The one from Africa is actually from North Africa, where an old and beautiful country named Tunisia is located, a couple of hundred miles away from Europe. That land has thousands of years of old, rich tradition of producing olive oil since the Roman Empire and even before, just like the regions around the Mediterranean Sea.

I believe they say that Tunisian is amongst the best. Highest in polyphenols, antioxidants, etc. The harsher climate stresses the plants more and makes them produce more of these compounds in return. Which just happens to be the stuffs that are good for us

The name of that olive oil from Tunisia is Terra Delyssa . It sold in my local grocery store in Virginia for 10 dollars , on sale 4 months ago , when it first appeared on the shelf. It now sells for twenty dollars . It reads on the bottle Gold Award Best olive oil in the world 2023 . The earlier bottles in the store read the same, but 2022 . Apparently the testers for that competition like it .

@Ffrita2068 Tunisia doesn't have to push itself anywhere. It is a country proud of its own long history and rich and unique traditions.

totally agree. I started using it last year after a doctor on YT recommended EVO from Tunisia in particular because of higher polyphenols. At last check, my bad cholesterol dropped significantly compared to a year ago (within normal range now). Very tasty oil too, plus, most importantly, organic

Thank you for an excellent explanation of how to purchase olive oil. Some information I was familiar with but so many excellent points. I need to read labels more carefully and change my purchasing practices. We saw the olive groves in Spain which lead us to loving Spanish olive oil. Thank you again for such great information.

@@user-ej5xf6ue8fthe one that says extra virgin! Try a few of them until you find the one you like. Just make sure it says extra virgin and made in Italy or Spain or Portugal or Greece or ... And not imported. It takes too long for olives to be shipped from place to place. Just like wine. You find some wines are made from a combination of imported grapes to Canada, first.

I have been buying the Tunisian oil for several years because the price is lower than most other oils and it tastes good.
