I just want to say I really appreciate the time stamps, it's a lot of work but it's really convenient and ads another layer of quality to your very well done videos.
Yeah, Auspex is all quality no flare. There's no fucking graphics or squeezed in jokes. 100% professional, friendly, and informative. Love him.
Yes love the time stamps. I often re-watch your videos several times and being able to go back to the part I want to know is amazing
Auspex output is insane. So happy to be watching this.
Absolutely!
"Why run every unit, when you can run all scarabs?"
-every necron player I know
Scarabs are the best at soaking charges and MW.
I remember running a list with almost 100 models of scarabs for the memes once. Was one of the funniest things I’ve ever done.
@@Guo1234bob Absolute legend.
@@hangarrat I actually won that game too. Line breaker, ancient machine, and while we stand we fight. And just dump scarabs onto every objective I can every turn. Scored like 90 something points against a Dguard player. He didn’t know what hit him.
I support this. I just love swarms, ya know? Pity those ripper swarms are so costly, or I'd be a nid player too!
This guy is superhuman lol best 40k channel by far
100% agreed!
I 2nd this
luetin
Its important to note for the Skorpek that there are weapon restrictions based on unit size. At 5 models you can only take one of the S7 damage 3 weapon but you get 2 of them at 6 models. Squads of 6 punch really well into terminator's while squad's of 5 tend to leave them with survivors.
The reason we bring them in squads of 5 is to avoid the automatic 3 shots of blast weapons. Skorpekhs draw a lot of fire already, and their stratagem can only do so much. Most times I find myself killing the Reap-Blade destroyer first, as the Threshers do most of the work anyway.
I haven't found blast to be common enough to be that big an issue for Skorpek. Compare a chance for the enemy to roll less shots to having an additional 3 wounds and more chances for reanimation tends to make the extra one worth it. Additionally a lot of chaos and space marine armies are very incentivised to take 3 wound terminator's that are often on a 1-2 up armor save making the extra ap on the damage 3 attacks worth it.
@@TheGodofbadideas There's also unit coherency to still worry about. With 5 they only have to stay within 2" of 1 other model within the unit. Once you have 6 you now need to pack in tighter.
All Tesla weapons with the Mephrit dynasty doctrine active every turn now is lots of fun!!! I run my full Tesla Necrons with a tesseract vault as my big boy. They are the “ Electrons”
waka waka waggles eyebrows 😏
Oh, interesting approach, and I thought I have at least heard about every possible decent Necron strat.
Also it is quite nice in age of Armour of Contempt, since tesla stays the same, AP 0
Also doesn't Malevolent Arcing Mortal Wounds damage unit that is actually shot at (since it doesn't state 'every "other" unit in 3" around') so together with Mephrit strat you could give some insanely Mortal Wounds spam into enemy.
@@magearamil8626 yes! Between the arching, the Mephrit stratagem, and the tesseract vault getting the enhanced Ctan powers my list does a lot of mortal wounds.
Can we all agree on the fact that we do not deserve Auspex and it's the best 40k channel out there ?
I think that after GW handed out core to basically everything Szeras is a REALLY solid choice, sure he has no invul, is pricy and doesn't work for dynastic advisors but man buffing vehicles, troops, destroyers and canopteks is amazing.
Silly me was like, "Auspex is gonna put EVERY unit into a single list?" Imagine my disappointment.
Haha me too :D
Um, couldn't you do that yourself by just increasing the points limit of your list? AT just gives you the tools. What you build with them is up to you.
For the Convergence, they "work well" with the Behind Enemy Lines secondary and 2+ Crypteks to take advantage of the fact they can get there on the first turn (depending how enemy deployed and how much space they take up, but since you just need ANYWHERE and aren't trying to get a shot or charge off its usually feasible) and they require attention from anti tank units to remove that probably do not want to spend turn 1 or 2 shooting at a Convergence.
Not that this makes them ANY sort of good, they're absolutely bonkers terrible models (well statlines, the models are beautiful) but if you have to have them thats what I'd do with them.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think fortifications can never count as scoring units for any kind of objective, primary or secondary.
@@DigitalSniper45 I've not found a rule that says fortifications cannot contribute to objectives in any way. They cannot hold objective MARKERS, but that's very different from not being able to score anything at all (otherwise, kills from armed fortifications would not count towards kill-based objectives, etc and that would be very weird) "Aircraft units and units with the Fortifications Battlefield Role can never control objective markers" is the wording for the rule that keeps them from holding objectives.
