I saw them play on this tour - Glasgow Apollo, aged 15. Dio was a fantastic singer, one of the best. Blackmore was less impressive tbh, but maybe he had an off night. Saw Gary Moore play with Thin Lizzie a few years later at the same venue - still the best I've ever seen.
This is why Blackmore is probably my favorite guitar player of this era. Love his spontaneity, phrasing, feel... out of nowhere, unpredictable, yet highly enjoyable to listen to.
Yea, for me it’s not a out ‘the best”, although Richie is one of the absolute all time greats. It’s about who I want to listen to. He’s so melodic, creative, and bad ass at the same time. Some of the best riffs and solos, but mostly he’s just just an amazing musician.
Dio and Blackmore were such a great match. One thing you could say about both of them is that when they went up on stage to perform live, they didn't leave a damn thing behind in the studio. You got both of them at their peak, at there best. People with that talent are born to perform live. They don't need the support of editing and engineering to do their thing and make it sound good. If you ran into them both at a party, and had them sit down, and handed Blackmore a cheap acoustic guitar, what you'd still get would be absolute genius.

What a voice! Ronnie Dio not only had the chops but he was one of the best frontmen. I saw this tour in Ohio once and Ritchie Blackmore destroyed about 4 Stratocasters.
I saw them late 70's Chicago Amphitheater. One of my first concerts , snuck out, my "rich" friend w/ a car drove. My parents thought I was at a religious youth group. I' m lucky I made home safe. So young and naive ( arena was ima tough neighborhood). Great times, all about the music. RJD was a legend.
I like how he recites the great lyrics (after Starstruck, at about 11:20), like a poem; and the early mention of his great song Night People (~12:40), to be released many years after this live. He had things settled in his mind, always intrigued by the duality of good & evil, and the fact that **humanity** has the potential for both, here on this Earth, no need to look above or below. All my respect to this excellent musician, and great personality.
Most people have never heard of rainbow or dio.I think Richie blackmore is under rated he should of been in the top 10 of all time greatest guitarist. The first time I heard rainbow on the radio was stoned cold with Joe Lynn turner. Then I went out and bought rainbow on stage a great live album. Rainbow was best when they had dio
Yeah, I understand you. Ritchie Blackmore might be a famous guitarist but his musical brilliance, skills and technical abilities are so underrated it hurts. Many things that are usually credited to Yngwie Malmsteen was Blackmore that pioneered. Smoke On the Water was a blessing for Deep Purple but a curse for Ritchie Blackmore

The engineer that tries to autotune Dio won't have a job in the industry for very long.
Ritchie Blackmore the best guitar
Russians gone, that's our music
Russians gone, that's our music
NO auto tune here... ALL TALENT. RJD was AMAZING
I love the breakdown and guitar solo at the end of the song.
Richie really shines.
I was there in 1976 in Cologne, This magic will never happen again ...
Голос Ронии как всегда бесподобен🤟Ну и конечно что творить Блэкмор,это шедевр!!!!!!!
Классика рок-энд-ролла.
Лучший сингл Ритчи после смога.привет фанатам России
Pure rock! Few ribbons on stage amps and ultimate talent!
Times that won't be repeated!
Best rock roll band ever!
RONI JAMES DIO a legend! I still blast this song in my vehicle. Ya, people look at me but realize ROCKERS ARE NOT GONE.
Rock on!!👍🤙
That voice was too much for this world.
Dio just vocally attacks every song with such ferocity it’s amazing there’s no holding back!!!
man! what a lineup! absolute all-star rock team. everyone at the top.
Sadly Cozy Powell and Ronnie James no longer with us, but sounding brilliant on this video. Long live Rock.
Even though Daisley is on bass, don’t forget Jimmy Bain!
Fantastic what memories
And Roll.
And Roll.
What a voice! Ronnie Dio not only had the chops but he was one of the best frontmen. I saw this tour in Ohio once and Ritchie Blackmore destroyed about 4 Stratocasters.
You know you're one of the greatest guitarists ever if you rape more than one guitar
I love ritchie blackmore..he's my 1 & only guitar god..forever and ever!!
RAINBOW AND DEEP PURPLE РЕБЯТА ВЫ САМЫЕ ЛУЧШИЕ СЛУШАЮ ВАС УЖЕ 40 ЛЕТ И БУДУ СЛУШАТЬ ПОКА Я ЕЩЕ ЖИВ
That's an incredible amount of power , all of those musicians are named the best in their fields , put together they were leathal
That worked on insecure 14-year old boys making the leap from nerd to lifetime loser who could've had potential.
Great music, great band. We lost a great singer. One of the best. This music will NEVER DIE!!!!
I saw Rainbow on this tour. 1975, 1977, 1979, 1981. The second time I saw Dio with Rainbow was the best. What a voice.
R.I.P. Ronnie.
One of the greatest rock singer of all time under-rated
Слушая произведения этих групп,я бутто попадаю в то время,в свои 17 лет .
Blackmore is in my top 10 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Ronald Williams Blackmore underrated .. what planet are you on?
Also: "most people have never heard of..."
I would hate to be on that planet.
@Spork Spatula as of October 2020, this video has got 2.2 million views
so, rounding that to just 2 million and supposing the world has got exactly 7 billion people, if you do the maths you'll see that's about 0,02% of people! And, even with the most viewed Rainbow song on UA-cam, it doesn't come even close to 1% of people
So yeah, he's got a point, most people have never heard of Rainbow
