  • Trying to save the sheetmetal on this 2009 Chevy Impala. Replacing all the damaged sheetmetal would be best but it's not cost effective. #stoutcustom #bodywork #wrecked

Fantastic tutorial for anyone including a cash customer on what equipment, tools, parts and knowledge for customers who can't believe how much body and paint repairs cost today. It takes years of hands to know the right way even keeping sheet metal holes to a minimum & then kitty-hair to seal them as some skip this step.
But great work for fit & finish. I am old enough to remember when vehicles were not build to "Tupperware" standards and here we are. Too expensive for a 6 year old car with 82k on the dash and in front of you because mom, grandma backed up to far. Or worse yet, damage someone did at work or parking lot and drove off! The age of throw-a-way vehicles has been here for a while and we have to deal with them. Some things better, other design issues not so much. The broken fastener that is seen, you need one but sold in a bag of 10, dealer only. On back-order even because they are sold by color. I bet it seems like 2hrs digging for just that one, you are sure you have. Hey, found a bag in Oregon for $6.12 cents but it's $22.30 for overnight!
Thanks Jim! A professional that can't be less because it is right!

Thanks DK. Exactly the reason I like to show a lot of the work it takes to do some of the stuff I do. More work than most folks realize. As always thanks for watching!

@@StoutCustom Jim, it is a thinking man's game to attack the problem with a logical game plan, then execute the best way you can decide.
I can't tell you how many integral 4X4 transmissions, diff's or automatics I dug into even though I never seen one before. It is like the door hinges my son handed me with a pin kit. He has no idea left or right, too or bottom, plus he never took photos from his 86 Monte SS. I am sad as they don't learn, he just tells me to do it, don't show him why it works. He is 38 and I won't be around forever. Then he grabs my "SnapOn" & "Blue Point" air tools, brings the back not working but no oil during use, not even ATF! Take care, Stay safe. DK.
