Amazing information! I’m from New York City and after watching your video I went to the Hiunday Dealer to order a Santa Fe! Because of you I’m getting the Car next week! Thank you very much for sharing this valuable information that makes many people take the right decisions! The way you’ve explained everything is Just marvelous! I needed that push to take the step so thank you! Wish you the best of luck and don’t stop posting such a nice info about the car… you are my reason for getting a Santa Fe!
Hi Mario. Thank you so very much for watching the episode and sharing those kind words. We greatly appreciate you. We set out with the goal to educate car shoppers since this was such a popular model and we're fortunate that so many have viewed it. We are beyond thrilled that we have become a part of your journey and excited to hear about your purchase. With you being up in NY, you have worse winters than ours in OH, so be sure to check out the floor liner episodes we did. They will come in handy with protecting your investment. Also, we just released a dash cam install video if you move into getting one up there. Let us know how you enjoy your Santa Fe either through here, email or our FB page. Cheers!
You can hit the talk button on the steering wheel and tell the car to open and close various windows for example open passenger window or rear windows, close all windows, raise temperature, turn on or off heated steering wheel, go to a specific radio station and probably more that I cannot think of now. It doesn’t work on sunroof. I showed this to my sales person and it blew him away.
Hi Nicholas. Thank you very much for watching and sharing something entirely new for us. 😁. We had to go out and go through them all just to see what we can do. We greatly appreciate you. Stay safe!
@@SpiritedWrenchers - some commands have to be stated EXACTLY as written into programming or they don't work. And funny thing, my wife's voice is not as well received as mine. Is that a tone thing?😉
Hi Mark, thank you for watching and sharing your journey with us. Congrats on your new Santa Fe. The blue is a beautiful color for sure and we couldn't agree more on the techie's dream. We hope you subscribe to follow along with more Santa Fe episodes and that you have many safe miles ahead. Cheers!
I want to thank you two very much for this additional information. I have made a factory purchase two weeks ago of the 2022 Santa Fe Calligraphy and the information you provided was part of what persuaded me to buy it over other competitors.. Can't wait to receive it in April!
Hi Monique. Thank you so much for watching and sharing the kind words. This is exactly why we enjoy making these videos...to help others. So we couldn't be happier for you and your purchase. We hope that you consider subscribing because we have more episodes planned for this beauty. By the way, what color did you go with?
Well hello, so nice of you to reply! I just subscribed to your channel. : ) What color did I go with? I got the Stormy blue, in part because I could get the beige interior with it.
@@margeaupanforte , our friends/Viewers are important to us so we really enjoy the opportunity to connect with each of you if we can. Great choice in color. I (Art) personally love the beige interior but Dana is more of a darker/black interior fan. Plus with our dogs, block was the better choice. LOL. Thank you so much for subscribing. We really appreciate it.
@@George__Caldera Thank you for watching and sharing your story. We greatly appreciate it and excited to hear you have one on the way. We wish you many safe and happy miles with it and hope you stick around for more Calligraphy content.
Hi Walt. Thank you for watching and sharing. We greatly appreciate it. Congrats on the 2023 purchase. Yes, the features list is long for sure. Lol. We still haven't learned everything on it. Stay safe out there and we hope subscribe for more Santa Fe content.
Great review... Couple of things I would like to add is that the you can change cockpit gage cluster to static one and other one is to have apple car play in full screen instead of split screens.. remote start the vehicle via blue link app to your desired air conditioning setting.. Front seat side glass is double laminate.. Also many reviewer don't talk about is fuel multiport injection which keeps the vales clean instead of GDI.
Hi Karan. Thank you for watching, sharing the kind words and additional suggestions. The list is so long, it was very tough for us to narrow down to just 12 digestible ones that would be relevant to most owners. The remote temp settings from the app is a great one. Honestly didn't think about that one as Dana is the one that uses the app all the time. LOL. Thanks again and hope you stick around for future episodes. Cheers!
Great review, one thing. The HUD display of speed changes from yellow to red when your speed exceeds 10% of the posted limit and it rounds up to the higher rate. For example, if the limit is 35, red will occur at 39. I love your reviews!!
HI Brian. Thank you so much for watching and sharing. You're absolutely right and it's one of the coolest things we like about the HUD. That and turn by turn. LOL. So much to love about this vehicle. We appreciate you being a part of our journey. Stay safe out there!
Thanks guys, so good to see a review with snow in the background. Picked up my Santa Fe this week and I love it. Here in Australia the Calligraphy is known as the Highlander. No it isn't a Toyota but Hyundai registered the Highlander here before Toyota got around to it. The Toyota Highlander is known as the Kluger (whatever that is, sounds like a villain in a James Bond movie) here and is a big seller. There are a few differences between the Santa Fes sold here and the ones you get in the USA. 1. The steering wheel is on the correct side! 2. Two engines are available. A petrol V6 which is a bit of a clunker and a 2.2 litre turbo diesel with the 8 speed DCT which is as smooth as silk. 3. The Highlander is 4WD and comes with a full size 20 inch alloy spare wheel. It can be a long way between big cities in Australia ! 4. All Santa Fes regardless of model are 7 seaters. 5. Our cars are much more expensive than yours ! 6. Not sure where your car was built but ours are made in Korea. Just on the matter of fuel consumption it is a 100km (60 mile) freeway trip from the dealership to my home. With the brand new engine and running at 80-100 kph I got an indicated 5.6 litres per 100 kilometres which equates to just over 40 miles per US gallon. So it's early days yet and I am still trying to fugure out all the "quirks and features". Good luck to you both, do not envy you that snow ! Roger Mt. Martha, Victoria, Australia
Hi Roger, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! I feel that Australia gets a lot of the best versions of cars that we really don't always have in the U.S.A.! 1) I know there's a lot of debate about who invented the automobile, but I feel like LHD is the correct setup and RHD is just more fun (humor intended). 2) A turbo diesel sounds amazing! I do enjoy the 2.5L I-4 turbo... I think it has just the right amount of pep. 3) I knew they didn't include our spare to cut costs! 4) 7 seats sounds like 0 cargo space. Do you ever yank out the 3rd row? 5/6) Most new cars sold here, at least the popular makes/models are also made here. Our Calligraphy was manufactured in Alabama, and I know there are also Toyota, Honda, Kia, and Subaru plants here in the U.S.A. to save on shipping costs and meet market demands. I do wish our Calligraphy got better fuel economy, but I also think it could be operator error (I do have a heavy foot). Seems I still learn new quirks every other drive as well, so it's only a matter of time before we uncover all the secrets! Oddly, I still haven't locked in the AWD function to drive in the snow. We don't get THAT much where we live in Ohio :) Thank you so much for watching! Take care and stay safe!
@@SpiritedWrenchers 1) No debate ! 2} As mentioned I only picked her up last week so I am still becoming accustomed to the performance. It certainly has much more pep than my 2013 Subaru Outback. 3) As I said our cars are much more expensive than yours as is our fuel. 4} The third row is not easily detachable. Our State police uses the Santa Fe as well as the Toyota Kluger (Highlander to you). Apparently they have a warehouse full of third row seats that they have removed. 5/6} That Toyota Kluger that I mentioned is built in the USA. Australia is one of the very few RHD markets for which it is built. We are down on the south coast of Australia so we get zero snow. We are currently in the depths of winter so our daytime max is 11C. Good luck and don't drink too little of that whiskey !!!
@@pd3139 Sounds like you live in the Australian version of Florida! The AWD should definitely come in handy in soft sand and rainy conditions as well, but again, I just haven't clicked that button yet. Warehouses of 3rd row seats for the Kluger and Santa Fe.... There is probably a market for that in the U.S.A. if anyone wanted to rent out a shipping container! I suppose between higher imposed taxes, shipping/delivery cost for non-domestic products, and Rego costs make it much harder to afford a newer vehicle there, not to mention the higher petrol expenses as you said. Us Americans are very spoiled and entitled to that cheap gasoline. Oh, yes. Whiskey was made to be consumed, not sit on a shelf and look pretty!! ;) We'll have to have a toast in your honor tonight!
Also, we don’t have the Hyundai Blue Link app here in Australia, though it says on the Hyundai site that it is coming soon for selected models. Fingers crossed.
