I may seem obvious to most folks but for the sake of instruction he should really be informing people to turn off the water main to the home.

lol great point. as an electrician I should have known better to shut off the water main. guess what, I received a fire hydrant like shower. my step daughter was looking for her phone so she could record it and post it on facebook and you tube. the video was very helpful and I fixed the problem. than you for making the video Terry. sincerely.... The Wet Bandit lol

VERY GOOD POINT!!! I like to fix things on my own. And i have this problem right now(leaking faucet). I would like to think that i have good common sense. But I know absolutley nothing about plumbing. If i dont know how to do something i always youtube it. I can follow directions very well. BUT IF I DID NOT READ YOUR REPLY I WOULD NOT HAVE SHUT THE MAIN OFF. Just being honest. THANKS Hiroshi Bell!

Chloe G boys arent born knowing how to repair/build things. You could look it up on youtube to get a visual, or go to your water companys website. Often they will have a video showing you how to turn off the main water to the house because you may need to do that in an emergency. Also, you would have their phone number nearby... juuuust in case :D

I have to thank you for this video. The dripping in the tub got on my nerves, but I was reluctant to have someone look at it because I had no idea how much it would cost. And it involved water! I watched this video, took the piece to Home Depot, and I did the entire thing in under 15 minutes! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Thank you so much for your instructional video. After researching a few videos of what could be done to repair my long time leaking shower faucet, I had the confidence to attempt this repair myself. I also spoke with a couple of colleagues for added advice. One colleague supported me, the other said I should call a professional before I made the problem worse. I listened to him for a couple of minutes but ultimately it motivated me to fix this leak myself. SUCCESS. With your simple instructions and guidance, I was able to accomplish everything you showed in your video. I am so proud of myself and I'm sure I save at least $200.00. Thank you for giving me the confidence to do a home repair, I know that other women can do this too!

Thanks Terry. I found the part at Home Deport and it took me 10 minutes to fix my leaking faucet. The part name is MOEN 1225 it is $19. The white tool comes with the cartridge and you dont even need it, just remove the pin and pull the cartridge out.

Oh and anyone reading this that's your first time like me replacing this,it took me about 20minutes total so someone familiar to this would be about 5 minutes max! That's what it will take me next time 🙂thanks again

    Few things:
    1) turn the water off to the faucet from your pipes, you may need to turn off water to the house. To check turn off valves and try to run water.
    2) if you don't have "the tool", you can also use needle nose pliers and jam your hand in them to keep them open.
    3) make sure the plastic prongs are left and right. Otherwise it won't come out. (usually a 90 degree turn, it will keep spinning unlike a screw). Then pull it out with a vise grip (or similar).

Great Video Thanks!! If you put the new part in upside down hot will be cold and vis-versa. Also home depot in Canada gave me the part for FREE!!! This part was Moen 1225 (for knobs that pull out and then turn. They also have part 1222 which is for faucets that dont pull out just turn. I assume Moen supplies home depot with them as part of lifetime warranty.

Terry Thanks for the Great Video. My same exact faucet. I was heading to Lowe's preparing to replace it, but it looks like all i have to do is to do what you did. I installed a new tankless water heater and had to re route the lines. Unfortunately I did not flush the system first and ended up with a bunch of solder thought the system and it jammed in the tub faucet, not letting me shut off the water. so, of course i hit it closed with my palm and tore the seal. lesson learned

Thank you so much!!! You just saved me over a $100 prolly more like 200 where I live plus days of waiting for them to come out..where I live plumbing companies turn this simple basic job into a career!!! wanted $50 to come out and look then 75 to $130 an hour for labor plus parts☹️ 😡 the hell with that I spent $50 for the new tube plus got grease and a special tool to get the old one out because the one in the new pack wouldn't get the old one out and 2trips to my hardware store.it's so hard to find an easy no none sense person like my dad used to do at his handyman business just go out look yeah it's a simple fix,I do it for $50 plus parts be right back type of deal,go figure why he was so successful at his business..Thanks again!👍👍👍👍👍👍

the tool unfortunately comes with the valve.... you'd think it comes the other way, but no.... so you need to figure out which valve it is... so you need to buy a new kit, (probably a few of them) and test which one fits, then go back and return the rest....

Followed instructions on the tool to remove it and it wouldn't budge. Broke the plastic piece that fits on the end trying to get it loose. Tool is a waste of money. Had to put a wood screw into the soft part to get it out. Slides right out like a rusted differential drain plug just screws right out... without any effort.

Get some CLR and let it sit for a while. Once the parts are out scrub it good with the CLR again. Water creates a lot of corrosion and if you don't clean it out so everything is smooth your reinstall will chew up the cartridges o-rings and you'll have to do the job again.
