Ansbach, along with Rya, Big Boggart and Thiollier, are the reasons I still cannot pick the Frenzied Flame ending. My homies deserve a world where they can be at peace. But Ansbach in particular made pretty much every other subsequent ending truly unsatisfying. I want to make his dying wish a reality - a world for mortals, not for gods. But even the Age of Stars is beholden to Ranni’s moon god. It would have been neat if the DLC had added an Age of Man ending to the base game.
@@kitkitcat5307 well to be fair. The Age of Stars basically has Ranni rising to Godhood and just fucking leaving, letting the people of the world take over. It’s the closest thing to becoming a “lord for man”.
@@jackofastora8962 the "gods" in the removal of fickle gods that the Perfect Order ending applies is referring to the gods in flesh present on the land, ala Marika/Miquella/Rot Scorpion/GEQ, but it's still beholden/subservient to the outer gods from the stars that stand above them in their respective orders. It would still be an order dictated by the Two Fingers(and by extension, Metyr from the shadows), by the Erdtree and by the Elden Ring/Elden Beast, just this time, without any orders filtered through the mouth of a centralized mortal-turned-divine like Marika. While yes Marika was the source of many problems, she also did bring about a lot of benefits through her fickleness, so would this purer untainted order be truly better than her(or rather Radagon's) Golden Order Fundamentalism? Sure, ostracisation of the Crucible folk and Those Who Live in Death would be over as they were entirely arbitrary choices of the gods, but said gods also arbitrarily allowed the incorporations of many elements into their order as well, such as the Carians, or granting exception to Messmer and his fellow fire wielding knights, not to mention the alliance with the Ancient Dragons, who were otherwise folks abandoned by the Elden Ring. If Perfect Order is set, these wouldn't happen and these people would be left to rot, if not be outright "exterminated" under the unfiltered golden order. Not to mention, the Merchants would still made to suffer for fraternizing with the Three Fingers, the Fire Giants(if any ever turn up again) would still be subjugated for fire is still cardinal sin of the Erdtree, the blind prophets would still be struck blind andade to suffer thorns for the same reason, the snake worshippers of Gelmir would still be hunted down, etc etc, and the same general worldview and operation of the golden order fundamentalism that stagnates cultures(see Hackshaw's vid as good elaboration for this) would still occur, if not on a more extreme level.
@@aareez3435 the outer gods don’t play that big of a role in the lands between, the greater will already abandoned it entirely, and every other outer god seems more content to simply have a champion as their living aspect, save for the Frenzy flame which is an unresolved issue in every ending. Under the perfect order the only lord is the tarnished, who is just as mortal and subject to justice as every other man. The only good I can recall that marika herself has done is the persecution of those who live in death, which itself may well have been Godfrey or radagons decision, every other good thing has been enacted by those two aforementioned lords. Marika did the bare minimum that the greater will wanted, which was an established order, every chance she had she took to make the world a worse place entirely unchecked by anything until she flew too close to the sun and broke the elden ring, until then she was essentially the sole arbiter of everything. The golden orders entire schtick is that marika is the one true god afterall
To further say, it’s likely that the greater will is never to return either, even if it does the tarnished is not obligated to follow its will as they didn’t ascend, every outer god aspect save for the frenzy flame itself is canonically slain, and the tarnished has unquestioned rule over the lands between, with the support of the academy, limgrave, and any tarnished that were once members of the roundhood table. And very likely any other faction will submit to their rule, as there are no other Demi gods left that are able to or wanting to challenge the tarnished, it’s an age by man for man.
This dude walks up to the most powerful being in the land of shadows, greets him like a gentleman, and then calmly tells him his time is up. At least we know the lore reason why Ansbach wears his robes: it's the only clothing that will properly hide his giant balls.
I know that Mohg is probably stilled looked upon unfavorably due to his allegiance to the Formless Mother and his soemwhat unorthodox means of cresting a dynasty, but if anything can be learned from this dlc, its that followers often reflect the virtue of their leaders. Freya is a true Redmane, valuing war and conflict above all else, and yet still an honorable Duelist. Leda is seemingly a calm and collected knight of Miquella, but under the surface brews a psychotic, sinister nature that may very well reflect Miquellas desire for the greater good. And finally, we have Ansbach. The only NPC in the game who treats us eith true reverence, always adsressing us as "Righteous Tarnished". He understands the folly of grace, of the golden order, and is msot importantly a wise, measured, and skillful man. This msot likely says at least a little about who Mohg was before his enchantment, reinforced by how his theme echoes regal tones throughout, as well as the violin motif of Malenia, perhaps signifying the honorable wualities that they both share.
Leda makes my skin crawl, entirely because though she's kindly, calm, and collected.... THERE'S NO WARMTH IN HER TONE, only the cold civility of a zealot and the revelation that she's actually a Bloody Finger wasn't a surprising one.
@MrJordwalk yeah she's basically like Jake Gyllenhaal's character in Nightcrawler. She has the characteristics of a human, and even tries to talk like one; but she could be further from it.
I think siding with Leda to get the Retaliatory Crossed Tree will be the hardest thing I've ever done. Harder than making a puppet of Nephili. And harder than killing Alexander.

I love the way he says 'Righteous Tarnished'. I can't explain why there's something soothing about it
