    yea I mean its a freaking video game, let us at least look as silly as we want, its just xmog so whys it a big deal. It would literally only promote players spending more time in game as well as we would be in search of more xmog options. More game time = more money..thiank about it blizz

    the only thing ill say about this is tier sets are not only mechanically amazing but visually aswell, so id love to actually keep tier sets being made for each individual class that fit the said class but are aloud to be mixed.

    • @TheLostCodex
      @TheLostCodex  2 роки тому

      Oh absolutely, I intentionally didn’t mention any armor in the video because I do believe armor restrictions should remain in place as a core element of an RPG. A class silhouette is ONLY important in a tier set because as you said - it needs to be individually recognizable to that class.
      Beyond that, class silhouette should be player choice and weapon restrictions should be lifted.

    YES! If they're going with having Rexxar (who is a Beastmaster Hunter btw) be the face of Survival who wields two one handed axes - there is no excuse to not have Survival start to ALSO be able to use one handed weapons as well.

    Transmog is what kept me playing this game for YEARS!! I completely agree with you and wish they would lift the restrictions.
    Warglaives.... these piss me off more than anything in WoW! I loved them ever since TBC. I have farmed Illidan's Warglaives on every alt who can wield them. Then they add the ability to transmog them.... only to those who beat Illidan during timewalking. 😡 as a now casual who can no longer raid like I used to back in my college days during WOTLK, this irks me to no end.
    LIFT THE RESTRICTIONS!!
    THROW WIDE THE TRANSMOG GATES!!!
    LET THE PLAYERS HAVE FUN!!!! 🙌

    The weapon type restrictions should be softened, of course, but first they should urgently erase the barriers between the current usable types of any given class! I mean transmog the wands and daggers as 1 handed weapons. Currently, "oh you dropped a wand? that's a shame you can't keep your transmog"
    Same for the Legion system of applying 2-handed weapons on dual wield - and dual on 2H - this should be quickly sorted out.

      While I agree, I think smaller steps needs to happen first as I don't think Blizzard will ever abandon their armor class concept at the drop of a hat.
      There are ways to lean further into it - more cosmetic options with fewer actual armor sets with the exception of tier sets perhaps!
      Either way, I'm all for freeing up restrictions. Weapons have zero argument left in game and hopefully if they respond to this, they'll respond to more changes!

    I begged blizzard to allow Holy Paladins to wield Ashbringer, and when they announced that they'd remove the spec-specific restrictions surrounding artifact appearances, I was overjoyed. Then when the patch released, I realized that Holy Paladins still couldn't wield Ashbringer.

    • @TheLostCodex
      @TheLostCodex  2 роки тому +1

      Yep. It’s possible for a holy Paladin to wield their 2 handed artifact from a 1h and shield but to mog to Ashbringer you’d need a two handed holy weapon to start which doesn’t exist sadly.
      Hopefully the “legion artifact mog rule” will be removed and grant you that!

    One of my transmog dreams is to transmog a 2 hander weapon into a one hander and vice versa for a fury warrior. They use the exact same animations. Imagine the transmog possibilities if we could wield a 2 hander and a 1 hander at the same time a as dual wield without any damage decrease. This is what they should have done instead of bringing SMF back to save the hassle of balancing.

    • @TheLostCodex
      @TheLostCodex  2 роки тому +1

      Completely agree!
      Desmephisto on twitter has been advocating for that and I'm fully in support. SMF shouldn't be a decrease in damage - it should grant Warriors a unique mog option to transform their 2-handers into 1 handers if they so choose. Would be a UNIQUE perk to the class/spec!

    Yeah you convinced me. I came in pretty skeptical because I do think there’s an amount of creativity that you are encouraged to have in order to make some items work, rather than relying on the same swords (or whatever) over and over. But that’s such a minor benefit compared to letting people enjoy the class fantasies they want. I mentioned on Reddit there’s a Polearm in Firelands that matches the MoP Challenge set for Warlocks that I’ve always wanted to put together. Also I’ve had this Blademaster style character I’ve flipped around multiple classes - Warrior, survival hunter, back to warrior, and now he’s a Shaman and I’ve given up on the Blademaster theme. I would LOVE to transmog him back to his Blademaster look and use swords in Enhance.

