The way I’ve been waiting for this episode since I saw the clip on TikTok 😂😂 (I’m joining Patreon soon tho!) Y’all are legit my favorite content creators. And as a Haitian, I truly relate to loving a country that just doesn’t function on any level.

firstly, love watching your podcasts they're literally the best. Secondly, as a white girl from Australia, our identity is so fucking confusing. I'm technically Irish, but my family migrated here so long ago that any connection to that country has been completely cut out. Because Australia was literally a prison dumping ground for my ancestors who were forced fancy white people slavery (aka indentured servitude + segregation), it's not like the Irish had any real power in australia at the start (our lineage was displaced and stolen from their homeland, then dumped here to rot). But of course, instead of teaming up with the indigenous Australians who weren't just being enslaved by genocided, the Australian Irish community post ww2 said "fuck it we'll just abandon our language and culture and heritage and assimilate into whiteness", therefore gaining white power, and we only got let into whiteness by the British cause they needed to feed their military with fresh blood to defeat the Nazi's. Literally, I only had one class on the "Australian identity" in grade 9 history class, and it's basically the "ANZAC spirit of mateship and resiliance". The british australians were already empty of a soul, and the irish australians were so desperate to be seen as having a soul, that they both just erased all history pre the world wars and rooted our entire cultural identity in a world war that wasn't even involving us - we were fighting for the coloniser! So yeah, where the fuck does that leave me? No wonder white bitches constantly appropriate literally anyone with an actual, living, breathing, spiritual, and community based culture, because humans inherently need that and white people ate their own tails. Ever noticed how every white person does a little irish jig on st patricks day, even if they aren't irish? It's because we're holding onto scraps. At least that's my theory. So where do we go from here? Do we try and re-assimilate into our old countries? But the Irish don't want a bunch of aussies all up in their business. It's tricky, and leaves the whole of white australia with literally no soul.
    Anyways bye x

i have a genuine belief that the rise of this "new kind of person" is on its way. whether or not i identify with the term is up to my ego, but as a young Hispanic in the imperial core and my devotion to dialectical materialism and socialism, my reckoning with my Mexican heritage and so forth - i for one am going to be spending my life attempting to attract that kind of person, attempting to foster them and myself and attempting to generate something a little better

Brooooo omfg the 2008 crash made me laugh cause my family quite literally lost everything. And I do mean everything we were homeless for a while until we moved 7 children into a one bedroom trailer after living in a two story house with a pool 😂 it changed the entire trajectory of my life but I’m thankful for it now tbh

I'm 17 minutes in and I'm not sure if Don's argument gets any more or less compelling 😅 but I'd rather live in a 1st world country (the most ideal situation would be having dual citizenship). There's a reason migrants trek through jungles and sail by sea on overcrowded boats, trying to escape poverty, crime, corruption, war... and workers in developing countries don't necessarily get time off when sick, Don is speaking to a small % as there's many workers who do not only earn below liveable wages but work for employers who exploit them i.e. no work no pay... with that said, I love my developing country - the culture and the people ❤

Your experiences in the US as someone from Africa is very different from the experiences of someone who is descendent of slaves and I really hope people understand that your experiences don't negate ours. Yes, we are both Black, but our starting points are different, our engagement with mainstream US culture is different, our insertion into society is different; the US was not setup to oppress African immigrants. The same can be said about Black descendents of slaves from the US moving to the continent of Africa. Yes, we are Black, but we are not Ghanaian or Kenyan or South African or Nigerian; those systems were not set up to oppress us. We must be careful to recognize that when we transition from one to another that our experiences will not be the same. Furthermore, I think that we should use our relative privilege as a transplant to educate, uplift, and expose as much as we can.

Omg we participate in capitalism too😭 people who are poorer aren’t allowed to rest. To me, I do think the non-continental diaspora might be able to do something here…. I think the internet and shit is great.. but can these tools be produced in a more ethical way?
