I have been looking for a tutorial on transforming AI images to bas reliefs and stumbled on yours. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for taking the time to make this video.
For those of you with VCarve desktop do bas relief as described and import in to Microsoft 3d builder make your adjustments and save as STL then adjust in VCarve
Ryan, I just discovered your channel via a friend of mine. Your video has taught me more about this process that I have learned in the last week watching others. Can’t wait to check out the rest of your videos and whatever you add in the future. Thanks
Cross platform interdisciplinary automated fabrication at cost of raw materials.I know all of you see where this goes. Thank you for making this tutorial. Coolest !
I've been playing with this all day. ZoeDepth also comes with Stable Diffusion so it can be used locally if you have a beefy enough graphics card. I think I'm right at the edge of it working properly unfortunately. It works just as it does on Collab with lower resolution images, until I try 1k image size, then it does some funky stuff to the results. Any larger than that and I run out of VRam on a 11GB 1080ti. But as it turns out, those funky results work great to add the detail back into the depth results from the ZoeDepth V3 Collab. I need to figure out how to install it locally without Stable Diffusion so that it uses less VRAM. FYI, this works without issue in Edge (on Windows), probably because it's Chromium based.
Hey Ryan, very interesting video. I'll have to watch it a few more times before my mind can absorb it all. A couple of things that I noticed (I am sure that you already know this), to reduce the thickness of your model set the base height to a negative value and then replace values below z. Also, when you baked the two models in to one, you can use the create component from visible model button. Then you have the baked image but you still have the originals in case you want to make changes and try again. Looking forward to getting deeper in to this. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for your video. Point of imporvment: Im new to aspire, or vcarve or whatever, so it was really hard to follow along, cause you were missing the left of your screen, so I didnt know which menues you were clicking. But still. thanks.
I will do full video on how to get even better models by applying this to modeling fundamentals. Taking suggestions on what model to make next. Give me a wild idea!
THANK YOU! I've been hunting for easier ways to make depth maps for fiber laser engraving and so far this one is the best I've found. Any suggestions for a post-output editor that's not as pricey as Aspire?
Great, did you post your Blender video yet? I've been using similar techniques in blender just with surface displacement and PNG files from Gen AI. I think a light touch with the sculpting tools might make it less "flat", eg a human carver would have made the fish rounder and slightly bent to give greater realism. Good work though. 👍
Is it possible to download tiling zeodepth to run off of your own hardware instesd of using googles? Much the same way using Stable Diffusion and other AI generators, rather then relying on something in the cloud?
For some reason I'm getting banding when importing into Aspire. This is the depth map, not the original image. Any clues what I may have set incorrectly? I can't see the banding in the depth map when I view it in Photoshop but perhaps it is there?
Solved. For some reason if you import bitmap it gives banding. You have to directly create component as you did in your video. I thought I was saving myself a step because it comes in at full document size so you don't have to rescale it... but...
I've been playing with this for hours, it's fantastic, but for my application it would be necessary to transform real photos into relief, like a photo of a ruler, or a soldier, is there any technique for this? The way you did it is only possible to do with images generated by AI, is there any way to transform real photos into relief? Have you ever needed to do this?
Hellp I tried twice and i got a restart error .. says to restart. Also why is is it downloading 500mb , 600mb?? Are they downloading my files ??? I'm using google chrome. the file img is 1.8mb..
You absolutely can use aspire for laser engraving, tho it's $2000. You can probably do almost everything you need in v carve pro. They're both vetric software but v carve is $700. You can still do 3d with vcarve but it's limited in how much you can do. If you need the feature to import an image to do 3d from tho, that is aspire only.
FYI: Google will temporarily ban you if you don't DISCONNECT from the server before leaving. As long as you DISCONNECT before leaving, you will never be banned.
13:20 Bro, say it again........If this AI keeps progressing, I will be saying farewell to 3D models and embracing a life surrounded by soil and plants...................... Job Title : Chief Gardener🥺😥
Nahh you’ll just need to pivot slightly. It is still difficult for people to get what’s in their mind’s eye to a final model. Tons left to discover and work on, not everyone will even do this. Some people just want to hire out and that will always be the case I think.
I do CNC wood working full time, for a living. While I might use this for the odd thing here and there, I’ve also spent a lot of money paying for well made models from places like CGTrader, Design & Make etc. A good modeler (human) is worth his pay. This stuff is only going to be free until they get everyone dependent on it anyway. The smart modeling guys will learn to use this to get the bulk of the rough work done and then do what they do to make it final. Hang in there… I used to be a VCR Repair Technician…

I also had him at 2x but as for info and tips it was good content. Only thing that would make it better would be how to make the same thing with free software as the engraving software is payed for the rest kudos.