      I saw your comment on Reddit and I appreciate the replies!
      A lot of folks tend to be resistant to change, especially long-term changes like this. I'm the same way when it comes to armor restrictions being removed.
      But my goal with the video/thread was to break down the argument with the most simple of answers: "Why not? What's the harm" while providing visuals and evidence to back it up.
      Not everyone will agree and some may ACTIVELY wish for MORE restrictions in-game (clowns lmao) but at the end of the day, what does it matter to ME what YOU decide to do with your characters Transmog? How does MY mog impact YOUR play? It doesn't and I'm really quite glad I made somewhat of a compelling argument.
      I tried to not be ridiculous with my changes like "Monks dualwielding wands or Paladins using bows in Ret spec" lmao

    As a New player to Wow in 2023, this is one of my biggest gripes with the game. I play a Monk, and whilst i like the bare hand combat, i would really love the option of Fist weapons to grind for. But due to the fact my strongest weapons are in fact Two handed Staff's, i cant get a cool Glowing fists transmog going due to the weapon restrictions and its very irritating how dated the Tmog is in this game. Plus Loosening the restrictions would give me so much to grind for in terms of transmog looks.

    Just in general I wish they could just F-off with the whole idea that speccs must be synonymous with a certain weapon type.
    I played 2h Fury in TBC Classic. I was never feeling that I underperformed.
    I PVP'd 2h Enhancement. It felt FUN.
    I really don't get these kids on forums that screech like demented pigs whenever you put forward the idea that you want to have the option to do something sub-optimally. I was on the forums before Shadowlands asking Blizz to reimplement 2h Frost DK, and these a-holes started screeching about how it sucks and always will suck and has no place in the game.
    And then when Shadowlands came by we got 2h Frost.
    Can we just remove ALL Weapon requirements on skills and abilities? Ofc ranged and melee is separate. But WHY can't I use Stormstrike with a 2 hander?

    The animations thing doesn't even parse anymore. All races have all the demon hunter specific animations. All the races have all the class specific animations. You can tell by reflecting prisming those classes. Pandaren have all the demon hunter animations, and have had all the death knight animations since legion.
    The closest thing i've seen to an animation bug with weapon wielding happened on the wotlk classic prepatch: originally warriors couldn't titan's grip polearms. But they can on wotlk classic prepatch. If you wield a polearm in your main hand it will bug out all the animations. And the weapons overlap on your back if one is a polearm and the other is a regular 2h. But this isn't uncorrectable.

    • @TheLostCodex
      @TheLostCodex  2 роки тому

      Actually, if you cut to 11:35-11:53 you'll see an Undead wearing the Starting DH zone Warglaives - that's a DH using a prism/toy disguise to transform into an Undead. Only Blood Elves and Night Elves have the appropriate DH animations - the run-with-weapons out, and all other DH associate animations.
      Going into the Wowhead Model viewer you'll see that no other race has those animations and when a DH disguises themselves as another race, the animations default to the 1-handed animations instead of the DH specific animations.
      All other classes, however, have the same animations. All Warlocks, whether the race can be a Warlock or not, has the spell animations. Same with Shaman casting and Druid casting. DH is the only one (and a few select Monk animations) where this isn't the case

    • @10pjesus
      @10pjesus 2 роки тому +1

      @@TheLostCodex yeah great follow up - I think you made a lot of good points and I certainly agree with you in a lot of your examples; but there are a few that I find to be silly. For example; saying sub rogues should be able to backstab with maces or rolling pins or mages should be able to have a lumberjack appearance with a Two Handed Axe.
      Having more options is absolutely a good thing but only if it adds to class flavor like in the example of “dual wielding for xmog” just saying “everyone can do whatever they want” would feel like nothing is unique anymore to me.
      Part of what makes a great xmog is that it falls within the realm of “believability” you could imagine a Warrior Lumberjack not so much a Mage One because why would a mage go through the hassle of cutting wood when they could just use magic? And getting “stabbed” with a mace will never hurt as much as a knife. To reuse those examples.

    • @TheLostCodex
      @TheLostCodex  2 роки тому

      Thanks for the reply! Let me clarify!
      The "lumberjack appearance" wasn't meant to include the 2-handed axe. I simply meant Mages can mog their sword to resemble a few axe-like swords and then mog their chest to hide, use the checkered red shirts and keep it very 'not mage-like'. Since your Frost Mage CAN look that part and mog 1h swords or daggers - why can't they use a 1-h axe? Not like mages/priests/warlocks even use their weapons as it sits on their hip so is there harm there?
      Sub Rogues is something we disagree on. They are the only class in game locked/restricted to a single weapontype. Considering MANY daggers are the size of swords or use models like wrenches/axes/torches, is there really any difference if daggers are allowed to mog into 1-h swords/maces/axes
      Class flavor should be up to the player within the realm of their armor capabilities, no? A 2h sword or mace on a mage is silly, but 20% of the staves in game share models identical to polearms and really - what difference is there between a polearm and a stave for a caster?
      I tried to be as logical and within-fantasy as possible.
      To me, a mage using an axe or a scepter (1-handed) is not fantasy breaking; a mage using a 2-handed sword? Sure! Absolutely.
      Same as a Paladin using a Wand as a main hand weapon to tank. But a Retribution Paladin using a staff to smite and beat their enemies to death is not fantasy breaking, to me.
      I don't actually agree with the "Do whatever you want" mog restrictions - I believe armor class should remain and I believe SOME limitations should stay for weapons. Wands for monks, crossbows for Warlocks, or daggers for Paladins seems silly.
      Appreciate the reply and discussion :)

