@@Spade_Caller Decent Culture was always suppressed. There was always a feel of subversion about it. To give the people "what they wanted " rather than "what you want them to want" was always the aim of the Industry.
That's me on drums at 2:30 in the video. I auditioned and joined the band in '81 (I think) , had my 21st birthday (Oct 11) on a transatlantic flight to play a gig in Berlin as our second show after some gigs in L.A. on Sunset Blvd (Troubadour, etc...). I think the video shows a concert from a new years eve party at The World, a club in New York, the party run by Warhol and others, if the year is 1983 as shown. I am playing an all fiberglass kit (except snare) consisting of 5 Pearl tom toms and one floor tom, and a single North bass drum, with two symmetrical Chinese cymbals stacked with medium Pasties up high for short decay, and an assortment of others.
that's massive! I bet it's been a wild ride. Nina Hagen really is such an extraordinary artists touring with her must been a unbelievable experience. 🌪️
@@Kuemomusic Yeah, I was so surprised when I got the gig after the audition. When I auditioned, I was so down on my luck, I sat down, adjusted the drums, and improvised grooves for about 50 minutes. I would not stop, I said 'fuck it, I'm gonna play till they throw me out'. I guess that was impressive, I got the gig. Yeah, it was eye opening, I barely knew the punk scene, I was into progressive rock and jazz, and the life of a touring musician is... interesting. Also, Nina is and was a total nut case, in the nicest way possible.
My friend met her while working as a cashier in a grocery store in LA. They hit it off and she asked if he was a musician. He was. Next thing you know, he’s going on tour with her as her bassist. She didn’t stick to a set list. He had to keep on his toes playing with her.
I just laugh when kids say singers like Billie Elish are "so different and weird and there's no one else like them". I've got nothing against Billie and her music, but her "quirkiness" is pretty tame compared to anything Nina Hagen has done, sang and wore like...30 years ago.
Yes yes, they don’t make music as they used to, musicians used to be talented and original, music died conveniently the day stopped buying record. Nah man, you’re just old.
She is from East Germany and was trained as an opera singer. That is why she has such a big vocal range. She can do high pitched sopranos. scratchy growl, Donald Duck voices, talk as deeply as a man, and a bunch of other stuff, two. And in at least two languages. She clearly knows her Bowie, Sinatra, Marly, Rotten, and many others.
I am just now discovering her and I am blown away by her creativity and versatility. I also so appreciate how she keeps on going and keeps the vibe even as she's losing her voice. 😍
Nina is almost beyond the musical form, she's like performance art. You're either on board or you are not. I understand those who don't, because she is uncompromising and pulls a left turn more often than you'd expect. She's campy and verging on histrionic.
I saw the Bowie art gallery show featuring all his looks and outrageous costumes, but see your point. Anybody think that for the first handful of years, Nina's small haircut made her face look SO huge like a small kid, it's really weird. Later on her big dark wig makes her an erotic goddess. She seems like a powerful woman, a queen.
Way back in 1982, a co-worker told me that she'd bought an album that absolutely hated and asked me if I wanted it. It was called Nunsexmonkrock and had a picture of a woman holding a baby on the cover. I'd never heard of Nina Hagen and said sure and when I got home put it on and the very first thing that I heard was Antiworld. It took about 30 seconds before I absolutely fell in love with that amazing woman and her amazing voice. I'm still listening to her to this day.
I discovered Klaus Nomi soon after and absolutely fell in love with German music. I've found that some o my favourite prog rock bands are from Germany as well. Jane, Frumpy , Grobschnitt and Kraftwerk are in my regular music rotation.
I had the honor of meeting her backstage at Irving Plaza in NYC in 1983...her blue hair phase. Will never forget the little baby earrings she had in both lobes and her Brilliant Blue Mohawk. We were standing on the stairs during soundcheck(I was installing the light system) on Stage Left and was introduced to her by the Stage Manager. I shook her hand and she said "Hi! I"m Nina! I'm a little crazy!" while her baby earrings danced. One of my favorite moments in the decades of working with musicians and celebrities. She is a goddess. One of a kind. Her sound from the 70's can still be heard today. Her bands and engineers were amazing at how they made such great sounds and captured her magnificent, operatic voice so powerfully. So glad you put this together. Namaste.
