Hi Martin. Thank you for watching and sharing the kind words. We greatly appreciate it. Glad this was what you were looking for and we hope it helps with your 2021 install. Stay safe!
Thank you for your video. Today I have installed This camera on my girlfriend’s Santa Fe thanks to you guys. Thanks to you I save myself $250 for installation that one shop quoted me 😁
Hi Alicja. Thank you so much for watching and sharing the kind words and how the video helped you. This is exactly why we made it and we're incredibly happy to hear it also saved you a good bit of money. We hope that you never have to rely on it and that you and your girlfriend have many safe miles ahead in the Santa Fe! Cheers!!
Great video. Very much helped me install my Vantrue E2 (front and rear dashcam). I would not have had the courage to pop off the covers and remove the weatherstripping without this video. But it was pretty easy to do and I am happy I did. One other thing I would add is that, when in the fuse box, and determining what fuse is ACC and what is not, and determining where a ground screw/bolt is, it is easier if you have a multimeter and use your multimeter to figure out which fuses are 'always on' and which 'ground' works. Thanks again for a great video.
Hi John. Thank you so much for watching and sharing. I believe you emailed us as well and I just replied (busy weekend). Applause to you for the DIY. We do these videos just for that reason, to empower those that normally wouldn't, to actually do. Gain the experience and save the money. 🙂. Agree 100% on the multimeter. That is your best friend when it comes to automotive wiring. We're glad to have been a part of your journey. We actually just installed (and created an episode on it last week) for a Vantrue cam. They're great! We hope you stay safe out there and never need the footage from your camera and continue to be a part of our journey. Cheers!
Thank you for watching. We greatly appreciate it. You're so right. Hate wiring as well but when done right, it makes the job that much better. Thanks for the kind words.
Hi Rob, congratulations on the Tuscon purchase. That's fantastic. What motivated you to pick the Tuscon? Glad to hear you have the same camera. We love ours and glad this episode will be of help for you. Stay safe out there!
Thanks so much it helped me a lot, but to everyone here start from the front, because the wire is too long and if you got some to hide, there is plenty of room to hide it in the back into the box you started opening first 😊
Hi KG. Thank you so much for watching and sharing the kind words. We really appreciate it. Glad to hear that it helped you a lot. Thank you for also sharing tips that helped you with your install. That's what the community is all about! Stay safe out there!
Never had dash cams before but I bought the exact same car a couple weeks ago and figured I should have them as a precaution. Got everything you suggested and it all works flawlessly, down to the scotch heavy duty fasteners. Thank you for making this way easier than it would’ve been!
Hi Ryan. Thank you very much for watching and sharing your journey and the kind words with us. That's great that everything worked flawlessly for you. We're still very happy with ours. We did discover however that the heavy duty fasteners didn't stay on that plastic in the heat. Something about that plastic that nothing adheres to it long term. We resolved that by taking the panel off and putting 2 tiny screws threw the fastener and into the panel. You can't even see them and the panel is easy enough to replace if we feel we need to do something differently down the road. Safe travels to you out there and we hope you stick along on our journey as we share more mods to our Santa Fe. Cheers!
Thank you for watching and sharing the feedback. We hope the rest of the video was helpful to you. Leaving that info out was by design. The fuses we chose may be different than what others want to use. I also felt from a liability protection (I shared in the comments, that if you're interested in knowing what fuses we tapped into, you can email us, which others have done), it's best that I leave that portion as general. Always a method to the madness as I like to say and we recognize that we're unable to meet everyone's needs all the time . We appreciate the support and we hope you stay safe out there!
Hi William. Thanks for watching and asking. We appreciate it. If you have a volt meter you can easily find which fuses to tap. You'll need one that has constant power and one that only has power with ignition. There are more than just 1 wire for those that will work but I avoid any that are part of the safety features like an airbag fuse. Hope that helps and congrats on your 23 Tuscon. That's awesome
This is excellent, thanks so much. I modified mine a bit by still using the cigarettes lighter but running the cable past the fuse box and neatly into the lighter 12v socket (which I never use). I don't have tie to figure out and test the fuses right now so this is great thanks.

Excellent video. Got the cam installed, but what fuses are people taping into to for the battery and acc hardwires? I'm unable to get the tap on the correct way at the acc fuse bottom row location as it hits into the wire connector. The fuse tap has to point downwards because the the hot side of the fuse is on the right when looking at the fuse box. What have people been tapping into for the battery and ACC lead wires?
