Nothing to add here, you are right in every way. But then of course I am also not able to estimate how much more time and money it would cost them additionally if the extra steps would be taken during the manufacturing process

21:30 Re: window sticker -- Toyotas on the west coast (like California, Oregon, Washington) don't have any issue. It's probably an issue with the window sticker that the port uses. The adhesive on our adhesive backings stick on and peal off cleanly with no residue.
Great video Larry! I worked as a polisher at both McLaren and Morgan in the factories, I completely agree with what you’re saying with the paint dropping and showing all the flatting marks and buffing trails. But the reason for that is that the freshly painted panels will get polished within an hour of the parts coming out of the booth to remove runs, nibs and other defects. The cars are usually assembled and road tested then anything spotted at the end of the line is usually sanded by hand and polished out with a small cordless rotary polisher with hardly and polish on it and some show shine on the lighter colours, then washed or show shined by the dealers after another PDI, only a few areas to improve but not far off

Touching on window stickers. Yes they are a pain to remove especially when they bake in the sun. It takes a bit of abrasion to get rid of the residue and that "halo". Honestly one thing that may sound crazy which I haven't tried is using some polishing liquid to remove the "halo". From what I've seen with first hand experience, it may be more about abrasion than chemical use for whatever is left after removing the sticky residue. Make sure whatever you're using is safe on glass before attempting this. Also don't forget to strip the polish off after with IPA. Now that I'm thinking more about 0000 steel wool may do the trick as well.
Have you tried using steam to remove the sticker glue? Maybe spray in a solvent or something and then hit it with steam? Lay towels down and what not on the dash etc. etc.
Most dealership detailers don't have a clue, aren't paid enough to care, or aren't allowed to spend too much time on one vehicle... They will more than likely make issues worse and compound through a lot of the clear.
Very few people seem to be answering your question, but I would say the moment you get into exotic brands, I expect excellent paint and once we're into multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars I expect perfect.
It might be it is the same specs interior and exterior and Damon said he got it from the U.S. if I remember correctly from his video explaining how he got it because it was a last minute thing that allowed him to purchase the vehicle. and to the other guy that said they wouldn't give a crap, at this point in the cars life Damon from DDE didn't even know he could purchase it because the car at this point is still owned by the dealership not a customer.
9 years ago I took delivery of my 981 GT4 , one thing I did was to remove all white paint protection at home (2015) , 9 years later the paint only needs a light polish to get it back to my level of perfection which is not too crazy perfect 😅
Larry, your knowledge is unmatched I love it. I've been detailing since before I could drive, which now is over 20 years. Unfortunately, at least in my opinion perfect paint is impossible, at least once it gets to you. I used to get vehicles delivered straight from the factory as we were a privately owned dealership for municipal vehicles. I would do the PDI, including checking the paint, there will always be issues unfortunately. I found out that delivery is the biggest cause of issues. This Lambo did look absolutely awful for the amount paid, a little bit more care clearly should have been taken but guessing for little blemishes they just won't fix it or repaint it which is a real shame. I've done body work as well so I know both sides.
Doesn't the car need to be run-in properly? Or is it pre run-in at the factory? I won't be happy if my car is being driven hard before i get it myself...
Lamborghini pre- breaks in their vehicles you will never get one with 0 miles. The recommendation is to drive how you normally will be operating the vehicle without being excessive near high RPMS

hey @ammo when you get the actual window sticker out, I find that spraying the adhesive with ISO or most glass cleaning products before scraping helps mitigate that adhesive halo after the gas out. I'm sure you've tried that, but just a though! Love the work
3m adhesive remover will remove that glue. But you can’t let any overspray land in the car it will mark all surfaces. It’s great stuff but you need to be very careful with it. I hope this helps Larry. Cheers

Fantastic work Larry. Shocking to see such a car arrive in this condition.. What are your thoughts on the iBrid cordless Rupes machines? I see you aren't using them. Not for you?
I would not want manufacturers to perfect the paint. If they did then detailers like yourself would limit their customer base and lets face it it is REALLY nice that you are known for getting so much better results as well as it is nice that you work on the new cars some times and not only disaster details
Hey Larry love your work ! In reference to your question about removing the documents from the glass would the dry ice cleaning technique work for this application or would it damage the glass and still leave a ghosting effect behind
Non adhesive vinyl . Jiffy lube has transitioned to using it for there mileage sticker reminder. It great because i have film on my windshield and it leaves no residue. Peels right off.
With the advancements in adhesives we've had over the past 2 decades you'd think there's a better options for dealer info being stuck to windows. Larry who did that work? Moe, Larry and Curly??!! GEEZ...oh and good work on the correction by the way! Enjoy your week..
As detailers we are fanatics for perfection we see the imperfection that the average person cannot see.
