HA those blue stones were at the bottom of the aquarium filled with invasive crayfish that some jerk tossed into the brook
I think Terry is right we used to buy dyed stone for our fish tanks. So much good fun watching you guys getting excited. Thanks
Your excitement makes me happy. Love to hear you laugh and find treasures.
Thanks Maria!
So laughing at you guys picking out the fish tank gravel hahaha. Probably where the Crayfish came from too.
At :5.0 when the crayfish was on its back I was waiting for John Hurt to burst out its chest
We had freshwater crayfish in a tank once ( We call them Yabbies here in Australia) and when they shed their skin/exoskeleton they actually ate it!! So that poor fellow you guys found might have been 'recycling' his old skin.
Terry has a real romanov look about him too 👍 reminds me of the csar Nicholas
Leave it to you two to find the ONE SPOT on that whole creek where someone dumped their old fish tank gravel! You, sirs, are treasure magnets!! ;)
(Love from Indy!)
Haha thanks Lisa!
That poor crayfish! You did mess it around a bit. I wouldn't go back there too soon in case it recognises you. It only had one claw but it was pretty big. It might sneak up behind you.
What! No Goldfish!!! Blue dyed marble chip's lol....🤣😂🤣😂😊😂🤣😂 Happy Day's
Keep on like that, stones that interest a couple of mature children are priceless anyway. You're great!
I appreciate that!
The blue stone is probably fish tank gravel
But where does fish tank gravel come from? and don't say the pet shop 😂
This is what I came here to say that’s definitely manufactured fish tank gravel!
I came here to say that too
Si-finds Thames Mudlark Someone was moving house, and didn’t have room for their poor ol’ goldfish, “Nemo”, so they decided to liberate him in the river, and just emptied the whole tank there. He lived happily ever after. The End.
Si-finds Thames Mudlark some people dump their pet gold fish gravel snd all in the rivers and streams thinking they are doing the right thing 😢
What a lovely chap Terry is. I like to hear a proper Londoner using some rhyming slang " he's brown bread" - dead. I'm from Yorkshire and I love to hear other dialects.
Cheers Jan
I thought that was rhyming slang as soon as I heard it. Wasn't sure, but still, pretty impressive for a colonist, I think. :)
I'm from Yorkshire too,and I say brown bread😂,my Grandad is originally from London so his sayings were passed down to us!
Si keep up the great work !!! Love watching you on your adventures !! It is on my "bucket" list to cross over the pond one day to try my luck in the muck !!!! From Stockbridge Michigan USA
Hey Mary. Keep on believing!
It was so funny to see that Terry's profile matched King George on the coin. 😋
😂
Mary Beth I nodded in agreement upon the compare! Especially the last pose. 🙌🏼
That fancy round thing that almost looked like a cupcake holder you found is part of a handheld washing agitator used in a washtub to agitate clothes, kind of in a butter churning type motion. It was on a wooden stick and the outside was shaped like an upside down funnel. I found one in a thrift store today and the underside of it had that piece right in the middle.
Was it that small?
It’s awful to say but I think somebody might have dumped their aquarium in the river with tank stones too 😉😆 you’re right Terry!
A very nice video, thank you Simon and Terry!
Our pleasure!
Yep, that crayfish looked like something from "Alien" . "Poor little sausage"...hahaa
My son and I kept crayfish for many years in tanks. They shed their shell and then eat it. Pretty cool to watch. They are a pretty cool pet to watch. We fed them turtle food.
Woahhh that crayfish really does look like something from Alien or Predator! Also like a scorpion... :/
Enjoyed the river walk. So fun to watch you two together. I would have gotten excited over the blue stones too. Sometimes it is the simpler things that bring the most pleasure. I really like you printer’s drawer. Great way to display your finds.
Cheers Diann. The colours really popped
"This little guy's brown bread." - love the rhyming slang. Cool video Si & Terry.
