- Опубліковано 23 лис 2024
- Join Mudlarkers Si and Matt as they search the historic Thames Foreshore in search of long lost relics. This episode is made up of TWO YEARS worth of finds - most made at night. There are epic discoveries including Hammered coins, Love tokens, Georgian coins and a 17th century token that could have been in the Great Fire of London itself! What do you think?

That 1665 tavern token is really cool. Great history there. Thanks for studying and telling us all about it. Matt's hammered coin is awesome as well. Congrats to both of you.
Cheers Lee! Amazing what you can find over a couple of years!
I had the pleasure of meeting both Si and Nic yesterday and I would just like to say they are as beautiful and just as nuts as on film. I had the best day even though I didn’t find anything at all and had the mishap of ripping my shorts in the first few minutes of meeting them I would do it all again in a heartbeat ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ xxx
Haha. Hi Sam! RIP and the shorts 🙈
Oh you’re so fortunate to have met them, how wonderful!!🥰
@@Sifinds😂😂
Hi Si, wonderful finds. 👍 Great video, yes that skyline...wow in such a relatively short time it changed so much! The 1665 token is really interesting & I love how you tell the history and showed the map, thank you for taking the time to do that, really appreciate it, it just adds to the intrigue of your finds! Thank you for sharing...take care, stay safe!
Thank you kindly 🐾🧡
Thanks for sharing your intimate times together but seriously, what a great video Si Finds! What great Si Finds! Lucky Mucky! I know you said it was a combination of larks but what fun! Now I can rest on this very hot Sunday here in Pa. I always watch you and Nic's videos and a few other of your larking Pals as well when available. Great histories you gave in Nic's video too! Thanks again Simon and your Larking Buddy as well, Matt I believe, yes? Lots of Luck inna Muck and Love, Light and Peace to you guys and your Families! DaveyJO in Pa.
Thanks Dave - yes it's amazing the quality of finds you accumulate over a few years of night larking!
Love the clean ups, especially when something can go from so unrecognizable like your coin to being able to see every little detail. It's awesome xxx
Thanks Zanna. Yes it’s satisfying to see what lies beneath the crud
It's very soothing watching things be cleaned and made into new usable items. I do enjoy that part of your channel, rather than just finding things and leaving it at that we get to see the after as well. Keep up with the good work Si xxx
Love seeing you and Matt having a good time. Always interesting to watch your finds.
Thanks Elaine 🧡👍🏻
The copper floral band and backing look like they might be the top of a hair comb
Good idea!
That’s what I first thought. Or maybe a hair clip. Mine always had a roll of “teeth” to keep my hair in place.
Hair clip was the first that came to mind
I was thinking hair clip too.🙂
I was thinking barrette.
Excellent foraging Simon and Matt, and some brilliant finds. The research you do into some of your finds is always appreciated and makes them all the more fascinating. Cheers lads.
Cheers Paddy!
Brilliant video Si. Such amazing things you find. Thanks for posting.✅✔✅🎆....
My pleasure John! 🐾🧡
Just dug up a 1960 six pence this morning here in Canada now I'm watching Si find one.
Nice clean up on the token.
Great channel
Epic - well done!
Very productive night ... and what a moon to light your way!!
nights, thanks Marcel
Si I always look forward to your videos. The clean ups are excellent. You're for sure the best at them. All your finds were splendid. Thanks for sharing.
Ah thanks pal!
Thank you for sharing the finds and the fun. See you soon.
Thanks pal!
What a great collection of finds! Thanks, Si.
Cheers man!
Thank you Si. Great video. Love the history and clean up bit.
Many thanks!
It wouldn't be a proper Sunday morning without a lark in the dark in the mud with my fav mudlover Si!
(Close 2nd, but not second best is Nic)
Great collection of finds.
My new phrase of the day is "it's a bit manky"
Thanks Si and Matt!
Haha, thanks Francine! Yeah great word for anything a bit rough looking
Love the big piece of Staffordshire ware, the cannon/grape shot pieces and Elizabeth hammered coin are really cool 😍
Thanks 🐾🧡
Wonderful to be mudlarking with you, day or night. Love the token and the coins you so carefully cleaned. Thanks Si.
Thanks Debbie!