Hi Ron. Thank you for watching and sharing the kind words. We've been away taking a break with family over the holidays and hope you had a nice one as well. We received your email and I just replied to it. Hope that helps. Take care.
It looks like your fuse tap is pointing upwards in the video. My Santa Fe power is on the left side of the fuse so my fuse tap needs to point down to properly protect the circuit. This makes the entire bottom row off limits due to the 3 connectors sticking out below the fuses., including the ACC fuse. I struggled to find options. I ended up with child lock for constant and rear AC for accessory.
@@wantsanewvehicle It shows in the video, if you follow the diagram on the car they used the a/c 7.5amp fuse for acc and door lock 20amp fuse for battery.

We just avoid tapping into any fuses that are safety related. Hope that helps.
Great instructional video. I have been dreading a similar install myself. I have a Viofo a129 front camer. I would recommend that you get a polarized filter for the front cam to get rid of the dash glare in the picture.
HI Kristjan, Thank you so much for watching and sharing the kind words. We greatly appreciate it. It's really not that bad of an install and we hope this helps you knock out your install. I believe ours came with a filter for it. I'll have to double check. The biggest problem we have it the crazy sticky velcro isn't staying up so we may have to come up with a more permanent solution. No idea what they made that cover out of but it could be used for so many things in life. LOL. Cheers!
Hi Robert. Thank you so much for watching and sharing the kind words from Belgium. We really appreciate that. That's great on your install. We hope your install goes just as smoothly as ours did. Stay safe out there!
@Spirit'ed Wrenchers Thank you for the really nice job on the video. Just wondering your thoughts...will that interconnect cable from the rear camera interfere with the airgbag/curtain deployment if they did deploy? Also, the same the hardwire kit and the pillar "A" airbag. I've seen several videos that suggest a concern and workaround specifically a method to avoid interferences on pillar "A",
Hi Dan, thank you for watching and sharing the kind words as well as asking. We really appreciate it. Your fear is a real one as the airbags are something that I absolutely want to avoid impeding from doing their job. I tend to spend extra time ensuring the wires are not on the side facing the passengers so they are out of the way. I do the same for dash airbags. Hope that helps. Stay safe out there!

@@SpiritedWrenchers Hello, thank you for posting this video, i have a 2022 Santa Fe as well and it would help if you can show me a picture of the fuse you tapped into, will email you, thanks.
@@edward9786 Hi Edward. Thank you for watching and reaching out to us. We greatly appreciate it. Hopefully the email and pic will help if you are planning on installing the same item. Cheers!
Great video. It inspired me to do more research and order a dashcam myself. I have a 2022 Sante Fe Calligraphy (2 wheel Drive) as well. I went with a Thinkware U1000. One question though. How did you get it to stick to the black plastic behind the mirror. I used the Scotch 3x better than Velcro and it pops right off. I even tried JB Weld Plastic bonder and thatdoesnt stick either.
Hi David, Thank you for watching and sharing the kind words as well as your story. Congrats on your Santa Fe. That plastic panel is made up of some out of this world plastic because nothing we tried stuck any longer than a couple of days. Because the plastic piece comes out and would be relative easy to replace, I used 2 very small screws and screwed them into the industrial hook and loop piece on the plastic panel. Because the hooks are larger on these, the small screws don't interfere with their functionality and it holds up the radar just fine. Hope that helps. If you need a pic, feel free to email us @ spiritedwrenchers@gmail.com . Stay safe out there!
Great video, going to tackle this on our 22 Santa Fe Calli. Question about weatherstripping. Rear window seemed to be glued, other areas you didn't show how to remove or reinstall. Are there pins/plugs holding it in place, or friction fit? If I end up with gaps my OCD wife will shoot me for allowing new wind noise. Thanks much.
Hi Philsmall, thanks for watching, sharing the kind words and asking. We really appreciate it. Hope you love your Calli as much as we do ours. I can understand about the OCD wife. LOL. Dana is the same way and I can't lie, I am too when it comes to these things. Details matter. There is plenty of glue within the weather seal. Once you push it back on, you'll be just fine. As a matter of fact, you want to be careful not to get any of it on your headliner as it will be hell to get it out. We've not had any issues with ours since the installation. Hope that helps and good luck on your install!