She was huge on the Punk scene in the late 70's, very popular in Europe, Norway, her boyfriend was only 12 years old and she used to walk around hand in hand wt the kid‼️Eccentric and wild, there's a video on UA-cam where she sings Jazz‼️🎯JazzyT.
She was very cute in her earlier years , remind me of Liza Minnelli in Cabaret. Still she was also after, and a very special artist that deserve much more credits in the history of music. Very original and generous.
I met her in 1985 or 1986, I was suffering from leucaemia in 1984 and when I was healed and already at home for a while the hospital asked me to come and join the day when she would be there to meet the cancer-station for kids. I was there and looking for her apearance. I was guessing she would come in a big black car. But she came barefoot on a skateboard. She sang mantras with the kids and was so nice and heartwarming that I changed my opinion about her emediantly. I later read about her she uses to help and work in hospizes (where people shurely will soon die) for an amount of time each year. She seens so crazy but shes so lovely
This woman is utterly amazing! And she doesn't age at all. From the 70s all the way up to today, she looks that same as she did back then. I was introduced to her music back in the late 90s and didn't quite understand what she was about until much later. Now, I love her and think she is the best thing since ice cream!
I always find myself amazed at how Nina went with almost every single musical "moments" of the past 4 decades and still managed to stay unique and true to herself. That's an musical genius right there.
@@daninoa9650 - I'm from Chihuahua (Mexico), and I discovered her for her Seemann cover. I immediately fell in love with how low her voice can go (since having sometimes a deep voice it's something I didn't used to like about myself), and all of her music, style and personality made me love her even MORE. That's a queen right there. She's now on my top artist that I can't live without list.
A full artist, with an incredible voice, I went crazy when i first watched her on TV, i was a teenager and she was super amazing with her voice, look and attitude 😍
Nina Hagen is one of Germany's most underrated artists - the studio album she did with her band in 1978 (simply called NINA HAGEN BAND) is one of a kind, with a 23-year old Nina pulling all the stops with her unique voice ... being the »Godmother of Punk« and so much more, at the same time. Among other things, she does audio dramas these days, too and supports patients which are being held in psychiatric hospitals against their will (without drawing attention to her efforts which is rare these days, if it comes to "celebrities" and volunteerism..). She might not be in the public eye as much as others but then she has never been one to sell out her art!
With someone as vocally talented as Nina Hagen, you have to respect her ability to experiment musically and go against the industry norms. She's still here and performing after 40+ years, so she's obviously doing something right.
I FINALLY saw her in '94 in Seattle. I was SHOCKED that this Larger than life Woman I'd been worshipping for a decade was, in fact, about 5'2", 90lbs !? Amazingk Lady! Eternal Thx🖤
Thank you so much for posting this video. I recently, randomly came across a video of hers and her performance/stage presence/voice was amazing. I can’t say I’ve seen anything like it before. This video helped to get an idea of her range. She’s all over the place while genuinely being herself without compromising her artistic integrity and over several decades to boot¡ I will definitely check all her stuff.
@@Stevenaramburo At her 50's she looked as if she was in her 30's, and at her 60's she looks as if she was in her late 40's, so I think that's pretty good.
Growing up during the 90s in Austria, I often used to see glimpses of her on TV, but I never really knew what she was famous for. I just knew that she was weird, kinda scary, but also funny and so I concluded that she was probably just famous for being weird. lol. Only as an adult did I find out that she has one of the most amazing voices in the music business.
Certainly was famous for taking off all her clothes in a direct Austrian TV interview (not that they were too quick about turning off the cameras). LOL!
I remember back in 1978, in German course at school, I proposed to study a song by Nina Hagen Band entitled "Ich glotz TV" ("I watch TV"), from her first album. And my teacher agreed ! Thank you for this video, this is an endless pleasure.

