@@windrider2190Yeah, Thio’s AoW is the only saving grace for the status as even the stagger will proc its bonus damage but you don’t get it until… after you beat everything

Eternal sleep acts exactly the same as sleep except that for a few seconds after the enemy is put to sleep (proper sleep like with the bears, not stagger sleep like what happens for Tarnished) you can wail on them and they won't wake up. After the few seconds are up, the enemy will be put into the normal sleep state which will cause them to wake up when you hit them.
@@JustYourFriendlyLuluCultist This is true, but the enemies that are put to truly eternal sleep are usually pretty weak and can be taken down easier with other means especially when the cookbook for the pots is in the DLC.
Eternal sleep also does this with the stagger. if you hit enemies while in an animation before they get the regular sleep stagger it will remove the sleep effect and it will never happen. If you do this with the eternal sleep they will still stagger after their animation finishes. This is much better if you want to sleep into stagger combo. It's very niche but has its uses

I started messing around with sleep recently in my ng7 cycles. Currently at ng+20 and been a sleep lover since +13. A surprisingly large variety of enemies are weak or prone to sleep, some of them being obvious ones like bears and godskins and others not as much so like every beastman and animal foe, almost every humanoid enemy, etc. Sleep in general gets a bad rep for not being OP. Its good. ER players have a hard time giving anything a chance unless it can destroy something or cheese.

Some of the information in video is wrong. The Hippo can be slept, so can Gaiuss and the Putrescent Knight, it's just stupidly difficult to do so. There's also the fist weapon you get after defeating the final boss and following Thiollier's questline.
There is a weird bug with eternal sleep where if you kill an afflicted enemy they get stuck in a limbo state where they do their death animation but don't change to the ragdoll state or give you runes. You can't walk through them or move them like normal dead ragdoll enemies. If you walk far enough away you do get the runes so I think the level geometry despawns and the enemy actually dies from a falling death.

I wonder if it is a good strat to use sleep/et sleep on bosses that it works on and then swap out to a heavy hitting weapon like the chicken wing for some big free damage while they are waking up.
I Wish that eternal sleep is worth using against bosses but sadly the Demi-human queen and Red Bear (Not the NPC) bosses specifically start off being inflicted with Eternal sleep but end up going to Normal sleep so they'll wake up when provoked, Eternal sleeping mobs don't wake up even if they're hit at all so sad to say that eternal sleep has no main uses against bosses as they don't go to Perma sleep state at all I tried this with a troll and although its not a boss it procs eternal sleep but after a few seconds it goes to normal sleep with no hesitation to it waking up.
