    I don’t know or care what caused me to get fat and have health problems associated with inflammation. But i do know and care about how i cured it - getting off all medications, quitting caffeine (which messed up my sleep) and going all-natural and keto, mostly fish at first, and then adding grass fed beef, farmer’s market dairy and homemade fermented vegetables. Lost 35 lbs in 7 months without any extra exercise (but i do a lot of walking and always have). Lots of omega 3 from fish.

    I did so many different tests and trials with my insulin. I performed this one specific basic test about 5 times. I lost weight when I stopped insulin, immediately lost. I gained weight when I started taking it again. I changed nothing in my diet while doing this specific test. I was gaining almost 1 pound a day taking my insulin. I was losing 1-1.5 pounds a day almost immediately after stopping it. I also started getting lower blood sugar readings by the second week of not taking it. Lower than when I was actually taking the insulin. Right after an injection, my blood sugar would spike pretty high, then it would drop only a couple points lower than before I took it. I have also been on several different types. I used to do keto and it worked for a short period, then stopped working. I have been carnivore for awhile now and its the best thing I could have ever done. I just wish I knew about it in my younger years.
    I am hoping to reach others and give inspiration with my youtube channel.

      Yes, I explain this in the presentation. When taking insulin externally, you can definitely manipulate how much is stored. That is what the Type 1 studies I show in the presentation say. But a normal functioning pancreas will not make these kinds of mistakes. It will always put out the right amount of insulin for the body's current needs. What you describe is diabulimia and not recommended for anyone.

      That might be possible because your body is dumping glucose into urine to get rid of it without your insulin. Because insulin is going to help store it when your glucose levels get high. It is a survival mechanism by the body to get rid of the excess glucose through urine. Many times the first symptoms a type one diabetic is extreme weight loss coupled with fatigue.

So a year ago I went carnivore and gained back some muscle but 10-15 pounds as well although my belt stayed on the same loop, so that weight gain was muscle. I just had my yearly physical and my BMI was at 26, almost obese which I think is nonsense because if I take of my shirt there is no way I look even close to being obese. But on carnivore I have been eating too much protein and if I'm not exercising enough for that increased amount it gets stored as fat. So I'm doing some tweaking.

    The more you lose weight the less calories you burn because you don't weigh as much. It takes more energy to move a larger body that is why it is easier for a 250 pound person to drop weight than a person like me weighing 124lbs . Then there is the percentage of muscle mass. The more muscle you have the more calleries you burn and the more insulin sensative you are. That is why exercising is so very important for naturally controlling insulin.

    I'm surprised he didn't mention glucagon? Or I missed it? Ketogenic and fasting states use fat for ketones, and the backbone of triglycerides to create blood sugar from glucagon being raised when blood sugar levels drop. Since glucagon levels tend to be higher in those who eat very low carb or not a ton of protein or don't raise blood sugar with exogenous glucose, insulin secretions are inhibited by glucagon, thereby reduces fasting insulin the longer or more chronic glucagon spikes. (Likely from fasted exercise.) It's also more difficult to store glycogen from blood glucose while glucagon is raised.
    Though I do recommend spiking insulin at least once a day for the purpose of retaining electrolytes on a ketogenic diet. You could do this with one big bolus of protein in one of your meals or your only meal of the day, where a subsequent meal is less in portion and not enough protein (or leucine) to trigger insulin. Furthermore, you could have up to your 30g net daily carbs with the one meal you eat that will spike insulin more certainly.

      @craigemmerich 2 дні тому

      Thanks. Most keto and carnivore influencers and doctors believe that it is the elevated insulin that is causing you to get fat. But it is really you getting fat that is causing you insulin to rise. It is a distant difference because they then imply that you can't get fat from eating fat if you are keto or carnivore since fat has little effect on insulin. But that isn't true. We have people gaining weight all the time with that advice. And fat does effect insulin, more over 24 hours even if its less after a meal (first 2-3 hours after a meal) as I show in this presentation.

    thank you for the great presentation. I am reminded a bit about the P:E diet from Ted Naiman's book. Basically get to your desired/required level of protein and adjust the carbs or fat to suit your goals. Carbs come with some side effects you have to keep in mind.
    My question is, if choosing to do carnivore, what sources of meat are best and how do you adjust the fat content? I guess it would be easy if you just ate ground beef, but its harder with steak.

Less dietary fat for fat loss, more dietary fat for maintenance or gaining weight.

Now I went to a more food-based diet. Carnivore mostly eggs. ham, pork, sausage, hamburger. some butter. I never been a high fat person. I do not eat uber fat diet. I may eat 60 percent protein 40 percent fat because that is how a lot of the meats are if you eat them as cuts of meat and not just mush like hamburgers. This way of eating can be hard, but I do not believe I need to up my fat, at least not yet. I do have a lot of weight I need to lose and was under the impression that if you eat less fat, you should burn more. As protein is half the calories of fat and very filling. I hope this works because I am doing this in hopes of avoiding having to have weight loss surgery. So far the sugars are going better. Now to get the body smaller lol. Look into the role of this master hormone and then you will realize in some ways it's equal to and in some ways more important to focus upon than insulin...we focus on insulin though for one reason because it's easier to measure. Leptin however is essential to understand in how it works with insulin and its role in hypothalamus and brainstem and thus every aspect of hormone function and thereby effects all processes in the body.
    Like let me give you an example if you have a client with neuropathy symptoms where their case has led to disruptions and degeneration in the myelin sheaths, can you induce remyelination through their immune system and fix this in a few days with dietary changes focused on insulin and blood sugar? Nope. And I could give you thousands of other examples. The immune system has capacities to handle just about every health issue, however leptin levels and function has become severely disrupted in 98% of people and thus disrupted all other hormonal signaling.
    The pinnacle of what can be achieved as far as let food be your medicine is understanding how to work with leptin. Having said all that I have only found one practitioner who knows how to do all this.

