Lots of wonderful pipes and lots of winds.hope you two are having a good time.thanks for sharing your video. Your friend Shirley your friend Shirley from new Bern north Carolina USA.❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮🎉🎉🎉😅😊
You& Nicole should carry an empty “Pringle’s” container in your bag... that way you won’t have to worry about a heavier object breaking the pipe stems you two come across;)
You two found a lot of pipes Wonderful history. Also other nice finds and the you fix there up . Good job.your friend from shirley from new Bern, north carolina u.s.a ❤❤🎉🎉😮🎉😅😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Simon you and Nicola are true mudlarkers to brave those extremely challenging conditions. That extremely low tide is when the true treasures are revealed. I always enjoyed metal detecting after a strong Noreaster in the states. Thanks for taking us along. Stay well mate. Al NJ. USA
raven 88 No you are not Raven! No screen of course. One for brown and one for green. ...I haven’t the nerve to see how much one would cost! As I’m sure even the shorter stemmed ones would be pricey! Have you dared to look at what one would cost?
That looked like so much fun!! The pipe finds were amazing and in a way curiously all from the same era rather that a mix up through the 19th century. Saving the bottom of the mallet bottle was a brilliant idea. It looks great cut like that Simon. Thanks for another adventure along the Thames.
That's absolutely incredible! A complete pipe is my dream find. Waiting for my permit...hope it arrives soon as I'll have a day in London on March 14th. And again March 25-28th.
Si and Nic standing in gale force winds & rain comparing who's pipe is longest... 😂. Pretty good haul 👍. The new pipe champion? I'll have to watch Nicola's video to see who found the most.
I’d love to find one whole pipe bowl let alone a finds pouch full! Well done to you both for braving the weather, it was certainly a corker of a storm.
WOW!!! All those pipes were unusually in great shape and the long stems on them were so cool because usually you may find if you’re lucky a 3 to 4 inch stem so I think you did so well and Nicola did amazing with her fines!! Thank goodness for storms!! Great video Si!!🌊🐬
I have to repeat what I said over on Nicola's channel...HOLY SMOKES! It looks like a pipe dream come true Si! Great way to think out of the box and get a jump on all the other larkers...that's why you and yours friends are the best.
You both wear wind blown well! Couldn’t help but giggle at the slow-mo wind blowin! I love watching you two together; I get all my bases covered when it comes to what I like to see! Thank you So much for the entertainment! You young sir are lovely! ❤️ and blessings for you and yours, A Dorothy In Kansas
2 lucky ducks to have a crazy wonderful hobby like that, how much I wish I could be in the mud with you two. Awesome video now I will watch Nicolas. :)
You two were having far too much fun in the mud! Fascinating to see how well those pipes had survived with less footfall over them. I tried to imagine all those people who must have owned them over two centuries ago. Mind-blowing. And absolutely loved your cut down bottle. So beautiful in its own right and doesn't necessarily need to be used for anything. Thanks for yet another episode of bringing history to life!
How fortunate were you with all the pipes you found. I was so excited with each new find and I wasn’t even there. I think if I had a place to find clay pipes that is all I would do everyday. There is something about them that speaks to me. Thank you so much for sharing your Mudlarking with such well done videos. I am now hooked on Mudlarking videos.
You are now officially The King of Pipes🤴 🎉 How fitting that The Queen of Pipes was with you 👸 Well done with the bottom of the bottle, beautiful!! Thank you for being crazy enough to go out in the weather and take the video camera 😉 As always, thank you for the wonderful video 😃
Si, being in the US and hearing you say you make shrapnel key rings as a reminder of ancestors who fought to keep your freedoms, brought a big smile to my face. It's nice to have a reminder of where we got our own sense of respect for our ancestors who fought for everyone's freedom; whether it was with you in the middle east and the great wars, or even against you while establishing our own country. It's nice to reflect back on things and remember how we all basically came from the same places (hope that wasn't offensive, it wasn't meant to be)!
weibie Katz Bot offensive at all. I like to think of my grandparent who either fought (Royal Tank Regiment and Royal Engineers) or helped by giving relief to the Polish when they had nothing. It’s true what Churchill said. Never was so much owed by so many to such few. We shall remember them!
@@Sifinds Have you ever watched the film "They Shall Not Grow Old" about Britain during the Great War 100 years ago? I adore all of the people who painstakingly restored and colorized all of this old footage, had a forensic lip reader translate what they were saying, and then speed corrected and added sound to it, and on top of that added in footage from 50 years ago of the veterans talking about their experiences. Such an amazing work I recommend everyone watch at least once in their life.
It was like a dream watch Nicola and now YOU finding all those pipes. I can image the delight in your heart when you find treasure... so your pipe was the biggest eh 😀 well done xxx
What an exciting day and great finds. Very brave of you and Nicola to go out in such awful weather. I often wonder if you get sick after these adventures.
I love pipes. Always tell Nicola how much I anticipate her finding pipes. You would have had to drag me off the shore with that many showing. Thank you!