Great easy to understand video. I knew a few of these already as we've had vehicle since June but coming from an older 12 year old car, what an upgrade for us. Love the HUD. Wish the NAV system would allow for new locations to be inserted by operator while in motion cause sometimes you change your mind and a hassle to pull over, put it in park, adjust and then start again. Find I prefer the 3D view as the "road" lines are wider vs the grey lines of 2D images. Also like the zoom feature of the radio knob on right side, very convenient. You have finally informed me how to remote start my vehicle and do the move-ahead/back feature. Our dealership was not quite as informative about all features and how they worked when we took delivery - maybe they did not know how to make it work either. At my first service appointment, I asked a question about a feature and when they explained it to me, I was happy but when they mentioned it on my bill as "Ëxplained X feature to customer - NO CHARGE", I was not happy to see they may have charged me to answer a question!!
Hi Andy, not sure how I missed replying to your comment, but with regards to the mid-drive NAV, you can actually use BlueLink to request a new route, cancel route, and even go to a different destination! Just press the "speak" button next to mode on the steering wheel and ask for the change. We have used it many times with success. Not all dealerships are created equal unfortunately, and I'm sure the advisor/technician is required to log every minute they spend on a particular vehicle. I would not think a customer should be charged for a simple explanation of vehicle operation; that would be a first for us!
Great review guys! So refreshing to see a review that focuses on the cool, unusual stuff instead of just the usual features and functions. I've had my Callig for 7 months and love it. It took me a solid 5-6 weeks to familiarize myself with all of the features and customization, because there's just so much stuff! But man was that fun, going out every night to discover some new hidden nugget. I did not know about the driver's seat extension, and that was worth watching this video for all by itself. I traded an X3 for the Calligraphy and have never looked back; it's my 6th SUV and the best one I've had. Also the only car I've ever had that I preferred the native NAV to using my phone / Google maps. Too bad it's so hard to find for sale, or I think many more people would have them. There are zero for sale within 50 miles of my house right now. Anyway, great video, very informative and interesting.
Hi Larry. Thank you so much for watching, sharing your story and the kind words. We greatly it. We couldn't agree with you more. So much to learn with this one and we enjoy each time we take her out for a drive. This is my 1st SUV but Dana's 2nd and she is quickly getting over her first. Lol. If you could name 1-3 favorite features, what would they be? Stay safe out there. Cheers.
I just picked up a Santa Fe Calligraphy yesterday and WOW! I also traded in a BMW X3 and this vehicle blows it away. Granted, it was a 2014 but this vehicle is amazing. Will take a while to get used to!
@@StylewithSerena Woo Hoo. That is awesome Serena. Thank you so much for watching the episode. We greatly appreciate it. Excellent content from very likeable and relatable presenters. I purchased my 2023 Calligraphy this week, enjoying getting to know it! Narrowed it down to this or a new X5, both were in budget. The X5 drove better, maybe $15k better. Comparably equipped I couldn't justify $40k more. Happy with my purchase, it's a nice car though the badge won't impress people whose opinions don't matter to me anyway. Looking forward to watching more content from you both, thanks for taking the time to film these~🙏
Hi Todd. Thank you so much for watching and sharing the kind words. We can't express how much we appreciate them. Congratulations on your '23 Calli. The X5 has come up with others as a competitor but the price difference is a large one. We're not fans of BMW so we never considered them but we recognize others do. We hope you have many miles of safe smiles ahead of you and we thank you for subscribing and joining along on our journey. Cheers!
@AnonymousAnonymous-ks1bg The seat was the best of any of the dozens of cars and trucks I tried. I have low back issues, and I'm tall (6'4"). The Santa Fe Calligraphy was the best seat for me of all, not even a close second to really consider. It's reasonably quiet. I think the headliner in the Calligraphy helps absorb some sound as it's noticeably quieter with it closed. Great driving car on long hiway and backroad trips. I really enjoy the driver assist features, they work quite well and predictably. My wife gets 30mpg driving gently on 50mph hiways. I average 25mpg hiway 22mpg overall. 11,770 miles, no problems at all. I liked the car when I bought it, I love it now.
One other feature that is part of the user profiles is the on board nav map settings. The map settings are saved per user profile. Also, the interior ambient light color is also set by user profile too.
Hi Pete. Thank you very much for watching and sharing. You're absolutely right on those so thanks for mentioning them. There are so many unique features, I'm sure we can do a separate episode of another 12. LOL. Thanks once again. Cheers!
The side mirrors will tilt down when in reverse if you have the side mirror switch in either left, or right, not neutral. Read the book about 4 times….you will find more and more things on this vehicle. We just bought a 2023 Santa Fe Calligraphy..right now less then 1000miles on it and on our 1st trip with it. Great review…I learned about how to do my own profile, and knowing that it will save my radio presets all the other stuff great thank you!
Hi Philip, thank you so much for watching and sharing the kind words as well as your discoveries along the way. We really do appreciate that. I'm not sure we knew about the mirrors but will check that out. Congrats on the '23 purchase. That's fantastic. We hope you have many safe miles ahead and continue to be a part of our journey here on YT. Cheers!
Thank you for this high quality and informative review. Four months ago when shopping for a new Genesis in Las Vegas, we found a 2022 Santa Fe Calligraphy which as you know has a lot of the Genesis goodies at about 15k less. Believe it or not, the dealership now has zero new cars on the lot and the same is true several other local dealers. Some lower Santa Fe trims are in transit but no guarantees on dates or specific equipment!
Hi Don. Thank you for watching, sharing the kind words and your story. We'll say luck was on our side for this one as it should have been gone but the other buyers didn't move fast enough. It was just the way Dana was going to build it online too. Did you not get it when you could or you did and thankful? Cheers!
@@SpiritedWrenchers Yes, grabbed it on sight, metallic black with tan interior. I see you are in snow country, do plan on adding winter wheels and tires if so you might look into an 18" rim combo.
@@don1946 that's great to hear. I love the tan interior but with dogs, it wouldn't have been smart plus we live in the country. Lol. We're going to really test the snow mode before we do anything about winter tires. Had them for my WRX and the winter's just aren't that bad here.
@@SpiritedWrenchers Just as a small aside, maybe because our car is black and with the nice black headliner, passengers don't notice the pana-roof and are quite stunned when the sun shade is opened, especially with the size. Looking forward to your updates!
@@don1946 LOL. That's funny. It is a beautiful roof. I'm not a big sun roof guy but I'm sure this one will get some use. Thank you for following our journey.
That's why I loved you guys right away. I'm visiting you first time today and wanted someone to explain me the features that are the most useful and practical for the day to day users. No BS like torque and HP. Those A8 reviews and the zonker guy. You guys are the best friends for an everyday user. So thank you for keeping the focus more on features than the technical stuff. Quick question, I noticed a gap while she was explaining number 4. Can you please explain why? Thanks!
Hi TheSoulsLovesMusic (great name btw). Thank you for watching and sharing the awesome feedback and kind words. We greatly appreciate it. That is exactly why we wanted to put together something different than others. I went back to look at number 4 and it was likely a natural pause or just an editing cut that I made but nothing was taken out from what I recall. Thanks for asking. We encourage you to subscribe as we have more content coming out on the Sante Fe soon. Take care and stay safe.
When I asked the dealer if I can mount a spare tire underneath my ‘23 Calligraphy (there is a place for one), they told me no because the diameters of the Calligraphy tires are bigger - so one won’t fit.
Great Job! I've had a 21 Santa Fe SEL Convenience Hybrid for about 6 months. It's pretty similar to the 22 While it doesn't have the all around view, side view from the dash or as many features on the seats (or heated rear seats), it's pretty similar. You showed me a couple of features I did not know. I have a battery that blocks storing the rear shade, I had to check that out. I would add that you have remote start by app that allows you to set it for summer or winter settings in advance. Also, you can lock the door by holding the handle on exit. The hybrid gets 33 in the city in the summer (only about 26-27 during the winter, the ICE runs more) and a solid 30 on the highway
Hi Wendell. Thank you so much for watching, sharing the kind words and also sharing some additional tips for us and our viewers. (I apologize for not replying soon but I never saw your post). You are greatly appreciated. Great to know about the app with Summer and Winter settings. We'll have to check that one out. I'm still getting used to the locking and unlocking with the door handle but I do love the feature. LOL. Stay safe out there!
Thanks for the all the nuggets. I’ve had mine about 4 months. I checked online and the dealership had one and we got there, did a test drive and was sold. I’m still learning it, but love it. My previous suv was Nissan Murano which I still have for now. Looking forward to your next video.
Hi Teresa. Thank you for watching and sharing your story. We greatly appreciate you. That's fantastic to hear you landed one just like we did. LOL. Dana's prior SUV was a 2010 Subaru Forester. We will likely be selling private market in the next few months. No need to keep both for her. Thank you for subscribing and following along on our journey. Stay safe!
Thanks for this video! On the climate control, what “button” are you hitting to change the different airflow directions? Do I have to go the convenience menu to do this?