Thanks Peter
Crawdads for dinner yummy yummy delicious so awesome I love watching your videos wish there was a place here to go mudlarking I be there everyday you guys have so much fun it's in your blood to go on adventures like it's mine too have an awesome fun adventure I love going along with you
Cheers Teri! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Walking backwards for Christmas? You've got to be of a certain age to get that reference 🤣🤣 ying ton iddle ti do
Yeah I didn't get that...
@@Sifinds coments made in the late 50,s to 60 radio show the goon show peter sellers spike milligan harry secombe eccles famous for saying he fell in da water :-)
This is in reference to the goon show bbc radio show of the 50s the performers recorded the “Ying ton song” google or UA-cam it?
I too have a printers tray like yours, just need to fill it with finds now. Getting my licence when lockdown is over! I'd enter but I've already got one of Wendy's pipe necklaces lol.
You have great taste
Where do we find Windys store?? Does she just go by Windy??
Shucks... I’m not on Twitter. The blue stones are lovely, but I’m pretty sure they are from an aquarium. Another fun watch: thanks Si and Terry.
Thanks Marion. You could persuade a friend to enter for you...
This blue stone you both found could really be turquoise...after the light blue colour...good luck..👍👍👍
got a bit seasick again today...you young people are so quick in your moves with the camera! I like orange too....and the coin was a good one. See ya!
Whatever they are, I love the blue stones! They would be awesome displayed in a wee glass bottle or jar, or a pendant shaped like one of those. "Upcycle" the basic, lol.
cheers
In the south here in the US,we call them crawdads ✌️😎
ah cool
@@Sifinds ...or mud bugs. =)
And yes we do eat them! It’s a little bit like shrimp or a freshwater lobster . Takes quite a few of them to make a meal
@@merrycatsrus3383 yep. delicious little critters.
or they are called Crawfish
You're brave putting your hands in the river with those little alien crayfish around! I'm glad he swam backwards to live another day.
Haha
its illegal to put them back they are killing off our smaller native grey ones
That was so funny. Ooo look? O dang fish tank gravel! Lol still great video
Probably a copper mineral called chrysocolla. Its usually found next to quartz which can in many cases cover it with micro sized crystals called druzy quartz, which would explain the sparkles you see.
That was a different adventure, but very enjoyable, none the less. I was cracking up when you showed Terry’s profile was a match to King George! Some neat finds today Si! I’m already looking forward to next week’s adventure. Sorry, but I don’t do Twitter. Good luck to those entering the competition. Those are some nice prizes up for grabs!
You getting pretty fancy playing around with royalty even getting him to garden for you. Oooooooo. Y'all are so fun!
Haha, yes I'm in good company!
His profile was remarkably similar, wasn’t it?
Haha Terry with his clippers! That's really practical but he looks really sweet in his Wellingtons 🤣❤️
Haha
You guys got sidetracked by those little blue stones. But what a fun adventure! Marie in CALIFORNIA
Thanks Stan
Blue stones, gravel out of my old tropical fish tank. LOL !!!!.
Hi si .thanks for posting another entertaining clip.
All the comments mention aquarium stones but when you were digging them up I'm sure I heard the faint sound of singing in the background, it sounded like . . .tra la ..la..la ..la la.
Yes that's right I think its smurfs poo.
Make sure to wash your hands . 😁🤣
😂
Love the meat paste jar. Lovely!!
I keep thinking, “ why is Si poking the river with a carrot?”
Funnily enough - that's it's nick-name - the garrett carrot!
I was waiting for you to find a "freaking grenade!" Haha.
It's funny that Terry said the blue stones look like aquarium rock. I was thinking the same thing before he said it. lol
I love that printers tray display -what a brilliant idea!!!!! I seriously need to one of those!!!!!!
Thanks Marina, yes they are cheap enough too!
Blue stones looks like fish tank or pond gravel.
Nice adventure on the river.
Best Finds...The Bottles 👍😎👍
Those blue stones look like aquarium stones
Wel mudlover beautiful mudlarking enjoyed it hope u well take care mudlover excellent 👍💙
I love the little pipe necklaces!
