Thats whay makes a game so good. This type of stuff was what games like Devil May Cry 4 were conpletely full of. There are incredible videos of people like Donguri using all the glitches and movement/weapon tech to make awesome style montages
*****UPDATE***** Dash Storage received a change in a recent patch (March 2023). Dash Storage is no longer has an infinite duration during a slide while it's held. It will now drain at a 20% rate while sliding.
Nice tech, a much simpler strategy is also to just hit slide the moment you hit the ground and instantly jump again after a dash jump, you keep your momentum and regain your stamina since you're in the air, probably would work well in conjunction with this
Yup! That's slide jump hopping. You can Super Slide Jump that way too, I covered those a bit in a different video. The slide hopping much faster this is just a fun mechanic.
lol, I didn't get it at first. In the quickest way I can think, here's a small typed guide of how to, without going too into what's happening exactly (I know that's what the vid is for, but sometimes a lil typed portion helps me) - 1: Go to 2-4 to practice 2: Perform a dash jump (interrupt your dash with a jump input, if performed correctly, it should consume 2 stamina and retain dash speed for the duration of the jump.) Your dash is stored. 3: Slide, then right after letting go of slide, press jump. This is the trickiest part. If you're a little early, you'll notice you can still maintain some (if not all) momentum. If you're hitting it right on, you'll actually consume some stamina, and a different sound effect will play accompanied by a speed boost. If you're hitting late, you'll lose momentum. 4: String these jumps together by spending the least amount of time possible while sliding. If I'm moving around with this technique, I'm just barely tapping the slide button. This bit isn't for everyone, but since those inputs are so close, I'd suggest having the inputs on different hands (e.g. I have jump set to spacebar and slide set to a side mouse button. I don't think you can bind jump to scroll wheel in this game, but I don't think it'd help too much with this specific tech, or at least I haven't felt the need for it [where in a game such as, say Apex Legends, you pretty much need to bind jump to scroll wheel for proper bunny hops.])
I think these guides will become really invaluable over time, as the game exits early access and (im assuming) becomes way more popular in the speedrunning scene. Also, 5:15 is fucking disgusting

There's a lot of mechanical - what keys are hit - similarities between the FDJ from ultrakill and slide hopping in Titan Fall 2. Anyone familiar with slide hopping in Titan Fall should be able to learn how to do the FDJ pretty quickly. Hell, I was already doing this and didn't even know what the tech was called. So long story short if you know how to slide hop in TF|2 you know how to FDJ.
i found a really cool tech by accident, its the blue orb thingy, so u gotta grapple the blue orb while you are above it then you slide and jump and start chaining the slide jump thing, das it
Would it be too much to ask for a full input list to do this for? This seems like something you need to have something to refer back to to get at first. Actually... Nah, I need to jump in game and test this out to get it. I was just too confused to get it the first time 'round.
@@HerbMessiah Yeah, I figured. After a rewatch I quickly realized it was just... I think, at least, in essence, abusing dash cancels of some type to get more consistent speed from slide jumping, at a basic level.
@@HerbMessiah Ahh, alright. So it's not something that gives particularly insane mobility options, just very useful defensive options with some movement on top.
wait, if this still works, you can use the free movement slide trick with the rocket launcher and use this same weapon for jumping and you would be god
So if I'm understanding this correctly an FDJ is just an SSJ with dash storage? Is it still possible to do an SSJ while you have stored dash frames and is it still possible to FDJ without those stored frames? I'm having trouble understanding if I've even pulled off either tech
before the bhopping mechanic, this was the tool you have to use for the 1-1 run, sadly nowadays it is practically obsolete for speedrunning. Still have a niche usage for skilful player, however.
honestly try just dashing into a slide and use some explosives while sliding. That's probably the easiest to see method of DS. After I did that things made more sense.