Danke für diese Zusammenstellung! Viele wissen gar nicht wie unterschiedlich sie singen und auftreten kann. Eine Künstlerin, die sicher nie vergessen wird 🌹
Almost fifty years on the stages, Nina!! She is a leyend, his performance not recomendable to Shakira's public. The dresses, the make up, his funny faces, his mesosoprano voice, the furius, the energy, all of them; I like it !!! Thank you Nina, thank you very much!!
Судя по выступлениям, она Артистка и Исполнительница с большой буквы. Может исполнять песни любого жанра и всё равно смотреться органично в новом амплуа.
What a talented and unique singer/entertainer. She has been overlooked by the media and she is one of a kind. I am captivated by her performances. She puts her heart into her music.
I can deny that. Because it’s incorrect. Punk started in the US during the early 70’s. The “Mother of punk” would probably Suzi Quatro or Joan Jett. She’s not even a pioneer, considering the fact that she completely changed her style in the late 70’s (to punk). Denied!
Her first two big albums, Unbehagen and Nina Hagen Band are absolutely epic psych rock, and her forays into pop afterwards, Fearless, Nunsexmonkrock and Nina in Ekstasy are some of the best music of the era. When I was a club kid back in the 80’s she was an absolute Goddess in our group. I got to see her in LA in the early 2000’s several times and even got to meet her when she played an acoustic set for about twenty fans in a small bar. She hung out and chatted with us after and I told her how important she’d been to me and my friends back in the day. She looked me in the eye and reached out her hand and caressed my cheek like a mother would do to a small child. It meant a lot. Thanks for the upload. It’s great to see her going strong after all these years.
Back in my punk days, I was the only one of my punk friends listening to Nina. While everyone else was wallowing in nihilism, Nina consistently had a fierce, positive message which was so important to an impressionable and depressive teen such as myself. She taught me to never compromise and be true to myself and regardless hope and joy do exist. I told her as much on her message board when the internet first came into being (maybe 2001?) and Nina herself answered me with "A BIG SOULKISS FOR YOU!!" I'm tearing up just thinking about that. Some people say never meet your idols but when it comes to Nina, yes, she is the real deal.
My Dad loved Nina and we grew up listeming to her. What a brilliantly talented, brave and innovative lady. ❤️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💋❤️💋❤️With live from Wales Lady Hagen. Class act
Her transformation is fantastic. In the beginning she was like the government of the former GDR ( german democratic republic) singing kind of "folk music ". But she wasn't comfortable for the government and they kicked her out to West Germany (at this time the big wall between east and west Germany still exist). She is wonderful crazy and she says what she want...She isn't a puppet on the string and they can't press her into a commercial role😍😘😍😘😍😘😍
Nina Hagen has been a woman who revolutionized rock, set a trend to what at the time was called rock punk, versatile, witty left a mark on the way to make your shows, with a voice out of series your songs will always be remembered.
What a good idea to show us this race through time with Nina Hagen. I've seen her 25 times and meet her in 2004 in Montreux. She inspires so many artists. I am a fan since 1978. Now I am old but she 's still number one for me.
The talent, the voice, the looks. That's it - You have to love Nina! What else can You do? Nothing but love Her! Oh and eyes! The eyes that She does often! So beautiful and crazy at the same time! Ugh! Love! Love! Love!
um....because? it isn't a zero sum game. the values aren't absolute. it's completely subjective. they can all be great without any of them having to be...non-entities? seriously? do you even understand what the term means?
do you understand the term "seem" It expresses his subjective opinion and view of his facet of reality. it may not be to you, but who cares. to me Neither madonna nor gaga can compare.
Nacht Kind 'seem' def: give the impression or sensation of being something or having a particular quality. It is *not* exclusively subjective, as you *seem* to think. The point was that dismissing living breathing human beings as non-entities is absurd to the point of being meaningless. It is one thing to express profound admiration for Nina - I certainly feel that way - but doing so by declaring other performers non-existent is unnecessary and just plain dumb.
It is not exclusively subjective, however, in the context he was using it in it was. Also, your example proves my point with that. The context you used it in is quite subjective. it may appear to YOU that I think it is exclusively subjective, however, I do not. And there may be many others that do not share your viewpoint on my words. You telling someone else that they cannot see a couple of performers as non-entities is actually quite absurd and unnecessary. They may mean something to you, but to many other people they may not mean anything. Or to some they may be a cheap copy, and that would be their worth. and seeing as he said they seem that pretty much sums up it. He's not telling anyone else to ignore them. He's expressing his own view.. which is the context that makes the word seems subjective. This piece of art seems depressing (subjective, about emotion which can be interpeted different ways) You seem to have a third arm growing out of your body = objective interpretation, however it still relies on the persons interpretation of what that object growing there might be To him they might as well not exist, that is his subjective opinion.
i LOVE HER WHAT- her style is so unique omfg a i love it all and tho she seems to be rly spunky she honestly seems like she’d be such a nice person wooow
I really like how she keeps up with the times! She lived through so many musical eras and found herself in each of them, and it's incredible! Just very talented and unique person that never been afraid of experiments
Her doing Bowie hit me in the feels! Good for her with adopting an interpretation of so many other singer's art! I really like that you can hear her voice age & become so much more mature/respectable/memorable as she goes through the years. Thank you to whomever put this together.