Art, you used a fishing tool for the feeding the rear video cable through the rubber wire management piece, do you have a link for that tool? Enjoyed the video. Dave
Hi David. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the episode. The tool I used was something that I had left over from who knows what many years ago and I just kept it in my toolbox thinking I may need it again at some point and it's turned into a very helpful little item with wiring and audio installs. I tried to find something similar on Amazon or ebay and just couldn't. You could use thicker soldering wire or a very long zip tie with similar results. You just need it to be flexible enough to bend. Wish I could provide something more helpful for you. Cheers!
Hi stephena. Thanks for watching. For the vehicle, it should be the same. I'm not familiar with the A229 but I'm sure they are very similar, maybe just different features. The hardwiring will be the same. Good luck with your install and stay safe out there!
Hey French. Thanks for watching. We greatly appreciate it. We're definitely happy with it so far and the camera quality was a big factor on my decision of this unit.
I have mine mounted to the black box in my Ranger. if the 2 sided tape fails, replace it with 3M VHB tape. I may, or may not, have broken a window trying to remove an old dash cam (mounted with 3m vhb tape) mounted on the windshield.
LOL. Thanks for watching Byron. We greatly appreciate it. That's a great tip. I have seen that tape but I'll have to look out for it now to use in those "no other choice" times. Sounds like it has quite a hold. LOL.
@@grnxnam it was a couple of weeks before the VHB failed, and it only fell after sitting in the sun for a few hours. I'm thinking epoxy and self-tapping screws because whatever Hyundai made that plastic out of should be used for more than trim pieces 🤯
Hi. Thank you for watching and asking. We appreciate it. I slipped the wire just into the A pillar and it held it there on it's own when it's in place. I always avoid messing with safety equipment in any way to ensure nothing is compromised. Hope that helps.
It sure didn't help! If worried about running wires UNDER an airbag, then do you have any idea what running a wire over an air bag can do when it inflates? It can cut it the air bag releasing air pressure inside before it does it's job. And if afraid, pull a fuse, but really, just moving a bag in a pillar out a a half inch DOES NOTHING TO HURT THE BAG OR INFLATE IT.
Hi Dr. Virus01. Thanks for watching and asking. We really appreciate it. Using the tap kits, it was easier to just tap into a known working fuse and leave those that are open as they were intended from the factory. They may be an option, but I personally have never used one before. Hope that helps. Cheers!
Great video super helpful! Just one question about the rear cam… When it’s raining or snowing do you find that upper placement is always dirty and blocking the image as the wiper does not reach that far up? Or is the image still ok when dirty?
Hi Rob, Thank you very much for watching and sharing the kind words. We appreciate it. It's a good question, and truthfully, it will likely keep it from being 100% clear because the glass is dirty, but it shouldn't eliminate the ability to see if something happens worth recording. Hope that helps. Stay safe out there!
Thank you very much for the informative video. Installed quickly and neatly. Installing electrical accessories may interfere with existing high-performance equipment in the vehicle. I am thinking of cameras and radar equipment for lane keeping and other functions. To what extent does the Viofo dashcam you installed adversely affect this equipment? My car dealer warns of possible interferences. Thank you in advance for your reply and best regards from the Netherlands.
Hi Willem. Thanks for watching and sharing the kind words all the way from the Netherlands. That's so cool. You pose a great question. Dealers always warn of adding things to vehicles for a number of reasons but I'm happy to say that there is no reason a dash cam should interfere with normal operation and performace unless it's wired in a way where it does. These are simply cameras with a shock sensor in them and powered through components that are non-related to safety or high performance. Hope that helps and we hope you stick around for more episodes. Cheers!
@@SpiritedWrenchers Thank you for your quick response. I was particularly concerned about the interference that could be caused by the Dash Cam Hardwire Kit. I'm glad to hear you didn't have any problems with that. Good luck with your videos.
Hi there. Thanks for watching and asking. We appreciate it. Is it more work to have a 2nd channel (rear camera) sure but I our opinion it's worth it in the case of a rear end collision. The rear cameras come with an adhesive sticky pad. Like 3M tape. It comes off easily if you have to take if off glass.
