Thank you. The Kasilof can be fun. The sockeye are smallish, but in years past it was worth it to avoid the crowds on the Kenai. That said, there were a ton of guides on it this year.
Thank you. One of the things I like about UA-cam is exactly that, seeing other places and how people live. We have had a lot of great adventures this summer, so hopefully it will make some good content to share.
Could have left the fish filettes in the freezer bag and than pressed out the air....and inserted the entire bag into the vacuum bag and sealed up for future processing .. using a sharpie to note contents above the heat seal line.....which you cut off when reopening.....and than use vacuum seal bags over and over.....washing in soap and water when they come in direct contact with food.
I went back and watched the end of the video to see what I did and what I showed. Generally I do write on the bags with a sharpie: contents, year and batch. The bags, purchased in bulk, are about $.11 a bag, so I’ve never tried to reuse them.
Learned the bag trick from my sister.. also learned to go easy on canning jar lids when opening, and they can be sterilized and reused.. if I could find vacuum seal bags for .11 cents I might be a bit more extravagant! Just comments....no Mal intent intended. Good video....thanks for the response... Keep Fishing
I always assume there are bears nearby. Salmon streams, in the summer, are a magnet for bears. By always assuming bears are near, a person stays on their toes. That said, there are precautions a person should take when camping in bear country: food, hygiene, camp area…
This video was filmed on the Kasilof, but I did spend time on the Kenai as well. Both rivers are fun, but each is unique. I suspect you have experience on the Kasilof and I’d would then guess the Kenai as well.
@@RaisedinAlaska Yes lived in Alaska as a little boy Dad was Military my Sister stayed in Anchorage. I have been coming up and fishing Alaska since 1990. I love Alaska with all my heart and will be spending my entire summers up there starting 2023. Very familiar with the Kenai and Russian river. I fished the Kasilof only ounce for kings but every year the Kasilof gets extraordinary return of Reds, however I never hear of anyone fishing for reds in the Kasilof and really hard to find any video's. I could tell bye the size of the fish they were not Kenai reds but they were the same size as Russian river reds still good looking fish. My son and I were in Soldotna end of July first week of August fishing Swiftwater and had excellent time, great fishing this past year. Your video now has be convinced to buy a drift boat. My advantage is I have a young son that can ride the bike back to the truck while I drink a cold beer lol.
@@tearoftaste4183 The Kasilof is a beautiful float and an easy river to learn on. Yes, the last couple years the end of July was been good on the Kenai. Having another person for riding would be nice.😁
Good times. Great question about kids. My son and I just returned from a walk in sockeye fishing trip in which it rained the entire time. Reflecting on your question, I find that when I have my kids with me I spend more time tying their gear and netting their fish and doing things with them and less time playing with my camera. When I’m just by myself I have nothing to do but play with my camera and do what I’m doing and so I end up filming more stuff by myself than I do with my children. That said, it’s a lot of fun when the kids are along and I need to be able to capture that better.
Great video, Obviously you put in at the lake, curious did you take out at the hwy bridge? And if so how many hour float is it {best guess} once you enter river? Always wanted to take my son on that trip, he's 10.
Yes, I put in at the lake and pulled out at the highway. Great float, nothing really technical. I would guess if a person just free floated, and never stopped, it would be 3ish hours. Just guessing, I always stop and fish.
@@RaisedinAlaska Oh, OK now it makes sense. If you want a laugh check out a couple videos on my channel. Poor quality. I have a ton, just need to upload one day this winter.
Great video!
Thank you.
like you Fishing spots a lot too, good video
Thank you.
I have a few pictures of limits of reds on that same beach. I love that river.
It is a scenic fun float for sure.
nice video!! I fish that river too

Rowing, fishing, camping, and biking should be an Olympic event. You sir, just got the Gold Medal. I really enjoyed the video. Thank you.
Thank you for watching.
You’re never too old to wear a life vest.
You are right.
Watching from Bangladesh(South Asia).
I always wondered how life would be in Alaska. Really glad to see your videos. Keep up the good work. 💙

Thanks, I always appreciate other people’s tricks. I’ve learned a lot from other’s advice. That you for watching.
Great adventure. I miss that rhythm on the river. The filet looked delicious.
Thank you, it was very good.
Really enjoyed this one! Wish I was there with you
It was a very relaxing trip.
I would worry about bear!
With the yum smell of cooked fish, is it a problem??
Love Alaska! The water is pretty 🤩 🎣

I’m trying to go to kavik lol
I had to Google that one to see where it was. It looks like it’s where LBZ Sue lived.
Great video were you fishing the Kasilof river? Love my Vac master as well.

@@Alaskahuntr I subscribed. Dandy fish.
Did you float from skilak down? And the boat launch where you pull out at doesn’t look familiar to me, where on the river is that?
For this float I put in at the highway. I don’t know the name of the pullout, but it is on the left side of the river by a cannery.
Jk I wouldn’t even know where to start in kavik. Maybe eagle 🦅