Gosh every time I watch these videos from si finds I’m always so happy to see what he finds each video. Keep up these awesome videos, stay safe and get some luck in the muck. ☺️😁
Cheers pal!
Thank you for producing this episode; interesting tokens, coins, and finds abound! Liked the intro w/mate Matt. A bit of the lighter side of larkin’. 😅
Cheers dude! 🐾🧡
I always look forward to seeing your new videos
Kind of you to say! Thank you!
You might have to chuck naughty Matt into the river! Awesome traders token and coins! I saw an awesome picture taken of the comet Neowise taken over Stonehenge. I can see it from where I live but I don't have the big camera lens needed for a really good picture
Awesome Karen!
Matt dressed up for his daytime mudlarking excursion. Nothing like a good bromance. 😊. Your videos are always full of great finds with interesting history. I really enjoy watching your channel!
Thanks Robin!
I have so many comments..... That Matthew is a sweetie! You mudlovers have such a wealth of knowledge, about all sorts of stuff, antiquities and their periods, how to clean and take care of everything you find, you care about the environment and about the people who could use or get hurt by that horrible knife, you search in all weathers, in all conditions, night time as well, and have amazing eyesight to see such tiny objects, even in the dark. I always get a little buzz when I see a new blog from both Si finds and Nicola White. You are both so interesting....and I wanna be a mud lover too! But a bit hard from here down under. At least being in lockdown I have plenty of time to devote to you tube. Thanks for sharing all you trips out with all your fans Si. We are grateful to the max!!! There I think that’s about it..... Hooroo from Yvonne in Melbourne
Really awesome finds ..the 1666 token was epic find . 👍
Thank you!🐾🧡
Another exciting mudlark, Si-finds you are a star love your descriptions and your enthusiasm xxx
Hey Sam! Thanks lovely
Thanks Si and Matt. My mother had a tortoise shell comb with that decorative flower band and other part on it. Nice finds.
Ah thanks!
Wow Si! That was really fun! Lots of great finds! I'm happy for you! Thanks for taking me along! Hugs!
Thanks Marg! The bar is high now!
I love mudlarking Sunday video uploads!
🤘🏻🐾🧡
Hi Si,
Another great mudlarking video, you found some great finds. Can’t wait until next weeks video, or maybe sooner.
Cheers Errol!
You and Nicola having been dredging up a lot of interesting history.
.Those Great Fire coins and their "owners" are really fascinating.
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Cheers Rik !
Thank you again for a tremendous adventure - and in particular for going the extra mile to bring us the history as well as the finds. It’s amazing to think that if you hadn’t have found the token, maybe it would have been lost to history forever.
That’s true. Thanks for the kind words!
Thank you Si, such a great video ☮️🇨🇦
Thank you!
Awesome vid. Night larks are so cool. The traders token is amazing, such history behind such a small thing!
Thanks Anne!
You got a good eye finding even the tiniest things found and in the dark too. Awesome finds on the coins. That band with the flowers on it could have been a hair pin or clip maybe? Love the video Si.
Thanks Sally!
Great fun, as always! Thanks for having us along! That decorative band is beautiful.
Thanks Mudlover!
The decorative band reminds me of a female’s barrette.
Lovely video Simon as always! Cheers!
Cheers! 🐾🧡
It always amazes me how much STUFF gets into the Thames...did people just chuck everything in all the time?
Yes and no. It was a thousand times busier and has been used for 2,000 years. There used to be 1,000s of wharfs, boats and 10sbof thousands of workers. Now it’s desolate in comparison. Things were lost, but also things got washed down drains, swept into the Thames, we can’t comprehend how busy the place was
Excellent video!! Great finds and very entertaining. Keep them coming!! Georgia USA
Thanks very much! 🐾🧡
Brilliant finds chaps! cheers!
Thanks G!
Ahhhh 1739, good times.
Si! TY, really enjoyed the hunt! Amazing finds. Good to see Matt again, that big goofball! :) Thanks for the great research! You and Nic are wonderful on research and great detail of history on your finds. I love that! Ty again. Kelly/Indiana
Thank you!!
Would a powerful magnet attract the pins or are they made of something that wouldn’t be drawn to the magnet?