Hi David, Thanks for watching and sharing. We greatly appreciate that. wd-40 is certainly a great lubricant. My only point of caution on using for feeding wires and using it would be around light colored fabrics as it may stain it. Just something to keep in mind for headliners or seats. Cheers!
The kit comes with 5amp fuses yet you connected them to 7.5 and 20amp connections on the fusebox, I did the same and the 5amp fuse on the battery 20amp circuit instantly fried the moment the door locks engaged. I dont think this is correct.
@Z33Garage thanks for watching and sharing. Several things could cause a fuse to blow, and I would trace all the wiring to ensure there are no cuts anywhere. We've had zero issues with ours. Hope you're able to figure out the cause.
Hi Dana. Thank you for watching and asking. We tend to choose fuses that are accessory related for the most part. We stay away from any safety related features or critical device fuses in the event there is a failure, it doesn't stop the car from operating. Ideally you can use a voltage meter to test the fuse when the car is running and turned off to identify which one has the power at the right times. We do not run ours 24/7 so I want something that turns off with the key, i.e. radio, windows, accessories. Hope that helps. Stay safe out there.
Hi. Thank you for watching and asking. To be honest, we're unsure on how the dealers see these modifications for warranty. I would imagine that any modification that you do to a car, that could ultimately cause a problem, the dealer could have a reason to blame the problem on that particular modification whether it caused it or not.
I'm not sure if this will answer your question, but the wiring kit uses the existing fuse and requires an additional fuse to function. We purchased the kit and additional fuses to power it all. Hope this helps; take care and stay safe!
Hi DingoManKam. Thank you for watching and asking. We appreciate it. We're not familiar with that model but everything we did is pretty common on all makes/models. Even the wiring and these dashcams can work in any thing. Hope that helps. Good luck and stay safe out there.
Thank you for watching and sharing. We greatly appreciate it. It's been cool meeting owners around the world and how the differences are with trims in different countries. Stay safe out there.
I seriously think it would’ve been a lot easier to run the rear camera wire starting from the front cam first. Just my opinion. Also I’m not a fan of the camera attached to the plastic because it makes the distance greater from the camera to the windshield which increase glare and reflection caught in the video. Again, just my opinion.
Hi JSC. Thank you for watching and commenting. We really appreciate it. That would be really cool if that were possible. Certainly would be another favorable item to help in rear end crashes.
Holy, managing wiring is such a pain. You have to hurt the car so much. I thought that would be a bit simpler. I bought a two-channel dash and thinking to return it and exchange for a single channel. (less effort).
Hi Caio Primo, I couldn't agree with you more, wiring is definitely a pain regardless if it's 1 wire or 100. LOL. This one was incredibly easy though and didn't hurt the cars interior at all. Just have to take your time to ensure nothing gets broken and it's really easy job. Nevertheless, we wish you success if you decide to keep the 2 channel or going with a single channel. Cheers
Hi Omer. Thanks for watching and asking. We really appreciate it. This was actually a choice of Dana's because of how far down the unit would have gone on the windshield. She felt it would obstruct her field of view. Certainly a matter of choice for everyone installing a dashcam. It still has a great field of view thankfully. Cheers!

@@SpiritedWrenchers Thanks for the advise.

Great job
Hi tro, thank you for watching and sharing the kind words. We greatly appreciate it!
@SpiritedWrenchers thanks, that just added project to the honey-do list. Yes, love the Calli!
Cheers!
I have a 2024 Tuscon and want to install the Viofo A229 Pro 2 channel...is this the same install for me??
Hi stephena. Thanks for watching. For the vehicle, it should be the same. I'm not familiar with the A229 but I'm sure they are very similar, maybe just different features. The hardwiring will be the same. Good luck with your install and stay safe out there!
@@SpiritedWrenchers which fuse slots did you select to piggyback? I don't think the video specified?!? Thanks for your assistance 👍🏾
The camera quality is excellent on that thing!!! I’d say it’s worth the upgrade
LOL.
So... what happens when VHB doesn't hold it? 🤣
Install the mount without the camera. Wait a few days before adding the camera.
@@grnxnam it was a couple of weeks before the VHB failed, and it only fell after sitting in the sun for a few hours. I'm thinking epoxy and self-tapping screws because whatever Hyundai made that plastic out of should be used for more than trim pieces 🤯
Very nice, I was thinking of hard wiring a dash cam.