Hi CT, thanks for watching and asking this. The climate controls in our 2022 Santa Fe are operated by the central console/control panel buttons only, and displayed in the screen. I find the display very difficult to see and often find myself cycling through the button menu until I know I selected what directional flow I want. There are 2 rows of buttons sandwiched between temperature levers just above the gear selector and drive mode wheel. The button to cycle through the front defroster, feet, and upper air vents is between the "fan up" (image of a large fan) and "climate" buttons, and beneath the "outside air" (no recirculation) button. Unfortunately on our 2022, the screen cannot be used to select your desired climate settings. Hope this has helped; take care and stay safe!
Thank you for watching and sharing. We really appreciate it. This could vary depending on dealer and how the plant creates the build sheet. Some will have them and some won't. Those that do will have it built into the overall final price. Sorry to hear you didn't get one. Stay safe out there!
My wife & I are brand new Santa Fe owners of this year and model. This is a great video. Will a full size spare tire and wheel fit under the bottom where a spare is supposed to go, or does the AWD system prevent that?
Hi Steve, thanks for watching and asking! We have seen other owners on other social media groups like Facebook reports that a full-size spare will fit underneath with the AWD. It's on our list to do more research on it, including obtaining the parts numbers needed, but it hasn't been a priority for us yet. We'd love to help more with this, so if you want to send us an email, we can do our best to help identify the parts numbers and appropriate online resources that can confirm fitment. Eventually, we may do this install and create a video, but as stated, it isn't a priority for us yet. Hope this helps; take care and stay safe!!
Thank you for the great review. Just purchased my Calligraphy, and watched this prior to purchasing. My sales person knew less about the features than I did, and I suggested that they should watch this review. I have read thru all the comments and replies and found a lot of information. I do have a couple of questions questions. 1. When setting up the individual profiles for all the memory items, does it default to the last setting for a particular profile? Since my husband hasn’t set up his profile, when he changes the seat, is that now my profile? 2. Do the seat coolers/warmers come on automatically based on outside temperature? I have not found that setting if it is available. 3. You mentioned FB user groups, are there also groups available via the app? Thank you for your time, and all the great information.
Hi Kathy. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your story with us. That's not only funny but complimentary, and we're thankful to have been of help with your buying decision. Thank you for sharing the video with the sales team too. 😁 So for the questions. 1: all memory items are tied to the individual profile so if your husband changes the seat, and your profile is selected, then yes. The work around is to program your search preferences in both #1 & #2 in case he messes with the seat, you can easily go back that way. 2: The seat coolers and warmers do not come on automatically. They can only be turned on via the buttons in the suv. 3: The only groups that are out there are on FB or other social media sites. We Hope those help and you have many safe miles ahead!
Hi Chucky. Thank you for watching and sharing with us. We really appreciate it and we're glad the video was helpful to you. Stay safe out there in the new year. Cheers!
I was looking at getting a used Santa Fe Calligraphy and I really enjoyed your video. Are you still enjoying the car? Are there any things that have gone wrong with it and does it have ambient lighting?
Hi Lidsman, thanks for watching and asking! We now have close to 55k miles on our 2022 Calligraphy and we still love it. You can see from our other Santa Fe videos that we do as much of our own maintenance as we can without voiding warranties. That said, this vehicle's maintenance is more costly than anticipated (such as the spark plug cost), but not so expensive that we cannot afford to do it. The only issue that we have experienced thus far was needing to have the sunroof readjusted at the dealer which was covered under warranty (it would not close). We did have to sign a paper stating we would pay for the repair if it was found to be due to negligence (like say, if a child had stuck a pencil in the track), and had no problems doing so as we do fully maintain our vehicle. Yes, our Calligraphy has some ambient lighting, but it is only located above the glove box on the passenger side. It's barely noticeable most of the time for us. Our suggestions for pricing and shopping used 4th Gen Santa Fe's is to do the research on the maintenance intervals and ensure it's been fully maintained per the correct schedule: severe driving conditions vs normal driving conditions. The vast majority of drivers should be following the severe driving schedule, and dealers are failing to advise them as such. Ask questions about the active TSB/Recall on the 8DCT to ensure that you will be covered should you encounter the dreaded P1C2D03 code. We hope this helps; take care and stay safe! Happy shopping!
Awesome info. Did you happen to install the front license tag bracket? The holes don’t line up with the holes on the bumper and supposedly you can block the cruise radar if installed incorrectly. Could you make a video or link it for me please? Thanks
Hi Chuck. Thank you for watching and sharing the kind words. We really appreciate it. Our state no longer requires a front license plate so we actually didn't install one. If the plate (or anything for that matter) covers the sensor in the front, it could certainly be a problem as you'll lose many of the cruise features. Hope you're able to locate some additional information online. A good place would be the 4th Gen Facebook group if you're on that platform.
Just bought a 2023 last week. Great video, helps a lot. One thing I can not find anything on is the options on the folding side view mirrors. Handbook says where to go to chose the unlock/lock option or the walk by. When I go to the convenience screen described in handbook that option is not there. Any ideas, I am getting tired of the mirrors folding in and out every time I walk by the vehicle with the key in my pocket. Thanks
Hi Jack, Thanks for watching and asking! It never really bothered us much, but I can confirm that when I dig into the menu via Setup > Vehicle > Convenience > "Welcome Mirror/Light" that there is an option to enable the lights and mirrors to on/unfold upon door lock and/or upon driver approach. I did have to click the sub-menu "Welcome Mirror/Light" to see these options listed. If you have any trouble, please send us an email and I'll provide pictures to walk you through the steps. Hope this helps; take care and stay safe!
@@SpiritedWrenchers Thanks for such a quick response. Your description is exactly what it says in the manual and I have done that and just did again. When I select convenience the only items that show up are rear occupant alert, service interval, oil change reminder, wireless charging system and auto rear wiper. It is not a big deal just bugs me that it is suppose to be there, total 1st world problem. We have to walk by our car to get to the storage unit in our condo. Maybe they forgot it in the 2023. I will head to the dealer later. Thank again
@Jack-cr3je thank you so much for watching our other Santa Fe videos. You'd be surprised on how easy the led upgrades are. The camera is definitely more complex. We hope you enjoy the channel and follow along in all of our videos. Take care and stay safe out there.
@Jack-cr3je we're wondering if the 2023 has a different system then. When you take it to the dealer, let us know what they say. If you strike out, let us know and we will contact our Hyundai dealership, who is also a channel sponsor.
Hi Amarnathan, we absolutely love it too! We did test it out in snow mode during the Christmas winter storm and found the AWD to function quite well during icy stop/starts. Have fun and stay safe!
I think a spare will fit underneath the back end, because the AWD hybrids have a spare in Canada, but not the turbo model. This vehicle is very high on my list, at least it still have physical buttons for the HVAC and radio controls.
Hi Rigid Liquid. Thank you very much for watching and commenting. We greatly appreciate it. You're right, we've since discovered that it will fit and will cost roughly $500 for all the materials plus a tire. We have an auto club so we're going to roll the dice on not adding one for now. And yes, the physical buttons were a big part for us as well. Glad to hear it's on your list also. Cheers!
Tailgate proximity key opening and height adjustment and reclining back seats has been a feature available on Hyundai Santa Fe for a while, I have it on my 2017 Santa Fe Sport(convenience package).
Hi Tim. Thanks for watching and sharing. We appreciate it. This is our 1st newer Santa Fe so the features are new to us and I'm sure other new owners may not know of these as well. Glad you have them on yours. Stay safe.
Hi 3alarm247. Thank you VERY much for watching and sharing such a huge compliment. With a TON of review channels and videos out there, your comment means a great deal to us. We're glad that it's helping so many out when looking into the Santa Fe. We wish you luck on your purchase and we hope you subscribe for more Santa Fe content. Let us know what color combo you land with. Stay safe out there.
The other feature that is worth mentioning, is the rear seat occupant alert, if you exit and lock the vehicle with a person or pet in the second row, it will then sound the horn when you walk away. Also It will not open a rear door to the traffic side if the sensor detects oncoming traffic. Many thanks for sharing, as you highlighted features I was not fully conversant with...
Hi David, thanks for watching and noting the rear occupancy feature! We did not mention it in our video, because our salesman pointed it out to us and noted that it will go off if the rear-passenger moves. This would mean if we left the dogs in the car after fueling up, to run inside to use the washroom, our car would sound the alarm, LOL! We leave this feature off for that reason; however, if we had small kids we would ABSOLUTELY keep it turned on. We are delighted that you found our other feature list helpful! Take care and stay safe!