Behind Enemy Lines (or Linebreaker, very similar objective very similar wording) states: "Score 2 victory points at the end of your turn if one unit from your army (excluding AIRCRAFT units) is wholly within your opponent’s deployment zone. Score 4 victory points at the end of your turn instead if two or more units from your army (excluding AIRCRAFT units) are wholly within your opponent’s deployment zone."
It excludes aircraft but not fortifications, and does not require you to control an objective marker, so I don't see why it wouldn't work.
@@GalisSlipscale Seems legit then. I just assumed being a terrain feature would mean they couldn't but it doesn't look like it. Probably not a reliable method of scoring though as it requires you to actually get it behind enemy lines without being screened.
Something that need to be said about the Cryptothralls is that they are basically always slotless since you always take crypteks in your armies, and a cheap, fairly decent 2 man unit slotless is still very interesting.
A shame the butchered bodyguard rule kinda fucked them over tho.
Always appreciate Auspex having basically every video I’d possibly want for research and stuff.
I really want to thank you for the updates on points and specs, I'm almost done painting my necrons and I have been trying to keep up with the changes, but it's been crazy how much they've changed lately. Keep up the great work 👍
Ah man, gonna be playing both my first game with necrons since the dataslate and for a long long while TOMORROW, so this is a great little hype up for me.
How did it go ?
Awesome video, and thank you for always putting in the effort for time stamps!
Oooh I’ve been waiting for this one! Auspex never disappoints. Thanks for the hard work my dude!
Just bought a large necron army second hand and was really looking forward to this video.
Brilliant video, great overview on the options available now to necron players. I look forward to the tactics and combo videos in the future
Once the skorpekhs gained the core keyword. I've I've usinging them along side illuminor szeras. Deploying both near ishhh my usual blobs of 40 to 60 warriors. At the start of the game. I'd use szeras to augment them and just pray that they don't get the plus 1 to ballistic skill. Then move szeras alone to buff other units in the main blob whilst the destroyers go forth.
Usually works well as they often go outside of my will be done range. And the extra strength is nice and toughness makes them a good deal harder to wound.
Really loved this video, so helpful for Necron mains. Would love to have a Death Guard/Thousand Sons video like this.
I love running 3 Doomstalkers. If you're running a gunline set up in midboard, they are amazing. Free overwatch if core within 6" charged. Had three overwatch with much scariness.
Top quality informative videos, who needs podcasts 👏
A chaos space marines one of these would be awesome, with the new codex and all. Thanks for keeping up the great videos! Please someone tell me if there already is one
Playing Szarekhan is kind of amazing now. SK himself can get some absolutely silly buffs from other HQs
Dude right? Getting Szeras and maybe a couple other crypteks to slap a few buffs would make him an absolute meme and terror 🤣
@@royceatkinson put the hyperdermal ablator and let it give him light cover outside of 12" lol or the veil and teleport him around
Oh. Oh this is a fantastic video format.
👏🏾
One thing people don't mention about Flayers for warriors is custom dynasties. You can have 27" range, rapid fire within full range if you didn't move.
or you can just take immortals instead. now theyre theyre 1 point cheaper theyre flat out better than warriors. warriors needed a 2 point cost decrease to be worth taking.
Necrons = Instant Like
Love this video. I’m building my Necrons army. Thanks.
Interesting video. I would love if you make something like this for everyone, particularly for Eldar
Would love to see somthing like this for every faction!
Very nice work!
I' lm probably going to listen to this multiple times.
Auspex, I'd really love to see a vide comparing all the C'tan options in depth. Specifically though, I'd to know your thoughts on which of the traits to choose for your trascendent c'tan. I feel like the extra power or transhuman is the way to go, but i'd love to know your thoughts on the other choices.
Amazing concept, even if I don't play with or against Necron it's really interesting
I'm looking forward to watch these videos for the other factions (and if it were to be Tyranids I'd be elated)
Thanks for making this 👍
Ahhh perfect as I'm about to purchase a necrons army!
Thanks Auspex
I’m running a Novokh list, and I have a nice little trick for the Skorpekh Lord: run him with Veil of Darkness and the reroll charged trait. Then, you tp him and a group of skorpekhs across the board, possibly get a turn 1 charge with all the Novokh buffs and the re rolling wound and hit rolls of 1. Pretty decent, imo.
I'd love to see this style of analysis with the Forgeworld Options
Thanks so much for this
No Forgeworld? Was interested in your thoughts on the Seraptek Heavy Construct. -50p, core... i really really want one but don't know how to make it work on the board.
Fun combo: Anrakyr with his warlord trait+ 10 lych guard with scythes.
