Maya: NURBS Surfaces and Curves

We could spend a week talking about NURBS modeling. Let's do something within 13 minutes. We create several NURBS surfaces from Curves and evaluate how the curves's construction affects the NURBS surface.
NURBS try to create a flow and need special attention when curves get too close to each other.

my god!!! look at how he explains things (im not talking about zoom effects) but what & how he explains looks like he himself might be the core team member of MAYA Software Production so he know what & how to teach. when i extruded the curve it didn't follow the line correctly and the black side was facing upwards... what could i do to help prevent that?

when the black side points upwards, go to surfaces and, low down in the menu, reverse the surface.