They are all three of them wrong, Wrong, WRONG, giving us nunscence [sic] about gradual strain over the years... It was the multiple jelly woobles she continued to throw, constantly losing the plot, giving birth to a farrow of piglets at any breath of disunification from ANYone, esp fellow interviewees on german talk shows, ALONG with the marched retreating a-HUFFING and a-PUFFING in oh-so-obvious grumptitudes outta that recalcitrant TV networks studios and even worse for her VOX the fact it was all filmed and disseminated to a bunch of non EN nations that think she pretty much is Out Da Gate already anyways, and always was after she nearly was brainwashed into being an alabastered non questioning never rebelling East German Sängerin propagating the party line to ... NO one. The demograph she was supposed to be shilling at didnt want a bar of ANY of it. They could sniff a farrowed nest of waiting pre-tempered trammelled and hidden away piglets from a mile orf and they were anyways were all clustered along the Berlin walls waiting for Depeche Mode to 'urry up, form and make some decent albums, those Ossis knew that the black n white facey was a play by the State to try and be hip and cool and cuntroll them all. ETERNALLY entrammelled in her self auto dynamiced localised to just her and her movements but wisible to ANYone Nini's VOX was already being hit by little nagativities chipping away at one of her shoulders as it like wise weakened her VOX in such tiny increments it would only start collapsing twenty to thirty years and the black and white visible spectrumed Sängerin, East Germanated as a mere singing receptacle for the State (kind of like a songbird that is lived in a not at all beautiful non-guilded cage, so it starts getting fucked off and pecking at Life and wanting to a-jutt its jaw out at any HINT of localised in-cumming CUNTROLL(disasterously for the VOX's health too :( the VOX is gonna be ACTING OUT from even a MINUTE of ANY of ANYONES shizz). Her VOX was not going to chronologically later take any of THAT very well: "Future is NOW" she criptically and knowingly tease-baited helda-esqly chiming another « Future ist NOOOOOWE» (poss VOX damage there on the ´ NOOOWWWE" on one blissfuelled and amazingly non dramaticussed exitussed Television apparance (one had an album to promote, her first solo one, so no tears and tantummings THIS time (Future is NOwww) JAAAAAH?" Add to all of the devoxilating head shugging there a-comes closed up and partially hidden oinking coming from only the Lord better be the only one who stays knowing from where they collectively OInkregate togedder. Her non-lethally throwing whole kine at non hindus that she would spot in her audiences, having MASSIVE FAT ATTACKS ON AIR LIVE in the visual medium, releasing MYRIAD bestovs ad nauseum with no new tracks to add to the well-worn bioRUFFical mix that samewise was released around die Welt(Thanks «Love») causing an incrimental slight change of loss to her voxilater every fucking time we got yet another samey bestov with a bad sleevage (bar Heiss. that one rocks). The Xixaxed mis-behaviours continue. Future WAS Now then wasn't it and die Hagenerin had to lay down her almighty sky-spirited law now didnt she. After all she was signed to CBS and not an independent like mute records so she was stuck contracted to the Establishment which may have made her want to TRY and colour herself anti all that. The complementary clucking was perfected. The inner rumblings oinked on ever hidden and trammelled. Things MUST come to an head somewhere. Some is bound to actually NOT tow the line and worse dissagree and worse in a TV studio, and worse whilst there is a talk show laying there dejectedly waiting there to be walked jettedly and increasingly worrisomly EXITED out of. Her VOX must have been shitting her... I mean itself at the possible Greatest Calamnity. It could just Smauglike snuff itself out in one untrammelled shriek, mirrors could be shattered. Octaves could be squandered and the VOXal deprivations continued anon: unknowingly clubbing fellow Nina Hagen Banders in the face SUR SCÈNE whilst swinging the microphone stand about her in a fireworks sparkler fit of pique AND her seeping voice OUT onto them and sometime the voice the audience (which was supposed to happen anyways but youre supposed to keep your VOX at the end of it... SHE DIDN'T: the VOX abated slowly), and the clucking. The awesome fucking clucking. THOSE Did It. ALL OF IT... Then one day whilst she say with her arse stuck in a metal rubbish bin out the back of some crappy video shoot while she was TOO FUCKING BUSY playing Ru Paul lip queen fucking stupid mawkish lip shape games like her face was the later Ru Paulled smartphone app of the samey conception she was being too bloody clever, or thought herself so and she halved herself IN to the said binsnapping herself shut like a ball schnapping arse crpper of a pet dog that is human shaped and can be forced to fold iteldinto half She had jammed herself INTO the bin and her feet were pocking out the top of it right by her face (and the stupid lip app whutevas werent being assayed now neither blessedly, but this was MAJOR FAT ATTACK COUNTRY ABOUT TO GO DOOOOWN. Alas VOX danger was averted cos you need space to get your attack fatted out there and she was follded inside a smelly rubbish bin and couldnt move. A bumblebee later buzzed nonchalantly past her AWAY from her never nearing her more than 1968 metres, what happened: she bloody heard the thing bumming out its buzz and immediately grew jealous that it was buzzing and out of it and she was a folded stinking binned stupid lipped non entity who juuust managed to walk her stuck self in the bin with her two mashed together feet and head out of VOXal safety. The resulting explosion accually kept North East Europe fed in baby pig fleh for quite some time from her bin-lifed state a full packing two thousand strong farrowload of piglets MOTHERBEARTHED EXPLODING out by her ONto the bumblebees nearby familial quotidian nest (no BUMBLEbees were harmed through out the whole two year ordeal it took her aand UNESCO to get the whole genus farrowed outta her onto an area of the EU the size of Cleves). THAT alone was the coup de grace in deciding the later FATE decimating her VOX. So lets not be flying away high and sly with the slow effectuation of SCREAMING EVERYONES TITS OUT OF EVERY ORIFI SO THEY WILL HEAR ME & MY ECHOES IN BREXITLAND semi centuries later as a continual knock sown VOX DEEFECT and her VOX just gave up its ghost which was down to fucking blessed providence anyways OR of the slow over the years happenstancelater causing my VOX to erode. Thats about as real as HUMAN CAUSED Global Warming.. I mean Personal Jesus and all of the other religious mumbo jumbo. Never bought that album nor the following german punkrocky one either cos her poor voice just WORRIES now when it is walked machinated outta its cell to be sanged with, which saddens me too cos I love Nini and I miss her too. There.
Very interresting and amazing, nearly the complete musical bandwith of the last 50 years in one musician/artist - what a colourfull and creative life. Congrats Nina, well done!

