    AUGUST 2023 UPDATE: Everything mentioned in the video will also apply to the Osmo Action 4.

    Excellent video - there's a bit of information in here which you don't highlight, but having played around with the camera, I think is important for potential buyers to know.
    You say that you try to go for ISO 100 wherever you can but you would be prepared to go up to 400. This is absolutely spot on.
    In my tests, for anyone looking for decent quality footage without excessive grain, this is actually the usable range. Above 400 it starts to get grainy and soft very very quickly.
    Within that range, the results are remarkably good for such a tiny piece of gear. But there's a reason that all the UA-cam reviews of this cam feature footage in VERY bright conditions.
    Not a criticism of the camera at all, but something that I think is important to be aware of.

    Great video however if you are shooting cinematic type of videos, changing your shutter speed will not give you the best look. The 180 rule keeping your shutter open for twice as long as the frame rate of your video (24fps - 1/50) needs to be applied to get this. Best thing to do is apply ND filters so you don't constantly modify your shutter speed to get the best exposure value.

    • @Romafedorov
      @Romafedorov  Рік тому +6

      What if you don't have any ND filters? Not everyone uses ND filters. Furthermore, putting ND filters on the camera and setting the shutter speed to double the frame rate will reduce Rocksteady performance, making the footage unusable.

    • @MannyRataul
      @MannyRataul Рік тому +2

      @@Romafedorov yeah of course without ND filters this is your only alternative but you will not get the best cinematic video is all I was stating. If you intend to use your DJI as an actual action camera than cinematic settings do no matter

      Just to join in this brief convo:
      Roma never made any mention of cinematic in his title or description.
      Manny was only adding information in case someone DID want a cinematic (film-like) style.
      In my filming I always aim for 24fps/50ss - that's the aesthetic I like and chase. Got the Osmo Action 3 a few days ago and part of my use-case is as a B-Cam for a project which I need to travel for, so hoping to avoid bringing a second full-size camera. In my tests, static 24/50 on this camera is fine. But even simply walking, with Rocksteady on, Roma is absolutely right, it's unusable. I think I will need to let go of my usual approach (if moving) and go for higher framerates and shorter shutter speeds.
      This is an aspect of this camera which is not really talked about and I think it's good it's been raised here (albeit inadvertently).
      Similarly, the fact that Roma stated that he would keep ISO between 100 and 400 - actually, for this I think I'll make a separate comment.
      Great video. Great little camera as long as you are willing to adapt to it where necessary.

    I like my osmo action 3. But for true proper exposure using the 180 rule is impossible with this camera if you want to use stabilization. You can’t use filters at all. I really don’t feel like spending a minimum of $100 for a gimbal to use for something they should have incorporated to begin with. Any low light with rocksteady on renders the footage useless. They didn’t fix that with he osmo 4 either. The pocket 3 works great for this though.

    Thank you! What do you recommend 2.7K/60 FPS or 4K/25 FPS for motovlogging in normal speeds?

    sir what is the difference between dji manual exposure vs go pro exposure lock which is better

    • @Romafedorov
      @Romafedorov  Рік тому

      Neither is better; they are simply different modes of exposure. Personally, I prefer the method that GoPro uses on their cameras.

    Hi. Do you know if the manual settings are preserved after switching off the camera? At the moment I record with an ND4 filter on the GoPro 10 for exactly that reason. You can start shooting video with the manual shutterspeed setting in place. I would like to switch to the Osmo Action 4 though. There is no point in switching if the settings are not preserved since there is no time to set the exposure for every shot. Thanks!

    • @Romafedorov
      @Romafedorov  10 місяців тому +1

      The settings are preserved after switching off the camera. You can also create custom presets with your favorite settings.

    I have a queston, in the videos your'e shutter speeds are very high. How does that work when I want to record in 24fps cinematic?

    • @Romafedorov
      @Romafedorov  Рік тому

      The shutter speed doesn't have to be low in order to be cinematic haha

      @@Romafedorov Haha!! Great response! Looked a little dark to me as well in the opening montage, but I'm also aware that my TV/PC setup is a little dark, so I suspected that was the culprit. If I watched this on my monitor (instead of TV) I bet it would be just right.
      But even if it wasn't, cinematography and photography is an ART. There is room for the creator to have their own preferred style and aesthetics. If it DID happen that you preferred a slightly darker tone than me, so what? I thought this was a great video which VERY clearly teaches someone how to expose on the Action 3. Nice job :)
