispeters8296 literally Noone has said that Deep Purple invented metal. Black Sabbath created metal by writing music with the sole intention of invoking fear, and dread. That is the true foundation of metal. It was only until the NWOBHM that things sped up and became our more modern understanding of metal. Deep Purple doesn't fit into any of those categories, as they are much more rooted in blues rock than anything else.
@@Noah-gq7pqthat’s good you can and I bet it’s so fun. I am not musically inclined but I love to listen to it, pretty much all genres except for barbershop quartet and the heavy metal that they just roar and you can’t understand a word they say. The music I like just not the singing.

Amazing all of them. Ian is as seductive as Jim Morrison, just loveeeeeeeeee his voice. Out of this world the chemistry between them. Masterpiece
I can see that. I'm not into men, but I can see that.
Yeah...
Very handsome back then. Always a great vocalist.
@@josephpacetexas he's not talking about being gay, he is talking about the mental connection musicians have when they put their ideas together and create something good.
How Ian Paice fill the sound of the greatest live band in history is a masterpiece! The “Mandrake Root” part is something that is unreachable by other bands
Yup, single pedal. They didn't have double pedals back then. Totally incredible!
Thank you so much for letting us enjoy the gig with my all time favourite band with the best and the most handsome singer ever.
Outstanding band. No doubt. The 70's really rocked.
'70s were all about the bad economy and great music.
Amazing Deep Purple
Just Perfect
Loved Purple for years...still play their tunes...
Deep Purple!
John Lord... King of the keyboard 🎹
Please watch Keith Emerson play an Knife Edge. Outrageous!
++++++
Toujours un grand plaisir, de d'écoute ❤
wow if i had a time machine I would go back to be at this concert! Incredible performance!
@@kens.5095 nice story Ken,I saw them play Perth 1971,I was a 31 year young kid, on the bill were a couple of other groups Manfred Mann, Free, this concert was at Perth Aquatic centre and when they played smoke on the water, I can still see kids by dozens jump in the pool. Now in my 83rd year and have recently been diagnosed with aggressive Lung cancer, one thing for sure is that I've lived through the greatest music ever made. Hi from Perth Australia 😎👋🎵🎶🎵🦘
Back when musical art was original and creative.
Back when they actually had talent.
Best rock band ever! Ritchie, Jon, Ian, Roger and Gillan. EPIC in the studio and on stage!
DP mark 2 the best ever.
@@justinthyme3396 Classic line up.
One of them. That was a GREAT era. Woulda loved to have seen them.
Best ever !? My bloody ass.
I was 18 when they did this tour. Was totally blown away.
we started to know big bands like deep purple since we were still in high school in 1973, it's really extraordinary that the power of rock music is. I am a fanatic of this world class band.
This is hard rock at it´s best. You can not top this, the greatest band, ever existed. Deep Purple, YES!
Must be a template for that comment, insert favorite group.

I grown up , listening to Deep Purple! Thx to my older brother. Stay safe & blessings from the Sonoran Desert 🌵 Mexico 🇲🇽 🌞 🌴 🦈 🐳
@@antoniobanderas9769 Your brother has good taste in music, so have you, as well. Keep on rocking! Salute you and your brother, from Sweden. Take care!
at *_its_* best
This is rock, blues, soul, classic, tears and sweat and smoke...
They are really monsters and Gillan really unreachable...
One of the best band EVER
I was very impressed by Gillan's vocals! Quite the good voice that night!!!
@@straycatannie5868 his voice was starting to deteriorate in that time.
@@ZARATUSTRA1780 didn't know Richie sang....
@@straycatannie5868 you said Gillan, not Blackmore, or Ritchie. 😂
This is the template for all heavy metal bands that ever existed! When you stop to think how original and groundbreaking their sound was, it is quite remarkable. They were like a rolling freight train...unstoppable and fearsome...almost supernatural.
Black S & D Purple
@@stevenjosephs9 Yes, Black Sabbath was also a hugely influential band with incredibly talented musicians. However, their approach to the music was very different from the beginning. Many feel that Deep Purple literally created what became known as 'heavy metal' with the album 'Machine Head.' I think of Black Sabbath as more hard rock than heavy metal. There is a difference.
Still are
They were all at at their personal peaks at the same time and same place.
I really miss the keyboards or organ you don’t hear that in todays music and haven’t heard it in bands for forever. I really wish they’d come back
me to i can play that stuff its fun
@@Noah-gq7pqthat’s good you can and I bet it’s so fun. I am not musically inclined but I love to listen to it, pretty much all genres except for barbershop quartet and the heavy metal that they just roar and you can’t understand a word they say. The music I like just not the singing.
Love this...
I was 11 years old...that year...now...I'm 59 ...Feb 8..2021
Brilliant legendary musicians! Richie is a talent from God❤