I met Nina after a small venue in NYC, after the show was over, I was going to go home - Michael, a friend of Nina's said she wants you to come out with us. 2 minutes later Nina comes up to me, started talking to me as if I knew her a lifetime. Then Michael, myself and Nina were all seated in the backseat of a friend's car - I almost had to pinch myself - we even sang songs together with her - it was a wild moment. We all went out to eat at The Moonstruck Diner and then we went bar hopping - the bartenders at every bar we went to refused to take any money for anything because we were with Nina - not even tips! So our little group got the red carpet treatment - we went out at 10:30pm - 5:30am - Nina loves the night life. She was fantastic - One hell of a night to remember - it was definitely a dream come true.
Das Spektrum ist so breit, das ist fast nicht auszuhalten und da waren noch ein paar Peaks, die hier nicht drin waren. Danke für diese Zusammenstellung!
Pure perfected vocal artistry at its best ! Iconic to say the least ! A beautiful soul of humanity and selfless Love 💞 to people in need . She is the GODDESS OF PUNK !
She made no compromises, and her first 20 years were sensational. She now lost her voice, but few are as courageous as she was in the 70ies and 80ies. And as original.
Back in the 80s when I first turned on to Nina, I thought she was very advanced and absolutely unique. Seeing this vid, I'm only more convinced of it. She's an absolute artistic jewel !
I Love Nina Hagen, since discovering her in '82 and this is an amazing compilation. That said, I must say that starting half way through watching this my 2 cats have been tear assing around the apartment
I'm 51 and kinda put my nose in the air when the early 80's brought artists like her. Little did I know how ballsy and true to herself artists like her where. The sanitized, phoney focus-group HORSESHIT now like Nicki Minaj puts out makes me appreciate Nena Hagen more then I ever thought possible. Effing genius actually.
The specter is so vide, and there's only one that sings like Nina Hagen from Deutschland‼️I saw you as a wonderful Jazz vocalist on UA-cam, a great singer‼️❤️ your music on the Punk scene in the late 70's, an intense vibe that I liked emmediently ‼️🎯💎🌹JazzyT.
She came to Rock in Rio I here in Brazil, in 1985. At a festival that had massive guests at the height of the Heavy Metal scene. Still, she made a great presentation and captivated the audience on the day of her concert, with 250 thousand people.

