Dr. Gundry, I have never liked salad dressings, and was always looking for something to use instead. Then I came across one of your videos, and have been using extra virgin (cold pressed) olive oil ever since. It goes great on my arugula and on other salads, and tastes great! Thank you so much!
Depending on the olive oil, it can cause acid reflux. Colavita doesnt but CA Ranch does. Both are organic & EVOO. There is a brand called Joseph's (I had never heard of it but watched an olive oil tasting video on youtube w/an Italian man & he discussed the different regions & types of olive oil).

I love Gundry olive oil . It’s so good. I struggle to make a bottle last 2 weeks.😂I take a shot in the morning give me more energy to work out when I’m fasted
Thanks a lot for the rich information. I once bought bitter olive oil from a farmer in Portugal and thought it was of inferior quality to the smooth one I purchased the year before from him.
P.S.: Do you have an idea how it is possible that Italy exports olive oil despite their national consumption exceeding their national production? Do they import from Spain and sell it s Italian? I once heard in the 80s that Italy imported Marble from Estremoz/Portugal and sold it as Carrara marble.
Make sure you are consuming real olive oil. There's lots of cheating going on in commercialized oils. Like mixing with cheaper dry fruit oils. Also, it's 1st cold press oil that has the strongest medicinal properties. It tastes very different.. more liquid, tasting flat at first glance but has a very subtile almond or truffle taste.
I started drinking extra virgin olive oil two weeks ago. I bought the Bertolli brand. It is smooth and peppery. I’m waiting for more results. I drink it before bed time.
I take a swing right out of the bottle first thing in the morning. I’ve noticed that my hair is thicker and shiny. I use extra virgin. I have to bypass the taste it’s strong. But a small price to pay for so many benefits. 😊❤️
Kudos Dr. Gundry ... where can I find the recipe for the olive oik cake please? I only have one recipe from back then when I lived in Greece. I would love a second recipe. 🤗
I used to use California Olive Ranch oil, but they now mix it with oils from all over the world. I now use Costco organic extra virgin olive oil which has been rated number one.
@@bryancarlson3673 California Olive Ranch sells both single origin (California) and the one you refer to which is from multiple locations. You can find both at Whole Foods. Or, order Seka Hills or Olio Santo on line, a very good olive oils from Northern California.
I needed this today! Just yesterday I told my daughter not to cook with it (I heard this from another Dr on UA-cam). I have been taking shots of 1T once a day for the last few weeks. 👍 Obviously, that needs to go up. Hey, here’s an idea to keep it fresh. Vacuum seal it in dark mason jars in between uses and keep it in the cupboard. I have a handy mason jar vacuum sealer I got for about $30 on Amazon.
I use olive oil as a skin and hair conditioner. I also use it as a suntan oil if I am only exposing myself bare skinned to the sun for an hour or so. Works great. I would think some of the nutrients would end up it my bloodstream when using it on my skin.
Very nice video , calm n very easy to understand and absorb the information. Like someone on here mentioned on here, ALLAH almighty mentioned in the holly Quran theses foods olive/olive oil , Figs , pomegranate ,Dates and more.
Hi, I put Olive oil in the fridge to harden to make garlic butter instead of using butter, Is it okay to keep it for a long time ? Please let me know the best way to store it
Wow,so the olive oil imported from Seville Spain is the most bitter I've ever eaten ,so I guess Central Market Seville cold pressed extra virgin olive which is imported from Spain to the HEB store in Texas is authentic 😋😋😋😋
