One of the best channels dedicated to just building cars and not just on one topic. He also uploads almost every day. I've been watching this channel for a few years now. I hate when channels don't show you what's going on, they just do B-rolls and show the end product. Not Devin.
Am I the only grown man waiting on Devin's video drops like a 6 year old waiting on Christmas day to see if the fat guy brought me something?! As always, outstanding job Devin. Watching your videos is like my zen moments during the day!!!
I’m right beside you my dude! The amount of knowledge and creativity this dude has is nuts! The Honda series he’s been popping out is amazing and the best I’ve seen on UA-cam.
@chavalemus1321 Yes Devin's knowledge is truley mind-boggling the best I have seen in a long long time and i watch a lot of similar content he is just a natural I guess👍🏻😊
Best YT engine build ever. Attention to detail is excellent man. Might be worth considering an oil pan baffle, my k24 was suffering with oil surge under hard acceleration and cornering. Wouldn’t want that lovely motor having any issues. Bravo dude, best series I’ve seen 🎉
Definitely recommended, oil starvation killed my K20A2 block in a long high speed corner on track (probably around 90mph), new engine (K24A2 with the old K20A2 head which was still fine) got some nice baffles installed in the oil pan to avoid a repeat.
I know you’re going off of instructions for the valve lash, but as. Honda tech, I would always recommend setting your base timing and having the chain on. It’s best to set valve lash at TDC compression stroke. I can’t remember which version of the k24 you have, but from any that I’ve done intake has been 0.009” and exhaust has been 0.012”. Like I said, it may be the difference between OEM and the company you purchased from, but I just wanted to through this out there. I can’t wait to see this thing completely done!
Hey man love your content! Next time when you are trying to get a broken bolt out, try welding a nut instead of a bolt because you will have more of the weld that sticks to the broken bolt and nut. You can also ping the area around it with an air chisel and use penetrating oil will also loosen it up even further before trying to extract the bolt.
I was only thinking to myself the other day how quickly the 20 minute videos blast by and how good it'd be if Devin blessed us with a super long one... Yew!
Some more tips; not knocking how he did it. -Check the cylinder bores or journals in three spots around the circumference to verify no egg shaping of the circumference. Also, check towards the top and towards the bottom of the stroke or biased left and biased right of the journal to verify no tapering. -When measuring ring gap, use an old ring on the piston to get the new ring squared in the bore to get an accurate measurement. if not, the ring can be cocked and throw off the gap, even ever so slightly. -HEED HIS WARNING! Always triple check that the circlip is in the groove completely. Same with the valve keepers. Tapping the top of the retainer with a rubber mallet (head off the table to not slam a valve on the table) will verify they are seated and will not pop out. -It is a good practice to spin the crank over each time something in the rotating assembly has something installed and torqued (inclding the camshafts, oil pump, balance shafts, etc; not just the bottom end). It will verify nothing is binding, and if so, you know exactly where the bind is and what caused the binding. Better to find that early than when the engine is fully assembled. -If you adjust the valves before the chain is installed and tensioned (as the video shows), make sure your pistons are lowered from top dead center (TDC). This is achieved by turning the crankshaft. This prevents piston to valve contact while turning the camshaft to the heel of the lobe. -On the K-Series, there are pin spots on the back of the cams to hold them in place to make installing the chain easier. It holds everything in place so you are not fighting the valve springs. 07AAB-RWCA120 Good work, man. I have watched the entire build to this point and following the list down. Now to get my K24A2 built and find a car to put it in..
I strongly recommend using a product like Dupont Sontara prep wipes for building engines vs Scott Shop towels. Sontara products have no lint, no rosins in their product. They’re designed for final prep in the automotive paint process - they’re ideal for engine assembly which is best done in a clean shop environment.
Realistically I was waiting for someone to comment on why he used a rotary wheel on the mating surface for the broken bolt. Yall did good. Yall did good.
But what a wonderful video... I love mechanics and everything that involves cars and this channel is great. Great content, congratulations... Big hug from Portugal
Watched start to finish. I hope to get a Mini Cooper and do a K swap so it is reliable for my oldest daughter. Your content is inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
Such an amazing and well done video! Learned a lot there and I actually feel like I have a much better understanding of the internals of a engine! What i wouldn't give to shadow you through a build!! Your knowledge is astounding sir! Ty for sharing your knowledge with us!
Just for those who don’t know, check orientation of the cams on the gear timing marks before they are torqued into place. This is to prevent any accidental valve clash.
Back 2 where it all began and brought me 2 your channel back 2 building motors. Thanks for the content of your build from working in yourr family garage 2 your own.
Watch out with using the Z3(RRB/RRC) oil pan and a type s oil pump, the pan is a bit deeper than most K series so your pick up may not reach the bottom of the pan so under acceleration(especially AWD) you could risk oil starvation. A fix to this is to run an RRC oil pump or modify your pickup. I believe unit2 fabrication makes an weld on adapter for this problem. Also as a few others have said make sure to close the oil port on the bottom of the girdle or you'll have low oil pressure. Sorry for the long comment! Love the build and that you're showing everything along the way.
So thorough! Love the fact you provided torque specs and sequences for the job, bravo! So helpful and you provided quick snapshots of the extra things you can do to make it spiffy like powder coating and zinc plating. Love it! 🔥
What an insanely helpful and detailed video. This is the kind of stuff that makes UA-cam so great. I am jealous of that adjustable valve lash instead of having to deal with buckets being the perfect size. Maybe my next build should be a K-Series.
İ am not a profesional. Just spent last 4-5 years built and drive honda k series and i believe stock block will not last long araound 800hp so my suggestion is keep it on low boost to have long life motor or sleeved block. And i love your videos , first thing to check your chanel if you upload one video 🙏🙏🙏
Love that this is nearly an hour long.