So special aren't they!
Awesome Si, can't wait to see what you do with the blue stones. Excellent as always.🇨🇦🐘🤗
Cheers pal!
Crawdads and Creek water... The title I'll admit made me go. "This dingus never seen a Crawdad before?" XD
Not everyone has mate
@@Sifinds Hey. At least it wasn't clickbait! Mad props for that one.
My thought was the "strange discovery item" were the blue stones...
What a super fun adventure Si Finds and Terry! How I wish I was along! Now Om inspired to walk into my back yard, which is woods and walk the creek. I do this from time to time but never found too much exciting things besides fishing stuff. It is a trout stream. I'm always on the lookout for Native artifacts and did find a flat stone with a worked notch that would have been use for a fishing weight. The blue stones? They look like pieces of chrysocolla which is a blue/green stone. I have some blue pieces that look like what you found. Also there is a howlite stone that is often mistaken for turquoise and even marketed as turquoise by not so honorable dealers. I don't know if either exists in the UK or not. I'll have to look it up in one of my books. And the type setters box with your Si Finds looks great. Many Thanks to You and Terry for a Fine Sunday adventure that I enjoyed from my easy chair. Very hot today but I think I'll head to the creek. It's always 10 degrees cooler there anyway, a spring fed creek that will cool you off very well. Blessings, Luck Inna Muck, Love of the Mud that ends in the Pub. Please have a good pint for me! DaveyJO. In Pa.
Cheers Davey. Good luck in the creek! Sounds ideal
Howlites' natural color is white . Is died every color under the sun but has dark lines through it .
Patricia G Love Thank You Patrica! I didn't know about dying the stone! Of course they dye geodes as well. Love and Peace and Joy! DaveyJO
What a couple of Looney Toons... loved your little blue fish tank rocks. 😂
Crays shed their shell as they grow. Often they eat the old casting to recover the calcium. Here in Australia they get over a foot long.
Thanks for another interesting video, Si!
Thanks mate. 👍🏻
Crawdaddy's on a plate ewww!!!, fresh catch of the day Madness!!!: o
*crayfish
Both crustaceans are Signal crayfish which are classed as an invasive species and are reaching plague proportions in the UK, they carry a disease that is fatal to our native white clawed Crayfish which are becoming an endangered species.
I believe it’s even illegal to return them to the water once found. Not that I’d imagine it’s policed very rigorously...
I'd guess aquarium gravel for the blue stones. Folks liberating their fishies in the creek.
I remember when shops used price labels like that in the early 60s. Often used when selling fruit & veg. Thankyou for sharing your search & finds.
Old boy has the eyes of a hawk, proof mudlarking is good for you. He has the dexterity of that crayfish though, pls help him down those slopes Si. Hate the thought of him busting a hip out there.
Terry ay? What a Gem.
Thanks for taking us into Britains hidden beauty.
Really enjoy stream lark videos. Those crayfish cant hurt you , pick em up by the carapace on top, just behind where the claws start. Their nip is piddly.
Pls bless us with more cockney lad. More.
Great vid. Great channel.
Thanks Molly!
I don't think he is that old lol. Looks like late 50's early 60's.
The 4d per lb sign was likely a butchers sign used with a spike at the back of a tray of meat
That crayfish just got done shading his shell.
Great fun Si, thanks for taking us along.
I love your channel. So very interesting. I love seeing your creations too. Background Music is perfect. Thanks Si!
Thank you so much!
That penny is spectacular condition… love watching your videos in the muck
The blue coloured stones are decorative fish tank gravel, you can buy it in all sorts of colours, pink, red, blue, green or mixed with white or natural :)
Good find on that coin. Those blue stones looks like the ones you find in a fish tank. Lol. I love your wall display of your finds.
