Hey all, I got some free time to make a video or two for fun, so I thought of doing national overviews for nations that I like that don't have a lot of (recent) publicity I'm a bit rusty :P so sorry for the meh quality. About 24:47 mark the audio drops pretty significantly for the rest of the video, just mentioning so you can crank it up to hear better without worry of suddenly having your eardrums blown out later lol
For the island start, that's quite simple : as long as your capital is on one or two land provinces surrounded by sea provinces, the game considers it on an Island and gives you the orichalcum mine. Those 2 provinces island starts are the best you can hope for, since you benefit of the additional gold and resources linked to your cap, and inaccessible by anything not sailing or amphibious.
Very glad to see you pop up with a new video, thanks! I've always been Phaecia-curious but never played them in MP and don't see them much either. Other people's commentaries are pretty old and those I can remember had some fun ideas but not all that much I can imagine working in MP. Looking forward to your pretender ideas. Have played the related nation of Berytos which has similar troops decked out in cerise. I remember that game as a struggle from the start with not-great troops, mediocre sacreds and mages that have potential but need a lot of research to be effective. Apart from the geography which you highlight, seems that Phaecia would really want the weavers to be sacred to have blessable communions like Bandaresque nations or MA Pythium. Incidentally, sounds sometimes like your mic is maybe picking up fan noise at a few points.
I've never played Berytos but it does feel much weaker in the early game than Phaeacia does, as well as less mobile, but you get a whole range of Hinnom summons so that can be fun. Phaeacia is definitely really strong in communions We had some extra friendly lawnmowers outside when I recorded, I had to pause for a bit until they went away lol. I'm not one to make super high quality videos, sorry :P