    It is not insulin per se that makes one fat, Insulin itself is a hormone the body need to maintain several functions. But if one's body is forced to deal with too much glucose all the time then more insulin is produces to stimulate the cells to take in the glucose. At some point the cells are not reacting anymore to the current insulin levels in your body because they are already saturated with glucose. And so the body over tome has to produce more and more insulin to get the cells to store the glucose. That is how someone develops insulin resistance.

    • @craigemmerich
      @craigemmerich Місяць тому +1

      It’s actually more that the fat cells specifically become overstuffed and inflamed and reject insulin. You reverse this by shrinking your fat cells, which further promotes the idea of not overdoing fat on a keto or carnivore diet.

      The primary issue with high carb is that it displaces burning fat. The Randle cycle preferentially burns carbohydrates when eaten over fat thus displacing burning fat as a fuel. Cutting the carbs enables the body to oxidize more fat dust causing fat loss. The major secret behind Keto and Carnivore diets is their ability to drive satiety. Cutting out the carbs cuts out the hunger cycles, controls hunger and cravings and prioritizing protein stimulates GLP-1 driving more satiety..

      Then you are eating too much dietary fat. And proving the point of this presentation, that eating too much fat, even when insulin is very low, will make you gain body fat.

    I'm confusion I thought glucose causes your insulin to stay high much longer than fats and fat causes your insulin to go lower faster...???

    • @craigemmerich
      @craigemmerich 29 днів тому +1

      Glucose causes your insulin to go much higher in the short term. First 2-3 hours after ingesting it. Fat won't make it go that high, but the overall impact on insulin over 24 hours is still significant. Any fuel has to be stored and keep the blood in tight control.

    • @JasonBuckman
      @JasonBuckman 26 днів тому

      Sugar makes it go high. Fat makes it stay. Combining the two is a recipe for disaster.

      @@craigemmerichso its better to run a higher protein higher carb then a higher protein higher fat diet correct.
      It’s weird because when i was vegan for a decade, very high carb low fat and my fasting insulin was 2.3
      I went animal based and of course my fat went up and my fasting insulin did too.
      So im assuming fat is what drives insulin up. Would this be correct?

    • @craigemmerich

      @@Primetime_dads fat does effect insulin. But I think lower carb is better for health long term. So higher protein, low carb, then fat to satiety if not trying to lose weight.

      For cholesterol, watch these videos:
      m.ua-cam.com/video/jZu52duIqno/v-deo.html
      He shows how he manipulates his cholesterol based on how much fat he eats.
      If you really want to know your heart disease risk, look at CAC score. Calcium score is a cheap (usually $100) and easy test that measures the plaque buildup in your coronary arteries. The score given correlates to heart disease (and overall death risk) by orders of magnitude better than total cholesterol ever does. Total cholesterol is only a couple percent correlation in the statin companies own tests. CAC score of 1000 (vs. 0) correlates at 800% increase in death risk!!
      www.thefatemperor.com/blog/2016/8/10/repeat-after-me-calcification-score-blows-away-risk-factors-always?rq=cac
      Also watch this about statin drugs:
      ua-cam.com/video/yX1vBA9bLNk/v-deo.html
      And this at 22 minute mark especially about what causes heart disease:
      ua-cam.com/video/DpZIXWpN1og/v-deo.html
      Also watch this:
      thefatemperor.com/dave-feldman-with-shocking-nhanes-data-on-ldl-cholesterol-and-mortality/
      Statins raise risk of Osteoporosis by 400% because statins are vitamin K2 inhibitors.
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25655639/
      Also, statins raise risk of diabetes by 33%:
      drc.bmj.com/content/5/1/e000438
      The marker we look for is triglyceride to HDL ratio. You want it 2.0 or less, ideally 1.0 or less.
      We have some great info on cholesterol in our conference replay if you want to learn more here:

    I am lucky enough to make new fat cells, so my bloodwork always looked ok. But I was just bigger every year.
    Managed to get to 400 lbs before I went to a Keto diet, did that for 2 years.
    Now on 95% beef carnivore. The other 5% is bacon and ghee.
    Just eating too much, fast foods, junk foods. Cooking my own food and cutting added sugars/carbs in any form helped a lot.
    I lost down to 165, but I gained back to 200 by eating too much fat.
    I was lean carnivore, hardly any added fat. Shrimp, tuna and tilapia, plus beef.
    I tried high fat carnivore, where you limit your protein and use fat to replace calories.
    That didn't work so well in my case.
    I switched back to using small amounts of butter or ghee for flavor not as a food source.