It's so strange how you can go through life listening to different styles of music and never once hear of an artist like Nina Hagen.
She was huge in Europe, Norway, in the late 80s, at the Punk scene, I have seen her at UA-cam as a good Jazz vocalist, to‼️🎯JazzyT.
To be fair maybe she wasn't that huge in America.
I can never imagine such a Hell on Earth ...

Cool
that's massive!
I bet it felt cool when you spotted yourself. 😀
I bet it felt cool when you spotted yourself. 😃
My friend met her while working as a cashier in a grocery store in LA. They hit it off and she asked if he was a musician. He was. Next thing you know, he’s going on tour with her as her bassist.
She didn’t stick to a set list. He had to keep on his toes playing with her.
Wow...!

I just laugh when kids say singers like Billie Elish are "so different and weird and there's no one else like them". I've got nothing against Billie and her music, but her "quirkiness" is pretty tame compared to anything Nina Hagen has done, sang and wore like...30 years ago.
Absolutely
i dont think billie eilish knows nina hagen:D
felipe21279 You are so right, Nobody remembers the artistically ingenious but they feed off the remnants.
Yes yes, they don’t make music as they used to, musicians used to be talented and original, music died conveniently the day stopped buying record. Nah man, you’re just old.
This Billie something is rubbish, I can't listen to 30 second of any of her songs.
You could say "ahead of her time" but I like to think of Nina (and a few others) as "outside of time"