Oleic acid, the predominant component of olive oil is itself beneficial. "Oleic acid has recently been shown to activate the all-powerful sirtuin longevity circuits"
I’ve been told the best time to take Oliver oil is on an empty stomach. I do Intermittent fasting and would like to enjoy olive oil right when I wake up. Does a shot of olive oil break my fast?
Dr G - I don't get it. In regard to cooking You say that olive oil does not oxidize fast and easy. In regard to contact with air (not sunlight) You say that it oxidizes quite fast. I buy olive oil in 3 liter (sometimes even 5 liter) metal containers and I consume it in about 4-6 weeks after opening. I have never observed any strange changes in taste, smell or colour of the oil after 4-6 weeks. My extra virgin olive oil is never older than 1 year.
its better to add it separately to your food or drink! and yes you have to be careful about the olive oil you get. Extra virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)... the one I get kicks the backs of my throat and I really like that feeling!!!...
I'm confused, Dr. Gundry stated that in the Predimed Trial that the participants had cardiovascular disease (2:47 mark) but when I did my own research here's what I found: The sample size of the PREDIMED trial was approximately 7,447 individuals, as reported in the New England Journal of Medicine. The participants did not have pre-existing cardiovascular disease at the beginning of the trial, as the study aimed to assess the effects of a Mediterranean diet supplemented with extra-virgin olive oil or nuts on the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease in individuals at high cardiovascular risk. I have had two widow maker heart attacks so the accuracy of this information is important to me. I hope someone responds to this inquiry as I would really like to find out which is true, thanks.
Great information!! I’ve been taking 2 tablespoons/day for a couple years now and feel great. It keeps my resting heart rate low while sleeping. Question is regarding oxidization of olive oil? Is this a thing does olive oxidize while it’s raw? Or only when cooking? Could you explain this process and is it a concern?
@jeffpickers4141 Yes olive oil does oxidize. Once it is opened the oxidation process begins. It has about a two month shelf life after it is opened. As Dr Gundry stated keep it in a dark place like a cabinet and not on the counter. It will last longer. Do not buy the economy sized bottles so you can finish it within 2 months. I recommend buying his own brand from his website and using it to take a shot of every day (it has about 30 times the polyphenols as other types and then buy the best you can find for cooking based on his recommendations in this video. If you can afford to buy just his then do that but it is expensive. Worth it but expensive.
I use an olive oil called November i take it daily along with my husband and i also give it to my senior dog we have had great benefits especially with my arthritic fingers almost back to normal we are avid believers that this is working great for us, November can be purchased at amazon..
Also my EVOO says cold press not 1st, it has a harvest date but no pressing date. It is in a dark glass 1liter bottle. It is from California and does give a throat tickle. If we only have a harvest date, how can we judge a pressing date?
How long should you swish olive oil in your mouth for health? I've heard of a technique called oil pulling, which seems to be the same thing. I just want to know for how long this should be done. Thanks.
@@maxthegamer I swish it then swallow it rather than spitting it out. Dr. Gundry mentioned he swishes it but didn't say for how long. Hence, my question. Thanks for your reply.
I am only going on my experience 20mins and then spit out the oil not into a sink as a blockage will accur Then rinse the mouth of impurities with water I do agree that olive is good to ingest and I do myself

