Something important about Gabriel railcoining is that, in my testing, I've found that the technique becomes extremely reliable if you jump after throwing the first coin. In my many, many gabriel runs, I found that, so long as I could get in position to 4x rail coin him, jumping after the first time would result in maximum damage 100% of the time. Another way of lining up a coin punch is in a slide and looking straight up, you will meet the coin on its trajectory, and can punch several in a row(The timing for hitting more then 2 in a row is a little tricky). Not as useful compared to the quick coin punches from back walk and you need a stretch to slide on since it takes about 2 secs for the coins to meet your slide(dash slide can keep you safe during it), but whipping around and shooting your punched coins in the slide looks kinda cool.

I swear, every update, Hakita finds a way to either invalidate a part of this guide or add more and more to it. Case in point: the SRS Cannonball explosion from Wait of the World and more recently, the Sharpshooter Revolver in Back to The Cyber Grind. It'll be awesome when there's a definitive coin guide and won't need to worry about being outdated in some variety. Glad that most of the advice can still hold up though! ~~Oh and the Ferryman Skip~~ I mean what I didn't know this video came out ages before Act 2 was completed hahahaha couldn't be me
something i discovered today while fighting v2 in greed is that coins are absolutely the way to go against v2. it sounds counter-intuitive since he can shoot your coins at you but when he shoots a coin, wether it is yours or his, it pauses in air for a bit so if anything him shooting your coins at you makes it even easier to shoot your coins at him. plus while he iis shooting your coin he cant be doing any of his other bullshit so by tossing a coin you essentially interupt his attacks immediately. shooting his coins at him is still tricky though since his coins aren't as predictable on where they will be as your coins
"Foolish machine, you dare challenge, I, Minos the great-!" V1: *Ding* Thanks for the guide dude. After practicing with no enemies, I've been taking the coin toss to the Grid and practicing on Lenient level enemies. Gotta say, my aim has been improving a lot. Now if I can just improve my timing with parrying my shotgun shots...
sometimes I just come back and watch this video, for absolutely no reason at all. I just really like the mechanics in this game, and the way that Herb explains them, as well as the tech that they allow you to do, is just chef's kiss. Keep up the good work!
I am a HUGE advocate for Alt Marksman. Splitshots are REALLY great, but I think they are overstated. They are great in some situations, but piercing shots are also great in their own right in other situations, and I think it gets a pretty unfair and bad rap. It's just as satisfying and gets you a TON more damage on single targets compared to normal Marksman. Splitshots on the other hand are great for when AOE is't quite cut out for what you want to do because it would either take too long to set one up (shooting Grenades), your Railgun is down (so you can't use Mal), or if things are too far away (Such as faraway Strays or Soldiers) or too close and you can't make any distance right now (varies, rare situation, but can happen). Do yourself a favor and experiment with both! Neither is great to have 100% of the time, so in the case of the Cybergrind figure out how you want to deal with certain situations and whether or not splitshots or Alt is better for which situations. In the case of the campaign, you don't have to worry about that so much because you can decide on your loadout before each level. :D
i'd like to tell about some stuff that i found and you didn't mention/didn't know: 1. alt revolver's shot kinda penetrates enemies but don't really hits nor deals damage enemies that are behind. although that "fake penetration" can actually hit coins and become a real shot. you can do same stuff with it as railcannon's penetrating shots. you can even make headshots combo with it dealing 8.5 (if i'm not mistaken) with only a coin and an uncharged shot. 2. you haven't mention the thing that you need to have the coin a bit higher than the enemy in order to make it hit the head. it's hard to explain but alt revolver's ricochets must be able to "see" enemy's weakpoint to properly hit them and deal headshot damage (think of it like it's streetcleaner's instakill weakpoint). so basically the data at 6:32 is kinda incorrect. i'm sure the fact that alt revolver deals less damage on ricocheting into weakpoints than default revolver seems weird to everyone. 3. killing malicious faces with charging their beam attacks back at them with coins is actually a legit and really useful strat even though it needs good amount of practice. it always kills malicious face in one shot even if it's not it's own beam. i'd recommend to do that in mid-air because it's more safe and forgivable for mistakes (though it's also a bit harder to pull off). you can also use this strat to redirect their beams to the enemies but that won't instakill them so it's much easier and reliable to just bait MaFs to shoot groups of enemies. anyway thanks for your guides, you really do a lot for the ultrakill's community