Thank you, Very interesting…I always thought her voice was very operatic.
Fuck your opera training. She is great by his own only. Talent in it's pure form
She and Lene Lovich fell out of the same tree
Not anymore she can’t unfortunately. Not sure what she’s done to her voice but she has no range anymore. Just deep & scratchy

She started smoking with 13 and unfortunately never stopped, that's what happened.. 😞
I´m certainly "ON BOARD" ;-)

She was influenced by him somehow.
She covered Ziggy Stardust in 1980 (as shown in this video). Pretty decent cover honestly
But he did.
@@furiouslysad5807 Exactly! They both had a lot of looks.

Namaste.
That's amazing 🤩 What did you do for work?

This. All of this
She was very cute in her earlier years , remind me of Liza Minnelli in Cabaret. Still she was also after, and a very special artist that deserve much more credits in the history of music. Very original and generous.
I Wanted also say how much she reminds me of liza, glad I'm not the only one
Considering Nina's cultural history includes Weimar Germany, I think the comparison is apt.
Doh
Hey Nina, which genre of music do you wanna revolutionize?
Nina: :)
Muuaahahaa🙃
This woman is utterly amazing! And she doesn't age at all. From the 70s all the way up to today, she looks that same as she did back then. I was introduced to her music back in the late 90s and didn't quite understand what she was about until much later. Now, I love her and think she is the best thing since ice cream!
I always find myself amazed at how Nina went with almost every single musical "moments" of the past 4 decades and still managed to stay unique and true to herself.
That's an musical genius right there.
I can't get enough of her, ever. She inspires me to be my very loud, energetic, unapologetic self.

It makes me so happy to see that she is appreciated outside of Germany, especially because many people here don't appreciate our own musicians.

Listing to falco!!!
Its not that she is underrated but she does not really have any good songs. You can't make it with a good voice alone.

Only as an adult did I find out that she has one of the most amazing voices in the music business.

She is the mother punk, and a pioneer of punk, and nobody can't deny that

I can deny that. Because it’s incorrect.
Punk started in the US during the early 70’s. The “Mother of punk” would probably Suzi Quatro or Joan Jett.
She’s not even a pioneer, considering the fact that she completely changed her style in the late 70’s (to punk).

Madonna & Lady Gaga seem negligible non-entities beside her....
um....because? it isn't a zero sum game. the values aren't absolute. it's completely subjective. they can all be great without any of them having to be...non-entities? seriously? do you even understand what the term means?
Nina is the best
do you understand the term "seem" It expresses his subjective opinion and view of his facet of reality. it may not be to you, but who cares.
to me Neither madonna nor gaga can compare.
This piece of art seems depressing (subjective, about emotion which can be interpeted different ways)
You seem to have a third arm growing out of your body = objective interpretation, however it still relies on the persons interpretation of what that object growing there might be
To him they might as well not exist, that is his subjective opinion.

