The iconic entrance, along with Kylie’s robotic yet sensual choreo, makes this a next-level performance! This is why Kylie is as big as Madonna in the UK.
I remember this well, I was watching it in a pub in Knightsbridge at the time it was shown on TV, which isn't far from Earls Court where it was filmed. As soon as I heard the Blue Monday beat, I was like "Yessssssss!". At each moment the camera focused on her "derriere", everyone in the pub stood up and cheered! 🤣 Amazing performance!
This song came in 2001 and the first single of the ''Fever'' album. This song was her signature song and her biggest single to date, reaching n.1 in 40 countrys. She mainting that record until Madonna battled that with ''Hung Up'' (who it's was n.1 for 45 countrys in 2005-2006). Also, this was the return of Kylie in US after she dissepear for 13 years after the second album (who this last didn't charts and was a total flop, who she didn,t released any material in US until the ''Fever'' album). ''Light Years'' re-released her career worldwide but the next album, ''Fever'' was labeled has her best-selling album and was everywhere in 2001 and 2002. Because of her success worldwide, she released this song in US in 2002 with a massive success, peaking at n.7 (her first top 10 since ''Locomotion'') and was everywhere in radios and MTV. Kylie only have seven singles in US charts, ''Can't Get You Out of My Head'' was one of them but in US like worldwide, this song was her signature song.
I remember seeing Kylie in concert for the first time on the ‘On A Night Like This’ tour in 2001 and she performed ‘Can’t Get You Outta My Head’ for the first time (sounded super different) but I was HOOKED!! I remember having to wait like 6-8mths for it to be released in the stores and played it on loop for days!! This performance was iconic and the year everyone was obsessed with the “Kylie bum” (hence the close up shots in this performance). So much so that her wax works figure at Madame Tussaud’s in London had to keep getting maintenance on her rear! They ended up nailing her dress to her bum to stop perv’s lifting it up 😂 LOVE this song so much ❤
Thanks for this Empress! Kylie for sure has changed her vocal style through the years. She tends to sing more breathy now and less full-bodied or even soulful. I think it’s a stylistic choice and also to sustain her vocals during concerts. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had vocal lessons to improve her overall singing and for longevity during performances
Another legendary brits awards performance worth checking out & man it was a real curve ball Scottish rock band vs massive east coast rap group = Texas vs wu tang clan // say what you want 😎
I remember seeing this live at the brit awards at home sick. They dont show it but I remember some guy introduced her and said just scream and yell because you are in for a treat tonight. I remember thinking who is this than she popped up and I had to know everything about her from then on. This performance blow me away that much. Couldn't believe this was the same girl that played Cammy in Street Fighter. I grow up loving that mess of a movie.
***KYLIE's "FEVER"-ERA TRIVIA TIME!!*** ...la, la, la...blah, blah blah..... ...THIS, was when Kylie reached Madonna-levels of WORLD DOMINATION! ...She got a Hero's welcome with this performance, and showed WHY she was deemed "The Princess Of Pop" in the UK, after this show.... ..."Light Years" (2000) got Kylie back to doing Pop Music, but she had MUCH more knowledge, was keen, savvier, and in tune to where the Pop music landscape was going, and 80's influenced Electro-Pop was VERY on the rise, in 2001; hence, the "Fever" Album (2001) kept it sparse, simple, clean, & POP....and awarding Kylie a EARTH-SHATTERING hit, with "Cant Get You...." ...this performance starts with Kylie posing like the (UK) edition of the Album cover, which already was a 'homage' to Grace Jones' CLASSIC "Island Life" G. Hits cover; Then, she mashes the tune with "Blue Monday" which gives nod to the 80's AND Electronic Pop, together.... - .....SINCE then, she's had One GREAT Album after another; even her "Disco" Album (done during a LOCKDOWN!) was chock fulla POP ditty goodness....She bceame the NEW Queen in 2002, Kids, bow DOWN (5:01) .....
You had me until the end 😂 she hasn’t had a good album since Aphrodite, it’s all so safe and generic now. Fingers crossed she takes a couple of risks with the next one
It's her biggest song and biggest album but i'm not sure about Madonna levels of World Domination, Fever sold 5 million worldwide, Madonna a year earlier sold more than twice of that of Music. Kylie was doing great in Europe though, especially the UK and Germany at the time.
@@Marc-zi5cq I think Fever did also well in US and was her only album to sold one million in US, and ''Can't Get You Out of My Head'' was her signature song worldwide, including in US and was everywhere in MTV and radios.
@@WCD199317 yeah it did well. It went Platinum in the US and did almost a million there. No one was disputing the fact the album was a success, i was just referring to the Madonna type of world domination, while Music did over 3 million at a similar time and over 11 million worldwide. CGYOMH went to #7 in the US but #1 pretty much everywhere in Europe.

Sure! If a Patron requests it
I don't know why she is such a gay icon, because being the straight male that I am, I find her very appealing indeed.