Great video. We have a 2023 Calligraphy. Question…is there anyway to reprogram the car to not require seatbelt to be fastened to move the car? There are many occasions where I simply want move the car out of the garage and do not want to fasten the seatbelt. If on any type of incline the automatic parking break gets set and buckling up is the only way to move the car. Obviously, I wear seatbelt anytime I’m going to actually drive anywhere.
Hi Ronald, thanks for watching and noting this! In our 2022, there's a parking brake button on the left lower driver dash panel where we are able to 'manually' turn on or off the parking brake. I've found that when moving the car in/out of the garage that I don't need a seat belt (she does complain something awful with alarms though), and I can turn off the parking brake whenever it's activated at the mailbox and drive to the house without a seat belt. We are curious as to if the 2023's have been thoroughly reprogrammed alongside the over-the-air map updates to disable this capability, so please do let us know if these suggestions don't work! Thanks again for watching, take care and stay safe!
Hi Art and Dana, Great review! This SUV is loaded with so many features many luxury cars do not have. I think it's a hidden gem - and maybe my next vehicle. 😉Thanks!
Hi Kim. Thank you so much for watching and sharing the kind words. We greatly appreciate you. We 100% agree with you on the amount of features you get compared to even higher end SUV's. We hope you land one and are just as happy as we are with ours. Stay safe!
Got ours 20 minutes after it was still on the truck and the driver unloaded it. the dealership had no calligraphys on the lot. We singed the paperwork and 5 hrs later drove it home after they had finished detailing it. This was December 23 Marry Christmas present lol. We are still finding different things we didn’t know about. We are so happy with it the only thing I wanted it doesn’t have all wheal drive. Happy Campers
Hi Gary, Thank you so much for watching and sharing your cool story. We love it. We to went to test drive ours, was told that it was the only one they had and a family had test driven it twice(over 2 days) but didn't put money down on it. We asked if we can sign the paperwork now. LOL. The sales guy didn't hesitate to say yes. That family came back the next day to test drive it again. Granted they took it out for 2 hours each time and the sales guy was happy to tell them no this time. You have to move fast on these. Unfortunate yours didn't come with the AWD though, but you got one and you're happy. That's all that matters. If you don't have a hybrid, we're giving away a free set of all weather liners if you check out that video to enter this week. Stay safe out there.
Hi Pablo; thanks for watching!!! What would you be interested in seeing in a Part 2 video? We've now ticked over 50k miles and still loving it. More features, or just the top features that we can't live without 50k miles later?
Hi Lawrence, thank you for watching and sharing the kind words. We greatly appreciate it. I had to do a quick search to see what the inventory looks like out there. When we bought ours, we were able to get it for around $48k. There are currently no 22's that are new in our area. Used go from 40k- 48k depending on mileage. Hope that helps and we wish you luck on your Santa Fe search!
Hi LifeofRyanRC. Thank you for watching and sharing the kind words. We greatly appreciate it. Congrats on your new purchase. What color did you go with?
@LifeofRyanRC Dana originally wanted our color so we were lucky it was the one at the dealer. I, personally love the Hampton grey too. Did you go with the tan or black interior?
@@SpiritedWrenchers black interior. There is a black one with the beige interior that gets in a few days earlier that I might go look at and switch. But black is hard to keep clean. And most the other dealers in the area have these ridiculous markups or add ons.
@LifeofRyanRC completely understand. I'd avoid the black paint as well. We have 2 other vehicles that are black and I wish they weren't. Lol. I do love the tan/beige interior though with the right exterior. We couldn't have that though due to our dogs. Always something. 😁
By far my favorite Hyundai color. Wish my Elantra N was offered in that color. We were holding out for the plug in variant, but I don’t think NC will ever get them. So we are going for this exact car. Nice video as always.
Hi N979Q, thank you so much for watching and sharing the kind words as well as your journey. We appreciate that. Yes, we looked at Elantra N's initially as part of our trip to determine what Dana wanted the most. We couldn't be happier with where we landed. Good luck on your purchase as well.
Up here in Canuck land, we only get black, white or a very weird "red" colour that to us appears orange. Wanted a red vehicle this time but settled for black and very nice looking as well.
My wife just purchased the Santa Fe Calligraphy, in the same exterior color (portofino gray) as the vehicle used in your review. Couldn't get the black interior as she wanted, but with excellent trade value and the dealerships "circle plan" rebate, we didn't want to pass this by, so bought the model with the camel on black interior. Any suggestions on keeping it looking "new" for years to come???
Hi David, thanks for watching and commenting!! Having experienced a touch of summer in the black interior, it made me wonder a couple of times I'd black was the best choice, so you may have a blessing in disguise there! For the interior, I am doing everything to protect and condition the leather. We have a seat protector for the dogs, that hooks between all the headrests and zips up on the door sides that has been a godsend for our backseat. I am a huge personal fan of Connoisseur's choice leather cleaner and protectant, but to be honest any top brand will work from Griot's to Chemical Guys. For the exterior, right now we are just doing periodic washes. I haven't yet decided if I want to use a shorter-life protectant like NuWax, the protectant I used on my Subaru (Liquid glass), or pay for a professional ceramic coating. They all have pros/cons, so when I decide I will be sure to let you know! When winter approaches, we will be paying to have the undercarriage and wheel wells sprayed with fluid film to protect against rust from salty roads. We've seen firsthand in the Subaru how well it protects, and it's definitely a winner! Hope this helps, and let us know if you have any other questions or thoughts regarding protection. Take care and stay safe!
Hi I am wondering what the 3 they look like led lights on the ceiling of my 2023 Santa Fe Limited. They are between the back seat and the cargo area. If they are lights how do i turn them on?
Hello! Thanks for watching and asking. The assembly you're referring to is actually the rear passenger sensor array. It is controlled in the programmable settings to notify you (with alarms) if there is any movement in the passenger area. We have it turned off on our Santa Fe as when traveling with dogs, we don't particularly want alarms to sound when we run in for a quick restroom break on a road trip. It would be ideal for someone who travels with smaller children. Hope this helps; take care and stay safe!
Question about turn by turn navigation. This is my second Santa Fe the one drawback to the Navigation System is that it does not tell you which side of the road the destination is on. All it says when you're arriving at your destination is "Your destination is ahead". Not very helpful in an urban setting on a four lane street. I don't know whether the store is in the strip mall on the left or the strip mall on the right. Really a big problem when I end up in the wrong lane for turning in to my destination. Am I setting up the navigation incorrectly or is this just a draw back of the Hyundai System?
Hi Jan, thanks for watching and commenting about this. I have lamented this lack of feature before, and you aren't alone! It is just Hyundai's Navigation that doesn't instruct which side of the road your destination is. I usually will grab a street number when I'm close to determine which side of the road my destination is based on if it ends in an odd number or even number. At least in the USA, street numbers are all odd or all even on the same side of the road (I'm sure exceptions exist though). The only way to get around this is to use Android Auto or Apple Auto via the USB wire, but then you'd lose the turn-by-turn in the HUD. Neither solution is perfect I'm afraid. Hope this helps, we really hope Hyundai makes corrections in future updates, and take care and stay safe!
@@mikezagorsky Thank you Mike for watching and sharing that suggestion. We greatly appreciate it. I'm going to go look that up to learn more about it. Maybe something to try out down the road.
I’m from Australia and already own the 2022 Santa Fe, fully loaded, what we call the Highlander. It’s a 7 seater opposed to the 5 seater you guys get. Third row comes with climate control and USBs. That’s why you can move the second row forward. We have 4 engine options. The Highlander comes with the 2.2 litre turbo diesel. Paired with the 8 speed wet dual clutch. It’s even better than the 2.5 petrol. It also has a full size spare. Other than that. Most features are the same.
Hi shanedrorival, thanks for watching and commenting! I've always felt Australia gets the best engine options! All this talk of the seats moving forward or back really makes me want to look up online and see if I can order the rails or kit to install in ours, even if we don't have the 3rd row seats (which I think would be really neat, however rarely used). We definitely don't have cargo climate vents that I've seen, but they would have come in handy back in July trying to keep our groceries cold while navigating through the maze of blocked roads to get home during storm clean-up. For now, I think I'll research the sliding seats.... take care and stay safe and cool!
You’re incorrect on the reason that the AWD doesn’t have a spare. It has nothing to do with lack of space it was a decision by Hyundai to save a few pounds for fuel economy numbers. The undercarriage is the same and the space is there. You can easily obtain the carrier hoist bracket, a donut spare and the jack kit for about $400. I did it to mine shortly after purchase. The repair kit is useless if you have a blowout or rim damage and roadside won’t be able to do anything except arrange to be towed. No thanks.
