Chakka Halwa || Jack fruit Halwa || How to make Perfect Jackfruit Halwa at Home - Kerala Style || Jackfruit Preserve || Jackfruit Preserve
(Jackfruit is the Official Fruit of God’s Own Country, Kerala and is close to heart for all Keralaites. Jackfruit Halwa / Jackfruit Preserve / Chakka Varattiyathu is a Keralite sweet dish which is prepared in all households during the jackfruit season in Kerala. Here I share with you the recipe of Jackfruit Halwa in Kerala Style. Enjoy !!!! )
Ingredients
Jackfruit Pulp - 1 kg
Coconut Milk - 1 coconut
Roasted Rice Flour - 4 tbsp
Cardamom Powder - 1 tbsp
Pure Ghee - 4-5 tbsp
Jaggery - 500 gms
Method of preparation
Into an uruli, goes 1-2 tbsp of ghee. Once hot, add the jackfruit pulp. Keeping on medium flame, stir the pulp and ghee for 10 minutes. This process reduces the water content in the pulp. Once done, add the jaggery syrup. Make sure to select the black colored jaggery to get the desired black color for the halwa. Add 1 tbsp of ghee at this time. Start stirring continuously since this stage, or else the pulp may stick to the bottom of the uruli. Once the mixture is reduced considerably, add the rice flour diluted in a glass of water and stir again. You may adjust the level of the jaggery considering the sweetness of the jackfruit used. Add the ghee step by step to void the sticking of pulp to the bottom of the uruli. Keep on stirring continuously. Now add the coconut milk and stir again. Add ghee in betwwen stirring. Add the cardamom powder and stir again. You can add few cashew nuts fried in ghee at this stage. Now the halwa has reduced considerably. Keep on stirring continuously, until the halwa is reduced and is leaving the sides of the uruli and the ghee is separated.
Now grease a steel plate with the ghee and fill the halwa in and shape the top with few drops of ghee and decorate the top with fried cashew nuts. Now leave the halwa to cool for a minimum of 2 - 3 hours or until it is set. Cut the halwa into pieces of your choice.

Thanks for your recipe..I prepared in the same way ..as shown in ur channel...taste was good..but it was not that much thick enough to cut into pieces..
I think the ghee i added was a little higher than you have shown..Was it the reason that i couldn't cut them into proper pieces even after allow it to cool well??? or the rice flour that i added is not sufficent????
Kindly let me know..how to make the halwa thick enough to cut into pieces....
anupma..thanks for the feedback...thanks for trying our recipe too....either the final stage where you stopped the reduction of halwa...if the texture was not that thick enough to stop the flame... or if the texture of the jackfruit which u have used which might eed more rice flour for thickening...thse are the reasons am finding....the quantities mentioned in the video was perfect for the recipe i have shown...anu pls try adding 1 cup of rice flour instead of 4 tbsp if u r using the same jackfruit again....and make sure the halwa is cooled enough for min 2 hours before u cut it...revert if u have any doubts...thanks and regards

We tried at home. We are unable get d shape. It has become like paste. Taste is good. we followed all the instructions. Can you please tell us,what is our mistake.
Dear..few others also commented the same way.. I wonder it could be the texture of the jack fruit us used. If so u can add double the qty of rice flour and try and make sure the halwa is properly cooled for a minimum of 3-4 hours before it is cut. And also the final consistency of the halwa before the flame is off, it should be when the halwa detached from the pan as a whole...pls watch the video once more and follow the above tips also and try once more...thanks for the query dear...
Yesterday i tried the recepi. The taste was good. But it came out like a jam texture. I think its coz of the jaggery quantity.
