The last group were goths, the ones before were more just gothic they appreciated the look and obviously the club scene but probably not for the music. Which is fine, sometimes appreciation for the music comes later, maybe they are new to the scene. I mean early 1980s most people were new to it. Goth was just starting to develop and distinguish itself out of punk. Wasn't till the mid 1980s that it was even considered its own separate genre, before it was all post punk. If you interviewed the first 2 again and maybe the lady they probably would not have even mentioned Glenn Miller.
Thank you for posting this, seen it before I cannot agree more, such as "kill star" satan stuff = no thanks, there are other brands or diy. Keep spreading the word.

Un look gothique comme j'ai aimé et que j'aime toujours.... Ils sont beaux, les 2 du début....... Le journaliste par contre....
Im frustated goth from a land most people would problably would think that there are no goths i mean there is no goth scene actually but there are a lot of people that know the typical the classics and i always wanted to be able to follow and support my favorite bands from old ones that are still going to bands that were on the 90s i listen to a lot of bands from 80s 90s, 00s and more moderns ones the genre is still alive its perfect but i don' t all this separation of the scene and subculture. I think ill never will be able to get pass this mess. I guess will continue to fight alone for the genre that i love and i would never separte things because they all infuenced eachother at least how everything end up being i mean i dont care if once problably darkwave was not influenced goth but it end up influencing each other and the whole darkwave label ive seen from old interviews its was used for other bands from the uk who were passing through goth rock and not taking influences from synthpop and for me it will always be gothic rock GOTHIC i my opinion its the right label but that depend on the person right but i dont like people in the scene using it to people who like things from the subculture but the are never interest in the music and beacuse you like things that are not goth do not mean that you aren't a goth why are people so limitating love you Rozz Williams. Or is it just people trying so hard to fit in in a certained category humh!!!! 🤔🤔🤔
Is it just me or is the interviewer guy a bit cold in his manner? It's like he's taking pee and being slightly condescending and it's bringing back memories of what journalists of the time were like on telly. All the Goths are smiley and nice. "Your hairs not as bad as the last two" and it's like he's being horrid about how they source their clothes which really he shouldn't be surprised at coz of the punks in the 70s. It's a shame it isn't someone like gaztop being the interviewer, who is alternative himself. Or is it coz he's from London? With the north South divide? All journalists in the punk era wanted ALL the punks to be unemployed to say "look at them they're good for nothings " and they were still like it into the 90s aswell and the bloke is like it with these. It's annoying me how he is. The Goths are loads bubbly and smiley and friendly. He's even cut off the hairdresser dude naming his bands he likes after he's asked him. Ugh. Yey to the Goths. Ugh to the interviewer man.
I used to watch music box I'm younger than the people on the footage, but is set video timer and it's gaztop introduced me to siouxsie, the cramps, the cure etc etc. That's why it would have been even more jollier if someone like him interviewed them.
They could have been new to the scene and they also mentioned that they have a wide range of music tastes. Just because they said they like Glenn Miller doesn’t mean they aren’t goth. They don’t have to just like goth music and goth music only...that would just be boring. Obviously if you want to dress like and say that you’re part of a certain subculture then music is one of the big things you need to be into but it’s bad to assume that they don’t listen to any goth artists or bands.
All british reporters are quite obsessed with the employment status of the youth.
isn't he Australian tho?
@@taylor.london no he’s English. He’s got a cockney accent.
Wait a sec, you mean the first couple didn't shop at Hot Topic or spend $100+ for a bell sleeve top at a specialty online goth retailer?
Gemini puddleduck
hot topic didn't exist until the 90s/1989
