I'm not a beginner , I've been shooting for around 8 years and for the first time today someone pointed out how much I raise my shoulder. Really going to have to work on this as obviously a bunch of muscle memory to overcome as well. I noticed without raising shoulder I actually struggled to maintain full draw. Anyways thank you for such a clear easy to understand video

Clear and concise! I still struggle to keep my bow shoulder low even after almost two years of practice. There is a distinct moment when I anchor where i can clearly see my arm go slightly down...i think it could be the front shoulder still raising up a bit. To counter that i am keeping my lats engaged all the time untill the arrow has left the bow but it's really hard to nail it down...

Now that I've been derailed by a shoulder impingement as a result of bad form, I'm definitely paying close attention to these helpful form videos. Thanks for posting. Hopefully they will help me get back shooting again.

I suffered a sore bow shoulder. Engaging the muscles below the arm pit miraculously took it away..and I THOUGHT I had a good position prior but obviously not.

@@mountainpaddler2242 I guess I am some but my thought is more towards pressing the humerus down before raising the bow arm. Just like he describes. I believe I saw this in an earlier video of his.

Thank you for all your videos, they are super helpful and informative. Looking at my reflection works for me especially using springs to work out back tension and bow shoulder resistance. Cheers.

Wow right on time! I just bought my next level bow today, a 45# horse bow and I really need to start keeping an eye on the shoulder. Thanks!

An incredibly important and very well explained video for the Technic! I currently have this problem over longer distances and now I know how to work on it. Because if the shoulder comes up, the pull-out is no longer correct and you mess up the entire shot with it. Thank you so much for this video! Stay healthy and take care of yourself so that we all have something from you and your brilliant videos for a long time. Greetings from Germany

Great advice. Many thanks. Caution though: I was training to keep that shoulder low in 2nd year of shooting, over did it and was out for a season with ripped ligaments. It was a light bow too (Horizon handle) 28lb limbs. So be patient take it easy I would say

Golden advice there! So easy to over do it too, glad to hear you're on the mend now though! There's some more info in this video about how to avoid excessively pulling it down: ua-cam.com/video/pIJKDBvsaR0/v-deo.html

These tutorials are really helpful, i have recently come back to the sport after a 15 year or so hiatus. I'm treating myself as a complete novice so with this in mind i would love some advice on gear, specifically which bow to buy as a decent starting point for a beginner, recurve shooting preferably.