50 atacks with their strategem
Hitting on 2+ from MWBD
S7 base S8 with strategem
Ap-4 can be increased further with dynasties
Damage 2
Against scarab occult terminators its 34 damage on average in the end so the full squad gets wiped.
Anrakyr isn't dynastic, so Lych guard don't get their bonus attack for being near a noble
@@wickedAberration well shiiii…. Thanks for the clarification.
@@davidpujman6082 still +1 attack with novokh so it is a good play
@@wickedAberration Add some cheap necron lord and I think it will do.
thank you
Great video except for the silent king. His Phaeron of blades and Phaeron of stars abilities are 6inch auras. You couldn’t put them on wraiths and send them off like you said and he would always be using the abilities on himself since he is core now.
This style of video is interesting. Could you do one for Aeldari, or is that the "strengths and weaknesses of each craftworlds unit" video?
Really great video but just wanted to comment on your advice for the night bringer C’tan. You said the best tactic would be to get it to jump from cover to cover throughout the game but the thing is so tall! Whenever I tried my enemy would easily be able to see it sticking out and the worst part is that half of the models height is just for aesthetic reasons (which I still like but you get why it’s a problem).
Sounds like you might need to play with more obscuring terrain then. Height isn't a problem so much as the horizontal profile is
Yeah a no of tournaments have tall terrain to give cover for all comer lists.
This is awesome! Do you have something like this for Tyranids?
I see necrons. I hit like.
Opponent pointing at Triarc Stalker with heat ray:
"Is that thing threatening at range?"
" A bit at short range"
Later:
"is that thing threatening in combat"
"slightly"
"so... why did you include it?"
"I.... Don't know"
I'd swap out Thunderbolt for Times arrow on the Vault. Thunderbolt doesn''t get too big a bonus from the Vault (6" splash MW instead of 3") And Times arrow pretty powerful on it. 50% chance to snipe a primaris character is not too shabby.
The Doomstalkers can't be taken as multiple in a unit, can they?
Question, my mate says the nightbringer doesn't ignore fnp since the wounds are not ignored, they are just not lost.
Tomorrow there is a tournament and I bring one.
Does the nightbringer ignores fnp or not?
The night ringer 100% ignores any fnp like save
I think giving one of the wraiths a particle Beamer and using 1 cp for technophyitical aiming for 3 guaranteed dmg is worth especially when they got buffed by my will be done. Btw does anyone know why the heavy lokhust destroyer is cheaper in the normal lokhust destroyer unit?
Just wanted to say, the Guass Flayer on Warriors is great if you have TSK around. It’s helped my warriors kill things they should not be able to kill, with access to exploding 6’s and 6’s auto wound, you just go fishing for 6’s and it’s devastating.
What do you guys think are the best contenders for anrakyrs melee buffs?
skorpeks and flayed ones spring to mind, what do you guys think about lychguard with warsysthes, silent king or wraiths?
If skorpekhs can stack their plasmacyte with Anrakyr then heck yeah. +1 hit, +2 strength, +2 attacks could shred tanks apart in one round.
The thought of 20 flayed ones with 80 total attacks and exploding 6s against infantry is very tempting though
or Canoptek Tomb Spyders, Anrakyr gives a squad MWBD, +1 attack, and Cryptek with failsafe overcharger gives them a further D3 attacks, and Novokh another attack, so that could end up with +5 attacks, meaning 10 attacks from each Spyder with strength 10 because of Novokh and Dispersion strat for +1 strength. But Silent King would still be better, as he gives them reroll to wound in melee, with 1 attack less.
I can't seem to find this info online unless it's more than a year old, and with all the changes I don't know how viable that info is anymore.
Characters on a catacomb command barge.
Do they keep their individual things.
Such as wargear, abilities, auras, saves, stats.
Or do they only get the barge things
They get all the abilities listed on the datasheet for the catacomb command barge - e.g. My Will Be Done, and relentless march. You can't field other necron characters on one, if you use one, you just get the basic barge statline, weapons and options that you can see on that page of the codex. Hope that helps anyway :)
@@auspextactics so just to be sure.
If I chose anrakyr on a barge, I won't get his tachyon arrow, or his vehicle control (forgot the name)
@@Zepulchure no, you cant field any other character on a barge. The barge by itself is a "character-choice". It is NOT an equipment or upgrade for any other character! But you can still give it a relic (like the voidreaper - if you have chosen the warscythe before, orb of eternity - if you have chosen the rezz orb before, etc.)
The Nightbringer gets around "can't take more than x wounds per phase" abilities???