thank you SO much for this video, it's the most comprehensive cointrick video i've found anywhere and singlehandedly got me from a rank to p rank on like, the last five levels i've attempted.
the silly little coins in my pockets
I love chaining the penny with the care shot, it's just beautiful
Came to learn how to do the thing at the end, learned everything else instead. By Gabriel there’s a lot you can do with the coin.
amazing guide, i really wasn't expecting so much info on the coins :)
Herb, I love your videos.
Thanks man!
i might be picking up the game and honestly this blew my mind, im definitely changing the might into a 100% guarantee that im playing this
And i thought i was good with the coin cuz i can headshot enemies at the other side of the map, really nice guide btw
i love how everything blends with eachother and the limits are literally ur imagination i love it i love ultrakill
quality content for Ultrakill player :>
9:47 V2 with that Big Floppy
this can be very helpful, if i am able to ever hit the coin in all the actions and chaos, that is
(You) kept us waiting huh? Well worth the wait buddy.
Also RIP nightmare V2 when the next patch comes.
~~Oh and the Ferryman Skip~~ I mean what I didn't know this video came out ages before Act 2 was completed hahahaha couldn't be me
the word coin has stopped carrying meaning to me...
Fantastic video
I know I'm a week late but is there any possible way I could get my hands on a standalone clip of that dancing V1
something i discovered today while fighting v2 in greed is that coins are absolutely the way to go against v2. it sounds counter-intuitive since he can shoot your coins at you but when he shoots a coin, wether it is yours or his, it pauses in air for a bit so if anything him shooting your coins at you makes it even easier to shoot your coins at him. plus while he iis shooting your coin he cant be doing any of his other bullshit so by tossing a coin you essentially interupt his attacks immediately. shooting his coins at him is still tricky though since his coins aren't as predictable on where they will be as your coins
ultrakill is the kind of game that the skill ceiling is infinite yet it's fun to get good
im proud of the ultrakill community
they're making guides about a bullet > coin mechanic
im so proud
I will try in real life
18 minutes to learn about a single mechanic, i love it
"Foolish machine, you dare challenge, I, Minos the great-!"
V1: *Ding*
Thanks for the guide dude.
After practicing with no enemies, I've been taking the coin toss to the Grid and practicing on Lenient level enemies. Gotta say, my aim has been improving a lot.
Now if I can just improve my timing with parrying my shotgun shots...
I rarely used the coin because I barely understood how it works, but this video was very useful, and now I know how vital it is to use coins.
"ultrakill has no skill ceiling you just shoot stuff". My brother in arms, it took 20 minutes to explain ONE mechanic
my brother in arms, that's a strawman
I am never going to do any of these but it's nice to think I can at least try! Thanks!
anybody looking at this after the wrath & heresy update, the coin has a limit on how far it’ll hit shotgun cores now!
sometimes I just come back and watch this video, for absolutely no reason at all. I just really like the mechanics in this game, and the way that Herb explains them, as well as the tech that they allow you to do, is just chef's kiss. Keep up the good work!
I always wondered if they 3d print those coins inside thyselves
Most likely, the coins are made from the iron in the blood that V1 absorbs.
Love the Dirty Harry reference at the start

i'd like to tell about some stuff that i found and you didn't mention/didn't know:
1. alt revolver's shot kinda penetrates enemies but don't really hits nor deals damage enemies that are behind. although that "fake penetration" can actually hit coins and become a real shot. you can do same stuff with it as railcannon's penetrating shots. you can even make headshots combo with it dealing 8.5 (if i'm not mistaken) with only a coin and an uncharged shot.
2. you haven't mention the thing that you need to have the coin a bit higher than the enemy in order to make it hit the head. it's hard to explain but alt revolver's ricochets must be able to "see" enemy's weakpoint to properly hit them and deal headshot damage (think of it like it's streetcleaner's instakill weakpoint). so basically the data at 6:32 is kinda incorrect. i'm sure the fact that alt revolver deals less damage on ricocheting into weakpoints than default revolver seems weird to everyone.
3. killing malicious faces with charging their beam attacks back at them with coins is actually a legit and really useful strat even though it needs good amount of practice. it always kills malicious face in one shot even if it's not it's own beam. i'd recommend to do that in mid-air because it's more safe and forgivable for mistakes (though it's also a bit harder to pull off). you can also use this strat to redirect their beams to the enemies but that won't instakill them so it's much easier and reliable to just bait MaFs to shoot groups of enemies.
anyway thanks for your guides, you really do a lot for the ultrakill's community