Hi Markymark. Thanks for watching and sharing. Yes, we have since learned this about the spare (video was made over a year ago, and 2023 is a carryover year). We were initially going off what the dealer told us, unfortunately. For ours, we have roadside and have had no desire to add the full kit like you and others have done, but we're glad that the items are readily available for owners to get. We hope that you have many safe miles ahead and never need your spare. Thanks again. Cheers!
Hi JCraftvfx, thanks for watching and asking. We greatly appreciate it. Apologies on the delay as the holidays had us very busy this month. Your question was a new discovery for ourselves with this SUV. If the wheels are turned when activating the feature, the car automatically straightens the wheels up and then moves in the direction that you have selected. Our minds are blown. LOL. Hope that helps and thanks again for being a part of our community.
Thanks for the review! This will be our next car. A couple of questions... what color is your car, and do the driver/passenger headrests tilt forward? Also - your #10 should add that the foam dividers can be removed if you want to store really large items out of sight.
Hi Mark. Thanks for watching and commenting. We greatly appreciate it. Our color is Portofino Grey. Great question on the headrests. I actually had to go check because I didn't know. 🙂. Surprisingly they do not. Wish they did though. Thanks for educating on the foam dividers. That's great to know. Each day we learn something new on her. Are you planning on building and ordering online or just watching the lots for yours?
@@SpiritedWrenchers Thanks for the quick reply! More than likely I'll have to order one... we want a AWD Calligraphy in either Portofino Gray or Hampton Gray, with the Beige interior - with a trailer hitch.
@@marksimonds13 My pleasure. Totally understand about ordering one. Had this one been different than the one Dana would have built, we would have done the same thing. Both greys are beautiful and I'm a fan of the beige interior but Dana isn't plus we have dogs so that was a safe no for us. LOL. Let us know when you do pick one up. BTW...our dealer told us they no longer sell or install the hitches. They just contract it out to another local company to do them. Yours may be the same just in case you can find everything else you want on the lot except that.
Lovely video with great info. I am picking my calligraphy later this week. One thing I don’t like in my current Acura RDX is that I have to turn off the auto ignition every time. Wish there was a feature to disable it. While test driving the Santa Fe I asked the service guy and he said it doesn’t either but if I drive it in smart mode the car learns my driving and after a few time would automatically turn off the auto ignition itself. Waiting to try this. Have you realized anything that the car may have learned based on your driving?
Hi Sunpreet Singh! Thanks for watching and we are so excited you get your Calligraphy soon! For me (Dana), I struggled with the patience for Smart mode to learn my driving style and normally use Comfort mode. Smart will balance between Comfort and Sport modes, depending on your driving style. I was not informed that Smart mode will learn to not use the auto start/stop feature by my dealership and unfortunately, I don't see mention of it in our online Hyundai groups. This is definitely something I'll start exploring! There is a button between the gear selector and mode knob that disables the auto start/stop, and it has just become second nature for me when I start the car to hit the button when I'm changing gears to go anywhere. We are not alone, and there are lots of folks complaining about that particular fuel saving feature. Unless the software is hacked, I haven't seen yet how to permanently disable the feature. It is intelligent enough to not use the auto start/stop during certain conditions, mostly weather-related, which does keep the car running during extreme heat and cold conditions to ensure the safety of the passengers (and engine). Hope this helps, and that you love your Calligraphy as much as we do!
Did not realize the SMART mode is a learning feature. I too am not a fan of auto start/stop when driving in traffic and usually also turn it off. Find it turns itself off at those intersections where you need a quick gas pedal to get into traffic safely.
Hi Andrew. No idea why YT didn't show me this sooner but we really appreciate you watching and sharing the kind words. This one replaced Dana's 2010 Forester. No way it would replace the 4Runner or WRX. LOL. Take care and look forward to seeing you again.
Very good review. Beautiful car/SUV/truck...vehicle. Great features for tech friendly brains. My most important feature is the "How To" button and the "How To Button" locator. See you next time.
LOL. Could you tell me where those 2 buttons are? I'm sure they could really become handy for this one. 🙂Thank you for you watching and sharing your thoughts. We appreciate you.
We also have massive the under rear deck storage for the jack, compartment cover and more as well as an outside under mounted spare tire in our 2017 AWD Santa Fe Sport (no flats repair kit here/needed. Also, what are you going to do if you have a cut in the side wall and not just a puncture in the tread area? Better have a good auto club, roadside assistance and towing service.
It sounds like the AWD system is different now but to be honest, I couldn't tell you. Im simply pointing out information that the dealer told us but is not being shared elsewhere. I agree on the sidewall and that can be added to the list of why we have roadside on our car insurance. 😁
Awesome video, because I ordered a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited it has the features as the vehicle minus the amount of HD. This was a very unique review video. I'm subscribing to show support!
First off, congratulations on your new Santa Fe. What color did you go with? Thank you very much for watching and sharing the kind words and subscribing. We really appreciate the support and we hope you enjoy the other Santa Fe videos we have and those that are coming up. Stay safe out there!
Good Morning. Good video. Can you tell me where the buttons are, Inside for opening and closing the tailgate? Thanks. Santa Fé Vanguard + luxury pack 2022.
Hi José, thanks for watching! The buttons to release the tailgate from the driver's seat are located on the left side (US market model) of the steering wheel below the air vent. There is also a brightness control button, lane assist, and traction control botton in the row. You do have to press and hold the tailgate release, just as you do with the key fob. If the doors are unlocked, you can open the gate from the rear by pressing the release button above the license plate, to the right of the back-up camera.
Thank you so much for your great video. Just checking in at this later point in time to see if anything has cropped up that concerns you about the mechanical operation. I have been hearing some stories about the dual-clutch experiencing issues. Thank you.
Hi Walter Reil, thanks for watching and the great question! We do see a few complaints in the forums and groups; however, we haven't experienced any major issue. There was some oil consumption during the engine break-in, but that is normal. We have about 14,500 miles on it. Our vehicle is included in Hyundai's latest announced recall for the dual-clutch transmission, but we haven't had issues yet and formal letters won't be mailed until December. We are hopeful that the issue will be resolved promptly at our local dealer when a fix is announced. I will say that we mostly drive in Comfort or Sport mode, as we don't like the driver experience in Smart mode (this bounces between comfort and sport based on learning the driver behavior). Every manufacturer has its recalls, and that's why the warranty period exists as well as consumer protection. In short: we aren't worried and will continue to drive it. Thanks for watching, take care, and stay safe!
Well .... I have a Mercedes with a cruise control low of 15mph. It makes post office and school zones very convenient, relieved of the duty of monitoring speed. I think BMW will set at 10mph.. It would be nice if manufacturers paid a bit more attention to CC. I don't have the remote motion, nor the volume memory, and I did not opt in for the "distronic" package. Hyundai does seem to be ahead in the features category, and for the price, I'm not sure there's better. A car is a personal thing, and I love my Merc. I know a guy with a Ford pickup with over 400K miles, and he loves that pickup! Just curious: will the Santa Fe move with the tailgate open? I ask because there's an easy way to clean out the back if it will (re: Bill Engvalls).
Hi Dave, thanks for watching and the laugh! I agree that not enough auto manufacturers pay attention to the needs of the consumer when it comes to setting the lowest cruise control speeds, but I can tell you that the drive assist function is AMAZING in stop-and-go and low speed zones. I find that I use it frequently on my commute into the office. We agree that a vehicle is a more personal choice and we do our best not to judge others' choices or builds, but I think that's simply because we are "car people." Yes, our Santa Fe will drive with the tailgate open, blaring its warning alarm the entire way. While you could absolutely put it in sport mode and floor it to clear out the cargo area, (LOL), you'd put some serious scratches in the rear bumper cover if you did. There are a lot of safety (I call them nanny) features, but I chose this vehicle because I can choose to override them all. I can ignore the door open alarm enough to ferry trash bins to/from the road, I can drive it up/down my driveway without a seatbelt on, and I can disable enough of the other features to have a normal driving experience. Thanks again for watching and the laugh; take care and stay safe in your Merc!
Hi Bisco, thanks for watching and reaching out. I would say this is irregular as our 2022 always displays on the switch by illuminated the selected mode in orange. While it is possible (but not probable) that this is a feature change between years, I would either call your trustworthy dealership directly or call Hyundai USA at (800) 633-5151 for further advise on what to do for resolution. Hope this helps; take care and stay safe!
Hi Remeiko, thanks for watching and the encouragement! We love hearing feedback (doubly so if it's positive!) and want to continue to provide videos that help others. Take care and stay safe!!

