Hi Mike, this is my small contribuition: the difference between Absolute and Relative is that if you have multiple edges selected, Relative will make the crease from the last crease value in each edge. The Absolute starts all from the same value, so creates a crease equally in all edges. I love your channel and I learned a lot from u :)
relative allows you to select a section of an egde loop crease it then select the full egde loop and add or decrease value without it effecting the orginal value of your first crease. as absolute will always overide whatever value has been added.
OHHH God, ty for this lesson. Thank u. How many times have I asked my teachers: HOW to correct too smooth corners for sharper ones? The answer is the same: you fix the edge with two other edges on the sides.
Im starting to use crease tool, since I've heard that support edges/loops are being outsourced by creasing edges in the industry. Do you know how this works with *exporting to ZBrush?* I know ZBrush doesn't understand different crease values from Maya, _it's either non-creased or completely creased._
How do you have same effect with creasing when it looks like beveling? Such a shame for a Maya that they couldn't implement a real edge creasing tool which will allow us to create really sharp edges. It's a really big head ache that we need to add edge loops at every edge in order to get sharp edges.
so for render\film with subdivision, displacement and other textures better use crease tool the edge loops or not?) And edge loops - for gamedev ? Just watched creases are not supported in vray(
Can you recommend me to use crease tool instead of adding supported edge to my object????? I mean can this affect future steps like problem in UV unwrapping, texture mapping etc??.
Hi Mike, i have problems with crease tool with edges (hardnes and soften not work and give to me stupid breaking shadows) and problems with export to obj and stl file. Crease tool is so nice but have so manny bugs... :(
Tnx. But but I don't really understand where to use this except one's own free-time-exercises, not sure if file format converter and game engines would read this 100% correctly
+fadhel midouni The end result of the bevel is the same as if you were manually creating those classic 2 edge loops near the border (like Mike did in this video). It adds to the poly count. However if you don't need to create a low poly item, you can use bevel without worrying. Another difference, *important difference*, is that the Crease tool works within Maya. If you want to export your model into Unity & co, it'll probably not work
Hey Mike, can you make a tutorial of how you can render in maya. So you can render your scene for your portfolio. And I have another question, are you from the Netherlands because you sound like a Dutch person. thanks for reading my comment and have a nice day.

Thank you Mike. you're a life saver!
You are very welcome

thankyou sir you made my day

what is this doing on the backend? is it simply adjusting normals or something? or is there some other component being added to 'crease' it?
When subdividing faces it is usually a process or taking the average between points. Crease restricts that process
i got it that how to put a crease edge , but want know how to remove crease from the edge,if want change anything
very nice, thank you!
hi mike, can you make a tutorial of a charater's clothes with crease tools? i never use that tool before im still 3D beginner
Very Helpful Buddy, thanks
Thanks
At 0:58, how were you able to select your entire ring of edges instead of just the one you were clicking on?
You can double click to select a whole loop
That is nice but there's one problem , a black shadow on the edge before and after i assign a material
that's racist
Thanks!
Hey Mike, is it possible to bake maps from high to low using just creases to make the highpoly ?
thanks
You could but I am not sure whether the result will be any good
🙌🏻 🙌🏻 🙌🏻
If did bevel on the edges...I could delete those edges to bring back the softness...
What can I do after using crease tool to get softness
Hit Ctrl+Y to undo. ( after you delete the history you can no longer do that )

I never had any problems with it. Did you smooth things first ?
Smoothed or not, same problem. look here : prnt.sc/goxgs2

They would
This is awesome ty
+TLC You're welcome
hello
what's the diference between the crease tool and bavel ?

+TheDorianTube ok ty
" is that the " .... I can't see the rest of your comment.
Ice Bender UA-cam bug, when this happens refresh the page with F5 and you can see the whole comment
Would you know if creasing works with hardsurface objects you are exporting to ZBrush from maya?
I know this was one year ago but it really helped me undertanding this tool. I didnt knew what it does or what to click.
Thanks!
Cool

+Serkan Korkmaz Hi there, do you mean render in Maya as in Mental Ray or do you mean Maya Software ? And yes, I live in the Netherlands
Mike Hermes mooi weer hè. Yes mental ray please.
+Serkan Korkmaz Het regent alleen maar hier😬
+Zombie_Slayer ik weet het man, wel jammer
+Zombie_Slayer Hier ook
Thanks
thank
i love you
Didn't know Elon Musk used maya
Thank you Mike!