Man, if I spent 3/4 of a million dollars on a car and the paint looked like that I would be pissed.
The paint on the hood of my $35k Chevy Colorado had some runs in it that were only obvious looking at it under direct sunlight that the dealership was more than happy to send out to a body shop to correct.
Learned a lot and enjoyed your videos for years!
Would love an update video on your 964, that car is just perfect! Currantly building one of my absolute dream cars, a - 66 911 hotrod, can't wait to get to the paint🙂
Thank you for all the work you have done over the years!
How it should be Larry.
Ammo standards.
Such a beautiful video.
Thank you.
👍
This guy is the consummate professional automobile detailer...&, quite honestly, you're just not going to find anyone working at the dealership who is capable of producing his immaculate end result...so, just pony up for whatever he's charging, & then drive away with a smile on your face (just like this customer did) 😊
Some serious balls to start sanding a 700k vehicle 😁
this guy is a pro.
The car is $700k, but that paint work from the factory is a buck fifty at best.
As Detailer just can say. Larry is a King. Stunning work you are inspiration for me.✨
That “fantasy” song at 15:18 was 🔥🔥🔥
21:30 Re: window sticker -- Toyotas on the west coast (like California, Oregon, Washington) don't have any issue.
The cars are usually assembled and road tested then anything spotted at the end of the line is usually sanded by hand and polished out with a small cordless rotary polisher with hardly and polish on it and some show shine on the lighter colours, then washed or show shined by the dealers after another PDI, only a few areas to improve but not far off
The more I watch here in Brazil, the more I want to work with you there. Working with these machines, my friend!!!
Cheers!
I see a Larry detailing video I press "like" before I watch. Another amazing video. Thanks
I appreciate that!
@@AMMO-NYCand this is your sistine chapel
After you applied your exceptional skills this Lambo looks like a 700K supercar. If I ever win the Powerball lottery and can afford to buy a car like this I'm definitely gonna have it shipped right to you. 😎
For the window sticker I’d think a static cling pocket applied with the original Maroney sticker in it.
Love the paint on this car glad the owner cares enough to send it to larry great video
am i the only one who shouted through the screen: it's a frikin decepticon!? it looks like a frikin transformer holy moly.
this car is absolut perfection, i love everything from the paint to the engine noise. it's a masterpiece but from that kind of money i would like to get a decent paint job, it's not a normal car so i expect an excellent job to the last step of the paint. what a beast indeed
check out the one in matt black.
@kishlayverma6622 boi I just checked out... it looks like lockdown from age of extinction. It's even better O.O
@@der_kluger_gunther8391 lockdown was grigio titans if I am not wrong.
@kishlayverma6622 yep, you are correct. Even tho, black would have been better for the character ;)
This one reminds of tarn, the one from the comics (probably is the color scheme).
@@der_kluger_gunther8391 yeah, but if it had to be one transformer that transforms to this car, it'd had to be Megatron. This is the most aggressive looking car in the supercar industry imo, If Megatron was to be a car, it'd be this.
Watching your videos makes me appreciate my job more. I am also a detailer. I wet sand, cut polish and do ceramic coatings as well. I've been in the game for 24 years. I wanna get to your level, but everything is so expensive nowadays. Rent included. Keep up the sick work my friend.
It seems like the only company that took factory car paint seriously was the 18 mil paint on the 2nd gen Acura NSXs. They put out a magnificent paint job.
Larry i really love your work and love and passion you transfer via a polish machine..!! PLEASE find, a WAYYY cheaper new car and make the same video and compare the paintjob..
Whats the soundtrack at 27:00
Touching on window stickers.
As always amazing work and car
Thank you so much 👍
What a NERD! I love it.
Whenever im stressed and tired, I always watch your videos. Helps me relax.
It's ridiculous that much work needs to be done on a brand new car...especially for a 3/4 million dollar car...
Have you tried using steam to remove the sticker glue? Maybe spray in a solvent or something and then hit it with steam?
Lay towels down and what not on the dash etc. etc.
I would have insisted before purchase that the dealer fix all the paint defects.
And risk them making it worse? These cars need ppf anyways so color correction if part of the deal.
Most dealership detailers don't have a clue, aren't paid enough to care, or aren't allowed to spend too much time on one vehicle... They will more than likely make issues worse and compound through a lot of the clear.
Regardless, make the dealer fix it. I bet Larry's bill is $2,000 or more.
@@artlayton1425 add a 0 to that
Very few people seem to be answering your question, but I would say the moment you get into exotic brands, I expect excellent paint and once we're into multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars I expect perfect.
Is this Damon from DDEs revuelto
No those guys wouldn’t give a crap about doing an actual proper paint correction
@@thelaughingman5584 no it’s legit not Damon’s I live in Vancouver… and his revuelto had a leak and had full drive train replaced.
