It was much more difficult to acquire decor and furniture of this style in the 90's before internet. Even with stores, it was either thrifting, painting & restyling, DIY, Estate Sells, or getting very lucky in a shop. Bigger cities probably had it a bit easier.
What beautifully decorated homes; I wish more people put this much of “themselves” into the spaces they live, instead of the typical “Gee, this painting looks really swell over the couch.” 💗☠️
Last I heard from someone (another Goth) who lives near that area, back around the year 2000 the main person who owned those apartments had to move out of state, due to that eventually more & more Norms moved in until it became a Norm apartment again. It has been years since I was told that, so I may now have some of the facts wrong. I guess we will just have to wait for one of the people in the video to see this & comment ;) .
What happened to the Goth apartment building? Did you actually end up with a building lived in by lots of Goths? What is your decor like nearly 20 years later?
@@priscillaielasi1910 I've been Goth for nearly 20 years, so I get that, but I was wondering if it was now EVEN MORE GOTHIC, especially as there's now so many more made-to-look- spooky things you can get (Haunt Furniture and CAS Designs exist, for example) and now that there's so many things made to be sold at Halloween but which are made nicely to last rather than temporary decorations/party tat. I'm going to guess these people will have moved house since then, so I'm curious as to what they've all done.
@@DomesticatedGoth oh lol yeh there's other places get things that arnt haunt or I'm sure diy I diy I don't like the marketed stuff they push nowadays myself
Very nice!!! I too am a collector of the unusual, but I think I need more shelving. Things are too cluttered at the moment. I, we me and my girl, seem to be the only one's that are into this eclectic way of life in my area. I just can't seem to find anyone into Goth like myself anywhere near me. Heavy Sigh... oh well at least I can see it here gives me hope lol.
Imagine how i felt when i lost my Dakota bequiethed home? New York was by far the most Vampire. We lived our own way..residents...now the city is minus my kids+i who are overseas 4 mostly reasons i cant reveal.
The building idea sounds nice. Unfortunately I dont see any people who really are enveloped in the goth sentiment such as myself besides my husband. Nice decor overall, not so fond of the coffin thing but I do understand it.
I quite don´t get this side of the gothic subculture... the slick hair with the beards, the fancy history touch... I mean, I also like history, but that? I don´t get it... where is the post-punk attitude?
Mr. Kemplin why difnt you all just jointly buy the residence? The so called norms had just as much rite to live there as yourselves because you all were rent payers. It seems only fitting that you would have apl gathered to make an offer of purchase. Regards Maestro Inferno
Style, art, poetry, dancing, hobbies, decor. Goth is a lifestyle, not just music.
This is what Goth subculture really is instead of the nowadays stereotypical fashion obsessed mainstream friendly Goth scene!
This is still about aesthetics, though.
Right, cause the people in this documentary aren't obsessed with fashion, lol.
@@thatbitchnoemie Maybe you missed the part where the show their home decor and not just the fashion.
@wonderful christmastime if you like something it means you appreciate it. When you live it it means you believe in it.

Love the memorial. A very touching addition to any home decor.

Anyone know where this building is?? I wonder if they ever got all goths/vamps living there, and if so I'd very much like to move in 🖤
gorgeous
0:56 he's low key pretty hot ngl
What is the song in the beginning? Great video!!
It reminds me of my two aunt's houses, a victorian era. Except for the coffins & the bdsm things. haha
That painting is called The Young Martyr, not Death Of The Martyr.
Was a good time
Now it would be 16 year old instagrammers having killstar pr packages constantly delivered to their front doors.
Oh now i want to move there. Is it still a thing they live there right?
song playing at 2:22??
I'm not sure, but the band should be listed with the others during the credits.
