I worked for a small manufacturer in the late ’90s thru ‘03 or so. We made a very rugged and quiet suppressor that was reasonably priced. I went to this dealer just last week and he recommended a Silencerco suppressor over some of his old stock he still had. We test fired a 338 Lapua with super and subsonic. I was stunned by how quiet it is with subsonic. We also fired a 47-70 with their big bore can. I told him to get me started on both.
The biggest problem is support. If something goes wrong 5 years down the road, that company may be out of business. I saw it happen locally to a few guys. Small-time guy was making suppressor. I told friends not to buy them, some did. Two years later, the guy was killed in an accident, and the business closed. They may have saved a hundred or so upfront, but now they have no warranty.
@@TUKByV1 Right. That's what due diligence is for. Dealer says brand X is a good product, your job is to talk to previous buyers and find out if it's worthwhile. Stop being a stereotypical consumer who needs to be coddled through your purchase and do some friggin' legwork.
Yes, suppressor demand is pushing up price and causing long lead times, My Class 3 dealer recently gave me first dibs on a Rugged Obsidian 9 but sadly at close to full retail/MSRP. So good product still out there but without the normal discounts even for LEO/Military in many cases.
It was considered the best of the best for a very long time. There are newer designs that are slightly better now but not enough of a difference for me to upgrade just yet.
Id like suppressors if buying one (at the NFA inflated prices) if doing-so didn't put you on the ONLY LEGAL GOVERNMENT REGISTRY of firearms and other NFA items. The ATF making it easier for people to Obtain firearms *and especially NFA items), that should set off HUGE alarms and red flags! See my main reply in the comments - information has leaked allegedly detailingtheir plans. The alleged leak lays out that ATF is registering as many people as they can on the NFA registry, as part of a devious plan to destroy/arrest gun owners. And NFA owners are among those who own larger pewwpeww collections. I am saddened so many people aren't up in arms saying, "the ATF is making it easier for us to SBRs and Cans? Umm, that can't be good!".
I find it funny how you spell out "pew" in "pew science" but don't spell out science. As people who don't know how to spell "pew" but know how to spell "science".....🤣🤣🤣
I got to test fire a couple Witt Machine suppressors with my dealer. I was impressed with the cannooter valve 5.56 on a Tavor. It's heavy for it's size but balanced well on a bullpup. Killed the flash and kept the sound level to the shooter to roughly the same as the bullet crack (didn't have meters at this event). I ordered one the same day. On the other hand, I tried their 9mm can on an MPX with 9mm subsonics. Assumed hearing safe, big mistake. Thought maybe the first round pop was just terrible. Fired 3 more before we all agreed "f that thing". Somehow their mini 5.56 with supers was WAY quieter than their 9mm with subs. Lol
" legally" and free are not synonymous. Stop pretending any man has authority over you or anyone else. Live free among slaves. Stop pretending authority isnt the most dangerous superstition.
Hhmmm..... When it comes to owning something that can allow those in authority to decide where you live for the next 10 years, it is better to abide by the law of the land in my opinion, when deciding to own a suppressor, SBR or SBS etc... But hey - You Do You sir....

That's not a scam, that's not doing your research. Local dealer sells a great locally made titanium can that works great.
Anecdotal.

@@TestUser-cf4wj Thanks for ranting. You still offer only one utterly unconfirmed anecdote. "Uh, this dude near my house sells a thing!"
Could you please show the internal differences between a "good" suppressor and a "crap" suppressor? Thanks.

Yep, my hopes for another Silencerco bogo deal this summer is pretty much gone.
Glad I’ll never have this problem.
PewScience army! Represent!
Looks like a SilencerCo Sparrow. I have "heard" they are extremely quiet!

Good info. I not a supressor lover. But if in the future i now know where and what to look for and get and i thank you

Deuce, I had a buddy wait over a year for his tax stamp! I waited 8 months.. 😩
What is a tax stamp exactly and what did it cost? How hard is it to get one like what are they looking for to deny you?