    I just wanna be able to hide my pants. Also, the thing they did for shoulders, they should do for gloves too. Oh oh, and also if a class can equip it, it should be moggable. Like plate mogging mail leather and cloth mogs.

    • @TheLostCodex
      @TheLostCodex  2 роки тому

      Agree on the pants - we can already mog really small loincloths, so why not let us hide pants?
      Gloves are a whole other story. I actually petitioned for this very idea a little while back until someone explained why that is a lot harder to do. I'm gonna explain it in a very messy way, so bare with me.
      On a WoW model, the shoulders are independent models that can be toggled on and off - hiding shoulders, left or right, was always possible in the model viewer because it was technically a model ontop of the player model (same with helm)
      Gloves, however, become part of the model with 3d components on top. Some have a default "Collection" (which is why many gloves from back in the day have the same 3d chunky wrist part) and other gloves are just flat, painted on textures. In some instances, the gloves are specifically designed to be asymmetrical (Kul Tiras leather gloves for example) but in most cases, the glove texture is a mirrored thing - what goes on one, goes on the other. Same for chest and pants.
      The gloves that are asymmetrical are designed so that one so shows x one side shows y but as of now, with how the models are set up, there is no way to give 2 separate gloves to a player model (even in the model viewer).
      BUT I do hope they allow for that - it would take a huge overhaul on how the models work but gosh it would be cool!
      Hope that explains a bit?

      And why can't Warriors use staves? You're advocating for more change? Why wouldn't you want more freedom across all classes?

      So your argument is because Warriors have an added bonus by being able to use the most weapons, it's unfair when unlocking weapons so those options should be TAKEN away to level the playing field....after 18 years?

      I'm all for less restrictions but seem far more work/animation intensive than othersa
      How would dual-wielding Crossbows work for Paladins? They just smack you with the crossbow instead of firing? How would tanking work?
      How would a Monk using wands work? I think there is some justification for SOME restrictions, but ultimately if its "Everything should be free or nothing at all" bring on the dual-wielding Crossbowadins!

    I disagree. You let every1 be able to use the same weapon sounds lame to me. This is an mmo rpg is it not? in Dnd does every class get to use every weapon in game? nope. A wizzard using a 2h great axe sounds like cancel culture to me. rpg games originated from DnD. classes should stand out, that's partially why wizzards use wands, warriors use 2h weapons, druids use staffs ,To feel unique, giving every1 the ability to use any weapon in game takes away from their uniqueness as a playable character. Keep the weapon restrictions how they are.

      Why can’t a Warlock wield a sceptre? Why can’t a priest use a sword?
      What’s so DND class shattering about a Paladin using a staff (WoW staves are huge) or a warlock can use scythe-staves but not scythe polearms?
      Why can’t priests use a sword?
      And to use your examples - Druids can use polearms, staves, 1h maces, daggers, fist weapons - but they can’t wield a sword? Where’s the logic
      There is no reason why weapon restrictions should stay. The archaic 2004 reasoning for weapon restrictions are obsolete - you want to enforce your baseless class fantasy ? Fine. But let my priest use a sword or let me mage wield a 1handed axe (i never said 2 under axe for mages). What I mog my characters as doesn’t impact you

      But you didn't - you aid "Wizards use wands"
      False - my wizard in Wow can use a wand, dagger, staff and sword.
      So if he can use all those, what's the harm in that sword being a 1-handed mace? Not asking for a huge axe or sword on a caster - just similar weapon types.
      Uniqueness tied to limitation on a specific class means nothing when there are already hundreds to thousands of transmogging options for people to embrace. Just because a Shaman can suddenly use a sword doesn't make them any less unique than a rogue or monk who's wielding a sword

    As a Death Knight main, I really need staff transmog requirement lifted. My biggest class fantasy is having those beautiful Drust scythes from Ardenweald! And while it may be just me, a lot of staffs are just Scythes anyway!! There is no point in keeping such majestic weapons to casters and warriors :(