@@LockhartCreate Hi.
Do you know a way to do the same but generating 3d models for 3d printers?
Since they also need a depth map as well.
Great work!!! thank you for all the time you have invested into making this easier for us to understand.
I got a chance to pl;ay around with the AI links and made a file. Pretty easy to make following the video. Thanks for the easy to follow instructions.

The zoedepth keeps with this error "WARNING: The following packages were previously imported in this runtime:

Any clue?
Great Tut. Very well explained. Thank you
Great video, thanks for sharing!
Muy bueno, espero ver tus proximos videos de relieves 3d
Thanks for this. As i commented on fb, you have a talent for explaining a process that is not easy to understand. Well done.
Thank you! I appreciate your support!
Fascinating! Thanks for a great video and looking forward to learning more. Subscribed.
Waiting for this for many months. Thx. Waiting for more from you. Just clicked subscribe button
Thanks for the detailed instruction. Do you have an engraved result on a piece of wood or metal? I am curious to know the resolution. Thanks!
You earned a subscription and bell icon.... Looking fwd to future videos on bas reliefs❤❤

Very nice results , cant wait for the follow up
Pretty damn cool. I don't think I ever need to buy another 3D relief ever again! lol. Subbed.

Great tutorial, exactly what I needed to know
I am eager to see the Blender approach to this technique.
Thanks again.
any info on that?
Thanks, very interesting.
Awesome 🎉🎉 can a portrait photo also be created in bass relief this way ?
Отличный урок, именно то, что мне нужно было знать.
Nice project, like that it’s not too edited.
I was procrastinating on getting the video out and just decided to do it. Thanks for your support!
Thank you for this!!! Where's the blender version? 😄
Typical new UA-camr nervousness, reduce the Z height by checking the box. haha!
thanks...you have helped me alot!!!
How to generate depth map from an image sequence of talking person video ?
Can this be adapted for laser cutting through Lightburn rather than CNC Aspire?
Even if CNC wouldn't do well with all the detail, I would think a laser engraver running lightburn should work fine.
Yes, great for fiber lasers
I love this technique, but I curious if there is a aspire like program for a Mac??
This is a great in depth tutorial but is there a free software that can do this? Aspire is a very expensive one...
anything cheaper than Aspire to adust the depth and make it more even? This worked great but I'm using the trial and that is crazy expensive... 🙂
need more now !
good stuff
Wow, cool. Im a fan. 10/10
So how did you get the second image with the details?
what is a ZoeD_M12_N .pt its 1gig .i downloaded.from end of file to pc . not show what it is
After ZoeDepth generates the GLB file how to you get the texture map from the JPG you uploaded if you wanted it?
Is it possible to download tiling zeodepth to run off of your own hardware instesd of using googles?
Much the same way using Stable Diffusion and other AI generators, rather then relying on something in the cloud?
Is this method also applicable to simple line drawings?
For some reason I'm getting banding when importing into Aspire. This is the depth map, not the original image. Any clues what I may have set incorrectly? I can't see the banding in the depth map when I view it in Photoshop but perhaps it is there?

Is it compatible with ezcad 2?
Can you use a drawing or other photo to create the ai grayscale?
yes! that involves a few different programs/services. I can make that the next video?
@@LockhartCreate please do. I like to be able to create 3d carves of people. Like family photos.
Same with me. Can you create a video that covers original images/photos, not necessarily AI? Subscribed…will be looking. Great work BTW.

Hello, what is aspire at 10:00? (for the neebies), can I use this for laser engraving, if yes how? thanks

It's a great video, but towards the end you start using terms that I'm not familiar with.
can we use a jpg that was once a png? or does it need to originally be a jpeg? does that make sense?
It just needs to be jpg to properly upload. If you can maintain quality you can convert it from any format to jpg.
