I have watched several different experienced target-recurve archers explain/demonstrate the clicker on UA-cam. But, you are the first and only one to emphasize that, "YOU control the clicker and the shot; don't let the clicker control you and when you release the arrow." Perhaps for VERY experienced, HIGHLY skilled archers, a perfect hold and a perfect aim are the same thing. For me, however, not so much! Thank you for your guidance.
@@akeelis1984 Pythagoras if your bow arm is consistent and your anchor is the same so should the angel of the string towards the bow . question is does forcing it to an unnatural place get the desired result simply because someone told you it the right thing?
I look at my clicker whenever my rythm is off and I need to match my feel and my idea about it again. If my clicker is going off at moments I didn't expect it, I pay some extra attention to it and look at the point during anchor.
Do you have any tips or tricks for the ones that are controlled by their clicker? To me it became like a Pavlov reaction; when the clicker goes, the arrow leaves. No chance of holding it for even a second.
@@mortenjacobsen5673 Thanks for explaining. Probably not worth a complete video, but here goes nothing: Start off by going to blank bale and shoot some arrows without clicker, holding your anchor position for at least 3-5 seconds. When you get the hang of this, (30 successful attempts), try using the clicker. On blank bale, you should be able to do this. If not, close your eyes and just focus on your hands moving away from each other. Then, when you get the hang of shooting with your clicker again, try holding the string for an additional 2 seconds before actually releasing. This is to train the brain into controlling the clicker rather than being controlled. If you can consistently do this, it's time to put up a target (short distance, not challenging). You can increase the distance slowly as you become more comfortable with shooting with a clicker on a target, until you have reached your desired distance and shot. I hope this helps, good luck!

Hi Sjef, a quick question... what's your arrow lenght in reference with your draw lenght. I noticed in this video that it seems you have quite a short arrow. I am presently set-tuning my sons clicker at this point and trying to mimic your clicker position as seen on this video. Best regards and more power to Triple Trouble Archery from the Philippines.
If you/one use the rhomboid to contract to execute the shoot , it has a set range of motion that will almost always be the same due to anatomy. so how do you decide to setup the clicker when taking into account the human reaction time ?is not your anchor and alignment the basis of draw length making a clicker almost useless?
Hello everyone. I am a junior high school guy. I am in trouble with my form now. What I am troubled now is that when I pull the bow, the left shoulder rises. No matter what I do, I am in trouble. How can I lower my left shoulder and drop a good clicker? Please let me know.
Probably the most controversial clicker question that comes up when I talk with coaches is whether or not you should look at the arrow under the clicker. Some insist that you shouldn't, others that you should. Sjef, seeing as you say you sometimes look at it, could you tell us why you do it, and when? Thanks! :)

Love the Aussie tee shirt! Thanks for the video Sjef.
I really love your videos. Always good explanations. I've been shooting for 8 months. I attached my clicker two days ago... :)
You're the best Sjef! Thank a lot
Really nice that you guys keep doing these videos. I'm learning a lot! Thank you!
Many thx 4 the video. I will try out to wait another second befor shooting. I hate to release by the clicker of my neighbors.
Thanks for the advice. Recently I just got back to shooting with a clicker and been struggling a little.
From the video with Jaab I learnt the motion to trigger clicker is more of a push in bow hand shoulder.
Great video as always! Could you please shed light on string alignment as I cannot find a good explanation in any videos. Thanks
depends on if you can bring the string to the nose or you have to put your face on the string , head position and alignment what matters most?
@@mortenjacobsen5673 there's a lot more to it than that and it's not as easy as it seems. Thanks for your input though.

Do you use different Clicker setting/position for different distances ? For example, between shooting at 18m and at 70m ?
I don't but know that some people do