Dr Gundry’s olive is the gold standard for polyphenols. The high amount is why people may not think it tastes good. It can be an acquired taste. Tastes do differ but if you want to maximize the benefits, I would use his. If you don’t like it find one you do like but use his guidelines for choosing it.

I learnt more today off u I was buying big tins
I use it on everything but can't get my LDL down. MY cardiologist thinks it's the olive oil.
I ve been drinking olive oil for over 20 yrs i have never ever heard in my life of anyone having acid reflux as a result of drinking oo..if anything it diminishes acid reflux and since it has a strong amount and is full of high in polyphenols it calms everything down the intestines and is very anti inflammatory gut wise
I agree with Dr Gundry, I personally experience , one tea spoon before .
I had to put this video on 2x playback speed..otherwise great. makes me feel good about the fact I get up 5 AM everyday and I take 4 spoons of best Olive oil available on empty stomach
We eat olive oil every day, and mainly because we cook all of our food every day. Love your great health presentations Dr Steven. But please add captions. Thank you!

Dear Readers! My parents were born in Italy.... and I was raised with a Mediterranean Diet. Olive oil was part of our every day food and I grew-up on fresh fruit and vegetables and legumes always drizzled with the very best olive oil! My Italian mom was a superb cook ! I continued to cook wonderful dishes and, I will always look 10 years younger than my actual age! My complexion is still smooth and youthful I owe my good health to the Mediterranean Diet! And of course to my wonderful parents! I must add.... always walked miles daily! Thank you Dr. Gundry!
I used to think Coconut Oil was the best, but now I am convinced that Olive Oil is key for Optimum Health! I take a teaspoon every day and I cook with it also. I am 68 and my health is radiant because of things like Olive Oil (and good genes from my mom) Thank you Doctor 👍🏽👍🏽
Olive oil is good for the liver . Coconut oil is good for the lungs .
Too much saturated fat in coconut oil.
@@DK-pr9nyCoconut Oil contains medium chain triglycerides which is a good fat and Omega 3 fatty acids. Cold pressed virgin coconut oil obviously is the one to use. Rather check for trans fats as those are the spoilers. Any coconut oil that has ‘hydrogenated’ or ‘partially hydrogenated’ is a no-no as it’s been modified for shelf life.
@@paulkwan4624 Thank you Paul👍🏽
@@DK-pr9nyToo much? That is conventional medical propaganda! It is full of beneficial medium chain triglycerides and improves cardiovascular health. It is a natural antibiotic ... highly effective against gastrointestinal parasites. On the contrary, it is sugars and an overabundance of omega 6 in most seed oils ... especially canola... that causes problems. I encourage you to do your research with information from trusted independent holistic practitioners.
I love Gundry olive oil . It’s so good. I struggle to make a bottle last 2 weeks.😂I take a shot in the morning give me more energy to work out when I’m fasted
It may be useful but the taste and smell are unpleasant.
I add olive oil to almost everything, including salads, sandwiches, and food. I look for every excuse to add it, whenever I can.
You’re very smart. Dr. Gundry has said that food is a vehicle to get more olive oil into your mouth. It is difficult to consume too much.
@@tonymars1093 Thank you!
@@alainvosselman9960massive mafia operation in Italy. Well said
I started drinking extra virgin olive oil two weeks ago. I bought the Bertolli brand. It is smooth and peppery. I’m waiting for more results. I drink it before bed time.
No. Use a better product. That stuff is lower end.
I bought something from Italy.
Great idea carrying your own olive oil into restaurants. Bring some pink salt along too.
A few people I know and some doctors here on UA-cam actually swear by Laudemio from Tuscany, Italy 🇮🇹
Amazing,
Dr thanks so much for the topic, BUT some other dr critised use of olive oil, how it is?
I get California Ranch 100% California grown oil. I don't trust other brands.
I take a swing right out of the bottle first thing in the morning. I’ve noticed that my hair is thicker and shiny. I use extra virgin. I have to bypass the taste it’s strong. But a small price to pay for so many benefits. 😊❤️
Delicious dunked in bread.
I wash the olive oil down by drinking V-8 juice ... it takes away the pepper taste 😎
Kudos Dr. Gundry ... where can I find the recipe for the olive oik cake please? I only have one recipe from back then when I lived in Greece. I would love a second recipe. 🤗
I drizzle EVOO (California Olive Ranch) on bagels, prior to adding guacamole, or Greek Yogurt, walnuts and honey. So good!
I used to use California Olive Ranch oil, but they now mix it with oils from all over the world. I now use Costco organic extra virgin olive oil which has been rated number one.
Good for you, I love EVO and bread, but my body doesn't like bread. The next day my oesophagus feels like sandpaper..