As always, your work is stunning
Doesn't the car need to be run-in properly? Or is it pre run-in at the factory?
I won't be happy if my car is being driven hard before i get it myself...
These cars are run in but require attention the first few 1000 miles. Larry hardly punched it. It just sounds impressive.
Lamborghini pre- breaks in their vehicles you will never get one with 0 miles. The recommendation is to drive how you normally will be operating the vehicle without being excessive near high RPMS
Me and my wife absolutely love your videos love how you explain everything what and how you do things my wife does all the detailing for us 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 144k miles with a ceramic coating she applied 2010 Jeep SRT8 44k miles to your? It absolutely should not matter what you have and how much you pay all manufacturers should be held to the highest standards for QC on what they send out the door keep up the great and awesome content
Not huge fan of purple generally but the mixes of purple to pink to blue is absolutely gorgeous.
Put some thinner on a rag and run it around the glued portion of the window sticker. The thinner will break down the glue and make it super easy to come off.
Throttle body cleaner works well too
Larry you are a very skilled perfectionist and I do not use those words lightly. When you were done that car and paint was Amazingly Beautiful. 👍👍👍
Thanks!
That hood is modeled, the base coat was not put down evenly. You can also see more of this in a lot of new silver and high metallic cars.
I can’t believe spending $700,000 and the paint is in this shape 🤷🏼♂️Thank god for you to correct and make it shine 💎
Love the attention to detail! Im not really a (car guy), but its awesome to watch the before and after of the videos. How many totals hours was the resoration and what can someone expect to shell out for the work?
Amazing work man. True inspiration for detailing.
As far as i know Koenigsegg is doing a really good job on the paint with multiple stages of correction after each layer of paint.
Correct
You did a green Ferrari awhile back and I had a similar complaint about the paint. Idk what the number is specifically, but 6 figures is a good baseline for what that car should look like when you get it.
I wish you had a beginners detail series. I’m really interested in learning how to take better care of my vehicles and a series of videos focusing on detailing techniques would be cool.
He released it a few years back. AMMO ATA 100 on YT
Go back to his early videos. He has everything you are looking for
hey @ammo when you get the actual window sticker out, I find that spraying the adhesive with ISO or most glass cleaning products before scraping helps mitigate that adhesive halo after the gas out. I'm sure you've tried that, but just a though! Love the work
it is so impressive the knowledge & know how you guys have to make an awesome looking vehicle look amazing !!! Very impressive
Appreciate the kind words, glad you enjoyed it!
3m adhesive remover will remove that glue. But you can’t let any overspray land in the car it will mark all surfaces. It’s great stuff but you need to be very careful with it. I hope this helps Larry. Cheers
Another great video! Every weekend I can’t wait to see what car you will do next. I love how every video is unique, keep up the good work 😃❤
Is that Damon fryer (daily driven exotics) car???
I don’t have an idea to attach window stickers… but to get them off… maybe try degreaser. That works perfect for me. Ps: 25:39 what am I seeing on the paint at the upper right corner of the badge?
Fantastic work Larry. Shocking to see such a car arrive in this condition.. What are your thoughts on the iBrid cordless Rupes machines? I see you aren't using them. Not for you?
is that the DDE Revuelto?
Larry, amazing work! Curious, what was the total bill for this car? I’m talking about all the pain. Correction, work, the PPF in the ceramic coating?
i think every new car should have beautiful paint. this thing turned out phenomenal
Beautiful Work, staggering that it actually left the Factory like that.
I would not want manufacturers to perfect the paint. If they did then detailers like yourself would limit their customer base and lets face it it is REALLY nice that you are known for getting so much better results as well as it is nice that you work on the new cars some times and not only disaster details
Love your video! Thanks for sharing this.
There is a linen visible under the rear engine compartment window.
Couple more small things.
Nice work.
I'm thinking intransits could have something like the adhesive on the back of your new credit card holding it to the paper they shipped it on.
Peels free super easy and leaves nothing behind
I find that a lot of (if not all) Asian cars have the 3blinks turn signals, my lancer is like this and if I’m at a light I can “lock it in place” and the signal will go on until the turn is completed
Heat gun on medium to low setting. Get the sticker very warm but gradually. You can even warm it up on the outside of the car as well as the inside.
I just had the exact same color and car at our shop, and they actually burned the edges in a couple of spots on ours. We also had the exact same problem on the hood, and same problem with the compound everywhere! Very sad the quality of delivery’s is decreasing on the newer cars.
Wow! 😳
masterclass 1ns more looking good mr nyc and to youre question i think each car has to have a very good job on paint they make lots of money on each ride so the least would be a nice paintjob