Thanks Sal
🌄☕ Morning to you Mr. Simon and Mr. Terry from the West Coast of the USA👋. WHOA😳😲!! Those are some big crayfish!! 🤗 Thanks for letting the one(armed...clawed?) crayfish go back about it's business 👍. Might just survive🤷. Live and let live😉.
Love your shadow box for your "larking" finds👍😁. Is it a Si-finds original craft creation? Maybe you gents can shoot a picture of the brick to Richard Hemery 🤔. He's quite good at identifying bricks and pottery 👍.
🕉️✌️to you and your family and friends. Stay safe and healthy, gentlemen.😎🤗🤭😘
In western Kentucky (USA) you can always tell when you were getting near an old iron furnace by the bright blue stones (slag)
I've got a few from LBL
@@fishinwidow35 I had a place just east of LBL, town called Kuttawa just west of Eddyville. There was an old furnace there with a historical marker by the road. My brother and I have explored that one a few times, with metal detectors. Never did find anything though.
@@samueljames9342 I know where that is. I lived in Cerulean for several years. We went all over looking for fishing holes and saw all sorts of things.
Hi from the United states Nebraska here! Hope you are staying well. That was a fun one!
2 weeks of dry hot weather..... try living in Australia hahahahahaha... I am actually so jealous of you guys... would love to be able to do what you're doing.
Maybe one day!
That was a big old craw daddy at least that’s what we call em lol 😝!
Someone has emptied their fishtank in the river. That's ok though, Simon has prospected 'Blue' hahaha! There be blue in them thar hills hahahaha!
Well done on the bottles matey!!!!!!!!
Thanks matey!
That looked like loads of fun, but get a grip you two, getting all excited over some aquarium gravel, available for about a fiver a kilo! 😀 I remember those shield shaped signs well from a few years back. They were commonly used by greengrocers. Well, there be some weird and wonderful stuff in an English country stream, right down to some murderous foreign crayfish. Very entertaining both of you. Thank you! 😃
Só the secret to thrilling si is throwing colored rock into a river! So easy
Hello from NC, USA. The blue stones look like Aquarium gravel.
Love your printers box. I have one also I keep rocks in mine.
Cool!
@@Sifinds Back when I used to sew, I kept spools of thread in mine, along w/other objects of interest. Perfect use of yours, Si.
We use to like to catch the crayfish when we were kids. The ones you two found are huge!!! Really cool finds and your tray with your finds are awesome!!!!
Thanks Karen 🐾🧡
I see everyone has told you what they call the crayfish in their area, but there is one more name I've heard them called. Bait! Oh! That WTF object i'm pretty sure was the Fairy Kings crown! I enjoyed the video
In the UK if you remove red signal crayfish and put them back in the water even as bait, you are breaking the law.
Put that crayfish down, it’s put me off my breakfast!😂
Mate, that is breakfast!
I agree looked creepy as heck. Like a giant black scorpion martian.
Can’t wait to find out what the blue stones are. That was fun.
The natural pebbles are so much nicer than the blue fish tank gravel! Dyed Howlite, it could have been worse, they could have been neon pink :)
Looks like someone recycled their blue aquarium stones in the creek.Another fun episode S-iFinds!
I’d absolutely love to own anything you find, enjoyed the video xx
Thanks Carol! Message me on Etsy if you want to do a deal 😉
Awesome video from you both, and with some interesting finds too. Thanks and see you on the next 👍
Thanks Daz
I shared on Twitter, great way to get more coverage ! I hoep this works. Granted your sub count was not really mu frist concern hahaha OMG what I wouldn't do for that pipe hahaha. My biggest joys come on Sunday when yall take me mudlarking. You and Nicola are the first 2 I have to watch then I have Norhtern Mudlarkers and Kit & Caboodle, then I have to watch about 4 others that each of yall have recommended lol Sunday is the grandest day for mudlarking fulfilment. I love the creative ways each of you are exposing the world to those special relics, keeping history alive and telling the stories of yesteryear. I get angry knowing that children of this day and time have little to no real education in history. I can never stop finding or reading about the real history of our past. My Grammar (she was a one room school teacher back in early 1900s, specializing in English) would always hand us a history book when we were put down for naps while we were visiting for the week. I always came home with so much new information and it was exciting.