Thank you for covering the theme comprehensively.
You can cook with it. Sautéing is fine & you can use it in the oven. Smoke point is 400 degrees but I never go above 350.
I use olive oil as a skin and hair conditioner. I also use it as a suntan oil if I am only exposing myself bare skinned to the sun for an hour or so. Works great. I would think some of the nutrients would end up it my bloodstream when using it on my skin.
they do
@cmihalcea You both put EVOO on your hair and skin? It seeps into your skin? So it really help you guys?
Very nice video , calm n very easy to understand and absorb the information.
Like someone on here mentioned on here, ALLAH almighty mentioned in the holly Quran theses foods olive/olive oil , Figs , pomegranate ,Dates and more.
Hi, I put Olive oil in the fridge to harden to make garlic butter instead of using butter, Is it okay to keep it for a long time ?
Please let me know the best way to store it
My Sicilian grandmother used olive oil for everything. I have been using it for years. What types of olive oil do you recommend? Just double checking
I am open to receiving wealth 💚🙏
Wow,so the olive oil imported from Seville Spain is the most bitter I've ever eaten ,so I guess Central Market Seville cold pressed extra virgin olive which is imported from Spain to the HEB store in Texas is authentic 😋😋😋😋
I’m in San Antonio so have access to HEB 😊 how is the flavor
Oleic acid, the predominant component of olive oil is itself beneficial. "Oleic acid has recently been shown to activate the all-powerful sirtuin longevity circuits"
I’ve been told the best time to take Oliver oil is on an empty stomach. I do Intermittent fasting and would like to enjoy olive oil right when I wake up. Does a shot of olive oil break my fast?
Olive oil will not break your fast, being it's a fat means it won't have any affect on your insulin.
Yes it will break a fast
You will need to digest it so yes anything that you need to digest will break your fast
I'm down 2+pounds with all of that in the belly since 2 tablespoons daily for several months
My belly has gone down a lot. When I put on my shirt it don’t pouch out in the front any more. I sit down now I can see my feet. Thank you Dr.
I use 3 bottles a month of Dr Gundrys polyphenol olive oil this olive oil is amazing. Thank you 😊
Dr G - I don't get it.
As I understand it that burning sensation is proof that it is pure.
My triglycerides were previously normal but doubled after taking 2 tablespoons of virgin olive oil for a month.
Well that destroys the narrative
Maybe it was fake olive oil
Yes, fake "olive oil" will do that to you. Do your research, and stop being a dupe.
My Triglycerides dropped 30% in the same length of time drinking a Tablespoon every day
I have all the books BUT this is a great refresher class.. THANKS..I saved it!
Thanks for your advice
I appreciate the information and transparency.
You just saying to purchase fr another vendor makes me want to support you.
Thanks for letting us know that is safe to cook with olive oil at high temperatures. I had thought it was unsafe due to oxidation.
You can cook with it but not above 400. I never go above 350 in the oven though. Sesame oil tolerates high heat.
I use avocado oil.
@@youdoer I also cook with avocado oil.
@jeffpickers4141
Yes olive oil does oxidize.
So is it better to take olive oil as a drink when you’re fasting?
yes! I do take 2 tablespoons of olive oil in the morning with lemon juice and 1 cup of hot water...
starting tonite to do the same thing!!!
I'm figuring I've no chance of buying the best EVOO long term
I use an olive oil called November i take it daily along with my husband and i also give it to my senior dog we have had great benefits especially with my arthritic fingers almost back to normal we are avid believers that this is working great for us, November can be purchased at amazon..
I am on clopidogrel. Is there a danger of using olive oil with this medication? Where can I find info on the Mediterranean diet? Thanks
Watch out for blended mixes also, low quality
So Dr G, what is causing the EVOO to smoke if not oxidizing? What is causing the low smoke point? Thank you! ❤
Also my EVOO says cold press not 1st, it has a harvest date but no pressing date. It is in a dark glass 1liter bottle. It is from California and does give a throat tickle. If we only have a harvest date, how can we judge a pressing date?
The chloroplasts in plant cells are where photosynthesis takes place. Plants also have mitochondria, with the same function as in animal cells.

How long should you swish olive oil in your mouth for health? I've heard of a technique called oil pulling, which seems to be the same thing. I just want to know for how long this should be done. Thanks.

Dr what about when you have galbladder problems? Can you then still use so much olive oil?
I drink 2T/day. Had gall bladder polyps which didnt show up in US(ultrasound) of abdomen
I never thought it oxidized because it smokes, it’s just simply because of the linoleic acid is absolutely going to break down
