Brill, thank you for sharing. Very industrious. Stay safe.
I love how those of us playing at home are always "coin! Coin right over there! Up! right! COIN!" Like a dog seeing a sandwich wrapper in the grass.
Constance Miller haha, I can imagine that! 😂
It's like an easter egg hunt, discovering one is so much fun and you immediately wanna run and tell everyone :)
A dog seeing a sandwich wrapper in the grass haha, brilliant, sounds like my dogs!
All. The. Time. Also, Mudlark: "Look at this thing I just found." Me: "But what's the other thing over there? No, go back!"
Your little face looks very similar to faces I've seen done in the far northern reaches of Canada. The indigenous peoples (Inuit) work then in soapstone.
The "porthole" could be a gibault - used for fixing leaks in water mains. Find the leak. Turn off the mains. Sharpen a stick and tap it into to hole and cut it flush. Cut a patch of inner tube and put over the stick. Clamp the gibault on top to stop the stick flying out, ha ha
I whooped with excitement , when I saw this upload. Sunday afternoon, Si finds, cheese straws. Happy flippin days
loveday bebe haha! Gotta love cheese!
These vids are one of my Sunday afternoon treats too! 😀
Can’t wait to see you all back on the shores
Great video, full of interest. It's surprising how quickly people seem to have forgotten how to pronounce "ha'penny"!
Now that's a true friend! "slip please slip" LOL
Lisa Roach 😂
14:02 when you picked up the bullet i'm sure there was a garnetright next to it,
17:59 the padlock, was that a coin there at the bottom ??
Simon a tip with the elastic, coat the end in some pva glue to stop it fraying.
Nothing strange about the face. It’s obviously a sculpture of Pete Townshend. They got the smile wrong though.
Matt Kustom Kostumes 😁
Haha. Spot on!
Maybe John Lennon carved it back in the 1960s and chucked it in the river lol.
weibie Katz, totally plausible.
OMG you're right!!! Don't know how I missed it!!!
If it's Sunday, I know it's Si-day! Love the chalk face, and from the number of coins you and Matt found I thought you stumbled on a mud branch of the Bank of London! The river looked particularly clear that day, I enjoyed the stroll in the shallows.
Linda Odell Haha thanks Linda!
As always a good video, from the foreshore! Cool bracelets, ingenious way of using the broken bits to make something special 💙
Stay safe, love from Denmark 🌸💕
Zandain thank you ❤️❤️❤️
I just watched your video on Deadmans Island and was impressed by your humanity and respect you paid those that died .Thankyou for educating us .
Love your clay pipe bracelets, little tip, leave the ends after knotting a little bit longer and thread through the heads either side, the ends won't stick out then. 😁 You could paint them too if you get really bored 🤣
Jane Fincaarte Yes I did that on my other bracelets - I obviously forgot this time. Haha
Love the block candle holder with all the found metal bits. Great way to repurpose! That would lovely in my she shed with all my vintage tools.
Thanks again for a great video. I'm deffo gonna get me one of those pipe stem bracelets. I could use a decent torch for the ghost hunting too! 😊
“Mine’s bigger than yours!” Gotta love the innuendo there. 😂 Loved the clay pipe bracelet. Can’t wait to see this bus stop discovery next week.
Lexie Ashmore 👍🏻
I so love going back and watching all your videos I've missed before I found you ! Such interesting things you can find on the Thames ! Much love from Louisiana !
1966 is the year I was born. Love watching your adventures.
9:50 - a coin by a hinge (traffic cone).
Mega coin bonanza! It’s strange how one day some things are prevalent and other days is something else! That’s what makes it exciting!😊
Sell the beads in packets so some of us can do our own crafting!
I would love that. Or even just a bracelet but I haven't seen one on his Etsy yet. 😔
I dont know what it is, but i like it!
Hey Si! I think that ‘bracelet’ @2:17 is actually a large hoop earring... note the thin section...
It looks like you are finding all the coins that Nicola is leaving for others.
The stone face is Keith Richards's baby photo.
Susie Que 😂
😊😊😊
Simon, I love when you 🧐 find the tiny things, very impressive 💋 stay safe!
B B 🤜🏼🤛🏼🐾🧡
spending a half hour with Simon is a very nice escape from you-know-what ... thanks for keeping us distracted, entertained and educated, Si!!
Marcel Audubon my pleasure M!
I have an OLight rechargeable tactical light and it's bloody brilliant , knocks the spots of a Lenser..but then again it's 3 times the price..even so...a proper weapon
Whoa, Mr Chalk face....is so cute. Thanks for sharing!
Great to see the jewellery making demo Si! Earrings next? Was thinking a mini wind chime design...
SI....just wanted to tell when I make bracelets I always add a drop of super glue to the tie just for piece of mind. Ty for all u do and who you are.
I was really impressed with the little face. Superb video guys.
Always fun to watch. Thank you.
I was so happy to see your post
I think the clay thingy at 9:31 looks like a pipe bowl tamper. Great video, as always.
It's Nice to have Buddie's with you Simon Cause they Cheering you on to slip while on video!!!; )
Richard Warnock Lol that’s what mate’s are for!
