- Hey Good People,
I had a beautiful Chevrolet Camaro in the shop this week. It had the LT 6.2 engine with the DOD delete. Unfortunately, it still found its way to my shop for lifter failure. I couldn't believe it. Take a look at the video to to discover what happened....

I don’t have DOD and I lifter failure and rocker arm failure on a stock car. Oil changed every 5k with name brand synthetic.
Excellent vid, some serious diag skills, your customers are lucky to have you, a knowledgeable and honest mechanic. This is why as much as the sound of extra power is always appealing, outcomes like this or worse are always more common after doing such mods.
I’m having the misfire in cylinder 2 and this going to be my next step to open to the engine more cause I’m still getting the codes after changing the fuel injector and spark plugs
Thanks doctor, how about if you turn the crank shaft to the point there's no tension on that lifter then use the magnet to pull it out
Chrysler, GM and Ford are all having lifter failure issues. It appears that only one lifter fails, rather than several. I think that would rule out motor oil. The problem must lie in the roller needles. There must be a bad batch of needles. As with other components, I'm sure there are only a handful of bearing manufacturers. It's either a tolerance issue or a metallurgy issue. All can be narrowed down to one source. China.
Well hopefully 🤞 it’s a fix that doesn’t include a new engine…good work. Yikes 😳
J.T. will be happy to see Ram isn't the only one with this problem.
I know right! GM had it bad!
@@AlexTheCarDoctor do I have to replace the cam, if number 3 lifter when bad, because if I did, I remove the lifter on and check the cam by spinning little by little and it just had a little touch nothing like push in or scratch on the cam, cam look healthy?
@@georgeluna8050 I will have to see something like that for myself to Judge
ha! Yea but there's still a Ram in his shop.
@@Mike__P double edged sword lol
Mine sounds like that and it’s a 2023
So what it mean when oil shooting out the rocker arm ? Collapse lifter ??
Pretty much the same thing happened to my car bc someone cant do basic math. 7.600 push rod in an ls3 = no good. mushroomed lifter ruined the cam and lifter bore, wanted 10k to rebuild that engine, found a rebuilt engine for 5k and car STILL isnt together.
Dang bro sorry to hear that
Update?
What causes that start up sound?
GM was sued for the lifter issue with that start/stop tech.
Turning it all off wont solve the issue, you must swap lifters and cam.
They did. Swapped Lifters and Cam and it still failed
Bad cylinder due to dark soothing color
if that car has an afm/dod delete someone did that shit wrong, @ 6:26 u can see the valley cover is NOT SMOOTH. thats ur first sign someone did NOT DO THE JOB RIGHT.
They plug the oil ports, that was the first thing I thought too
How much to fix it. ?
Engine Parts probably made in China or the lowest bidder. Boeing is having similar quality control issues.
China parts and UAW labor are a bad combo
Where’s the update ????👀👀
I’m saying
Wow. A new engine ??? So it wasn't worth a teardown and replacing that faulty lifter ?? I don't trust GM products .. I've seen later model Cameros stuck on the side of the roads enough .. So a DOD delete / mod caused this???

My guess what could happen maybe cheap oil or faulty/cheap lifters
You didnt put the link in the description :(
Dang my bad, what was it for. I can link it here.
@@AlexTheCarDoctor its all good i found the video! Where is your shop located at?