Hi guys great review on 2022 calligraphy. I ordered a white with black interior from Canada just from your review , thanks. But I am wondering if I should change my interior color to beige. There was no cars on the lot so it is hard to tell from pictures. Let me know what you think. Thanks again Randy
HI Randy, thanks for watching, sharing your story and the kind words. We GREATLY appreciate it. We're so happy to have been a part of your decision with the Calligraphy. It's really tough on the interior. I(Art) personally love the brown/beige interiors and Dana is more of a fan of the black. We have dogs so the browns wouldn't have worked for us. Just too maintenance. We recognize the shortage and sometimes you grab a 2nd choice instead of waiting for a 1st but it comes down to your lifestyle and how you feel about it. If you like it and it works, that's all that matters. We hope you stick around as we have more Calligraphy content planned. Stay safe out there.
picked up my hampton gray one today! absolutely love it! It came in a few days early so it was a nice Xmas present. Only thing I dont't love is limited space in the center console. But the turbo more than makes up for it!
That's fantastic news. One heck of a nice Christmas present. Lol. We agree on the center console space but we won't complain too much. We LOVE the turbo on it. Thanks again for sharing. Stay safe out there.
Hello and thanks watching and for the excellent question! From what we can tell, the only area that has a color-customizable LED is there in the passenger dash cubby. We think it sure would have been awesome if it tied into footwell lighting in the rear passenger area. Take care and stay safe!
Hi Ankit. Thank you for watching and sharing the kind words. We greatly appreciate it. We haven't had the opportunity to take it out into true mountain roads but so far in the elevation (hills) and curves here in OH, has been great. We like to drive spirited at times so that was a part of our test drive to see how she handles. We thought she did well considering her ground clearance. On the snow side, we haven't had any solid snow yet here to take her out in but if we do end up getting some, we'll try to put together an episode for it. We hope you follow along on the journey as we'll have more episodes soon on this one. Cheers.
Hi Moomil. Thank you very much for watching and sharing the kind words. We really appreciate it. Hope you follow along for more episodes around the Calligraphy. Cheers!
You had me up until you mentioned the park assist. I’d never see my husband. He’d be outside walking both the dog and the car forwards and backwards, all day and night. I would be at the dealership having a new battery put into the remote every other week. He would swear the P on the remote stood for PLAY. Aside from that, I love it!!
Hi Rohiniraman, thanks for watching! Your comment has us laughing thinking about the usage as a remote controlled car. At least they would all get some fresh air, LOL! Thank you for sharing this, take and stay safe!
Hi Rachel, thanks for watching and asking this! The parking assist from keyfob and the bluelink app will only allow you to pull straight forward or backwards (does not turn the wheel, so probably not a good idea to use if you had to park with turned wheels). It doesn't need to see parking lines because it only moves the car in a straight line and relies on the person operating it to know when to stop. We haven't seen anything pertaining to parallel parking other than the parking camera views. The car won't parallel park itself like others, but, with the camera view, you can make sure you don't curb a wheel or hit anything when you're parking. Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions, take care and stay safe!
Thank you Ian. Greatly appreciate you watching and sharing the kind words. Glad you love the added at the beginning. I thought that might be cool to do this time. Never sold cars, but we do know what people are attracted to and what cool things no one else is talking about.🙂 Stay safe.
We have one of these inbound from the factory but it’s running late on delivery. Supposed to be here in the next few days. We are really looking forward to owning and driving this. It’s our second huyundai with a 2013 Sonata 2.0T being lie first. Thanks very much for the very informative presentation on this vehicle.
Hi Rick. Thanks for watching and sharing your story and the kind words. We greatly appreciate it. Excited to hear you have one on the way. Be sure to follow the channel as we will be having more episodes dedicated to this one. Stay safe out there. Cheers!
Hi Sansin, thanks for watching and asking! We haven't had any issues with the AWD in snow. The AWD model of the Santa Fe comes with an additional drive mode: snow mode. When selected, it enables the AWD system to ensure that we have power to all 4 wheels and control over the throttle to prevent any loss of traction on icy areas especially when coming from or to a stop. It doesn't function the same as a symmetrical always-on AWD like Subaru, but, it meets our needs perfectly in icy and snowy weather. Hope this helps, take care and stay safe!
Hello L Reed! Thanks for the great question. When the turn signals are on, the rear side camera will display in the direction of the turn in either the speedometer (left turn) or tachometer (right turn). Alternatively, you can activate the parking camera view at any time in the center console, even cruising down the interstate, by pressing the button to lower right of the drive mode selector wheel. It has a P and a video camera icon on it. Hope this helps!
HI Kurt, thank you very much for watching and sharing the kind words and tip for others. We greatly appreciate it. Came back to edit because the update is not yet availableto us. 😡. Cheers!
@@andycrawford9870 we did have an interesting issue where the updater app to download the update on the computer doesn't work for us. Our dealer told us there wasn't an update. We see where some folks have reported issues after the update, but not everyone. We figure we will just wait for November and see what happens!
Hi Mohammad. Thank you for watching and asking. We appreciate it. Yes, it sure does. We use that feature a lot actually. Would you like for us to do an episode on how it functions?
@Spirit'ed Wrenchers I think for me, the automatic opening rear tailgate and also the added storage under the rear cargo area are great features to have. I also didn't realize how much each user pre-set could be customized. Very informative !
I have one in Europe. I have 2.2 diesel. We have the spare wheel under the trunk outside of the vehicle. There is a mechanism in the trunk to put the spare wheele down a take it from under the vehicle.
Hi Lopox10. Thank you so much for watching from across the pond and sharing with the community. We really appreciate that. It's so cool to hear how these vehicles change in different countries and this is the first one I heard about in Europe. Wish we had the same here. Stay safe out there!
Hi Kendea. Thank you very much for watching and sharing the kind words. For a 12 speaker system, I believe its fantastic. I wish I could demonstrate the sounds but we don't have the hifi recording equipment to fully demonstrate and even then it would be subjective depending on type of music and listening level. I've invested a lot of money into audio equipment in our other cars and this is the first high end OEM radio, I felt was worth the upgrade. Hope that helps. Cheers!
I absolutely love the child safety lock feature, I have a special needs child that loves to open the doors and I have use the safety lock but when my other kids sit in that seat not knowing that the safety lock is on it can get a little frustrating when it’s time to get out of the car. 😊
Hello Demetre Ofurie, thanks for watching and pointing this out! This is a perfect example of why the driver should be in control of the child safety locks, and ensuring its only a minor inconvenience if it gets left on by accident. Thank you so much for sharing!! Take care and stay safe!
Hi Jack. For our Santa Fe, we actually don't use one since everything we need is on the car itself. For our 4Runner we use Ram Mounts X Grip. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and asking. We appreciate it.
Hi yvesn58. Thanks for watching. We really appreciate that. Your question is a tough one and is up to perception. What one says it's smooth, another will say the road is really rough. In our experience with our roads here in OH, it drives great. We've taken it on road trips through many states and seasonal roads and we don't have one complaint about the different modes and how comfortable it is on the road. Hope that helps. Stay safe out there!
@@yvesn58 I wish we could answer that question but it's impossible because one persons expectations may be higher than another's. It's very quiet on the inside from our stand point. If it weren't we wouldn't have paid what they were asking for it and put almost 40,000 miles already. Also road noise and suspension are 2 different things. Road cracks feel much different in the Santa Fe than our WRX, but that would be expected because they are different cars with different suspensions. That is another impossible category to give a definitive answer on. We highly recommend to go test drive one to experience it first hand. That's the best way to know in your own city/state/road conditions.
Excellent Review - why not mention the audio? - it's supposed to be a good one - it's the most important vehicle feature to me - been collecting tons of music (both physically and in my head) since 1960, when I was 13 (yeah, I'm an oldie, but I know a lot about music and related equipment) - either this Calligraphy or 2022 Acura MDX (Elliot-Scheiner-designed 3D Audio) will be my next car (soon) - help me out with audio comments as part of your reviews, please
Hi Pigs, Thank you very much for watching and sharing your love for music with us. You sound like an audiophile just like me(Art). I'm what some would call an oldie as well and I have to have music playing all day every day. I'll blame that on my parents. LOL. There are so many features that the Calligraphy has, it was tough to keep the list to a manageable amount for 1 video and the HK system was mentioned in a few other reviews so we wanted things that haven't really been talked about. I don't know much about the MDX audio set up but now I will have to go out to take a look. If I can create a video on it, I'll do one comparing the two from a features standpoint. .BTW....I listen to soft melodic music to techno(trance) to Hip-Hop to Folk music and all of them sound fantastic in the Calligraphy. I say that knowing I have thousands of dollars in car audio gear in our others cars. If you'd like to connect via email, please do or we have a page on FB as well. Stay safe. Cheers!