Awesome as always Si, Nic's whole show today was mostly about the Great Fire, you two are amazing and such fun. Keep going strong and stay safe .🇨🇦🐘🤗
Yeah I know - I designed her thumbnail for her 😛
And thank you for the kind words!
That token is amazing. Its much more interesting finding something like this because its real social history unlike a bog standard coin.. I bet the museum wanted that?
Great video! Love the Thames after dark. It seems that shining the torch around brings out the sparkly items. 😀
It sometimes does!
You find always interesting pieces. Thanks for sharing...🤩👍💗
Your mudlarking videos with you and Matt are ALWAYS so much fun. You two would be a great stand up comedy act 😁😆😂!!! One can really see and hear the endearing friendship you gents share👏😁.
Question, my friend 🧐🤔? Was that button you found a Royal Marine? I come from a very long line of USA Marines Corp veterans (4 generations) and would really love to show my brother the video. If it is , any possible date of it?
🕉️☮️stay safe and healthy 🙏. ☺️🤗🤭😘
Hi Juliet. I’m still not entirely sure about the button... yet to be verified, but we have found Royal Marine buttons in the past. Nicola has found a couple on film 👍🏻
I never tire of watching your videos Si. 🤗. You always manage to come across some of the most interesting finds! Thanks for sharing your love of mudlarking with the world. I wish we had a similar river that contained such treasures here in America. 😕
SeahawksFan 72 thank you!!!
Nice cleanup on the token. Much more detail than I would have thought possible. I have to try that soon. I have everything I need except time 😁.
Do it instead of the washing up Jim! 😂
Fantastic finds. Keep it up Si-finds.
Cheers dude!
very nice and calm lark! 1665! Well I say.....absolutely amazing....lucky you.
Thanks 🐾🧡
Great episode as always! Was about to say please put some of those pins in your Etsy store, but you already did & know some are mine!
Brilliant news!

Thanks Whitney!
Great finds. I would love to Mudlark. Love watching you and Nick. I love to find things too. 🇺🇸❤
Thank you! It’s a great hobby!
Another great watch Si, thank you so much for sharing : @ )
Anytime!
always looking forward to your new videos
Cheers Mike!
I love when you find coins and you can identify them. That’s so cool!! I always show my sons them and we would talk about what it was like back then the coin was made.
My favourite author that wrote under several names, but her legal name was Eleanor Hubert, would combine the story with real history and she talked about the great fires of London in two of her books and the way she described it you thought you were right there watching it. I found it so interesting that you found a coin from that timeframe. You must’ve been so thrilled!!
Congrats on your finds and I’m happy your friend did find some treasures as well!!
Great videos Si!!🌊🐬
7:35 "Feel like stone-age man." Mud-man more like! Wahay! Nice find Si.
😛🐾🧡
I was thinking something like "Future man who has regressed to Stone Age, finds Iron Age relic". LOL
Oh, you two, clowning around, 😂. I have to ask, how the heck did you see that shilling under the rock? Good find!
That’s a wicked looking knife. That floral band could be a piece of a lady’s bracelet. Your London Fire coin is just awesome.
Thanks Coni. Years of looking at rocks and mud!
Great video Si! Such a wonderful selection of finds. Love that token
Thanks Nic! See ya soon!
Hi mudlover wonderful mudlarking I really enjoyed it love it thank u mudlover 👍 take care

G'day Sam!
That is a cool token, great find.
Thank you!
Amazing stuff, now I need to add traders tokens to my 'want to find' list 👍
Matt should be on telly he always makes me laugh loved the intro 😂
Excellent video. Congratulations on your discoveries. Enjoyed learning the history behind your artifacts. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge. Take care and be safe😷
Thanks Jay!
Great. Was just thinking I would like some of those beautiful old pins and found some in your Etsy shop.
Woohoo!
Pins arrived! Thanks. It’s Stephe, btw, my ‘short’ version of Stephanie X
Great coinage chaps! Vid so much better without subtitles; don't know why but can't help reading them and sometimes hysterical and often distracting. Thanks for sharing your polished prize finds and the fascinating history behind them. Lizzy first is a beaut.
Hi. You can turn them off. The little CC box 👍🏻 Thanks for watching matey! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Hi Si and Matt...cant believe the threepenny bit...1949...and its my 71st birthday thursday...how spooky...luv watching ya videos...hope your both staying safe...😃
Wowza! Happy birthday! You don’t look a day over 30!