Awesome video, thank you for sharing and keeping me sane 👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️
Chris Thompson my pleasure Chris 🤘🏻
The face was so cool, I love the old Victoria half penny, all of the coins were cool , love the bracelets Thank you again Simon stay safe and healthy and keep the videos coming cause that is what keeps my sanity during this lock down 🇨🇦😷❤️
Catherine Moore cheers Cath. I will do 🤜🏼🤛🏼🐾🧡
Thanks for the video Si and stay safe.
john coleman Cheers John! Will do mate
May4th be with you ! Great Lark as usual. 🌟
That little chalky face would be a great little surprise in a garden!
I am a wind chime nut. Wondering how one made of pipe stems would sound. Great vid as always.
I don’t know if you will see this a year later but I bought a bunch online from a mudlarker through Etsy. They have this lovely tinkling sound when they hit each other. I think they would be great for wind chimes. ❤️
So much fun watching you two mudlarks! I was so caught up, I was hollering that you missed a clay pipe at 6:59, lol.
shetania That’s no clay pipe, 😉 it’s a metal pipe off cut😊
Just ordered the bracelet Si! Can't wait to get it!♡♡♡Loved the chalk face, that was really cool....wondering how old....by the face style, I would say it's old! I have a carved rock similar that's native American and quite old!
I adore the rock with the face!
Really enjoyed that mud lover! 😃
Rachel K 🤜🏼🤛🏼🐾🧡
What an imaginative way to use broken pip stems .👍
The face kinda looks like a piece of chalk. It’s super easy to carve and is often sold in small beginners carving kits. They use alabaster too. I’ve got a few of those I bought at an art show a few years ago. It’s really easy to carve. My guess is someone tried their hand at it and weren’t thrilled with what they made so they tossed it out.
oh that's just lovely its something you can't date but look at it and just smile wtg
Tess Gilmore exactly!
🇬🇧 The chalk head somehow looks Scandinavian.
Wouldn't you like to see everything ever found in the Thames laid out together. The volume is staggering.
Gathering No Moss that would be awesome!
Your cash box is a BT cash box from the phone boxes. Tons of them were stolen and left in rivers and canels by Thieves.
Great video
👍😁
I was born in '63. That piece of cup looks like part of the cup from the one Nicola found on her last video.
You can buy clear elastic. It doesn’t fray like the lame’ that you’re using now x
I am amazed at how much coins you find there. That little stone face sculpture is neat. What great finds there.
Sally A. Cheers Sally 👍🏻
Thanks Si, you keep me smiling😀☮️🇨🇦
Lovely Skull my pleasure 😊
Ha-Ha! 21:03 "Please...please slip. Please slip...please fall in". That is great! I have 3 older brothers; this reminds me of their shenanigans with each other. LOL
Your just a great man Si thanx so much for the videos l hope your family and the chicks and kitty's are keeping well best wishes fro Toronto Canada
Tarn Coleman Aw thanks. You stay safe too!
Great treasure hunt boys, thank you for sharing.
Padraic O'Domhnall Cheers Paddy!
Ha ! I thought that tin was a zippo lighter ...till you put your hand out 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
You made my day, a video from Si👍👍👍👍
debcarnes100 thanks Deb! Every Sunday!
The hook you found at 16:25 could also be part of a lug pole chain hook hook. I love the pipe stem bracelets. Hopefully all the world pandemic will pass into history soon and we can all get on with life safely. Not sure about everyone else, but I could sure use something resembling normal right about now.
That stone reminded me of one of Nicola's items. When you finish your bracelet, instead of cutting the elastic short and having bits sticking up, leave the ends long and thread them back through the pipe pieces to hide them. Much neater.
PompeyChris71 - or add a small piece of pipe stem to each and make them pretty!
That ‘porthole’ was a pipe clamp, used for clamping the ends of large pipes together to form a longer pipe.
Slashley gibbins Nice one!
I’m new to your channel, but am addicted already 👍 I spend a lot of time below the high water mark in my local estuary, and will definitely be looking for bottles etc from now on. Thanks very much, and keep up the great work 👍👍👍
Always enjoy your videos Si. I find that I especially like your clean up & up cycle segments at the end of the last few of your recent uploads. Keep up the good work sir! Stay healthy, stay happy, stay safe. Be well!
tterbay Thanks. I’ll try and do more of them 👍🏻
Lovely chalk-face.!!!
The closest thing I could find is something called a Kulap. It's a marker or funerary item from the Melanesia New Ireland Namatanai area, You should take it to a Museum.
I agree. I think the face was carved by a bored seaman. My grandmother made a clay face in the 50's that looks very similar. I love the Si and Matt videos. I was laughing so hard as Matt was saying "fall in" as you were reaching for the London bus sign. Thank you for brightening my Sunday.
Kelly Novak hah, thanks Kelly! He is pure evil 😂
I like the pipe stem bracelet. I was thinking if you knotted the elastic thread between each bead, like strings of pearls, that extra bit of shine would snazzy it up a bit. Maybe even mist the beads with a fine layer of luminescent spray to give them a subtle hint of pearls. You are so imaginative, I'd love to see your version of that idea. Very cool I'm sure. Coins? Are you going to rate the oldest date, rarest coin, nicest condition and or most amount of coins? Looking forward.