Hi guys! Thank you for taking the time to post this. Really helpful. I have a Calligraphy on order and I was told that, in addition to the other items that can be tailored worth the profile setting (seats, temp…) the side mirrors would also adjust. That’s a big one for me. Can you confirm? Thanks again!!!
Hi Eric. Thanks for watching and asking a great question. We greatly appreciate it. It was actually one we weren't sure about so we went to test it. 😁. Great news is that it does. JR, I own a 2019 Santa Fe and the adaptive cruise control works fantastic in bumper to bumper traffic. It took me a while to "trust" that the vehicle would actually slow and stop if necessary, but over time using the feature is second nature to me now! It's also fun to freak out passengers with the lane keep assist with my hands briefly off the steering wheel and going around a curve! The vehicle stays between the lines. :-)
Hi Melindalee. Thank you for watching and commenting. We greatly appreciate it. Unfortunately we only have android devices so we're not entirely sure. Wish we could help with your question. Have you joined any FB groups or forums online to find the answer?
Great review! I have had my Calligraphy on order since November. I am trying hard to be patient. The dealership has gotten some in, but I specifically want white with beige interior.
Hi Kerry. Thank you so much for watching and sharing the kind words. I apologize for the delay as I'm discovering a bunch of comments YT didn't notify me about. That's fantastic about your order. Has it come in yet? White with Beige is going to look amazing.
@@kerrybowell1647 oh no. I know we haven't seen a white one at all over here so it must be a rarely ordered option. Sure hope it doesn't get pushed back further.
Hi Mike, thanks for watching and adding this feature! Can you share some more information about syncing Alexa to Bluelink? This is actually something we have not done!
it is easy, just tell "Alexa tell bluelink to start my Santa fe, and turn on heated seats, or whatever else you desire". Pretty cool, especially if your busy and don't have time to get your phone out and open your app.@@SpiritedWrenchers
First, great video! I'm currently in research mode and this Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy is on my short list. Question: Does the HUD show navigation info if you are using Waze/Google Maps or does it only show nav info when using the stock navigation system?
Hi Rhonda, thanks for watching and the excellent question! The HUD navigation only displays the directional arrows and distance to turn when using the Hyundai stock navigation system. I have noticed that it does not display when using Android Auto wirelessly or via cable. However; when using Waze or Google maps, the map itself can be displayed in the larger Nav screen by selecting "Media" from the menu button options, so you will not have to figure out how to mount your phone to keep an eye on directions when using other nav programs.
I'm an owner of the new Hyundai Santa FE and I don't understand why it's not possible to close/open the sunroof/windows with the remote key. You can open and close the trunk, start the engine and move forward and backward the car but such basic function regarding the sunroof and windows is not possible. Suppose that you sunroof is tilted and it starts raining. To close it, you must enter the car, start the engine en do it manually. With my 10 years old car I could do it from my home window by using the remote key. Very strange.
Hi Robert. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. We really appreciate that. You're absolutely right. With all the advanced tech this has, having it for the sunroof shouldn't be hard. Congrats on your new Santa Fe. We hope you choose to subscribe so you don't miss all of our Santa Fe content. Stay safe out there.
Hi Neidhart, thank you so much for watching and sharing the kind words. We really appreciate it. We're also thankful to show you something you didn't know. Lol. Thats the best part. Stay safe out there. Cheers!
Hi Pat! Thanks for watching and asking. This setting is access via the touch screen navigation. Go to "navigation", then select "saved places". From this screen, you can add or edit your Home, Work, Favorite1, or Favorite 2. We found the best verbal command paired with the home address saved is to speak "Go Home", and "take me home" or "navigate home" doesn't work. Hope this helps!
I didn’t like the exclusion of the spare tire on the Calligraphy AWD. I added my own with info and resources found on the web. Just finished. While I found it “simple” I wouldn’t say it was as “easy” as others described and cost me between $4-500. I do NOT appreciate the fact it came without even a temporary spare. I’ve damaged sidewalls in remote places, plus using the fix a flat type “system” they provided may get you to a tire dealership but surely permanently ruins your tire.
Thank you for watching and sharing. We greatly appreciate that. We agree, we wish they were included as well. Adding the spare isn't a project that is high on our list at the moment but good to know that there is more to it than what others have stated. Stay safe out there!
I cannot figure out how to illuminate the console buttons, like for heated steering wheel, brakehold, that set of buttons. I know there must be a way, but I can't find it.
Hi David, thanks for watching and commenting about this. We do see it as a lack of a feature that these buttons do not illuminate except by overhead dome light. Even a small LED below the hazard switch would be great for ambiance and illumination... if you find out otherwise, please let us know!
Thank you for watching brother and sharing your thoughts. We appreciate that. Yes, there is so much to this car, it will take a while to use/learn it all. LOL.
Stay safe!

Just bought this vehicle today in Blue and AWD. It's a techie's dream and I'm in love.

I want to thank you two very much for this additional information. I have made a factory purchase two weeks ago of the 2022 Santa Fe Calligraphy and the information you provided was part of what persuaded me to buy it over other competitors.. Can't wait to receive it in April!

Cheers!
If more people knew what multiport injection is they would be so happy to see it! Too many gdi cars clogged up
@@Rockybalboa541 Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. We greatly appreciate it. We agree, its definitely a plus for sure. Stay safe!
Roger
Mt. Martha,
Victoria, Australia
We don't get THAT much where we live in Ohio :)
Thank you so much for watching!
SHEEESH! She is a beauty! Some of these little features are pretty awesome, I've never even seen the button that extends the length of the seat
I really like the bird’s eye view and the parking assist.
Hi Mrs67bear. Thank you for watching and sharing. We absolutely love that feature as well. Dana uses it quite a bit when parking Stay safe out there!

How is ride and seat comfort on long trips? Is it quiet?
@@got_to_roll Awesome, thank you! I've been considering this vs the RDX or the X3.
@@AnonymousAnonymous-ks1bg I tried and liked both of those. My back had the final say.

Thank you for this high quality and informative review. Four months ago when shopping for a new Genesis in Las Vegas, we found a 2022 Santa Fe Calligraphy which as you know has a lot of the Genesis goodies at about 15k less.
Noticed that in your video he talked about the carpet liner that came with? the vehicle @6:33 when our Santa Fe 2022 Caligraphy did not come with one.
So for the questions.
Just what I have been looking for. Thanks

Thank again
@@SpiritedWrenchers Also I am enjoying your other videos on the Santa Fe just not handy enough to attempt them
@Jack-cr3je thank you so much for watching our other Santa Fe videos.
I got the 2023 Santa Fe limited and the torque and HP is insane to drive with. Love it so far. Still learning all rhe features of course e
Cheers!
The physical buttons are a primary reason I bought another Hyundai. Subaru has eliminated them in the Outback, and it’s a disaster.
Stay safe.
This is one of the best reviews I’ve ever seen. Excellent work. I think I’ll purchase one for my wife, she currently has a 2019 limited.

Part 2 please. Hello from Perth Western Australia. You guys are awesome 👍👍👍👍😎 Thanks 👍
Hi Pablo; thanks for watching!!! What would you be interested in seeing in a Part 2 video? We've now ticked over 50k miles and still loving it. More features, or just the top features that we can't live without 50k miles later?
Great job guys, im interesting now that the 23's are out what are the prices for the 22's calligraphies?
Hi Lawrence, thank you for watching and sharing the kind words. We greatly appreciate it. I had to do a quick search to see what the inventory looks like out there. When we bought ours, we were able to get it for around $48k. There are currently no 22's that are new in our area. Used go from 40k- 48k depending on mileage. Hope that helps and we wish you luck on your Santa Fe search!
This was a fantastic video. I get mine in about two weeks. Will have to save and rewatch. Thanks!
Hi LifeofRyanRC. Thank you for watching and sharing the kind words. We greatly appreciate it. Congrats on your new purchase. What color did you go with?
@@SpiritedWrenchers hampton grey. im not sold on it yet. its growing on me though...i really wanted the color you guys have.
@@SpiritedWrenchers Thank you.
Beautiful new SUV. Thanks for sharing these features. Super cool with what all these are packed with!
Thank you for watching and the kind words. We greatly appreciate it.
You should try it out with a Open Pilot Comma Three.
Thank you for a great in debut review it was very helpful.
Best review I have seen👍
Hi Carlene. Thank you very much for watching and sharing the incredibly kind words. We really do appreciate it.