Hi cdchannel. Thanks for watching and sharing. We appreciate it. It's certainly the way to go for a clean and long term use.
Did you run the wire behind the airbag in the A pillar and if so, how did you do it?
Any reason why you didn’t you use the empty fuse slots??
Hi Dr. Virus01. Thanks for watching and asking. We really appreciate it. Using the tap kits, it was easier to just tap into a known working fuse and leave those that are open as they were intended from the factory. They may be an option, but I personally have never used one before. Hope that helps. Cheers!
Great video super helpful! Just one question about the rear cam…
When it’s raining or snowing do you find that upper placement is always dirty and blocking the image as the wiper does not reach that far up? Or is the image still ok when dirty?
Hi Rob, Thank you very much for watching and sharing the kind words. We appreciate it. It's a good question, and truthfully, it will likely keep it from being 100% clear because the glass is dirty, but it shouldn't eliminate the ability to see if something happens worth recording. Hope that helps. Stay safe out there!
Very informative
Hi Karan. Thank you very much for watching, sharing the kind words and subscribing. We greatly appreciate it.
I have a ‘22 Santa Fe as well. Does anyone have a photo or video of where they tapped into the fuse panel? It would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Chooch. Thank you for watching. We appreciate it. Send us an email and I'll reply with a photo our of fuse panel.
Cheers!

Thank you for your quick response. I was particularly concerned about the interference that could be caused by the Dash Cam Hardwire Kit. I'm glad to hear you didn't have any problems with that. Good luck with your videos.
@@willemalias5663 Our pleasure. Yeap, no interference at all. It's been working fantastic for us so far. Thank you once again for the kind words!
The rear camera seems daunting, do you use any adhesives when putting it back or you just put it back and there's no problem?
@SpiritedWrenchers I'm sorry I meant in regards to the weather seals along the doors, is there any loss of protection?
When ever running wires in tight spaces, spray some WD-40 on it.
It will remove any friction, making the wires slide 100% easier with no problem.
Hi David, Thanks for watching and sharing. We greatly appreciate that. wd-40 is certainly a great lubricant. My only point of caution on using for feeding wires and using it would be around light colored fabrics as it may stain it. Just something to keep in mind for headliners or seats. Cheers!
Hi, great clean tutorial video for installation.
Please, where did you get the fishing wire tool, didn't see it in your description.
Thank you 🙏
The kit comes with 5amp fuses yet you connected them to 7.5 and 20amp connections on the fusebox, I did the same and the 5amp fuse on the battery 20amp circuit instantly fried the moment the door locks engaged. I dont think this is correct.
@Z33Garage thanks for watching and sharing. Several things could cause a fuse to blow, and I would trace all the wiring to ensure there are no cuts anywhere. We've had zero issues with ours. Hope you're able to figure out the cause.
How do you know what fuse to use?
Is warranty for car valid after such install?
Hi. Thank you for watching and asking. To be honest, we're unsure on how the dealers see these modifications for warranty. I would imagine that any modification that you do to a car, that could ultimately cause a problem, the dealer could have a reason to blame the problem on that particular modification whether it caused it or not.
I'm wonder to know that I can using the spare fume unit for the dash cam or I have to find the fuse using in the exciting facility ?
I'm not sure if this will answer your question, but the wiring kit uses the existing fuse and requires an additional fuse to function. We purchased the kit and additional fuses to power it all. Hope this helps; take care and stay safe!
will this work for a 2019 hyundai kona ?
Hi DingoManKam. Thank you for watching and asking. We appreciate it. We're not familiar with that model but everything we did is pretty common on all makes/models. Even the wiring and these dashcams can work in any thing. Hope that helps. Good luck and stay safe out there.

@@SpiritedWrenchers thank you!
Hi Boa. Thanks for watching and sharing your opinions. We appreciate it.
those cars have built in cameras in the rear, they should just let you pop in a SD card and start recording.
Cheers
Why didn't you just attach the camera directly to windshield? You could have achieved a better field of view.
Hi Omer. Thanks for watching and asking. We really appreciate it. This was actually a choice of Dana's because of how far down the unit would have gone on the windshield. She felt it would obstruct her field of view. Certainly a matter of choice for everyone installing a dashcam. It still has a great field of view thankfully. Cheers!