Definitely more longer uploads would be good. Normally just getting into it and it ends. Popcorn barely started. 😅🍿
@@TheEagleman193bobby is no where near the level of engine builder devin is.

Long videos like this have been missed. Every now and then works for me. How about it guys?

33:05 not gonna lie, this is one of the best if not THE best build breakdowns I have ever seen. Thank you for you time and you build 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is seriously the best K rebuild video on the internet. Thank you for putting it together.

An hour long of excellent craftsmanship, Devin we love how much love you put into your work keep up building more engines we absolutely love that!
almost an hour long video from devin!?! im 100% here for it!
Loving the longer video, can you do this again every now and then, keep up the good work 👍🏾
At 8:10 into video, looks like some Rays wheels just got delivered 😂
This build series is epic. I’m addicted to it lol and the longer vid just made my day 🙌🏼
Nice work! You make everything seem so straight forward and easy when I know it's not. This is a great series 😎👍
This was the most satisfying 52mins of my life this man is a UA-cam Legend the content is amazing you can litterly build a K24 from this 1 video
I have no idea why I like these long engine build videos. I’ll never build a k series but damn it’s fun to watch
Love how Devins put in the work as if he is not gonna fuck it up within 2 pulls
Wow Devin, that was the most comprehensive engine build I have ever seen. Thank you
I am learning more in this video than in the school i am currently attending for automotive. thank you for your thorough guide sir.
I watch your work from Russia and just admire your work. The quality is top notch. It is very interesting how this engine configuration will go.

im so excited for this. and i hope im not the only one who thinks it's so satisfying and therapeutic building engines.
I was planning on e30 k24 swap and I watched videos all day long and I was feeling like maybe I can’t but this is beyond helpful thank you bro
Just do it!! You'll be glad you did... The easiest motor to fuk with! And the most aftermarket support for cheap!!
HMMMMM cant wait to see the what’s inside the fresh rays boxes 👀👀
This is how you build a high hp engine precisely. Everything is done the right way and thoroughly.Awesome.
One of the best "how to build a k series" videos that I have seen. Saving this to the library!
Never missed an upload 👍 and thanks for not making this assembly into 5 episodes
Just had a newborn. Enjoyed every minute of this video. Had enough time to completely enjoy it. Awesome video
Awesome quality content Devin! Like seeing you ride the R6 even for a bit, lol. Glad you still enjoy it!
I also love that this is nearly an hour long but I wish I’d known before, now I’m gonna have to roll up again halfway through! 🔥💯💨
4 hours later 💀 It was worth it 🤙
Hey bro good job
One thing that caught my attention was that you didnt degree the cams
How do you fix that ?
Your consistency is incredible, Keep up the great work!!!

Can I ask why u put the rtv arnd both sides of the hole, wouldn’t it be enough to just get the side closest to the inside of the engine?
A video to keep in the back pocket for decades!
I am blown away by your zinc, plating set up
Thank you for doing the build video right. Connected the dots for me really well
Nice work bro 😎 we need more long videos like this one 🙂😊
So 🔥🔥 can’t wait to see it in the type r and chasing those numbers 💪🏼