Cheers!
Fantastic vehicle! Does just about everthing a person could want.
Thank you Generac. We agree 100%. Thank you for watching and sharing. Cheers!
at 13 min, the forward and backward button feature, how well does that work if your steering wheel is slightly turned and the wheels not straight?
Hi JCraftvfx, thanks for watching and asking. We greatly appreciate it. Apologies on the delay as the holidays had us very busy this month. Your question was a new discovery for ourselves with this SUV. If the wheels are turned when activating the feature, the car automatically straightens the wheels up and then moves in the direction that you have selected. Our minds are blown. LOL. Hope that helps and thanks again for being a part of our community.
Good presentation... greetings from Belgium from Europe
Greetings Robert. Thank you for watching and the kind words. We greatly appreciate it, especially from across the pond. Stay safe. Cheers.
@@SpiritedWrenchers Good to know about the hitch - thanks again!
Awesome video guys! Congratulations on the new ride!! I hope this isn’t replacing one of my favorites from your stable!

We agree that a vehicle is a more personal choice and we do our best not to judge others' choices or builds, but I think that's simply because we are "car people."
Yes, our Santa Fe will drive with the tailgate open, blaring its warning alarm the entire way.
My 2023 Santa Fe Calligraphy select dial does not display what driving g mode I am using in the switch, only on the dash. Is that normal?
Hi Bisco, thanks for watching and reaching out. I would say this is irregular as our 2022 always displays on the switch by illuminated the selected mode in orange. While it is possible (but not probable) that this is a feature change between years, I would either call your trustworthy dealership directly or call Hyundai USA at (800) 633-5151 for further advise on what to do for resolution. Hope this helps; take care and stay safe!

Hi Ankit. Thank you for watching and sharing the kind words. We greatly appreciate it. We haven't had the opportunity to take it out into true mountain roads but so far in the elevation (hills) and curves here in OH, has been great.
I dont get the park assist. Does the camera need to see the parking lines?
Is there anything to help you like parallel park?
Great review! Love the footage at the beginning. You two did a great job with capturing the features of the vehicle. Y’all sold cars before huh🤔😂
Thank you Ian. Greatly appreciate you watching and sharing the kind words. Glad you love the added at the beginning. I thought that might be cool to do this time. Never sold cars, but we do know what people are attracted to and what cool things no one else is talking about.🙂 Stay safe.
😆
We have one of these inbound from the factory but it’s running late on delivery. Supposed to be here in the next few days. We are really looking forward to owning and driving this. It’s our second huyundai with a 2013 Sonata 2.0T being lie first. Thanks very much for the very informative presentation on this vehicle.
Hi Rick. Thanks for watching and sharing your story and the kind words. We greatly appreciate it. Excited to hear you have one on the way. Be sure to follow the channel as we will be having more episodes dedicated to this one. Stay safe out there. Cheers!
@@SpiritedWrenchers it’s in! Picking up today! 😀
@@extra330sc fantastic news. Thanks for sharing. Now comes the fun. Cheers!
How is the AWD? How does it drive on snow?
Hi Sansin, thanks for watching and asking! We haven't had any issues with the AWD in snow. The AWD model of the Santa Fe comes with an additional drive mode: snow mode. When selected, it enables the AWD system to ensure that we have power to all 4 wheels and control over the throttle to prevent any loss of traction on icy areas especially when coming from or to a stop. It doesn't function the same as a symmetrical always-on AWD like Subaru, but, it meets our needs perfectly in icy and snowy weather. Hope this helps, take care and stay safe!
Does it show camera view when you're making turns
Hello L Reed! Thanks for the great question. When the turn signals are on, the rear side camera will display in the direction of the turn in either the speedometer (left turn) or tachometer (right turn). Alternatively, you can activate the parking camera view at any time in the center console, even cruising down the interstate, by pressing the button to lower right of the drive mode selector wheel. It has a P and a video camera icon on it. Hope this helps!
OK thanks,
I was wondering because as I am disabled, it is very useful to open and close the tailgate. inside the vehicle.
Our pleasure. We certainly understand how that's an important feature for you. Stay safe!
Wow things a beauty!
Thank you Charles for watching and sharing your thoughts. We appreciate it.
Great stuff! Also, if you haven't already, make sure you do the software update - much more user-friendly radio feature
HI Kurt, thank you very much for watching and sharing the kind words and tip for others. We greatly appreciate it. Came back to edit because the update is not yet availableto us. 😡. Cheers!
As long as the software update is available. Ours is not yet available according to dealer info.
@@andycrawford9870 we did have an interesting issue where the updater app to download the update on the computer doesn't work for us. Our dealer told us there wasn't an update. We see where some folks have reported issues after the update, but not everyone. We figure we will just wait for November and see what happens!
does it come with stop-and-go cruise control? traffic jam assist?
Hi Mohammad. Thank you for watching and asking. We appreciate it. Yes, it sure does. We use that feature a lot actually. Would you like for us to do an episode on how it functions?
@@SpiritedWrenchersYes please! If you do, please share the link here. Thanks again!
Great video!
Thanks for watching and sharing the kind words Chad. We really appreciate it. Did you have a favorite feature that we covered in this episode?
@Spirit'ed Wrenchers I think for me, the automatic opening rear tailgate and also the added storage under the rear cargo area are great features to have. I also didn't realize how much each user pre-set could be customized. Very informative !
@@chadfinlay4086 Yes, the tailgate is a huge one. I've used that feature more times that I can count. LOL. Thank you for sharing!
Such an awesome review. I would love to hear how this Harmon System sound.
What phone mount do you use???
Hi Jack. For our Santa Fe, we actually don't use one since everything we need is on the car itself. For our 4Runner we use Ram Mounts X Grip. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and asking. We appreciate it.
What about suspension and ride smoothness on rough pavement?
@@SpiritedWrenchers Let's put it in other words. Is it well soundproof or you hear/feel every crack in the road?
@@SpiritedWrenchers Thanks for your comments 🙂
With each profile change the mirrors change with the seat settings. Another great feature. Hope this helps. We're excited to hear you have one on the way and we hope you enjoy it and subscribe to our channel so you don't miss more episodes. Stay safe!
@@SpiritedWrenchers Excellent. I just dislike having to dork around with the mirror adjustments every time after my wife has taken the vehicle for a spin.

@@SpiritedWrenchers One final question on this topic. Is it possible to call up a profile using the Key Fob or does one have to use a Digital Key? Hard to find clear guidance on this in the manual I just downloaded :)
@@ericcalleja3715 Hi Eric. Happy to help so always feel free ask anything you're curious about. Unfortunately, you're not able to from the FOB. You can from the Bluelink app. Thanks for subscribing. We appreciate you.
Thank you for making this fantastic informative review video of this Santa Fe I love the color I will be purchasing mine when my dealership gets more in stock due to the chip shortage also please do more of a review on the adaptive cruise control and slow bumper to bumper traffic does it have the crawl feature I guess that's what you call it thank you so much and have a wonderful day.
Hi JR, thank you for watching and sharing the kind words. We greatly appreciate it. Excited to hear one is in your future as well. After visiting the Auto Expo today, we have confirmed we made the right buy. We'll certainly try to work on an episode for you on that. Thanks for the suggestion. Cheers!
@@dturk1022 thank you so much
@@dturk1022 Thank you. Out next episode will actually be about three adaptive cruise with Stop & Go so your comment was perfect timing. Lol
On apple play, how do you add and change apps?

Great review! I have had my Calligraphy on order since November. I am trying hard to be patient. The dealership has gotten some in, but I specifically want white with beige interior.
Hi Kerry. Thank you so much for watching and sharing the kind words. I apologize for the delay as I'm discovering a bunch of comments YT didn't notify me about. That's fantastic about your order. Has it come in yet? White with Beige is going to look amazing.
@@SpiritedWrenchers, not yet. The date has been moved from 5/6/22 to 5/13/22 to 5/26/22. So, who knows…I am being patient.
@@kerrybowell1647 oh no. I know we haven't seen a white one at all over here so it must be a rarely ordered option. Sure hope it doesn't get pushed back further.

I love how you can tell Alexa how to start the car and request climate control features as well
Hi Mike, thanks for watching and adding this feature!
Nice review guys
Hi Mc Grograns, thank you very much for watching and sharing the kind words. We greatly appreciate you. Stay safe!

How do I set my home location on the Navigation and also put in a new destination to navigate too.
Neat car, love all the new tech these things have.
Thank you for watching brother and sharing your thoughts. We appreciate that. Yes, there is so much to this car, it will take a while to use/learn it all. LOL.
