- 1 year update: Cleaning the throttle body seemed to help but it may have actually been working the throttle during the process that did it, the car started doing the same thing at 7 months so after an 85 dollar gas pedal replacement which might have taken 15 minutes no problems since. 4 Month UPDATE:: Car still starting fine with no problems....This is a crude video leading up to a careful light touch cleaning of the throttle body, nothing exciting about that part plus I needed two hands so I've spared you the most boring part. I noticed the car had been occasionally burbling upon startup with an up and down idle. My wife had gotten the reduced power notice and SES lamp. After cleaning I started it cold at 38 degrees and the idle was fine so hopefully it cured the problem. I wouldn't have thought a little gunk would cause an issue so hope it helps someone. Happened to my 2010 SS2 at about 194850 miles yesterday. Car was like The Shake Shack!

When you push on the gas the throttle body will open up (the golden flap where you can see inside)
Yes, key on first then push. Absolutely put minimal pressure on the blade because you don't want to have it recalibrated.
Hi. Mine acting up also. After this it was still doing the same?? Then had to buy the sensor itself also??
Probably going to need the new throttle pedal, very quick to install.
someonehasthisid is that the throttle body sensor?? Sorry for my ignorance I’m new to all this mechanic I cleaned the throttle body tried my best not to touch the gold flap thing. But know my car is like alll accelerated or it’s like louder and ready to go I let off the brakes and it jumps to take off quick and faster then what it used too To a point where I’m fighting to also come to a complete stop at a red light
The throttle position sensor is part of the throttle pedal so if you have that code chances are that's what it is.Price is right at 90 dollars with tax US.

I have a 2017 camaro ss and the flap isn’t opening up the way as yours is it messed up ?
It may need recalibrating which can be done on a good scanner like Snap On or possibly could do a relearn without one if you can find something on Google.
Did it work. My girls car does same.
In the end its probably going to need an 80 something dollar throttle pedal which is where the position sensor is now located.
I’m having the same issue, did it have a rough idle to go along with it ?
When it went into reduced power the idle was very bad but would reset and run fine until the next time after shutting off removing key and opening and closing door. Clean it then calibrate it If it does it again scan it, I can't remember the throttle position sensor code but the gas pedal is where the TPS is located which I had already replaced then some months later i get a P1516 throttle actuator that would be the throttle body which I have since replaced with no further trouble. I might could have gotten away with just a calibration but being the wife's car didn't want to chance it.

@@someonehasthisid u replaced the throttle body and the code p1516 went away???? also did u get the code p2101?
@@andreslowly1337 Now i don't remember the codes but i first replaced the throttle pedal which was fine for quite some time then i ended up having to replace the throttle body, cleared codes and did a relearn. I believe i had multiple problems but as far as i know it's still fine to this date. This car is now in possession of my former wife but we are on good terms and she has not indicated any more problems.
@@someonehasthisid yea I had to rewire the throttle body connector from the ECU to the throttle body. No codes now so I guess that fixed my problem....