Hi Si... I found you and Nic a few days ago and can't get enough of your two's videos. I'm here in Dubin, Ohio USA and find what you do and where you do it amazing!
OMG, Si 😲!!! Is this a "pipe dream" 😉!! So envious of you. And so incredibly kind to leave some of the bounty for others to share in 👏. Love, love the key, also. Way cool 😎👍. Thanks to you and Nicola for braving the stormy elements. FABULOUS vlog as always. 🙏's to both of you for safety and health. Now go home and have some warm soup to replenish and warm up 🤗😊.
I used to live in a tower block in Kilburn and I saw a pigeon fly backwards past my window during a storm, poor guys! Also that extra long pipe is awesome.
The pipe king! That looked like so much wonderful fun. The bottle was fantastic and you can put your vulcanite stopper on it. I would have taken the lock.
Wow! It's a pipe bonanza! The storms actually brought you good fortune in the long run. Keep o finding the best. I so enjoyed this and my 11 year old grandson could only keep saying "Wow! That's a lot of pipes. And another and another!"....LOL Cheers....can't wait to see more
Might I suggest a backpack for both you & Nic for some larger items. I can't fathom that carry a bag or fanny pack makes for convenience, especially when there are larger things, like the locks, etc. Watched Nic's vid yesterday. Can't even wrap my head around 280-yr-old pipes lying around just waiting to be picked up like so many seashells!! Crazy! Thx for taking us with you yet again!! Love you-2!
Wow! Some pipe haul! It will be interesting to see what else got churned up off the bottom in the next few weeks. Even with the wind and rain, you both looked like you were having a great time. 👍
I was beside myself with jealousy at Nicola’s pipe finds but now seeing yours I’m feeling ill with envy. We just don’t going them here . We got half of one bowl a few weeks ago and get lots of tiny stems . Your so lucky well done
Absolutely blown away by the staggering number of pipes you found Si; congratulations! Gorgeous bottle you found, so pretty and a great job on the coin holder, what a save! What a great website idea too, looking forward to checking that out and maybe contributing myself one day!
I think it just has to do with the method of manufacture. Bottles today are made on fully automatic machinery. Back then you had a crews of humans making them, a blower who'd remove the gob from the tank with his punt and blow, a mould operator, and a lipping man who held the hot bottle with a snap case to apply the lip!!! Except that mallet bottle was free blown! 😊
haha very good with the storm-crackled reception at the beginning on the news report - looked like a real pipe-finding derby on the Thames. hilarious Nic doing a wind-blown sailor at 15:00 . i laughed again at the pair of you !
My wife and I enjoy watching your videos from the California desert and would like to make a suggestion. All those old plain bottles you leave behind could be stenciled with si-finds and or mud lovers maybe even add a broken pipe. Just a thought from two fans from across the pond
Thanks for braving the storm the both of you! Hands down the most pipes from the 1700's I've ever seen at once. So interesting that they all come from the earlier period being out just a bit further than everyone is usually able to reach.
I have just popped over from Nicola's Channel it was great it made me feel windswept and refreshed. Looks like your pipe tally beat her. that was crazy finding all those pipes but wonderful. I like clay pipes, thanks Simon. 🧓🏻
That is mental!! I don't think we have ever found one 18th-century pipe and here you two are with 30+ 😂 We were wondering why they are all 1700's pipes that were exposed by the storm and not other centuries? Alex & Gail x
Northern Mudlarks Hi ladies. I’m not sure either. Maybe there was a ship docked there and the crew were smoking their wages away and lobbing them overboard when they got clogged up or were given replacements. That, or a building perhaps, maybe a tobacconist or coffee house was nearby and you all the rubbish was tipped out of the window? We do find Victorian pipes in the area too, but as you saw - mostly 1750s. Wishing you both Luck in the Muck!
What a great day along the Thames Si Finds! I know people will go out along the eastern seaboard after storms looking for washed up pieces of ship wrecks. I tried myself once after a hurricane but no luck Inna sand. All those pipes and long stems to boot! I do believe you've become the Pipe King of the Thames. Thanks Kindly for sharing your Luck Inna Muck for we arm chair Mud Lovers here in Pa! Lots More Luck and Loving of Mud! DaveyJO

Hello again Si and Nicola! The storm must have brought the silt down to the 'epoch of the pipe" :) Be safe over there! Lots of flooding expected here in the Midwestern US again this year. The pipe just sitting there was simply unreal! WOW. Hah hah you 2 sure are the duo. Fun!
Aw c’mon sell at least one pipe!!! I bought a clay pipe from a “man” in England. He pulled the bait and switch. He sent me another pipe, when I called him out, he said it was a mistake. So I sent it back to him (at my cost, again). He kept my pipe, blocked me, and resold it. Of course I reported him and EBay did nothing. Goodbye $100 including shipping. 😭😭😭
WOW now that's some larking ! I do the same thing when I look for my treasures always have ! It's amazing what shows up during and after storm's....getting good and filthy makes it even better MUCH LUCK IN THE MUCK XXXX

I've never seen so many clay pipes found in one hunt, and so many complete with long stems! Worth battling a storm's howling winds.

Me too! It’s amazing how thick and heavy even the mineral water bottles are!

james davenport Good idea mate. How would I stencil them? With an etcher or something?
You could apply a paint,sandblast,acid etch,etc.
Si-finds Thames Mudlark maybe add a broken clay pipe under stenciled logo
Also look up heat embossing
