    Super helpful video.
    Why so much emphasis on putting the original fuse in the bottom slot when we are putting another 10A fuse in top slot? Does it matter?

    Great video. Helped me finally hard wire my wife’s dash cam. Good point about the rear camera. I farted around with running the cable through the wire thing on the rear lift gate before and it’s a bitch, and that’s my work vehicle. So I’ll have fun fishing that out when i return it :(

    My dashcam came with fuse taps with 15A fuses installed in the tap. Should i use the same fuse locations as you did in the video, eventhough those were 10A fuses you removed?
    Or should i use differnet fuse locations, and if so, which?! Thanks. Awesome video btw.

      You can look a metal bracket under the dash and that is typically a good ground for testing.

    I successfully installed a dual channel dash cam according to your instructions (thank you!) however, I have a red airbag light showing on the dashboard. Could it be I was a little too rough with the airbag in the a-line when I was trying to feed the power like through? Very worried that I damaged the airbag function now.

    I followed all the steps on this video this was super helpful. now I am facing a battery discharge warning due to an external device on my Palisade. I installed an Viofo with their hardkitwire and it is on the 12.4 V if I am not wrong. Should I be worried and uninstall the hardkit?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  2 роки тому +3

      With the Hyundai and Kia, you will get this message. These cars have a monitoring system that monitors any devices slowly draining the car battery. It doesn't necessarily mean the car battery is too low. As long as you set the cutoff voltage no lower than 12v on the hardwire kit or dashcam, then it will be fine.

    Thanks for your perfect installation instructions. But I have a small question. Does the cable line cross the airbag on the B pillar(block the airbag on B pillar)? Thanks.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  Рік тому

      The cable will run parallel to the side curtain airbag, and it doesn't block the airbag.

    • @rakish001
      @rakish001 6 місяців тому

      @@dial2fastif it’s running parallel, shouldn’t you have zip tied it behind the airbag?
      I routed my cable from the floor just to have that peace of mind

    • @buddyboy4x44
      @buddyboy4x44 2 місяці тому

      @@dial2fast I see lots of concerns about cables going across pillar air bags. I would have thought an exploding air bag would easily rip through a cable of such size in a flash. No air bag functionality would be lost but the cable would be history, hardly a concern if an accident causing air bag deployment had occurred.

    I noted that with THIS hardwire kit the YELLOW wire was the constant 12V wire and the RED was the ACC wire. I have a Viofo hardwire kit for an A129 Pro Duo dashcam and the wires are just the opposite. YELLOW is labeled as ACC and the RED is labeled as the hot wire.
    You need to be very careful with your hardwire kit and make sure you know which goes where. Apparently the colors are not universally labeled. I had my kit installed by a professional auto alarm shop for the Santa Fe I just purchased and I think he switched the wires. My dashcam was recording 24 hours a day for several days before i caught it. I brought it back to get it checked. He would not admit he made the mistake but the dashcam now works as it's intended to.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  3 місяці тому

      Your findings are correct. There is no one standard with the yellow & red wire. Many of the Japanese/Korean car products will use yellow as constant 12V, and many of the China products will use yellow as ignition 12V. But all the products are labeled, so the installer just need to read the label.

    Do I need to protect my dash cam as explained at 10:29? Can't I connect my dash cam directly to power side of the fuse without buying this extra protection stuff from Amazon?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  2 роки тому +1

      If you shove the wire into the factory fuse slot, you should still find out which side of the fuse is input and which side is output. The reason for using a proper fuse tap instead of shoving the wire in the fuse box is because the bare wire can fray and short the fuse contacts. You might also damage the fuse slot by shoving both the fuse and wire in it and making the metal contacts widen more than it should.

    Nice review... Good point about running the rear camera wire... If ever you need to replace or upgrade... Though hopefully that's only every 4 years or so.. You can also use a mobile screen protector on the window to stick the rear and front cameras on. Just a quick question, there were a lot of open fuse slots... Did you consider using some those for the fuse tap? In terms of the fuse tap orientation, if it's the wrong way around it's not that the camera will be unprotected, it will be protected by the lower position fuse (if one is there) first and then by the upper position fuse.... If there is no lower position fuse, then the camera will not work.

      Good review, but constant battery draw of the electronics on the new vehicles plus parking mode you're gonna be over 60 Ma, better keep a boost pack in the vehicle. As well budget out for a new battery every year.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  2 роки тому +2

      With this dash cam that's installed, you set a cut off voltage to shut off automatically when it reaches a certain voltage. But you are correct it does add wear to the car battery. If you want parking mode recording and not use the car battery for power, your only other option is to buy a dedicated dash cam battery pack which will cost more than $400.

      I have a Hyundai Palisade XRT 2023 and I'm trying to install the dash cam so I think installation is going to be the same like yours I have to plug the hardwiring at the same fuse like you did with your dash cam on your car????,my dash cam model it's a Vantrue N4 and the hardwiring, have a two wearing one ground and the other one when you connect on your fuse box so the installation is gonna be the same like you did. I'm gonna plug the wiring in the same place like you did on your car????

      @@leoleo1680 The easiest way to see if the installation will be the same is compare the fuse box panel between my video and your car. If it's the same, then the install is the same.