😃😃 i wish luv...god bless you...xx
Informative cleanup, wonderful results, thanks for sharing.
Great find that 1665 traders token! Do you think a lot of those pins were dumped in the river, how is it that so many of them ended up in there? Love your videos, Si, hopefully you can have a cheeky pint at the Captain Kidd next time you're mudlarking! Cheers!🇦🇺🇬🇧
The pins fell off clothes, they used 100s of them in dresses and neck ruffs etc. They would fall off and end up being swept into the Thames
Brilliant finds and the history of them is fascinating. Keep the videos coming Si 🔍👍🏼
Cheers Pete!
+Loved this Mudlark with you tonight its always so good when you get to find the coins and tokens I'm going to be right there beside you when you find the Gold coin beaming with a smile well only beside you as in UA-cam lol thank you have so enjoyed it thank you.
Yes you are there in spirit!
Matt: You're a naughty boy!!!!! 😂😂😂
Always interesting your outings.
I'm gobsmacked, such amazing history, and you lads have gained a lot of knowledge. I knew a lot of the coins before you cleaned them as I'm a numismatist and recognised them instantly. I used to look for coins in Southend on Sea under the rafters that the boats were on .didn't have detectors but coins washed up between the rocks. Amazing video good work.
Thanks matey! 🐾🧡
Blimey that was a great set of finds. Interesting to see the Christ's Hospital button and your photo of their school band in the Lord Mayor's Show - a familiar sight for me every time i've marched in the show with our youth band!
Wonder if that floral band was a barrette or hair clip? The backing probably had paint or paste stones for sparkle
Yes could be - thanks!
I’m thinking more on the top of a hair comb.
What a great mud-venture! Great finds as well, especially that token! Such a lot of history to your finds in this video Si. I do so love to see the results good cleanup.
Please, both of you safe and healthy. Here’s to luck in the muck!
Thanks dude! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Hi Si! You might find it better to use a wooden cuticle pusher stick instead of a skewer to scrape off the coin crud as it has a nice elliptical edge!
Enjoyed! Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure 🐾🧡
Excellent, very interesting 👍🏻
Thanks Brian!
Yay! Love it when you chaps work the Thames foreshore Simon. Buttons and coins and other treasures. Love London. One day I’ll get back there. Woohoo!!! Ooh police patrol too 👀
Thanks Georgie!
Nice finds! So interesting, especially about the plantation token on Nicola's video.
Yes I found one myself if you go back a bit and see my older videos
Y'all are so cool and so funny God bless you be careful that mud is sticky
Thanks Rosie£
some really great finds ☺
Thanks 🐾🧡
"Moon out tonight
I don't care if it's cloudy or bright
Cause I only have eyes.....
Another great lark Si! You found great stuff. Cheers, good health, and happy larking from Seattle...🖐❤😷
With less extravaganza and more discoveries (such as in this video), I much appreciate the fact that most of the time I have difficulties to decipher what you are saying (that is my problem, not yours). Do not change in anyway, you are a good character and you developed a precious knowledge of historical artefacts (and a great talent to find them). Tschuss
Thanks mate
@23:32 I wonder if that flowered metal band was a part of an old hair barrette? How fun....mudlarking at night!! Love this channel❤️
Thank you for throwing the knife back in the river. No one needs that about.... I bet Batman would be pissed with his logo being used on such an object! : )
WELL SAID
I laugh every time I watch the tripping intro even though I know it’s going to happen
Before I even start to settle in and enjoy Si's adventure - Please lovely people let's get Si to 50K subscribers. He never disappoints- fun, humor, crafting and there is always a bit of history / education. Let's make it happen....
Thanks Bev! If you want you could share my video on any social media platforms you want 🤘🏻🐾🧡
That token is most apt just now. The dread 'Black Death' was raging though London at that time and the Great Fire cleansing is often associated with the ending of the plague. That strip looks like a much beloved hairclip. You can see where someone did a couple of repairs on it to hold it to the backing. So much fun in the details!
Cool ✌🏻
Fantastic video! Well done Si ! Great finds! I enjoyed watching very much. Joyce, Connecticut,U.S.A.🇺🇸. ARROW *🎱