I never had a bucket list because when I had cancer back in 1986 I did all those dare devil things over 4 years, yes those stupid things lol to relish the fact that I was still alive lol But the main desire I have in the dream sequence of my life, would to go mudlarking with you and Nicola. It is a dream sequence and not bucket list because my "survivors" body couldn't do ti anymore but I relish my Sunday's with you.
I lost my 26yo son in May in an accident and he was a treasure hunter of different sorts like you, He loved restoring old homes back to their original glory, he loved working with wood, he loved history. Back before I finally became disabled (or actually admitted it) I probably took him to over 200 to 300 museums most from small towns, he went to many Civil War reenactments and had a major understanding of tactical war methods that were used. His favorite was from North Carolina... When Lord Cornwallis stated "Let's get out of here; this place is like a damned hornet's nest." because they were being beat back from the random attacks of anything from pots and pans to pitchforks, the farmers wives were coming at them with everything they had, children were prepared for them from trees with bricks and other things to twart the British from progressing on their lands. They were being swarmed as if they had walked into a Hornets nest and fled back from where they came.
Our history is so important, ALL of our history. If we don't know where we came from we will never know where to go. Thank you for being an exceptional young man, thank yoyu for taking this old girl on a fabulous journey every Sunday. May God bless your coming ins and your going outs. Love you from 4000 miles away.
What a lovely and sad post Tal. I feel for you for the suffering you endured, but I hope these videos can provide you with a bit of escapism. I wish you all the best. And thanks for the warm comments. Stay safe. Si
@TAlbertsmom So sorry for the loss of your son TAlbert; he sounds like a wonderful young man in his hard work & his love of history. What a great tribute to him in your post to a mudlarking/treasure hunting channel. I'm guessing he would have loved @Si-Finds Thames Mudlark, Nicola White, & the other lovely ppl we have met through them, as much as you do. Yes, I understand what many don't; that even if one survives cancer, there is an enormous toll on the body that can linger for life. Congratulations for making it through, and God Bless you on this Sunday!!
No dinner for me tonight. Never eat while watching your videos... gack. LOL
I’m not on Twitter 😢. Great vid again though mate and some smashing finds. Well done 👍
I've only been watching your videos, for a few weeks, in no particular order lol and I think, I've nearly seen them all ?
I enjoy watching you with Terry, as he's a good humoured geezer and you two bounce off each other.
Regards Karen

Hi Si- I like the printer's box you've utilized for displaying your finds. I don't Tweet but your giveaway prizes are awesome! Two of your subs will be very happy. :)
nh cheyenne thanks!
Love the things you collected, on your shelves
I haven't forgotten about the blue sapphires. my back yard storage shed is full of tubs and I'm still trying to figure out which one I put them in, LOL
Oh no. Haha
the 4d sign was a shop display from fruitiers or probably a butchers shop, my dad had them in his shop
Thanks
You never disappoint me Si all of your videos are great. I love everything you post. Glad you had fun, that’s what it is all about. Stay safe and god bless.
Thanks Cyndee! I don’t myself too seriously 👍🏻
It's amazing how much he looks like him like George
Nice to have Tell along, too... All the time I was in England I'd never heard of indigenous crayfish, I wonder if they were in Somerset... I was thinking the stones could have come from something else, but I'd be excited to find them as you wouldn't think they were native to that area - but? Peeps chuck the weirdest stuff into water... Nice you can get out & about a bit more... Cheers, Mate! 🐾🦘👍😉
Thanks SW!
enjoyed the adventure, I have several hundred of those blue rocks in my gravel driveway, I put them there when I got rid of my fish tank, the rocks were in the bottom, take care
They look a lot like a scorpion, maybe they are somehow part of that family when things were forming and changing 😻