Great video Si, there were coins galore. Thanks for sharing with us.
Debbie Bonner Cheers Debbie!! Wait for next week and you will see how many!
Enjoyed the video , as always . Thanks for sharing , and stay muddy !
gritty kitty thanks 😊
Great video! You bring me a little joy every Sunday!! Cool bracelets!! Thanks for sharing your finds!! Stay safe!! 😷❤
Debs McLaughlin Aw thanks Debs
How does one decide which part of the Thames to search and when are the best times? I know a permit has to be obtained. I'm in the USA and am just curious. Thanks.
I love watching your scanning of the foreshore and collecting ... the hardest thing is wanting to look at and collect things you don't pick up ...here is New Zealand the foreshores and rivers etc are naked of treasures to collect
Anne Michelle Johal thanks. But your in the most naturally beautiful place in the world. I think I’d take that! 😉👍🏻 🇳🇿
Scu, thanks for your videos. They make being isolated much easier. And just wanted to let you know, if you dip the end of the elastic in a glue, the ends won't fray when you're stringing beads. Thanks for your videos!
Mary Roraff Thanks Mary!
A good dose of healthy competition 👍😁👍🎉👍😎👍
What an amazing spot to mudlark! So much fun!
Chris Ellis 👍🏻
The Thames First National Si Finds Bank! You may be needing a strong box on wheels or else your pants may fall to your ankles Si Finds! All those coins! What a fun video as usual! Never tire of your Luck inna Muck. Now I want to know who excelled in the coin dept. Thank You Kindly Simon, Always a Pleasure! Love, Light, Peace, Joy, Good Mud (hopefully soon) and Abundance! DaveyJO in Pa.
Daveyjo Weaver cheers Dave, all will be revealed next week!
Some Thames rubies would be nice in your pipe bracelets, what a clever boy you are. 🇨🇦😉🐘
Marion Bowler Thanks Marion. Good idea!
Marion Bowler or pearls..
Marion I was thinking the same, the garnets would be lovely in the bracelets..
9:42 dont forget the p08 field gear belt end keeper!!!
18:45 thats a shell in his hands. hes ready to load a field gun.
That porthole thing was a pipe clamp used on sprinkler pipes to join them together as they fit in grooves in the ends of thepipes
Michael Johnson ah cool
The water seemed clearer than the usual muddy color. Some great finds. Looking forward to the rest 👍!
Wreckdiver59 Thanks. Yes it was a bit, just in that specific area
I couldn't quite get a clear look at it, but I think that 500 coin is a Japanese 500 Yen :)
Si and Matt! Awesome hunt! Thank you for your editing and research Si. It amazes me every time when I see the floor of the Thames. SO MUCH STUFF! Thanks again! Kelly/Indiana
Bratton and McClain Thank you 👍🏻
Neat little bracelet❤❤❤
You definitely one of my favorite mudlarkers!! You find the coolest stuff and I love your accent. Thanks for sharing and stay safe 😷😷😷
Kim Page cheers Kim!
Si I just want to say that I love you and Nicola to be the best out there
Fun love the bracelet great upcycle 👍👍😺
That bracelet looks like a loop earing actually
Hi the black box was from an old telephone box. Money was collected and the phone company would collect and put empty one in and empty full ones back at the vault.
Andy outten ah cool. Thanks
Love the bottle at the beginning and the and anchor that sat in the water
Linda Gomez Thanks Linda!
Great bracelet idea!!
The scars on the stoneware jar are where two pots touched each other in the kiln and fused together but were broken apart and ground down smooth, sometimes called kissing. Cheap mass produced containers were really packed in tight .
tim bartell id you look closely there is a pouring spout, hence the handle
Love the bracelets. A good tip is Make 7” for ladies and 8” for men. 9” for anklets
Joanne Patterson Thank you!
the black box is a cash box from a BT payphone once the little rascals rob them they dispose of the box,s usually in canals
Nice to wake up to a Si video. Blessings
Jeriann Roberts 👍🏻
You should've taken that box, cleaned it up, and turned it into a geocache!
When I was at teacher training college in the 1960s, in Brighton, as part of the "art" section of the course we were sent to the neighbouring beach to find a free piece of art material, a lump of sea washed chalk, that we were supposed to carve into something interesting. I wasn't that good, but I've still got the polar bear; but I remember some of my more artistic fellow students producing masks, figures etc. Perhaps that lovely face could have come from a similar class?
Good shout 👍🏻
I love your videos Si I’d love to do the same on the fore shore of our local river The Forth in Fife. Under the Forth Rail Bridge, unfortunately due to ill health I’m not able but it would be a great adventure. I’ll just have to watch your videos instead. Take care with this virus situation! Love from Scotland. ❤️🏴
Alison Wallace Thanks Alison, if you think there’s a good chance of finding some stuff I’ll take the trip up there myself! (When all this is over!)
Alison Wallace I’m sure there would be some goodies along that foreshore, I’m just over the bridge in Edinburgh 👋