Yes, as those abilities (including the Nightbringer's own Necrodermis) are "all remaining damage is ignored."
Illuminor with Silent King, used it last game i've played. While i rolled like shit, buffing up to possible T8 is scary.
Yo Auspex, back before the Nephilim update, you said Novokh is generally the strongest Dynasty right? Aside from Mephrit it seemed. Well I was just wondering how true that is still, cause I'm about to start painting a necron army, and my list and everything was based around novokh, i already even painted 1 necron with red and almost finished him. Just wanna make sure before I overcommit
Necrons are a xenos faction, unlike space marines, few people are going to make to much fuss if their paint jobs is less then perfectly faction accerate.
My mate i play against has chaos space marines, so Abaddon, i use my 10 deathmarks to try and whittle him down before he gets close to my main characters. Otherwise bad things happen.
Yes necrons 🥰🥰
Aren't Flayed ones 50pts for 5?
Awesome video BTW loving my Necrons atm.
Yes but since they were so cheap he was sugggesting squads of six for guaranteed objective actions
@@iamnotglenn ahh that makes sense
Do one for Adeptus Custodians
How viable is it to run max Canoptek forces? I want to start a Necron army but I love their actual bots more than the skellies.
I have a Canoptek list that I run which does well. You get 27 scarabs, some units of wraiths and Spyders as support are great. I love the doomstalker and tomb sentinel from FW but those are both super swingy. When I run Canoptek all those guys are in there though and with our new secondaries you’ll do quite will going heavy Canoptek as long as you run down some scarabs on the second hand market
Its not GOOD but you can make it playable, I think.
Caveat, I don't play Necrons. But, why doesn't anyone talk about using the Monolith (and like) as a screening unit. It's so big that it can block line of sight and opponent movement lanes. Granted, that it does the same for you, but you can plan for it ahead of time. The opponent has to react to you, which is always a good thing.
The issue is that it’s so big. It does not have fly so you can’t get it around the board.
I wish I knew what I was even listening to lol, so new to the game that it’s just not clicking in my head
I would say lokhust heavy destroyers are the best necron unit points for points and maybe the best heavy support in the game
plz do this to chaos space marines
You forgot that the ghost arks can do secondaries since it's core ...
Silent King does not stop interrupts just so people know
What about FW and legends
Man the silent king with 10x Praetorians would be terrifying. If they have the shields and swords you just arent killing them or him unless you throw everything at them
Praetorian guard is not necro guard, they have rots.
@@chocolatefigure01 sorry I'm new to necrons, what's the difference and what's rots?
@@ce017 its a typo lol, i meant rods of covenant, lychguard are the ones with sword and shield, sadly they were nerfed to the ground and almost nobody takes overlords.
@@chocolatefigure01 ahhh okay ty for the clarification. I remember I used to be very scared of those lychguard
i would personally never not take heat ray on the stalker mainly coz its a unique choice
It's funny how if you ask any necron play what model they want as infantry, they will either answer with flayed ones or CRYPTOTHRALS! YEA!!!!!
You forgot the Night Shroud
Do you ever take a day off? 🤣
Immortals got gaus blasters not reapers so they have longer range then teslas.
Nihilakh needs more love, and that's all I'm gonna say.
It's all I run. So far I've had decent success with them. I also love their colors
Doomday Ark park where i t has good LOS but can see 2-3 objectives..... ;)
I think you’re missing some nuance with the spyders
Doom Scythes are better than Doomsday Arks! Change my mind.
Does anyone else hate/love cryptothralls look? They look like they were sired by a jet engine.
For no reason at all my mind just says robo chicken

Necrodernis must be the necrontyr word for cheese. The max 3 wounds per phase is pure and utter bullshit. And don't even get me started on the hurr durr my floating albino ignores all rules your model has. The guy that wrote the rules for the nightbringer is legit that one kid that always came up with new super powers and counter super powers when the kids were playing superhero.
I mean there are good counters to him available to most armies and he is also a pretty big point investment. Plus plenty of other big models like ghaz and i think, abbadon, have similar wound caps per phase
@@shipkipsamazingchannel3248 And all the Phoenix Lords.
Nightbringer also isn't the only one to deny "rules that ignore wounds".
Menhirs cannot be reanimated by any reanimation ability becouse The Silent King unit doesnt have the reanimation protocol ability.
He doesn’t need it. It’s the ability of a technomancer.
The ruling is a mistake by tournament organisers who have made a non gw ruling, which is their rite to but this only impacts tournaments not standard games.
Reanimate is referenced in the Necron codex as a "how to return models to the unit".
It doesn't require RP.