English please...
@@briankocheraabcdt4628 "when i clicked on this video i didn't expect to watch it until the end. But i did. I was totally captured and didn't know she had that vocal range. Respect" there you go
I didn't know she sang in English aswell
JA, sie ist etwas "Besonderes"! 😇💎😇❤️💎🎶🎵💎
Kein Wunder bei einer Frau mit dem stimmspektrum +klassische Oper ausbildung
Something weird must've happened in 1977 :D
Yeah, it was called 1977 😂
She went to from east to west Germany and could perform her own music for the first time ;)
The drugs in the west gave her the rest :D
She experimented with LSD in 1978
That was the year... hippies suddenly shifted into punk overnight, or from LSD to snorting coke. ;)
I met her once through her boyfriend noddy riot, she is VERY smart and beautiful
Most excellent. I had one of those nights party hopping with Danny Elfman and some DJs...
@@billnj2006 dude that's awesome! Love your profile pic, proves your story!
@@billnj2006 you one hell of a lucky bastard! Yes, a lot of fans of her say that she's an amazing person
That's NINA - in an short, clear and comprehensive presentation! Chapeau bas! Da capo! Chapeau bas!
Das Spektrum ist so breit, das ist fast nicht auszuhalten und da waren noch ein paar Peaks, die hier nicht drin waren. Danke für diese Zusammenstellung!
Please tell me there's an alternate timeline where she co-headlined with Klaus Nomi.
That would have been so amazing!
And with Klaus Nomi as well.
Oops, that should have been Lene Lovich.
She's like the German love child (mother?) of Frank Zappa, Mike Patton, and Bjork. Freaking amazing.
Casey Braunger you forgot Marlene Ditrich
And Kate Bush
Lol, Björk and Kate Bush didn't get inspiration from Nina. As much as I like all of them. Stop using drugs guys.
Björk is 10 years younger than Nina
Frank Zappa ist nochmal ne andere Liga...
She is amazing ! I just stumbled upon her on youtube and I'm just blown away
Herman's sweetheart from back then! Nice to see her in al these settings, all these faces etc! Very nice compilation!
Echt gut, sie ist so einfallsreich udn so schön unkonventionell im Denken, schon immer. Das finde ich schön. 😊 Ich kannte 99% der Lieder noch nicht.
Like a fine wine, she matures so god damn fine with age..
Pure perfected vocal artistry at its best ! Iconic to say the least ! A beautiful soul of humanity and selfless Love 💞 to people in need . She is the GODDESS OF PUNK !

"oh don't ask why-"
-'we need money'-
Destroyed 😂🤣😂😂😂🔥💥💢💯
She made no compromises, and her first 20 years were sensational. She now lost her voice, but few are as courageous as she was in the 70ies and 80ies. And as original.
Funfact!
Nina Hagen did the voice for yubaba from spirited away in Germany :) and it was a perfect fit
Oh didn't know that. Neat!
Everybody ages in 45 years. Nina Hagen: "Hold my beer".. (and any drug available)
Back in the 80s when I first turned on to Nina, I thought she was very advanced and absolutely unique. Seeing this vid, I'm only more convinced of it. She's an absolute artistic jewel !
Nina should have been on NCIS. She could have played Abby Sciuto's Grandmother. :D
Warbird Nut omg I’m mad about this thing that never happened now hahah
Ja, I think the same!!
Mother*
I Love Nina Hagen, since discovering her in '82 and this is an amazing compilation.
That said, I must say that starting half way through watching this my 2 cats have been tear assing around the apartment
Such a trailblazers for what person can do with a voice and image.seems she nether compromised or mellowed out .awsome
crazy. so much of everything, I see she is enjoying her life 1000%, great.
Ich liebe dich Nina 🇩🇪🇲🇽
The specter is so vide, and there's only one that sings like Nina Hagen from Deutschland‼️I saw you as a wonderful Jazz vocalist on UA-cam, a great singer‼️❤️ your music on the Punk scene in the late 70's, an intense vibe that I liked emmediently ‼️🎯💎🌹JazzyT.
Ich liebe Sie einfach! Diese Frau hat soviel Power und Begabung.... Und ihr ganze Art ist einfach hinreißend
She came to Rock in Rio I here in Brazil, in 1985. At a festival that had massive guests at the height of the Heavy Metal scene. Still, she made a great presentation and captivated the audience on the day of her concert, with 250 thousand people.
I remember seeing her on the old grey whistle test on the bbc about 1979 - 80, wow. Best female singer i've ever heard. Incredible range and power.
This lady is amazing my children brought me to her attention she's awesome in every way we love her
Amazing Nina. So her voice changed noticeably around 2010... Thank you, awesome video.
Reina! Ella sí es de las únicas. Lástima que su voz se fue desgastando... Nada es para siempre ʕ´• ᴥ•̥`ʔ
